Been here so many times and I don't get tired of this place. This is the spot for work lunches, meetings, happy hour, special occasions and lunch. Their happy hour has good drink specials and they offer select items not sold normally like mini Wagyu sliders. Their lump crab dip is and the chefs favorite 4 are my favorite appetizers to share. My favorite dish I almost always order is the Chicken fried Chicken!! Everything is 10/10. I also order their steak salad and their cornbread muffins are some of my favorite!!!! I've been to Haywire twice now. Beautiful look and feel inside and the restaurant is huge, with two floors and an upstairs patio. Both times the restaurant was packed (Thursday and Saturday). Our server was great both times. The first time I had the appetizer sampler (5/5), chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes (5/5) and macaroni and cheese (1/5). The second time I went I had the Cowgirl dinner (2/5). Great idea and great price but I found the steak to be tough and the salad didn't have any flavor. I can't remember what drinks I had the first time but the second time I had lemon drops which were good and strong. I definitely recommend trying them out. read more

I had one of the worst service experiences. I had arrived around 5:30 pm and they were having two different events going on. Therefore it was packed and they couldn't see us. No problem about that, bar and outdoor patio seating were no reservation required. My party and I sat outside and we had tried to order at the bar, but we were told to wait for service. We did not receive any menu or water while being outside in 90° weather. When we went up to the bar, we were again told that we should go and wait outside for someone to serve us. We didn't get a drink until 6 PM and that wasn't because they came back out, we had to go back in and ask the bar. Thank goodness the waiter was kind we could still get happy hour deal that ended at 6 PM, but we wouldn't have had to cut it close if we actually got service. Otherwise, the drinks were a good price for happy hour, and they had a good amount of alcohol in them. The overall interior of the restaurant is very modern and classy. There was also a lot of seating outside of the event. They also have a parking deck next to the restaurant so parking is not an issue either, especially when it becomes packed. read more

I came here for the $30 cowgirl dinner, arriving around 11:00 AM right when they opened up. Unfortunately, the service was really not that great. When I walked in to sit at the bar on the lower level, the bartender was kind of unwelcoming and told me rather abruptly that the bar was closed and to go upstairs. So, I went upstairs and sat at the bar for an extra 10 minutes with no one coming over to help me. I finally had to track down a waitress, who was able to find someone to take my order, but it still took a while. To top it off, it was just me, and there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant at that time, so there's really no excuse for the delay. The staff seemed much more concerned with talking to one another versus paying attention to their customers and orders. They definitely need more attention to detail and to be a little bit more professional, not sure if it was just an off day or what. To make matters worse, they brought me the wrong dressing, and then tried to bring me the side of Caesar towards the end of my meal when I was already almost finished. No apology, nothing. Haywire is an absolutely beautiful restaurant, and I've been wanting to try them since they opened in Memorial City. We had queso and a charcuterie board to start, and you really can't go wrong with that. The $30 Cowgirl Dinner is such a great value, but I'm not sure if I'd recommend it. It looks like it was cooked correctly, but it still felt dry when eating. Perhaps they're not letting it rest long enough before cutting. The flavor was good, but I have a high expectations for Texas steak and am disappointed. Ugh I hate it when a steak is cooked to the correct internal temperature, but isn't rested properly for the juices to distribute. If you look at the pictures, you might be able to see what I mean. Had a great time here! The restaurant is modern but Texan with so much space and beautifully themed areas. The menu has a great selection of cocktails, sides, and main dishes that are all cooked in-house from scratch. Service was also great overall. We came for the August special, Cowgirl Dinner, which included steak, salad, fries, and a cocktail. I don't normally crave steak but it was cooked to perfection and so juicy! The apps and sides are also worth mentioning, particularly the pork belly and corn bread. The pork belly was crafted so well, with each piece paired with pepper and orange slices. The corn bread came as a muffin, so we ordered one per person as recommended by the waiter. It was delicious! The cocktails were strong but good, especially the margarita. This is in a great location right off the highway and would be fun to come with a group. I LOVE this place! The atmosphere is upscale cowboy-ish? Just trust me on that! The service has always been great, the food is 10/10, the ambiance and spacing is great, and the drinks are strong and delicious! I've had appetizers, drinks, entrees, and desserts and they always deliver. Even though they're always packed (highly recommend a reservation) the service is still on point and quick. Gosh my last visit meal was so amazing, I craved this creole fish dish again. In mid eating I had this hard plastic stuck in my teeth from my food, and once I removed it, it appeared like a plastic tag from a price tag or uncooked rice. It took a great while for my server to return, by the time she arrived I requested management, the manager lady spoke as if I planted it in my dish, that I sped over to purchase again from my first visit. She replied, " Nothing at all look like this in the place". Girlfriend are you serious? She didn't offer to replace my dish, to comp my meal. She was looking for reasons to charge me for my dish and the unwanted items it seems. Above all, No apology was offered neither. Her tone was very much accusing, was had me, the "victim feeling very suspect". You know "white only pies" vibes. I had to ask for a comp or redo and express how solutions are made during these type of events. Not sure if it was the female manager's lack of experience or incompetence, but her response was disturbing alone. The male manager spoke to me after dealing with the inexperienced female manager for a fair solution. The kitchen was closed so to remake the meal wasn't possible, instead he removed my dish from the bill, and provided a gift card (lesser value of the dish) but it was the gesture and expression of the current events that made it very necessary. The best way to describe this place is cowboy chic. Down home food with a little bit of elegance. There is valet parking available for $5 or you can self park in the lot or the garage. It is 2 stories with primary dining upstairs. There's a bar area and ample space for large groups. Service was very friendly and everything we had was good. I've come here a couple of times, and the service never disappoints. I always love trying different items here, and it just works every, single, time! We came in for a girls night, and to try the girl dinner that they had been promoting. It came with Steak, Fries and a Caesar Salad and cocktail, which I think is a perfect combo. It was just enough food. Before we started our meal, we ordered the Onion Rings appetizer, and they were so good. Came out super hot and crispy batter with a yummy aioli for dipping. The steak came out perfectly cooked to my liking, the fries, super yummy, wished I had more! And the salad was light and crisp. I opted for the espresso martini, which again, made to my liking! I also ordered another drink, a vodka martini, which was nice crisp and smooth. To round out our evening, we ordered the bread pudding for dessert. They ran out of ice cream, but it was not needed. This is one of the best bread pudding's I've ever had. It had a nice toasted bottom, and was warm and gooey throughout each bite. We hosted a customer dinner at Haywire. Our reservation was at 5:30pm. What a fun restaurant. They really leaned into the cowboy getup and barnyard decor. Initially we were guided upstairs, which was a whole other vibe on its own. A bit more casual than the downstairs area. That said, they ended up putting us downstairs at a table by the wine cellar that gave a more elevated experience. Overall service was great. We had the friendliest and most attentive server. She was on top of everything, and I loved her cheeriness and attitude. I got to give it to the efficiency of the kitchen staff too. Our food and drink orders came out in a timely manner considering how busy they were. We ordered a few appetizers to the table including a fried shrimp dish and what looked like a sampler plate. I picked at a shrimp and a green fried tomato from the sampler plate, which were tasty. I saw that the sampler plate also had onion rings, elk tacos, and queso. I had to save my appetite for the 13oz ribeye. I thought the cut of ribeye was nicely fatty and cooked perfectly medium rare. I did find my steak and side of green beans to be very salty though. read more

Party of 8 adults were given a tiny table that was best to seat 6. Our server was nice but seemed very busy. Service overall could've been much better. Very tasty and highly recommend. - For my main, I selected the chicken club and substituted the aioli with bbq sauce on the side. Just okay. I'll try something else next time. My husband and I tried Haywire for dinner around 5:00 p.m. without a reservation. We were told they were no longer accepting reservations or walk-ins for the evening, but there was seating available at the bar, so we were happy to have dinner there. We started with two happy hour cocktails and ordered the mini elk tacos as an appetizer. After our drinks arrived, we went ahead and ordered the Cowgirl Dinner. Unfortunately, our entrees came out before our appetizer. About 10 minutes after we received our meals, and only after asking our bartender about the status of the tacos, they finally arrived. The Cowgirl Dinner includes a drink, so we each ordered a margarita. When the bartender dropped them off, he told us to let him know what we thought. After one sip, we knew they weren't very good. We tried to be polite, but when he checked back with us again, we were honest. To his credit, he was very understanding and quickly remade both drinks. The second round was much better, and we appreciated how professionally he handled it. When we were ready to leave, we let our bartender know we'd like the check. Even though we were seated right next to one of the handheld payment terminals, it took nearly 15 minutes to get checked out. It appeared our bartender was overwhelmed and dealing with an issue on another guest's receipt, which delayed everything. We understood it was a busy night and genuinely tried to be patient because it was obvious he was doing his best. Before leaving, we spoke with the manager, Dana, to let her know it looked like her bartenders could really use some help because they seemed overwhelmed. Her response was simply, "Yeah, I know, they've been busy." My husband is a restaurant manager himself, so we understand how challenging busy shifts can be, but we also know management plays a big role in supporting the staff during those times. Unfortunately, she didn't seem interested in stepping in to help. While waiting for valet, my husband went back inside to ask the hostess for the manager's name. He noticed Dana behind the bar at that point, but instead of assisting the staff, she was on her phone. The food was genuinely delicious, and our bartender was kind despite being stretched too thin. The biggest issue wasn't the bartender, it was the lack of support from management. With better leadership during peak hours, this could have been a great experience. I recently came here for a group happy hour and had heard lots of hype surrounding this place. The vibe is very western and reminds me of the Rustic. This was quite timely, as we were coming as part of a Rodeo group! Parking can be limited, as it's valet or self-park in the garage. I decided to self-park and found a spot on level 3. Luckily, the garage has direct access to the restaurant so it wasn't a far walk. The restaurant itself is massive with 2 stories and expansive seating on each floor. There are a lot of rooms for events and parties as well as a large patio on both floors. Our group had a large table on the 2nd story patio which gave us a nice view looking towards Memorial City. It was a breezy night, however they brought over an outdoor heater to our table keep us warm. Happy hour is Monday-Friday from 2-6pm and includes $7 select cocktails, wine, and beer, and $7 chips & queso, elk tacos, and sliders. I started out with a Bourbon Smash cocktail which includes bourbon, berries, lemon, simple syrup, and a mint garnish. This was nice and refreshing and was a bit more berry-forward than I was expecting. I would prefer a little more on the bourbon and a little less on the berry. I also got the happy hour red wine which was a red blend and really liked this one! For food, I got the sliders. I think these are exclusive to happy hour but are essentially 2 x mini cheeseburgers from their menu. These were very good - the patty was smash-like and was topped with cheese and sautéed onions. Would definitely order again! I also tried one of my friend's elk tacos, which were actually delicious. I hadn't had elk before but it did not taste gamey at all and the taco seasoning used on the meat was very tasty. My only (minor) complaint was the service. Our servers were also the two bartenders on the 2nd floor, so if the bar was busy, we didn't see our servers for a while. Also, one of the food orders in our group got mixed up: instead of a chips & queso, an elk taco plate was brought out. It took a while to get this remedied due to not having dedicated servers. I look forward to coming back here and trying the chicken fried steak! It's of my favorite foods and I heard they do it great here. Haywire on Gessner was such a fun spot for a birthday dinner! I came with a group of about 10, and it worked really well for a larger dinner without feeling crowded. The decor is beautiful -- a polished Western vibe that feels modern and warm,. There's also an upstairs area that would be great for a more private dinner, with a nice view of the space. Bonus points: they sell candles in their signature scent, and they smelled delightful. The restaurant also seems like a great option for larger events. There was actually a wedding reception happening the night we went. Parking was easy too, with an attached garage and valet available. This restaurant had been on my list for a while, but I finally made it there one weekend during Rodeo season. I didn't make reservations and decided to just walk in. It turns out the Yelp reviews were fairly accurate as the service was lacking and the food wasn't the best. The host indicated all reservations were full and there were no walk-ins available, so my only choice was to try and find a seat at the bar. After looking at both bar areas (upstairs and down), that was useless and proved to be the entire evening as no one ever got up! My next best bet was their lounge area. Over there, I could view patrons coming in and going to the host/hostess stand then waiting on seats, so it seemed like they were allowing some parties after me to get on a waiting list. It made no sense since many tables upstairs were actually empty. I grabbed a menu at the host stand, sat in a 2 top in the lounge area, decided on the elk tacos, a filet, and blackened snapper. Then went over to the bar and ordered with the bartender. It seems like this restaurant's whole business model is a little off. The bartender came back about 10 mins later with the drinks and 2 small glasses of water half-way filled, while other tables received whole pitchers of water. First dish to arrive was the elk tacos, they say mini but these are basically a regular-sized taco and there are 3 to an order. They're very good but just seemed to be missing something, maybe lettuce or hot sauce? The elk is very mild, zero gaminess, and almost tasted like ground beef. The next dish to come out was the filet cooked to order. This ended up being very tender and probably a choice cut. It came with brussel sprouts which were ok, but not prepared in away I'm used to. They were mushy, with feta cheese and red jalapeños. The last dish was the snapper. With the first bite, I could tell there was something off as the fish was not fresh. I had the waiter replace this with the blackened catfish and shrimp, which turned out to be very tasty; however, the whole ordeal was just a hassle. My friend invited me here for a birthday lunch on Monday around 1 pm for a group of 4. There is a parking lot and garage. It was busy and I did have to circle around given to find a spot the lot but they do offer valet as well. I was first to arrive but there wasn't anyone to greet me for about 5 minutes despite seeing a couple employees so I felt little awkward sitting and waiting. I did admire the beautiful downstairs sitting area and massive bar. The Christmas decor made it feel cozy. Once the remaining party arrived, we were led upstairs which was just as beautiful with the multiple chandeliers, bar and nice view of Memorial area. The server was nice overall but had a flat affect so it didn't feel as welcoming despite celebrating a birthday. I ordered the steak salad medium rare with a side of in house cornbread and it was so fresh and delicious! The meat was tender and cooked as specified. I had to leave early and ordered the highly raved bread pudding to go. I wish the server warned me there was ice cream because it completely melted into soup by the time I got home. The last time I was at Haywire I dined on the first floor. The first floor was full, so I was directed upstairs. The place is so much larger than I imagined. Haywire is all things elegant and sophisticated. There is a canapy of chandeliers that creates drama in the room. Upstairs for your dining pleasure you can choose the main dining room, private rooms and indoor and outdoor bar eating. I choose a chicken cobb salad and a glass of Prosecco. Omg the cob was so freshly made where each ingredient was distinctive. My grilled chicken was actually grilled not microwaved. My bacon was crispy without any fatiness. The tomatoes were sweet like cherries and juicy. Before I made my healthy choice, I had a nail biting decision, baby back ribs, double cheeseburger or meatloaf. This place is super cool and so laid back. The balcony bar is inviting and the TVs make watching afternoon college football easy to do. My husband really wanted a steak so we stopped in and grabbed one. I just wanted a great salad and landed on the cobb. He devour his steak and claimed it was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. He loves a good side salad and this one might be one of his all time faves. My Cobb was delish... and HUGE. I didn't finish it and he had the leftovers for dinner. So we nearly had the place to ourselves. But we were always checked in on by the server, which I liked. Food- I had already eaten a pretty heavy breakfast at another spot. So I wanted something light for this lunch for me. Of course I had already gone over the menu prior too, which is my usual habit. I decided on the soup & salad, the price is a great deal for $11.95. I wasn't sure what kind of salad it came with, but the server was kind enough to allow me to choose the cesar salad option if it was possible, and it was, yay for me. The salad was actually more substantial than I thought, which was a win. It was the gem cesar salad and it was very yummy. I was too full to enjoy the spicy tortillia soup, so took that home. When I had it at home, it was really good. I would def get that again. I had a bite of pork belly that was yum. And a bit of the chicken fried chicken as well. All of there entrees are homey American style food. Everyone enjoyed there meal and left full. Could definitely see myself coming back to cozy up by the fire at there outside patio with a hot toddy if feeling spicy, or tea. This place is so unique. Right here in the middle of memorial city. Great place to host corporate events, birthday parties or just have a great time with family and friends. My plan was to book my birthday here last year but unfortunately other things happen and I was unable to. But they were so helpful and helping me set up and book the reservation as well as continuous communication to assist me. The menu is broad, the drinks are great and the service is phenomenal. I had such high expectations for Haywire after a great first visit, but this experience was truly unacceptable. Weeks prior, I made reservations for a party of 10 for a family birthday dinner. Realizing I needed to add 2 additional guests, I called 48 hours in advance to request the additional seating. I was repeatedly told no, by both staff and the manager. They said it would be too difficult for them to add 2 extra seats to my table because they were booked solid. We even arrived an hour earlier than our reservation time to request in person, but was told no again and warned that extra guests could be turned away as they were not taking any more reservations or walk-ins. We witnessed walk-ins being seated, by the way. This back-and-forth pressured me to uninvite two close friends, who were already in route, in order to avoid putting my guests in an awkward, embarrassing and confusing situation. Then, right before seating, they suddenly said they could accommodate the 2 extra seats after all that stress! It was too late for my friends as they were already headed home. As an apology, I felt compelled to purchase dinner for my friends; still patronizing a business that did not see my business as valuable. Silly me. Meanwhile, there were visibly several empty tables in our section the entire time. Our server, Gabriel, was great. He was attentive, personable and consistent. He more than deserved the additional tip I provided on top of the obligatory 20%. However, the reservation experience was poorly handled and unnecessarily stressful. To make matters worse, I was also charged the 20% gratuity on the to-go orders for my guests I had to turn away because they would not separate these orders from the table bill. Go figure. In a city like Houston where the food scene is competitive, diverse, and constantly evolving, ambiance alone isn't enough. You can have all the fancy chandeliers, ultra-chic aesthetics, and hype, but if the guest experience is mishandled, that's what people remember. This is what makes or break a business. Great place love the vibe, super country and chic. There is parking in the garage or valet . So reservation was at 9:30. They said the kitchen closed at 9:45 that didn't make any sense to me. I feel like the waiter was trying to rush us a little bit because of that and we were celebrating a birthday. The food on the other hand, the steak was recommended to us, but I've had better steak that was actually moist and when you get a ribeye it's usually Moist. The bread pudding was 10/10 def get it. Haywire Houston is such a nice spot to hang out. The outdoor seating is perfect for a chill brunch or a happy hour date, especially when there's a breeze. They've got big fans out there too which definitely helps on warmer days. Inside feels a little more upscale and would be great for a date night or dinner with friends. It's cozy but still has that luxury vibe inside. We shared a bunch of dishes and everything was really good. The toast was done perfectly, crispy and warm. One thing I wasn't a fan of was the croutons in the Caesar salad. They were like cornbread and kind of melted in your mouth in a weird way. Just not what I expected. Service was friendly and overall we had a great time. I'd go back for sure. read more

Friendly, courteous top notch valet opened both doors arriving/departing, $5 Valet and efficient valet app. Greeted upon entry at Hostess Stand, acknowledged Open Table reservation, immediately directed upstairs via stairs or elevator including the name of my waiter serving my table upstairs. 5/5 Isaiah, courteous and personable waiter 5/5, picked his brain of his menu favorites. It's always a plus to learn of the staff and guests menu highlights. Full Bars on both floors, private dining, high top tables, smaller tables to accommodate any party size. The noise was very loud in the full medium sized 2nd floor was noisy due to at least 3 company parties, and TVs along the wall. Tons of chandeliers, great ambiance and soft music playing, waitstaff bustling about the restaurant. 5/5 Great food selections, reasonably priced, and portioned. Ordered the appetizer board- fried onion rings, fried green tomatoes, queso, elk tacos, redfish(smaller cut) shrimp sauce, mashed potatoes, salad, pork chop (looks and tastes identical to Perry's Famous Pork chop), Mac and cheese, stroganoff, and chile chocolate cake. 5/5 I will return! read more

I'll keep it short and sweet, the restaurant ambiance is beautiful and elegant. The service was amazing! Brandon was the best waiter I've ever had at any restaurant. He was very attentive and informative on the restaurant. He gave me some history of the restaurant and made suggestions of the local favorites. The food was beautifully presented and very delicious. The only flaw I encountered there was the valet team. They did not acknowledge the fact of me wanting to valet. The 3 guys were just there playing on their phones and couldn't care less about parking my vehicle. So I end up parking in the garage. But my overall experience was great. Happy Yelping read more
