Since moving to Houston, I'd heard a lot about this restaurant. It's well-lit and open. Their menu is massive. I could not decide at all what I wanted, but I certainly appreciated the waitress who were super nice and patient as I took my time before finally deciding on the rodeo style burger. The bread was toasted to perfection. The ground beef had a nice savory combination with the classic cheese and onions. Instead of having the fries, l I chose the whiskey and maple Brussels sprouts as a side, which was the star of the show! With plenty of seating available, I can definitely foresee returning for a larger brunch party especially to take advantage of their patio seating.

walked in and we were immediately sat. Our server was a little slow but the other staff was very helpful and attentive. Our food came rather quick and was delicious! The biscuit is huge but very soft and amazing! Ambiance is very nice and can either be casual or slightly elevated! Definitely a great go to for the memorial area.

This is my second time coming to State Fare just a different location. I can vouch that both SugarLand and Memorial City locations are great service and food. We had Fried Green tomatoes which didn't make the picture. They were one of the best I had. Cooked & seasoned to perfection, not to soft not to hard, jusssst right!!!. The batter also wasn't too thick and was just right. It comes with a crab remoulade on top. My friend got the burger which was huge. It was a lot to tangle with but he said it was great. The portion sizes are good for the price. I had a nice glass of Chardonnay and my guest a table side smoky old fashioned. He was our waiter, if you go I'd definitely request him for attentive service.

We enjoyed every bit of this visit. The food and service was top notch! Everyone ordered a variety of items at the table, and everyone was pleased. The service was excellent. And their ambience was top-tier.

Great experience from start to finish at this location. Finding parking was easy as the multi-level garage is connected to the strip and free. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. Our server was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and quick to make sure we got our orders in before Happy Hour ended (which we really appreciated!) The prices were on point. There was a small hiccup with the Old Fashioned but they were quick to make it right, and the food was fresh and flavorful, just what you'd hope for from a spot like this. Definitely caught off guard with the spice level of the Jalepeno Poppers (almost died haha) but they were so good! Another server even made his rounds to our table, ensuring everything was fine. It is clear the team values good service and good timing. Overall, a smooth, enjoyable visit that definitely earns a return trip.

Almost there. Service and atmosphere: The restaurant's design, decor, and overall aesthetic deserves 5 stars. The seating arrangement flow and restaurant cleanliness was very good too. Service was just okay. Our server couldn't explain dish on the many when asked, thus we had to ask for help another server who had more knowledge. Our server wasn't too attentive either. 3 stars here. Food and drinks: We were excited about the food by reading the menu, however, the dishes we ordered didn't quite deliver. The portions were too big, lucked seasoning and flavours, and the biscuit and chicken plate didn't arrive with any gravy. I am glad that the fried chicken was done well and wasn't overdone. That was the main positive. We didn't try any cocktails or wines during our visit but you definitely can opt for some at this establishment. Pricing: $$$ we liked the place, ambiance, and location but I can't justify the price points based on the quality of food and service received during the visit.

Great atmosphere and a in a nice location. I would recommend placing a reservation before coming, the wait times are ridiculous. The food was decent however way overpriced. I ordered the state fare breakfast and truly enjoyed the spicy maple bacon. I think that was the highlight of the dish for me. Overall I had a decent time.

I came for brunch in a Saturday. To be fair, we were a bit difficult as the number of attendees kept growing and we had to change tables. Our server was super gracious about it and the service was the best part of the brunch. We ended up with 10-12 people. Not a single person enjoyed their food. I first ordered the salmon with couscous under the "lighter fare" section. When it came, it was drenched in "cilantro" oil which was really just oil. The salmon was also seemingly fried and very oily. Nothing had any taste whatsoever. For something labeled as "lighter" I was shocked and honestly grossed out by the amount of oil. I requested to send it back and try something else and my request was granted. I believe the manger (or maybe owner as I saw her at the best bites competition) brought out my second item and asked for feedback on the first which was nice. I decided to go full glutton with the birria Benedict since my light choice didn't work. The birria was dry and not flavorful. The waffle underneath was also dry. I doused it in hot sauce and just ate the egg and meat. Everyone else's review of their food ranged from edible to okay, nothing better than that. Their classic breakfast was huge but again the people that got it had nothing else positive to say. The atmosphere was nice and not too noisy but I would not return. I wish I had gotten to try their entry for the rodeo best bites competition as they won an award and I'd like to know what I missed out on at brunch. PS: free parking in the deck or valet out front. It's a VERY busy area and parking can be a hassle even in the deck so go early

Disappointing is the best word to use for my experience. Spent over $200 for us to barely see our two servers. Service was nonexistent and food was mid tier considering what they're charging for it. Place was dead for a Sunday brunch but somehow still barely got service. Left the place with dirty plates still on the table because prebus and teamwork don't exist at this location. Good espresso martini is the only positive of this experience.

Great place with amazing food and drinks! Came here to celebrate my friends birthdays and it was a great brunch. Our server was absolutely the friendliest and made our time the best with great food and drinks suggestions. We shared the chips and queso and added brisket to the queso which was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend as a sharable. I had the state fare breakfast and the margarita flight. The state fare breakfast was a hugeeee portion. I could NOT finish it, definitely not a bad thing. The cathead biscuit was probably one of my favorite things surprisingly. All super delicious. The margarita flight was a great one to try if you want to try different drinks. The lavender and strawberry margaritas were my favorites. Our server surprised my feelings with fried Oreos and ice cream which were also delicious. Good place for families, groups, dates or casual. Would definitely come again.

Always a good time here. I haven't been in a while but I'm happy I was able to stop in and enjoy a meal with a friend. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my friend got the burrito. The chicken was hot and seasoned well and the waffle crispy and fluffy. Burrito was flavorful and fufilling. Is definitely Texas-sized. We both got the mimosa flight. Usually it comes with 4 different flavors( orange, pineapple, grapefruit and cranberry) but we we opted out of the grapefruit. Or waiter was attentive and friendly and the restaurant was clean eventhough it was slightly busy. I usually visit the Sugarland location yet this is convenient and right off the freeway. Parking can be a hassle but valet is avaliable for $8.

    Cute interior!

Frozen margarita flight? YES please! If you're feeling the Texas heat, you need to come here to cool off. The food is...average tasting. Not wow, but also not terrible. However, the service and vibe is what keeps me coming back. I typically come here for Happy Hour because the prices and options are great. Some of my faves: SW Salmon Cakes Smoked Ribs Smoked Chicken Nachos The margarita flights are a MUST. Don't drink too fast though. That brain freeze hit hard! Parking is tricky. I typically try to find a parking nearby or just walk a bit further. They do have garages and valet.

Visited State Fare Kitchen off the recommendation of a friend and I was not disappointed in the least. The place itself is cute has a bit of a swanky diner vibe. The barstool seats have a back and swivel which are worth half a star by itself IMO. Our server was sweet and had such a friendly and warm personality. She checked on us several times as did one of the food runners. On to the food itself OUTSTANDING. One of the best queso & guac I've had recently (get the birria topping). I got the chicken fried steak and it was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and crispy steak. Good hash browns. And the biscuit was the size of my face but still tender with a delicious jam. Will be visiting again.

Ask the Community - State Fare Kitchen & Bar

If i have a party of six can we all be able to get our own bills or is there no split bills?

    Your own bill,

Are there any booths and high chairs available for kids at the memorial location?

    Yes for both

How late is brunch served on Saturday and Sunday?

How large of a party will they split the ticket?

    Every one

Is there direct access to the outdoor dining patio without entering inside the restaurant?

    Yes

Do they still have the Monte Cristo sandwich?

We do not have that on our menu at this time.

How many of my party needs to be present in order to be seated? Example: If I have a reservation for 10, yet 7 are present, can we still be seated?

When I went, they asked if our whole party was there before seating.

    Are masks mandatory?

No but encouraged when you leave your table

Is the GFD (the fried jalapeños, etc.) only available during happy hour?

    Yes this is correct.

Thinking of booking a dinner reservation. Good for a 2 year old?

I've seen lots of kids in there. I'm sure they will seat you away from the bar is you wish. It's separated by partitions. You'll love State Fare!

Any suggestions? Planning on stopping by in a few min and want to know if there are any photo worth dishes or drinks ?

Chicken fried steak and their ceviche both dishes I've had and feel the presentation is pleasing to the eye.

Is this like community dining? Can you get your own table or do you have to sit next to a bunch of people at a long table?

We have a few communal dining tables. We also have lots of individual tables. Feel free to call us at (832) 831-0950 to make a reservation!

What kind of happy hour specials do they have?

I love their margaritas but they also have several cocktails for around $6 that are also great. My favorite HH food is their poutine.

Do you have a private room?

No they don't unfortunately but the booths feel pretty secluded and there's also an outdoor area!

What times are your happy hour?

    4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday - Friday

Is brunch served on the weekend only or everyday?

    Only on weekends.

They're located in a shopping center with several other businesses, including a cat vet right next door. While it was busy, I didn't have trouble finding a parking spot. Ambiance (4/5): This is part of where By Popular Demand (BPD) shines. The interior is trendy, with both tabletop seating and more comfortable chairs and sofas. There's a small patio in the front and a larger one on the side. There aren't a ton of seats inside, so think of it as a smaller, more intimate bar. Service (3.5/5): A little slow to start out with as it took our waitress a good while to come and take our order (we were sitting on the front patio). She did apologize for the delay, and she was friendly from there on out, so things improved throughout our evening there. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so I was on a liquid diet. I have heard they have a pretty awesome steak night on Mondays though. Next time around! Drinks (3.5/5): While they have a full bar, BPD is a cocktail bar. They have 10-12 craft cocktails, plus everything else you would expect at a bar. I went with That Cucumber Drink. I'm always a fan of any cocktail that incorporates cucumber. It was one of the few items on the menu that stood out to me. A decent number of of the offerings are more of your standard cocktails (margaritas, ranch waters, etc.) and a good number have brown liquor (while I prefer clear liquor). Not the best menu for my taste, but that's not to say it's not a solid menu. Next time around, I'll have to stop by for steak night or to try out their food menu.

Simply caution.
