This old school fast food joint hits the spot on all levels. Freshly/made-to-order burgers and sides. The onion rings are delish. The breading is just the right texture. Shakes are a must-have...made with butter fat. The prices are incredible affordable and employees are really nice. Family-owned since 1973.

Wish I had tried this place sooner. It is truly an Austin icon, and I hope they're around forever! I tried the wings and rings combo. They warned that the wings were going to be smaller, but they were the whole wing and very tender, tasty, yummy. They have their own house sauce, and it had a good kick and flavor. The onion rings were perfectly breaded. The service was wonderful and quick. No rudeness, just a quick and decent meal despite it being late in the day. There's plenty of parking, a nearby bustop, and patio seats. Sure, it's got an older building vibe, but you can see it's a great place to meet up with folks for a quick and decent meal at prices that are not pretentious. Of course we'll be back because now I want to try their whole menu.

Pretty decent old-timey hamburger joint. The regular cheeseburger was really good, but the chicken fried burger leaked a bunch of indiscriminate liquid presumably from being fried while frozen but I can't say for sure. The service is traditional fast food counter service and they were reasonably quick. Bathroom management needs work (see video). Shake was really good this and the fries were the 5 star items from the trip. The regular burger was 3.75 stars and the cheese sticks themselves could use a little more stretch and a better sauce but were well-cooked. I'd come back for the shakes when I'm in the mood for sure though.

Onion rings

My first time here. I had never heard of them before. I love Dan's & Fran's and my favorite is Top Notch. Well this place falls in line with the iconic Austin burger joint. A great burger and killer onion rings. We went there for my birthday, coworkers birthday lunch and everyone had a great lunch. The sweet potato fries are definitely the best I have ever tasted. They are cooked perfectly, on the well done side. It brings out the sweetness in the potato. Coworkers had fish sandwich and veggie burger. Both said they were excellent. I'll definitely be back since this is just a short trip down 35 from the office.

I've been eating Hill-Bert's burgers since I was a kid and they've always been fresh and delicious! Stopped by earlier this week to get my usual: Double cheeseburger all the way everything on it, add mustard and heavy Mayo. Also ordered large onion rings and a large sweet tea. Everything was fresh! I like being able to come here and spend $10 to $12 on a lunch meal and when they hand you the to-go bag it has with some real heft to it. Double cheeseburger was awesome as usual, nice and juicy griddle-fried patties, fresh veggies and that delicious mayo, but I can't say enough about their onion rings! They are fresh and the batter is so tasty with almost a butter flavor to it. There aren't any other onion rings around Austin that taste like Hill-Bert's. Finally, the staff is so friendly!!! They've always been so appreciative of me as a customer and always as me to tell my family friends, which I do! Their location is a little obscure because it is off of the beaten path at the far South end of Cameron Rd. They are behind the Capital Plaza shopping center in an old-style, brick Taco Bell restaurant that still has the arches and the benches out front. Adds a lot of nostalgia to the place! I will definitely be going back. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

Kiddie Cheeseburger

Went around 2:30, not busy at all. Great service, decent food. Would probably not order the kiddie cheeseburger again because it was a bit plain for my taste and not much flavor. I would order the onion rings again though.

I didn't feel like a burger though so I got the Classic Coney hotdog which is full of Detroit style chili (thick meat chili with no beans), and loaded with red onions and shredded cheddar cheese, then topped with mustard. It was delicious and filling. It Truly was like a dog you'd get at a Coney's in Detroit, MI. IYKYK. Then I heard you had to try the latke here, so I got Bubbe's OG Latkes which is 2 round thick potato pancakes! It came with sour cream and Smutz smoky aoli sauce on the side. I tried it both ways and it was good. But really it was best with that cold creamy sour cream that goes so well with the potato flavor. They also have great drinks which are refillable for free while you dine in. And I love the chill vibe and decor. Great artwork and old photos. Very funky! The lovely woman who helped us during our last visit also gave Zoloft a pup cup, so they've consistently shown kindness to our little family. They even gave complimentary vegan cookies to guests when we arrived (not sure if it was a special promotion, but such a thoughtful touch!). And the ice cream... WOW. Made with lentils, and honestly some of the best ice cream we've ever had--rich, creamy, and unforgettable. Friendly staff, delicious food, thoughtful service, and creative plant-based treats. There is some picnic bench seating if you care to eat there, but each order is ready to take home You can also find a menu and other information posted on the outside. The menu mostly offers burgers, but there are a couple other offerings like a cheesesteak, partner, etc. The staff were very friendly and precessional. I really appreciated that they double checked everything in our to-go bags against what we ordered just to make sure we had everything. Everything was bagged, and the orders had the individual order and special order requests written on top Everything tasted great. The burgers were classic burgers, slightly messy, but very flavorful. The fries weren't quite as crisp as I like, but they were seasoned well and tasty Some tips: Consider ordering online so you can have your meal ready when you arrive The burgers/entrees don't come with fries, so, consider ordering a couple fries to share. One order of fries is more than enough for 2 people to share. To do this just make your meal a combo on the ones you want to have fries. Combos also come with a drink, but it's not a fountain drink it's in cans which they also bag for you Cheers!!

This was by far the best meal I've had all week. The cheeseburger was outstanding. The bun was perfect--soft, and held everything together without getting soggy. The meat had incredible flavor, juicy and well-seasoned, and the divine (I'm assuming that's the special sauce or topping?) absolutely blew me away--it took the whole thing to another level. The fries were exactly how I like them: thick-cut, tender, not overly crunchy or crispy, and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was spot-on. Service was excellent too--friendly, attentive, and quick without feeling rushed. Shoutout to the team for making a conference-weary traveler feel right at home. If you're anywhere near Jimmy's, do yourself a favor and go. I'm already thinking about coming back before I leave town. So well done--thank you! Highly recommend. 10/10 would eat again.

The flavor and quality that made me come back before just weren't there this time, which was super disappointing. I honestly left feeling a little sad because I used to go there all the time for that exact reason and took a 30 min drive to try it again. On the positive side, the staff is still amazing. Everyone was really friendly, and that part hasn't changed at all. And I did grab one of the locally made sweets from the fridge, and that was actually really good. Our server was lots of fun and patient with us as we took our time determining drinks and meals. We started with their nachos appetizer to split, which was really good. The chips were evenly covered with toppings, and it was just enough to get us through until our meals. My friend and I split their special burger that day, which was a green goddess burger and swapped the regular patty for a veggie patty. It was great! The veggie patty reminded me a lot of falafel, which is one of my favorite foods, and it went really well with their green goddess dressing and other toppings. We also both got their sweet potato fries as a side. They come with a spicy aoli that went very well with them.
