Bacon Cheeseburger with mustard, pickles, onions - Delicious

This place is old, nasty, greasy, and sticky, BUT, it serves one heck of a delicious cheeseburger !!! This is the 3rd Dan's location I've been to in Austin.

    What a bargain!

I've lived in Austin way too long for this to be my first visit to Dan's. I had an early appointment and afterward I wanted a simple reasonably cheap breakfast, and I decided to give Dan's a try. There's plenty of nostalgia for Austin "as it used to be," and I can understand that, but I try not to get into it, especially given all the cool new things about Austin. But I will admit that this place feels like a throwback to simpler cheaper times and I really enjoyed it. No hipster vibe, no avocado, toast, or shrimp and grits, just a damn good breakfast, with plenty of variations, all at a reasonable price. Since I wasn't too hungry, I ordered the half order of biscuits and gravy. One big split biscuit, a generous dollop of excellent sausage gravy, one over easy, egg, and two slices of very good bacon made for a tasty, filling, and surprisingly economical breakfast. Looking around at what everybody else was eating, I resolved that my first visit to Dan's we'll definitely not be my last.

Very unique local burger experience. Very tasty and well crafted burger. Did I mention, well crafted? Dan's burgers have very vibrant textures and flavors unique to its own. I'm not sure it measures up to the greatest 'fast food' burgers of all time, but it's pretty darn good. Onion rings were good, but I prefer a more panko or even a beer batter, but these were still good and fresh. Do stop in if in the area. Dicks

The walk-in is OK but the booth and the seats are torn. They need to be fixed. It's very small and a lot of trash in the trash bins to the floor where you can see it. The ceiling has water leaks and it's cracked and the wall beams are dusty with some cobwebs and it's broken down a little bit and the floor needs to be fixed because it has cracks in it and the black mats that are waterproof for slipping they're dirty and need to be vacuumed and then clean the menus need to be wiped down the AC vents need to be cleaned because they're dirty and black and full of wet cobwebs their ketchup bottles need to be refilled. The lights some of them don't work and some of them like one yellow light on .

Oh my gosh I LOVE Dans!!! Lots of burgers and Austin. Lots of really good ones too. Dans is a classic though. And cheap! I 100% recommend Dans cheeseburger and onion rings. There fries are also amazing. Only thing I would change is how late they are open. Craving a mid night burger and unfortunately they are closed by 9pm.

I seriously love everything about this place. It's got the old school greasy spoon vibe going. And, I love that! The employees are rad, sweet, and friendly. The food, OMBurger!!! So freakin' good. I got a cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate shake. The boyfriend got a cheeseburger and onion rings. We went with the small burger versions. Can't even imagine the big ones. The onion rings were perfect-O! Perfectly battered and fried. The shake was like an old-fashion malt with yummy chocolate flavor. THE BURGERS WERE SCRUMPTIOUS!!! Dare I say better than my beloved Shake Shack?!? There, I said it! Cheeseburgers $4.15...what?!?! My meal was just over 12 bux. Epic. Go.

I was looking for a burger place that wasn't a food truck and I found this place. The burger was hot, fresh and tasty. The veggies on it all tasted fresh and the service was very fast. The inside isn't much to look at but the burgers are fantastic. Definitely give this place a try. My meal was about 12.50 for a burger, onion rings and a medium soda

Was Super excited to have a burger spot close to me but it was underwhelming. Tasted like a poor man version of Whataburger. Curly fries were yummy tho and price is decent.

This was a spot that offered burgers, hot sandwiches, chicken tenders, and milkshakes. Ordering was done at the counter. There were plenty of tables to sit at. Our order was large, but the food came out in a timely manner. I had a regular double cheeseburger ($6.95). It came with lettuce and tomatoes I believe. It was solid. It was what one expects at a place like this. The meat to bread ratio was ideal as well. The fries were okay, hot, but not seasoned too much. The onion rings were the preferred choice as they were crispy and had a good ratio of breading to onion. I also had some grilled cheese along with chicken fingers. The grilled cheese was standard while the chicken fingers were not bad either. It was odd that the chicken fingers came with gravy as that was very plain. BBQ sauce was needed for the chicken. For dessert, I had some of the vanilla and chocolate milkshakes. They were very thick and creamy. I would prefer a milkshake to be a little less thick, but it was not that big of a deal as it was creamy like I mentioned. They were both traditional, which I prefer when having a milkshake. Will I go back? Certainly.

I went to Dans the other day and got the chicken strips basket and looked at my roll and this is what it looked like.

It's an Austin institution and well deserved. Old timey, homemade greasy burgers that hit the spot every time. You know what you're getting when you come here and you can customize the burger any way you want. Not the best burger in Austin but it's a step up from the fast food chains. The onion rings are top notch. Lightly battered and absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and fast.

The food is incredible, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff truly make this place special. Huge shoutout to amazing team members Ariel and Emily for being so warm and kind. The chef even made our pup Zoloft a pup cup today, which was such a sweet gesture. The lovely woman who helped us during our last visit also gave Zoloft a pup cup, so they've consistently shown kindness to our little family. They even gave complimentary vegan cookies to guests when we arrived (not sure if it was a special promotion, but such a thoughtful touch!). And the ice cream... WOW. Made with lentils, and honestly some of the best ice cream we've ever had--rich, creamy, and unforgettable. Friendly staff, delicious food, thoughtful service, and creative plant-based treats. Mission Burger is a gem in Austin, and we'll absolutely be back again whenever we return to Austin

There is some picnic bench seating if you care to eat there, but each order is ready to take home You can also find a menu and other information posted on the outside. The menu mostly offers burgers, but there are a couple other offerings like a cheesesteak, partner, etc. The staff were very friendly and precessional. I really appreciated that they double checked everything in our to-go bags against what we ordered just to make sure we had everything. Everything was bagged, and the orders had the individual order and special order requests written on top Everything tasted great. The burgers were classic burgers, slightly messy, but very flavorful. The fries weren't quite as crisp as I like, but they were seasoned well and tasty Some tips: Consider ordering online so you can have your meal ready when you arrive The burgers/entrees don't come with fries, so, consider ordering a couple fries to share. One order of fries is more than enough for 2 people to share. To do this just make your meal a combo on the ones you want to have fries. Combos also come with a drink, but it's not a fountain drink it's in cans which they also bag for you Cheers!!

The few negative reviews mentioned bland burgers, but the positive ones say these are the best burgers in town. I thought I couldn't be unlucky enough to be in the minority and receive bland burgers, but, boy, was I wrong! NO SEASONING IN THE PATTIES!! Not even salt? If they had just seasoned the patties like they seasoned their fries, my experience would be completely different. An easy 5 stars. But nope. A solid 2, only because of everything other than the patties. We came at around 8pm on a Saturday night and were the only customers, so maybe that should've been a sign. Also the lot felt kinda sketchy in the dark. Idk if I would have wanted to be there alone at night. Food was also ready in 10 minutes, like the guy told us. FRIES: Thick cut, well-seasoned, good. Looked like a steak seasoning on the fries. I liked it, but since they were thick, the center of the fries were bland, unfortunately. Maybe it would've been less noticeable if we ate them right away. Large serving though. My bf and I only got one combo and couldn't finish the fries with each of our burgers. The burgers are big, at 4 inches wide. THOUSAND ISLAND BURGER: I liked it at first because of the thousand island, but for the bites that didn't have it, I noticed that the patty didn't taste seasoned...like at all. I was shocked at how bland it was without the dressing. MUSHROOM BURGER: The mushrooms had no flavor, probably weren't seasoned at all. The burger, overall, was also very bland. Unseasoned patty here too. The ingredients felt fresh, but it was missing the flavor we were expecting. Really disappointing. They gave ketchup packets in the bag, but we didn't remember they were in there before finishing our burgers. It probably would've really helped, but the burgers shouldn't have needed it to be good.
