Let me start with the valet, host/ess and bar staff were amazing. The bartender helped us with our drink selection and walked us through the menu while we waited on our reservation. The service staff on the other hand have quite a lot to work on. When we were notified our table was ready we walked over to the host stand to be seated. At this point there were only two hosts seating as it was around 9pm. We stood and waited for the "seating" hostess to take us to our table, a server came up and just starts gossiping to the hostess taking names and checking people in. I waited tables for 5 years in college and my manager would have lost it if customers were actively waiting to be seated (menus and table ticket printed and waiting) and a server didn't take the initiative to seat customers. After standing at the hostess stand for 3 minutes (I know this doesn't sound that long but it is) watching the gossip session, I told my husband if that server is our server I'm asking for a different section. We finally get seated and our server approaches, we order the chef 4 appetizer and I order a drink from the bar to start. We don't see our server again until after our appetizer has arrived. I tell him we would like to order and he tells me he will be right back. 30 MINUTES PASS. I'm no longer hungry at this point. We flag down another waitress and my husband orders the garlic stuffed filet which our waiter had recommended when we were asking at the time of appetizer selection, now 40 minutes ago. About 5 minutes later OUR server comes back and tells us they are out of the garlic stuffed filet. Prolly wouldn't have been if the waiter had taken our order when I originally asked to make our selection. My husband makes a different selection (chicken fried steak) and the waiter scurries off. At this point it's late, after 10pm we still don't have our entree so we flag down our server and tell him to box the food up before it comes out and let him know we are ready for the check. He comes over with the credit card scanner and To go boxes (for the appetizer leftovers) and stands there waiting for my card while I box up the food on the table. I mention this because 2 tables around us were getting their food boxed up by their servers while mine is just standing there holding the credit machine out to me while I box the food. At this point I was done. My husband and I have a new baby and due to his work commitments only get one night out a month and this was it. read more

Not sure what to say about this place. Was excited to try out this new upscale Texas restaurant in the neighborhood. It is certainly a beautiful restaurant with an expensive build out. It is also huge. Does not bode well that there were only four tables occupied during a Sunday lunch hour. Of course, no brunch yet. That may hurt them. Everything is fairly heavy Texas fare-meats, fried foods, and barbecue. Nothing we had really stood out. Nothing to draw us back in. They need to get way more butts in seats given the expansive restaurant. Parking and the price point are issues. Parking is tough and the prices are high. Menu oddly similar to State Fare in the same development. State Fare's food is better and they have an excellent brunch. read more

The decor and restaurant itself is wonderful. I had heard they brought the "A team" in when opening this location from their other locations---well they are obviously gone now. Overall, only 50 percent of the food we had was memorable. My redfish was over cooked. However, the rice was great. The sampler appetizer was much the same. The queso was outstanding, wile the fried green tomatoes were total mush inside and the tacos were "Jack in the box quality". Onion rings were good. A friend that was with us had the chicken fried steak. I tried it and It was very good. However, his mashed potato's looked like a watered down box prepared mess and that's exactly what it tasted like. -- Lubys cafeteria has better mashed potatoes. The service was sub par for the prices. Our food came out literally 20 seconds after our appetizers arrived and we sent it back. They were very accommodating on this and the manager came over and assured us it would be recooked and that it wasn't acceptable what had happened. Finally, the desert we had was also subpar. It was the bread pudding made with croissant. Sounds good right ? It was gross. Literally a hard, burnt on bottom warm croissant with ice cream on top. You couldn't even cut into it with a spoon. It literally had to be sawed into. A abysmal interpretation of bread pudding for sure. All of us agreed, this place was trying to to be an upscale version of taste of Texas. For the prices and current quality, I would prefer to just go to the real taste of texas. I'm a Texan by birth and If your a "foodie" (especially when it comes to southern cooking) you will be disappointed. To many actual good options in Houston. The first time we went, the service was great and our waiter was very kind and engaging. The steaks were great too, great experience. we thought we had found our new spot. We went last night for my husbands birthday and the experience was terrible. Our server went missing for a half an hour and we had to find another waiter to go hunt him down. It was so bad, the tabke next to us heard and raised their hand and said that they can attest, that the service has been terrible and they can't find their waiter either. When he came back, he had an attitude the rest of the evening And never apologized. We had 2 mgrs come and try to do damage control. Neither of which did anything about it or tried to iron it out. The server walked up to see what we were saying to the manager and it was a terribly uncomfortable experience. i rarely ever try to write reviews, but if we r paying $65 for a steak and it comes out cold and the green beans are hard and undercooked and the service is terrible, there are too many places to go in town than to have to endure this experience. The manager made no attempt to try and smoothe the situation over or do anything. She simply told us to call her to make our next reservation...don't think she will ever get the opportunity. read more

It was very good although the bread was a bit greasy but maybe that's what made it so good . Next time I would ask not to put so much butter on bread to grill . This location just opened up about a month ago and I HAD to try it out. My parents went with friends and couldn't stop raving about it so I know it was about to be worth it. My girlfriends and I went and had a beautiful time. From the service to the food, we had no complaints. The kitchen accidentally made an extra appetizer and we got it for free while we were waiting on our drinks. Everyone on the staff is super nice and knowledgeable about all menu items. You won't go wrong ordering ANYTHING. Can't wait to go back :D read more

My husband booked reservations here for my birthday and I was excited to check it out because of the gorgeous ambiance. Unfortunately, the experience absolutely did not live up to the atmosphere. We told our server it was my birthday. She was fine but we regularly found ourselves without water refilled. It was very warm in the restaurant as well. My prime rib was flavorless. I tried my husband's pork chop and it was good. At the end of our meal, our server did not offer dessert menus (again knowing it was my birthday). It was just an underwhelming experience especially considering we spent well over $200. I don't plan to return. Houston has far too many fantastic options to experience subpar food. read more

Saw this place on Instagram! Decided to go for our Anniversary! Very nice to pull up and valet, walked in and the place was beautiful. Nice waiting area, waited like 5min and directly to our table. We had an amazing waitress that helped us with menu questions. We went all out on ordering. Starting with The Judd! Great presentation. Tasted amazing. Then we ordered the queso with elk picadillo, yum! A little spicy but yum. For dinner we ordered the Cowboy Feast! All of the beef was amazingly prepared. 4 sides: Watermelon was different to see on the menu but don't skip it! Whipped potatoes, could have been all 4 sides...wow. The macaroni was yum, a little spicy but yum. The Brussels sprouts were good but as the night went on....you get full, you make choices one what to eat...lol. It's a lot. I forgot the shrimp, very good, cooked just right. There are also 4 sauces, we tried all but the cilantro...the bone marrow butter was decadent and was great with each steak! They gave us a free desert and we went with the Whiskey Bread Pudding. So very good. Great night, the restaurant was busy but the atmosphere was not loud. I made a Sunday brunch reservation for 2pm. We were highly impressed, seated very quickly upon arrival, and the staff was very welcoming. We loved everything from the appetizers to the main course and whiskey drinks. It was our first time the staff told us we were welcomed to go the second floor and see the areas and rooms up there. They also have an elevator that will take you to the upper level for those in need of assistance. Very nice restaurant many tables for small or large parties. I definitely will be back! read more

I was really excited to visit this place, as a fellow classmate from high school is an executive for the restaurant group that owns Haywire and he's always touting it on LinkedIn. So, we had some friends in town, and they wanted to meet for dinner. Most of the guys in our party are also classmates from high school. Counting the wives, there were 14 of us total. I had read some bad reviews but was hoping these were rare cases, but nope! All true! When we walked in, I ordered a signature cocktail from the downstairs bar. The bartender had no idea how to make a Haywire signature drink. Really? Another bartender came to the rescue. This was a bad omen. Once seated upstairs, it took forever to get served. Although our server was working hard, so much went wrong. She brought the wrong bourbon, but I didn't want to make a scene so I just drank it. The appetizers were fairly flavorful, but not mind-blowing. I liked the onion rings and fried green tomatoes, but the elk tacos were flavorless and the taco shells were stale. Everyone's steaks were overcooked, over-salted, and not much flavor. One friend sent his ribeye back 3 times and they continued to overcook it. My bone in ribeye was cooked medium rare, as I had asked. But the steak just didn't have much flavor and the crab topping was dry and flavorless. The expediters also didn't know which dish went to which person; total fail. I gave it 2 stars because of few of the party enjoyed their chicken fried steak and the ambience was nice. However, we will not go back. $1700 bill. If we are all to meet up again in that part of town, we will definitely go to Taste of Texas. read more

I ordered 16 Oz prime rib steak and it was really good. Cooked perfectly to my liking. It was not chewy or dry. The side dish was mash potatoes and it was ok. The texture was not rich. It was creamy but didn't taste the potato flavor. The ambient was great, actually. We were to converse without yelling. Highly recommended. read more

Megan was our server at our large table, and she was so kind, patient and attentive. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Both levels are so nice and each offer their own vibe. My wife and I had dinner at the memorial city location. The service was fine, my wife ordered the chicken fried chicken and I had the chicken fried steak. My steak was fried so hard that the breading basically shattered when I used my fork and the meat was incredibly thin and burned to a crisp not to mention it was extremely salty. Basically a cracker, the mashed potatoes were nothing more than instant with chives mixed in. My wife's was not fried to oblivion but the chicken was incredibly thin and basically what you might get at Applebees. read more

The Haywire location in Houston was absolutely AMAZING!!! The location has total curb appeal. We were there last night, 9/2/24. We were celebrating my dear friend, Linda Walker's 65th birthday ! From the moment we drove up our welcoming experience began. The vallet attendants were professional, the hostess at the host stand were pleasant and very attentive. We did not have to wait!!! Our lovely table was upstairs on the 2nd level, over looking the nice street view. Our server, Allie, was professional and attentive as well. We ordered different entrees from the attractive menu. Today was the second time I went to Haywire. I took my team there for lunch. The service was great as was the food. This time I tried the chicken fried steak with green beans, and I asked them to swap the corn for the mashed potatoes. Our table ate the sampler platter, cornbread , Brussels sprouts, and broccolini as appetizers. Everything was great. I tried the redfish with crab last time, and ate the mashed potatoes. I also tried a bite of a friend's Mac and cheese and ribs. My favorites of everything I've eaten at Haywire is the redfish, corn, cornbread, queso, and elk tacos. I look forward to trying other items on the menu. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

I'm in disbelief writing this review because so much went wrong. For a bill over $100, I feel completely ripped off and would have preferred going to Taste of Texas instead. I heard the servers bickering like high school kids, and it took 15 minutes to be seated despite there being obvious available seating. Our server was slow, spending more time talking to the bartender than attending to us. The food was over-peppered, including the catfish, corn, and even the gravy--it felt like they just dumped it on. I order a medium fillet and I get an ultra rare steak? It's laughable...My wife's margarita tasted like cheap, artificial mix you'd get at a Chili's. I'm very disappointed, especially since a friend with high standards recommended this place. Something has clearly gone wrong here, and the owner needs to take serious steps to get things in order. You don't play with a Texans meal. read more

I'm really disappointed with our experience at Haywire. We came in to celebrate two birthdays and have family visiting, but unfortunately, the slow and inattentive service completely overshadowed the occasion. Our food took forever to arrive, and the waiter barely checked on us. My sister's dish came out wrong, and she had to wait even longer after it was sent back, only to end up eating her food cold while everyone else had finished. My fiancé asked for steak sauce, and it took an additional 30 minutes to bring it out--by the time it arrived, her food was already cold. To top it off, our waitress never even brought us the check; we had to ask the manager to take care of it. Overall, the service was a letdown and really ruined what should have been a special brunch. read more
