Terrible wait inside for a burger. 20+ minutes on at Saturday at 3:00. They are getting the drive thru served in less than 5 minutes. Bad way to run a store. read more

I I was shocked when I asked my coworker where her amazing salad with a ton of grilled chicken was from and she said "Hat Creek." This is certainly not a "health food" restaurant, but they have a ton of healthy and great tasting options. I like that any burger can be made into a turkey burger. I am a drive thru fanatic and there are so few places with healthy options and a drive thru. I also love meeting up with friends who have kids here because we can have beers while the kids play on the playground. They have consistently friendly customer service and go the extra mile to make your experience great. read more

The food isn't bad, the issue is they consistently mess up the order. Whether its not putting the burger on the right bun, forgetting the drinks, or wrong condiments (plain should be very easy) - at least 50% of the time something will be wrong with your order. read more

I was pleasantly surprised!! What could one think of a burger company who filled the space of an already delicious Arby's restaurant? What I got was...a burger pure and simple. I do mean that in a good way!! I loved the fact that you could actually taste the freshness!! I actually felt good eating it! I must say that I do prefer a thicker french fry, but my dining partner whole heartedly disagreed, so I guess it's my loss!! I am also looking forward to tasting their cookies and cream milkshake...I've heard it cures what ails you!! read more

Hat Creek - # 2 - Burgers Near Me - Austin, Texas

Been here a couple times for lunch, and it's been great both times. They offer a "Little Hat" (single patty) or "Bit Hat" (double patty) burger, plus turkey burgers. Haven't tried the turkey yet, but I may give it a go next time. The Little Hat is definitely not little, and both times has come out very juicy and tasty. Their beef is very fresh and never frozen, which I'm sure adds to the deliciousness of this burger. The fries are hand-cut, and they leave the skins on, which I love. Very flavorful. Service is fast and friendly. Interior is pretty basic, no-frills. It's comfortable enough to sit and eat your lunch, but not really somewhere you'd want to linger and hang with friends for an extended period. Definitely has a fast-food vibe. (Unlike the actual food!) The restaurant was very clean both times I've been here. Also like how they repurposed the Arby's sign out front. :) read more

Ugh. I love burgers, and I love so many indie burger joints (and chains too) in this town. I was so excited to try Hat Creek, but boy was I disappointed. We picked up takeout the other day, and the first impression was bad--the restaurant was dirty, floors and tables, and the staff seemed rushed and not particularly friendly. Oh well, we were there for food, so. . . We ordered some chow and took it a very short distance home. I know that takeout doesn't always travel well and that you should expect slight sogginess, BUT this food was so slimy and wet and gnarly that it was inedible. The french fries were completely soaked in grease such that they weren't really fries at all, but rather a tennis ball-sized potatoey, shiny, slimy clump. I tried to pull some apart from the clump and they felt like worms. They all went into the trash. :( The burgers were cold, and the pickles and tomatoes had been oddly piled on all on one side, so the top half of the burgers was sliding off and crumpled. The whole thing was so greasy that the bottom bun became dripping wet with grease and compressed into this paper-thin, doughy mess. I had to scrape it off. Add to that, our order was wrong. One burger was supposed to be straight-up from the menu, the other was supposed to have no mustard and no onions, and they managed to somehow get not one but both of those wrong, so we had to rebuild the burgers and transfer onions. Not that it mattered, because really the things were pretty much inedible, and we ended up sort of using the patties on our own bread to make sandwhiches. Lame. Dude, it was a joke, and it wasn't cheap, either! I won't waste my money there again. Bummer. read more

The restaurant is pretty good and great for family. It cost me $45 to feed 3 adults and 2 children. We enjoyed the experience of dinning outside on benches. The customer service is great and food good. read more

I think it is a little over priced, but that is because I MUST get a milkshake every time. Super good! Burgers are fine. Nothing wrong, nothing great. Its nerdy but I like the fry sauce options. Surprisingly I learned they have a decent breakfast too. Eggs, potatoes, sausage for $5! And I saw a flyer for $1 beer one day a week. Decent kid playground for not being a chain fast food. read more

It's a decent hamburger joint. The main reason to come here is the 2 story playescape for the kids. You can have a beer with dinner, so that's good. The big hat is the same as a little hat with just an additional hamburger patty. For me the little hat and eating my kids extra fries is enough. The parking lot is often full, but you might be able to find street parking. If not you can keep on driving down the road. read more

I had their signature burger and fries. The burger was a bit dry and not worth the price point. The fries were good and the fry sauce options were great and the sauces had great flavor. I'd eat here again but wouldn't be in my top 3 choices. read more

Not bad - Small patties, not really what I expected, but they were tasty none the less. Pretty good fries. The interior could have been cleaned up a bit - I know it's just a simple style burger shop, but in the middle of the day there was no one but us there. We might go again but I think agree we like Mighty Fine or Elevation Burger better. Oh and the bathroom was totally disgusting. Fix that. read more

I enjoyed my Big burger and fries. I like that I can have a beer or wine with my burger. The playscape was nice, but leaned a little towards "Lord of the Flies" around 7 p.m., if you know what I mean. It's not big, so at peak play time it was a bit crowded. For the price, the burgers should come with fries, not be an additional cost. I will go back again. read more

Burgers are smaller but AWESOME. Got the mixed fries, great choice. Strawberry shake was AMAZING. Fun place to eat. read more

Hat Creek - Mixed fries - Burgers Near Me - Austin, Texas

Solid burger joint with lots of great options for the kids. My favorite is the "Signature Burger", which comes topped with their house made jalapeno sauerkraut. If you're gluten- free you can get your burger on lettuce, or go for the delicious chicken nuggets. The fries are more like shoestring and always perfectly cooked. They have a delicious veggie burger...you can please just about anyone here. Thursday nights are crowded with the $1 beer special. Yes, that's right $1 drafts from Strangeland Brewery. The customer service is exemplary, with a friendly staff that truly seems interested in making sure you have a pleasant experience. Did I mention the $1 drafts? read more

Good burgers. I will continue to go here but they are beyond stingy with sauces and often mess up on your order.

This place? Definitely no big deal, and overpriced considering what you get, which isn't much. Better than Mighty Dry (which is the worst of the premium burger places in Austin), not nearly as good as Five Guys or Mooyah's, and about on a par with the much over-rated P Terry's. I mean, I'm glad the cows ate grass before they were slaughtered and all, and it really makes me feel less guilty when I eat their meat, but... Well, it's just a burger. I've eaten thousands of them, right? What's more, the dank, smelly ghost of Arby's pervades this place in a big way, and it's not pleasant. Anyway, Dan's is better than all of them put together. read more

Went through the drive thru today for a quick bite... but there was nothing quick about it. There were two cars in front of my and I probably waited a solid 10 minutes. I wouldn't have minded waiting if I were inside, but it's a drive thru. It's supposed to be fast. Anyway, I finally got my food, a "Big Hat burger" and fries. The menu is not very descriptive so I didn't realize I was actually getting a double cheeseburger, which is not something I would normally order, but it's fine. I got it home and dug in. I would've given 5 stars based on the food. It's a pretty standard burger and fries, but I like that there are options like a lettuce wrap instead of a bun, and the fries were nice and crispy and the right amount of salty. And I got their cherry limeade, which was way too tart and syrupy all at the same time. Just kind of funky. Bottom line is that its good if you're right there and want a burger. But don't expect fast service from the drive thru and good luck guessing at the menu. I probably won't be back... read more

Intro: So staff and the bathrooms were all good. Nice friendly white girl to welcome me and overall general cleanliness. Food: I open the bag, and the fries... are wrapped just like In and Out. Just... like... In and Out! if you're going to copy the chain police make it look a little different Minus One Star. I pull out the burger. Before I unwrap it, the size itself immediately brings down the rating. For a $12 meal the burger-size should be bigger without question!! The taste is great! A nice blend of flavors. I would like to try another. However, the serving size needs to grow first! That or someone else pay for it. read more

This place is a beating. Waited 30 minutes for a cheeseburger. Tea empty. Fry sauce empty. Tons of dirty tables. Numerous others waiting with us. Never fear, the folks in the drive thru were being taken care of. read more

Just would like to let everyone who visits this place to know that the food is great, the service is awesome, and my son loves the play scape. The true reason for this review is due to an employee named Jacob. He's extremely friendly, the care and genuine care he has for his guest is incredible. He made it a point to converse with myself and 3 year old son. Not just once but multiple times. He remembered our names and just really made our experience so much better. This is what customer service is all about and should be! If anyone in management should read this, look into this employee and grow him in your company. If you don't I'll hire him!! read more

Extremely difficult to find parking near this restaurant in the Domain. Food is way over priced for the quality. Cashier had trouble understanding English to take the order. Seven dollars for small mediocre fries and coke. Three piece tiny nuggets for kid, small fries and Apple juice $6 . Save your money and go virtually anywhere else read more

good burgers friendly people and the playground helped. Sat there for a long time while the grandkids played

We eat at the Burnet Hat Creek on a regular basis. It is my 4 year olds favorite place to go. The food is great, the staff is always incredibly kind and welcoming, it's always clean, and the playscape is the best. This morning we had a Pajama Party there for our kiddo's birthday and it was the best experience ever. Fun, laid back, easy, the kids and parents had a great time and the staff was so nice and kind. It was cold outside but the heaters were on and the plastic walls were down and it felt so cozy and full of love. Thanks Hat Creek Burnet for being one of our favorite neighborhood joints. read more

After months of wavering I finally decided to go try Hat Creek and it sure turned out to be a bad idea. I was certainly attracted by the 'all natural hand formed patties' and the 'super fresh produce'. Angus beef may be known for its tenderness and flavor but Hat Creek did its part in removing both those natural characteristics. When I read 'hand-formed', I envision thick juiciness. What I got was a mallet smashed thin dry meat patty on top of a salad which was pretty far from 'super fresh'. It may have been 'super fresh' days ago but certainly wasn't anymore. Needless to say, I'm not going back. I'm adding a pic of the wilted leaves and possibly a moldy tomato but not sure... read more

Been here several times and I've always had SUPER friendly service, and good food. I like the hand cut fries, and the turkey burgers are tasty and put less guilt in my soul and less fat on my ass. Win-win! They also have the option to nix the bun in favor of lettuce, as well as putting your burger on top of a salad. Another huge plus for me, THEY HAVE FOUNTAIN COKE ZERO! I am addicted and having trouble finding it anywhere so this was major points for me. I've never dined in, drive thru only so far, but the people in the window are always the absolute nicest I have encountered with fast food. They make most stuff to order so it takes a while like Whataburger, but I don't mind. read more

Decent spot for families with small kids but food is average at best. It's all the standard fried, bad for you fare. Also the service is slow. 30+minute wait this afternoon with little empathy from staff mean we won't be coming back. read more

Finally giving up on these guys. Quality going down and prices going up. Not sure how I spent $11 on a kids chicken nugget meal and a small mediocre burger, but I did. The playscape is falling apart and in general the place is run down. All this on top of: last time I was here I had to alert staff to a drunk old man on the patio, so I guess that's who they are attracting with their $1 beer nights. read more

My kids love it, therefore I love it. But seriously, they have great burgers, the signature salad is my other go-to if you want to be a little healthier. I recently even tried the veggie burger and it is was solid as is the turkey burger. The fries are good, we usually get one regular and one sweet potato and share amongst our family of 4. There are options for everyone... simple and delicious without being a greasy burger. read more

Our first time at Hat Creek burgers. Great food and price. Loved fried pickles. Clean dinning room.

Great burgers, fast friendly service, good prices, laid back dining atmosphere!

Went there earlier today with the family . Very good service by th yong lady at the front. The burgers wer good but not out of this world. The price was about 12 dollars a burger when you add the burger, fries and drink. read more

3 stars for having a vegan veggie burger, but it wasn't very flavorful and the fries were awful. The few that weren't a soggy stuck together blob of mush were fine but most of them were a soggy stuck together blob of mush... They also use styrofoam cups which I didn't even know was a thing anymore. read more

I was super excited about a cute and fast burger joint around the corner from my house. I was even more exited about a drive-thru. Vegans don't get that luxury. Oh and vegans don't get to eat here either. The Hot Dang burgers boasts an "all grain patty." So I order one, and look forward to a fast grainy and nutty burger. It was nice, a bit crumbly, but good. A bit pricey with fries and a drink, but still. Fast food! The meat eater ordered a couple of burgers and said they were just what they should be : good, simple burgers. The restaurant was okay, nothing to punch a baby about. The service was fast, and employees wore creepy and uncomfortable smiles. So after eating the Hot Dang "all grain" burger, I discover there are eggs in it. Hey, Hat Creek, it's not an "all grain burger" if you put eggs in it. It's a "mostly grain, but not vegan friendly, or if eggs kill you... Sorry, burger." Thanks for the letdown. Won't be heading your way. Again. Ever. read more

Every time I go to this location for breakfast, lunch or dinner the service and food are exceptional. You almost forget that you are at a fast food joint. The food is always fresh to order as well as the coffee. Very kid friendly with tons of activities. I'm glad we live down the street from such a great place! read more

Good burgers but impossibly long wait times for them to come out. Came on a Thursday at lunch time and there was not a lot of people in the restaurant only a couple of cars in drive thru and they still took 45 minutes for two hamburgers. They did apologize afterwards that they had a high ticket time on orders, but don't come here if don't have time to wait at least an hour read more

don hit it pretty much on the head. food from a trailer. specifically - burgers from a window in the trailer. the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly - and i, unlike don, do not know the owner / founder. we went in the middle afternoon, a slow time. the guy behind the register came out and showed my son a fun magic trick with a rubber band. that is old time friendliness. service was fast, but - minus one star for f-ing up my order, i ordered lettuce and got tomato instead. i don't really like raw tomatoes. call me a freak. whatever. i know how i like my burgers, well...i thought i did. i liked this one with a tomato on it! who knew. the cheese i chose was cheddar and its flavor was more than you'd expect from a trailer. it had a tiny bite to it. nice surprise there. also available - american, pepperjack, swiss. all the toppings were fresh and crispy (where appropriate) as promised. and the meat tasted... well.... like meat! a nice thing for "fast" food. all on a wheat bun. nice touch. i like my fries crispy. these were fresh and tasty, but not crispy. it was nice to see cherry lime-ade on the menu, but i didn't get too much cherry flavor in there. it was a nice lime-ade tho. notes - for now, they are cash only, but promise that they are working toward accepting credit cards. and as don said, the location is behind star bar, on nueces before you get to ranch 616. boring review, i know... i'm just not feeling incredibly eloquent at the moment. maybe it's a burger and fry coma. also see the site here: http://freshcheeseburgers.com/ read more

Best fries on earth. They are cut fresh each day and I have yet to find a place that can beat 'em! Burgers are good, much better when ordered on a wheat bun I believe-I only wish they offered veggie burgers, which are my fav. Aside from that, for a tiny trailer behind Star Bar, this place rocks. read more

Not your typical burger place. I was really impressed by the cleanliness, modern decor and fun environment. They have a lot of menu options including breakfast items, chicken, tacos, milkshakes and of course burgers. I had a burger with jalapeños and it was outstanding, especially for the price. I also enjoyed eating it on the cool patio. They even have a play area which makes it a great place to come if you have children. I will be back for sure. read more

While Hat Creek is a relatively new contender in the crowded Austin burger market, their burgers can definitely hold their own. The fresh ingredients shine through and they don't try to over-complicate things with too many choices. The only complaint I have is that the cost of cheese seems to be a little higher than it should be. But despite that, I can see Hat Creek quickly becoming an Austin institution. read more

So for what it is, a fast food burger joint, I give it 5 stars. Josh at the counter took my order and was super friendly. I got a cheeseburger and fries and I was very impressed.
