Flavor is amazing! I went here to try as I read everything is fried in beef tallow! Taste is great! Downside- I went inside to order. No one is attending the counter. Counter and tables have not been wiped down in a while. Condiment area is filthy. Menu boards are not all working. Looks like there's only family meals of tenders and no chicken. But clearly there is chicken waiting to be served After a while and just before I head to the door a young girl with a hicky on her neck comes out of the office and in an unintelligible voice asks me something. Went thru the drive thru, were told they were out of wings, out of this and that... ordered shrimp and tenders sides were coleslaw and red beans and rice. All of the chicken tender combo meal tasted old and was cold biscuit was hard as a rock even the drink was flat, a coke. This is only my second time trying this spot. Interesting enough we noticed a ton of chicken precooked and sitting under the light some did look like wings but whatever. This place needs new ownership and new staff. I tried giving Popeyes one more chance. This was the last one! Y'all sold me this raggedy box of bullsh!t. First off, I know the biscuits are already hard and dry as heck. I rubbed the two together, jokingly calling the family to dinner and started a doggone fire in my kitchen. Look at my photos below. The chicken was so bad. My dog didn't even want to eat it. And she never turns down food! Your kitchen is a mess, your employees knew dang well what they sold me. They were laughing at me from the drive-thru and went to hide. I should have opened the box there, but my mistake for trusting in you Popeyes. I went inside to get my large fry. They forgot to put in my order and gave me a half-empty box of fries! By the way, the fries were the only thing we could eat. The fried pickles tasted and felt like I was chewing on my great granddaddy's old leather bootstrap! My kids and wife wanted Popeyes. I did not! I wish you could have seen the way they looked at me when they opened that box of chicken jerky! Disappointment and devastation. You would have thought it came from The Bone Temple Kitchen and Dr. Ian Kelson cooked it himself. I apologized while gnawing on a piece, gaslighting them into believing we could sit and enjoy this abomination for dinner. What if this had been my last time seeing my family? The trauma this chicken could have given them had I choked and died. Embarrassing just the thought if this were the last image of me in their memory forever. My son ate the fries and my daughter had the biscuit but drowned that thing in butter and honey so she could try to swallow it. I feared for her safety and life! It's like they only hire people that has no common sense. I went and ordered a 12pc BONELESS WINGS just to get home and their bone-in. I stop by every once in a while and get food here but every time I come I choose to eat here there's ALWAYS A PROBLEM with the food or service. I don't see any growth in the future on the restaurant. I stay 1 hour away by the way and this is the closest Popeyes. Popeyes employees in Austin truly just do whatever the hell they want. This location specifically is ground zero for lazy refusal to make your food. Arrived at 12:35, a whole 25 minutes before closing. They "don't have" anything besides bone in chicken. What? Nearly a half hour until closing and you have *nothing* besides bone in chicken? No sandwiches, no tenders, and "no we can't make any more- we close at 1". Oh wow, cool! I wonder how their bosses feel about their refusal to do their jobs? This is a repeated occurrence. Ordered via postmates at 12am. Mind you we ordered this knowing they may mess up our order ( 6 chicken sandwiches: 3 spicy, 3 pickled). When we received our order and took it out we found that they had plopped 2 chicken tenders in between two slices of bread and called it a day for each sandwich. No pickles and no sauce on any of them. Every single sandwich was cold and the chicken was dry. Again, I wanted to reiterate that we knew they may mess up our order a bit given the time but this is incredible. This was just blatant and deliberate disregard for our order. The neighboring areas looked quite run down and the pavement around the place had more pot holes than a war zone, but the drive thru experience was quick and spot on. Had the two piece meal and the chicken was exactly what their engineers (I'm sure less cooks were involved at their CHQ than engineers) planned. Tasty and a bit of a Louisiana bite. The rice & beans were also good. Slaw wasn't my style but it was fresh. Biscuit was tiny. The CHQ has as many accountants figuring my meal dynamics as engineers. Sadly this was the closest location when my hankering for some chicken hit, but please avoid this location like the plague! We tried both the original and spicy and boy did this location live up to their negative reputation. Not only did the staff struggle with a large order, but they also delivered one of the worst tasting sandwiches I've had in awhile, definitely not worth the long wait. If you can imagine all the things that can go wrong while making a fried chicken sandwich then that would be exactly what our sandwiches tasted like. Each bite was greeted with a soggy/stale batter combined with a dried out piece of chicken and a chewy/overly toasted bun. The only "good" tasting thing about this sandwich was the miniscule amount of sauce and the pickles, which is surprising since I am normally not a fan of pickles. Overall, an $8 loss but I would probably give this sandwich another chance but definitely not at this location. read more

Tonight at 10:30 there were three young Hispanic males working when I got my food. It was so cold. I didn't know what to do. I did not want to call the scene over the two pieces of chicken that I ordered, but I was expecting fresh food and the chicken was so cold. I had to leave a review.. when I gave the money to the cashier to pay. He hesitated to take my money, close the window and whisper it off to the other two workers then put the money into the cash register 10 seconds later they come with a bag. The service here is absolutely terrible. It took at least 30 minutes for my group to order, and it was not even that the line was long, it was just that no one was that the cash register to serve us. I am not sure if they were understaffed or the staff was just not functioning purposefully. Anyways after we ordered, the food took forever to come out. They can't really label this fast food when nothing about it is fast. The food was ok. I ordered fried chicken for the two piece Tuesday deal. The were out of the white meat that I ordered so I got dark meat instead, I did receive a lot of pieces though, way more than two, which was a nice surprise. I've tried a few times in the past 6 months to pickup food from the Popeye's on Airport Blvd. Tonight was my last attempt. They are only serving via the Drive Thru, and I've driven by several times when the line was long and kept driving. Tonight, I headed over to check the wait and it was the shortest line I've ever seen. There was only one car at the ordering kiosk so I pulled up directly behind them. 10 minutes later, the car in front of me still had not progressed. It was unclear to me whether they had even ordered yet. I bailed out of the line and pulled around the building to leave, and it was them I realized there were 4 cars lined up waiting for their food. If it takes 10+ minutes to prepare an order for each car, this Popeye's will be closed in the near future. read more

How is this joint still open and what's the point of running it if none of the workers care? Literally couldn't even do the bare minimum. We were told at the window to move up ahead and wait for our food (does not make any sense; are workers going to bring it out to us?) but noticed everyone behind us were getting their orders. After waiting for quite awhile, my partner heads inside to confront and notices there were FIVE WORKERS SITTING AROUND. It was basically EMPTY INSIDE. The kid at the window who instructed us to move up leaves, one kid is literally eating chicken on the job sitting on the floor. My partner has to repeat our order and it's clear they hadn't started on it. We get our order back and of course they get it wrong. They just give out whatever they feel like here apparently. This is the closest Popeye's to UT Austin so I don't have much choice when it comes to which one I want to eat at. The location is pretty sketchy looking, as it is seemingly in the middle of nowhere, so that's nice I suppose. They randomly run out of sides, napkins, and the like which sucks. The only reason to come here is for Two-piece Tuesday, which is a really good deal ($1.19 for a wing and drumstick). If not for that offer, I wouldn't come here. Last time I went, they forgot our biscuits when we went through the drive thru, which was very disappointing when we got home. Still, Two-piece Tuesday makes this place worth going. read more
