We ate twice this week at Galaxy Cafe on Mesa for two major reasons. First the Fried Chicken Street Corn Tacos were absolutely amazing, They were excellent both times. Second, I had the pleasure of having Nico take my order both times. This was unexpected as I remembered him from the first time. He is very nice and knows customer service. He is a prime reason for coming even if I didn't expect to see him again. Nico deserves a raise I cannot wait until he takes our order again! He is a Super Star! read more

This was my third time coming to galaxy cafe and it did not disappoint. For all my people that work downtown Austin, this restaurant is located about 15mins from the capital. I've gotten the fish wrap, and the veggie burger the few times I've been and they are both great for lunch and nice sized portions! The best side they have in my opinion is their Mac n cheese! Went to Galaxy Cafe for a casual dinner and had the spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and both were excellent. The chicken had a really crunchy batter without being greasy, and the ciabatta tasted fresh. The fries were crispy and not overly salted. My dining companions split a pasta dish and instead of just handing them an extra plate, the kitchen actually split the pasta for them and gave each person their own piece of bread. That kind of attention feels thoughtful and rare, especially for a counter service spot. They have a nice selection of iced teas including herbal tea and flavored green tea, plus beer and soda. It feels like more of a brunch / lunch place but it works for dinner too. This isn't a place where you come away saying "you have to order this one thing." It's more that everything is done well across the menu, which makes it easy to come back and try something different next time. Today I decided to give Galaxy Cafe a whirl for the first time since it's close to where we live. It's self serve where you grab a menu and decide what you want and place an order with the cashier. Three menus: main, breakfast and gluten free. The restaurant is spacious with parties of all sizes: 1, 2, 4, 8 and 20. The wall design is abstract and modern, which I was pleasantly surprised by. I chose avocado toast, one of my favorite breakfast foods. The top of the avocado toast was good...a bit spicey. The bread, Swiss muesli, was very hard and I gave up on the bread after trying to cut one piece. The oatmeal chocolate chip cookie was very good. Firm on the outside and soft on the inside with melted chocolate chips inside. I will definitely stop by to get one of these cookies. This restaurant is family oriented. You can tell they have a number of regulars. The noise level is pretty high as I could hear the conversation of a group across the restaurant. I may come back and try another menu item. read more

What a great find! This little brunch spot was perfect for us this Sunday morning. We didn't want a long line, and the free-style here is to go place your order at the register first, then you get a number, pick up your glass to get your drinks and sit at your chosen table until the food is magically delivered in a few minutes. Perfect! We read from the varied menu es (they have 3) before going up to the register to place our order. We were there around 10:30 and there was no line, but around 11 am the line started forming, so get there early, although I have to say that it moved quick. The food arrived also fast, and it was tasty!! I enjoyed an avocado toast with egg and bacon: yum! We also ordered a steak chimichurri wrap: super juicy and delicious came with fries, and an egg spinach jalapeño with extra steak wrap that was also yummy... no complaints. A couple of friends and I went here for dinner because one of us is gluten-free, and they have a large gluten-free menu. You order at a counter and the staff brings the food out. We each tried a different entree. I had the salmon sriracha tacos which were really good and not too spicy. One friend tried the elotes chicken tacos which she said were very spicy. The third friend tried the salmon dinner, and she really liked it. Our only issue was that the restaurant was kind of dark, especially after sunset, and needed more lighting. read more

We like Galaxy Cafe. We usually meet some friends there every other week or so. I like their pancake breakfast and their lumberjack wrap. There sweet potato fries are excellent too. The times we go there the crowd is never too loud and all children are well-behaved. I'm a bit disappointed that some breakfast items are no longer available like some of the omlets, for example. Took forever. I ordered online I put in big bold letters to not use black pepper and the steak and salmon were covered in it. Way too Spicey They would have been good if not for that. The last few times I've eaten there and had an egg and a wrap there everything was spicy and full of pepper. Even the quiche didn't used to be is now spicy and full of pepper. This is my first time at Galaxy Café. I was quite intrigued with their variety of offerings on their menu. I decided to try the galaxy bowl. I appreciated their choice of ingredients but think it wasn't as carefully crafted. The sweet potatoes had not been peeled, and the kale was served in quite a large piece that it was difficult to eat. The other ingredients were a little too overcooked. Just so happened to be in the neighborhood and was looking for a place to eat and found a Galaxy Café. I had the Galaxy Fish Wrap with a side of fruit. I am so glad I got to taste this amazing wrap. I don't think there is any other wrap that can compare to this wrap. The fish was fresh and the batter was crispy and the cabbage slaw complemented it perfectly. I had it on a spinach wrap. I don't think that changes the flavor much but it made it look a little bit prettier. The fruit was pretty cool as it was not your regular fruit cup. I don't live in Austin so I won't be here often. I did say I wish they had one closer to me. I definitely would love to go back and try all of their dishes. For some reason, I got the feeling that their coffee is amazing as I saw a lot of people getting it with their lunch. Got food to-go from Galaxy Cafe upon a recommendation from my boyfriend, who has a gluten sensitivity and often orders from there because of their GF options. I got the Grilled Chicken Chipotle Wrap (in a spinach can wrap) with a side of mac and cheese. The chicken had a super nice smoky taste to it and the wrap had excellent flavors, seemed healthy and filling at the same time. The Mac and cheese wasn't phenomenal but hit the spot. I also tried some of my boyfriend's order of the whipped sweet potatoes and I don't know how I've gone this long without eating mashed sweet potato - it was very velvety and delicious! Since we had a carry out order, I can't comment on the overall ambiance of the cafe, but it's in a very unassuming strip mall without much going on on the outside. Nevertheless, I think the food is decent enough to pay a visit. Only reason I took a star off is I think it's a *bit* on the pricey side (nearly $16 for my wrap and side) but overall very impressed with the quality and taste of their food. Galaxy Cafe is one of those places where I'm guaranteed to get a quick tasty meal. It's not fine dining by any means and you have to line up to order but the food, especially the bowls, are healthy and if you have a thing for warm "salads" then you'll definitely love the Buddha bowls. I usually get the Galaxy Buddha Bowl because the kale is just warm enough to still be a little crunchy, which I love. My brother got the Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger, deconstructed (don't ask me why lol) and Sweet Potato Fries, which he loved. I tend to go here occasionally, for quick lunches, and see myself going back. I ordered the night before for an 11:00 am pickup the next day through the Yelp app using GrubHub and it was relatively simple to do! At around 9:40 am that morning, I received a call as the gluten free soy sauce they use for their gf Buddha Bowl sauce never arrived and they didn't have anything. Instead, they left me a tahini sauce and olive oil in the bag as a substitute, which I appreciated although I would have also loved having the regular sauce. Pickup was easy and everything was ready to go when I arrived - the only thing I recommend for them to change is automatically including silverware in the to-go bags or at least asking to ensure someone does/doesn't need any utensils when they pick up their food. I was heading to a picnic with a friend and while I had double checked to make sure I have utensils, she did not and we had to share mine. The food itself was pretty tasty and I especially appreciated having extra mushrooms, as requested. While I wasn't absolutely blown away by the food (although that could likely have been the sauce fiasco (I went with the tahini and it was good but not amazing!)), I would come back here again. I especially appreciated all of the labels on gluten free items which makes me feel a lot more confident in my food! read more

I got bad food poisoning after ordering food from Galaxy Cafe. The manager assured me this would be taken care of. After three weeks later and many follow-up calls, they can not do anything about it. The restaurant should have taken the steps to let me know how to follow-up instead of waiting until it's too late to receive a refund. Instead, they strung me along. This location has chintzy service compared to the Brodie location. I ordered a gluten free burger and chocolate tarte to go. No utensils, ketchup, mustard or mayonnaise packets were included. Galaxy cafe is just around the corner from me so it's extremely convenient, especially with their new curbside setup. That being said, I don't know that I would frequent here much if it were not so convenient. While Galaxy offers many healthier options which I appreciate, many of their dishes are often bland or taste like something you could make at home. I do also feel their prices are a bit inflated. You can get similar dishes at Modern Market for less. If you're looking for healthy, convenient, reliable, and variety, this is the place. I lean towards the Roasted Veggie Buddha Bowl with salmon. It's a good sized salmon portion that is cooked nicely, not dry. The lemon tahini dressing is delicious. The bowls are huge. I sometimes eat half for dinner and save half for lunch the next day. The orders come out quickly. With the salmon, they end up costing $15-$20.
