9/20/24 CJ's is a local venue with wonderful food, service and atmosphere. It's a bit off the beaten path in a shopping center, but as a result, there is always plenty of parking. Tonight I chose to have the filet mignon with a green peppercorn sauce that could not have been prepared more perfectly. I ordered it medium rare and it was tender and very flavorful. They served it with a side of mashed potatoes and sautéed zucchini, green and yellow. I enjoyed every bite . Hubby chose to have a burger again. He enjoyed it as much as he enjoyed the Monday night special Burger night where you can order one burger and get another half price. Keep that in your repertoire for Monday nights as many of the local places are not open on a Monday night. We come here every year after we cut down our tree at the tree farms and we always have a wonderful experience. The wait staff is so nice and accommodating and the food never disappoints. It's tucked away in a shopping center but don't bypass this hidden gem. This trip, we just did some drinks and appetizers and it was fabulous. We had the nachos with chicken and the bang bang shrimp and my daughter had the kids chicken fingers. The nachos were piled high with so much chicken and toppings! Delicious as always. Came here on a trip out East today. The restaurant has a very "homey" vibe. Diners were watching the football game and workers were very nice. I ordered simple chicken and fingers and fries (with seasoning) and my husband ordered the CJ burger. Both were very good! My entree came with pickles which NEVER happens - huge plus! The seasoning on my fries reminded me of a delicious wing place by me and it was very good, but there was a little too much seasoning for my liking. My husband enjoyed his burger. CJ's has a very extensive menu and I will make an effort to try a nice steak (they have great variety) the next time I am in the area. read more

My husband ordered French onion soup. The top was black which made the soup taste burnt. The table next to us got a bread basket that I had to ask for. My husband's baked stuffed clams were mostly tasteless breadcrumbs. I ordered lobster ravioli which I'm sure was from Costco but the sauce was good. CJ's American Grill is located right on Main Road on the north side in a small strip center tucked back down a small paved walkway. On the east end this is one of the places you can go in he summer season or like today mid week, end of January and they are open to the local residents or those out off season. French onion soup is definite, would order again Didn't try the steaks or salads. My friend got an odd steak steak sandwich which was in fact a steak on half a hero type roll, covered with cheese and onion straws. Not typical. Good flavor but prefers sliced traditional. Tried a winning Pastrami Rueben with toasted rye, homemade sauerkraut & mustard. Nicely browned pastrami. Was done perfectly. Not that that matters when you put east. This review is mostly about the service and not the food, we didn't make it that far. We spent the day at Harbes Family Farm and found CJ's American Grill on Yelp to stop at on the way back home. We went on Saturday the 12th of October at around 3PM. Keep in mind, the restaurant was nearly empty. Small menu so I ordered a French Onion Soup, two items from the kid's menu, and my wife and I were going to share four appetizers. It took about 20-minutes for our order to be taken. My French Onion Soup came out with the kid's food 20-minutes after that. We're now 40-minutes in. At this point, the restaurant had more guests. Had to send my French Onion Soup back because I like the cheese well-done, which they couldn't handle the first time around. No big deal. The French Onion Soup had potential, decent flavor, but it was loaded with TONS of Bay Leaves, which should be removed before serving. I get that one or two might remain in the soup, but there must have been thirty of them in there. No one likes eating stiff Bay Leaves. We're waiting, waiting, 45-minutes passes, we notice a group that came in 45-minutes later than us received their food, basically the same items we ordered, but we were still waiting. At that point I went to ask for a manager, requested the check, and just wanted to leave at that point. She said "are you sure, your food is up now", I said I'm positive, we just want to leave. We waited another 10-minutes for the check, manager came back over and asked if we wanted to take the food to go. What a joke, she should not be managing a restaurant, that's for sure. In any event, she said "sorry, I took something off the bill for you". She didn't, the only deduction on the bill was the 20% coupon from Yelp. Some good came out of this though. We found Jans Chinese Food in the same shopping center, which was amazing. Side note, they sat us at a table in the back-corner, which literally has a quad-outlet lined up with the TOP of the table, without any safety covers on the outlets. Luckily my 4-year-old knows better, but this isn't safe at all. It's only a matter of time before a child takes a utensil and sticks it in the outlet. read more

If you want to be berated into getting one of three things the server recommend, go here. Otherwise skip this place. There are plenty of better place within a few minutes of this one. We couldn't get out of here fast enough. The food is bland, absolutely nothing special. Who doesn't salt their burgers? They don't. They don't salt their fries either. Everything lacked basic seasonings. When asked of I could get mayo on the side, nope, didn't get that. Had to ask for refills on our water. Mind you, we were the only people there. The server was clearly having a bad day and we took the brunt of it. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more
