It's a Hopdoddy so you know the food is going to slap regardless of the location and the Triangle Hopdoddy is no different. I had the veggie el diablo burger with a side of fries and a frozen marg. I'm a huge fan of their veggie patty and I love that they allow for substitutions. I'm not sure if this is a recent addition to all locations or if this is the only location that does it but I SUPER appreciated their special vegetarian/vegan menu. It was really helpful and I love how inclusive they were of different diets. I also ended up trying the brussle sprotus and they were the right amount of spicy and sweet. I came here on a Saturday morning at 11am so the service was super quick. I'm not sure if its normally like that or if I just beat the lunch rush. read more

I've never had a bad experience here. The food is always so good. The burger could be thicker, but otherwise I like the ingredients. The fries are really the main event though- perfectly crispy and seasoned, and the sauce is fire. The vibe is kind of college-y, and I like the location. Who doesn't like Hopdoddy?! Is that even possible? I got the monthly special and it was an Indian chicken burger and it was soooooo freaking delicious! It was way out of my wheelhouse but was being brave and ordered it and am so glad I did!! I absolutely loved it! The fried rice patty in it was great! My husband got a smash burger and sis fit was pretty good but not the best he's had (hence the 4 stars) And the green chile queso fries are superb! I can't imagine not getting them. I was really excited when I saw the Tikka Masala Burger on the menu it sounded like such a fun and bold idea. I've always loved Hopdoddy's burgers, and their monthly specials as well. But "Tikka Masala Burger" just didn't quite work. Being South Asian and having grown up around these spices, I found the flavors a bit too intense. The marinated patty, kasoori methi sauce, and cilantro were all strong on their own, but together they felt overpowering and created a slightly bitter taste. Instead of highlighting the spices, it kind of buried them. I think there's definitely potential here if the flavors are toned down and balanced a bit more. If it's your first time visiting this place, it can be a little confusing when you walk through the door because you're not sure if you're supposed to order at the counter or wait for table service. Apparently you can do both, but at the counter you will be facing the tip screen starting at 18%. This is a cashless restaurant, but they take cash tips. They do have local beers and a full bar here, including frozen drinks. If you want condiments, you'll have to go in search of those and ketchup is served the same way as you would pump it at a Wendy's. We got 3 different burgers, (and everything you see below) for almost $90. Yes, the answer is yes, this is definitely a place to add to your burgers favorite list. However, the fries are good, just not great, and I personally did not like the brussels sprouts which tasted like they were incinerated into burned leaves, but my wife liked them. Definitely a nice burger joint for all those apartment dwellers in the Triangle. The Cadillac wuygu burger is only $16 which is worthwhile and would have me coming back. Service is a mix of fending for yourself and some minor table service. Just a note, they do have happy hour prices of half off cocktails, beer and wine Monday through Thursday 3 to 6pm. read more

Its been a couple of years since I've visited a hopdoddy in person but it was a stable back in my college days. I remembered the original location on south congress and the long line of waiting. I specifically picked this location for ease of parking but man, it was quite busy on a Thursday. The service was as efficient as usual and we even made it in time for happy hour which is half off drinks. How could I forget such a stellar happy hour? The drinks at regular price is only around $10 which has become a rare commodity in Austin. I was sad that my go to prime time burger is no longer on the menu but I was recommended the Cadillac burger. Though it's not prime time, it was still a delicious burger. My friend from out of town really enjoyed her Diablo burger and we split a truffle Parmesan fries. She told me that she wanted to come back again cause the burger was so good. I too will come back more often. At least until the mueller location opens cause that's closer to home. read more

A really solid burger chain. The El Diablo is my favorite as it has all the right toppings; the jalapeños and caramelized onions just elevate any burger. One thing I noticed is that they use a croissant-like bun. I'm not sure if this has always been the case or if it's new. The buns were tasty, but I still prefer a classic brioche or potato bun. The Parmesan Truffle Fries is my favorite appetizer there. Super addicting and go well with the truffle dip or chipotle ketchup. I also got to try the Hot Honey Sage Brussels. These weren't my favorite as I felt they were too sweet. I could do with less honey on them. As a whole, Hopdoddy's is a great place for a social gathering. Within an hour, the four of us were at the location, greeted by a queue for beer. We each ordered different beers, and I had one from Zilker Brewing Company. The beer was excellent, and the ambiance along with good company made for a pleasant start. However, the highlight the Chicken Tikka Masala burger was disappointing. The flavor was overwhelmingly strong, with too many spices overpowering the balance that makes a burger perfect. The excessive spice ruined the experience, making it less enjoyable. Hopdoddy is known for great burgers, so it would be better if they either tone down the spices or remove this flavor altogether to maintain their quality standard. Hopdoddy has always been a solid burger place to me. I consider it a reliable burger place. It's not the best I've ever had, but it's absolutely a great option. I was lucky enough to get a spot at the bar when they ran the 50% promo so I enjoyed that. At first when I got there, the bar was full, but the employee working at the time told my friend and I that we can grab another set of chairs and join. She immediately made the experience 100x better. She was the reason we got to enjoy the meal even more. The fries and swirled Marg were great, loved that immensely. I've been to Hopdoddy a few times and have always gotten what I expected: creative, great tasting burgers (a bit on the pricier side for a burger, but mostly worth the splurge), tasty fries, and hearty milkshakes. There's something for everyone on the menu, and the fries are fresh and always a great add-on with your burger choice. My favorite fries are the hot honey sage (sweet potato fries) and the parmesan fries! For the burgers, the Truffle Mac is really good (I can see why it's a fan favorite), and the Magic Shroom is my usual go-to. The milkshakes are super heavy and I can never finish one. I haven't tried their libations but they look tasty (margaritas and other house cocktails), and they have M-F happy hour specials from 3-6pm: $5 house margs, house cocktails, and beers, and then $5 house fries or pretzel bites with cheese. Initially the line wasn't moving for a solid 10 mins but when it did start to move it moved swiftly so the wait wasn't outrageous, also it was a holiday. Hopdoddy literally has some of the best burgers I've ever had..def top 3 and I've had a lotta burgers these past 35 years. I usually love Hopdoddy but was highly disappointed by this location. I ordered a burger and milkshake to go. When I picked up the order the milkshake was the complete wrong flavor. I requested them to remake it with the proper flavor and they gave it to me with no lid and the milkshake spilling everywhere. After getting home and eating my burger, I was disappointed to see that the bun was soggy to the point of falling apart despite asking for sauce on the side, and my burger was significantly pink inside despite specifically asking for "no pink". It was filling, but I'd expect more from the Big Chuck burger especially. The Llano Pablano lacked in flavor. The Bacon Jam Double Cheese burger needed more jam. The fries were decent and I like the whole wheat bun with all the seeds and stuff on top. During quarantine I tried their burger kit. It was pretty fun, but we ended up with just some regular burgers. The reason for 3 stars is that Hopdoddy is overpriced for what they offer, but the food is generally okay. Would I come again? Hopdoddys hava such a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Husband often has a craving for this place and we always get a seat indoors. It's a great restaurant for eating good hearty bar food and conversing. It's pretty clean we've a sticky table maybe once. I've been to this spot several times and it's a bit hit or miss. I am vegetarian so I'll often just get their regular cheeseburger with a Beyond Meat patty. Sometimes the patty is over salted. Husband only eats the regular meat burgers and he said he's had the same issues. The burgers aren't too big, but are still filling. The fries are meant to be shared you need at least two people. Pandemic review: SAFE! CLEAN! Employees wore masks and gloves. We used the online order and curbside pick-up. The curbside parking here is awesome because the reserved spots are right out front. We highly recommend this service so that you do not have to enter. There is covered outdoor seating available if you prefer dining al fresco or to bring your pup.
