These guys will have to chase me off with a stick! Ate here twice in one weekend because ACL is starting and hoping people are smart enough to stop in and try their chicken lollipops. Plenty of different munchies on the menu to choose from. Pretty sure they gave me a 5th piece. Happy accident. I don't need to eat hot Cheetos ever again. I just need a Tommy Want Wingy more North. read more

The Rainey Street location of Tommy Want Wingy is honestly just as good as their Barton Springs Saloon spot. My boyfriend absolutely loves the wings here, and for him, the more spice they have, the better. I'm completely hooked on their fries and always make sure to grab an order for myself. It's a good stop for a quick bite when we're hanging out on Rainey. read more

As soon as I saw the fat guy artwork on the outside of the truck I knew it would smack. Bit into my first wing and it was amazing. Crispy outside while still being chewy enough to enjoy. Perfect amount of spice to sweetness ratio, the og sauce is what I got. Only bad thing I have to say is it's too far. Open a location in Hutto or north Austin and I'd be slamming wings every day. Still worth the drive though. read more

I'm sure this 4 stars is of my own design, but I DID toss out a lot of food, so here we are. I ordered some garlic parm wings and stupidly garlic parm tots. I didn't realize that I was basically ordering fried chicken and tots with garlic parm sprinkles. The first wing was awesome but the flavor and the "fried-ness" got overwhelming really quickly. I guess if I had ordered in person instead of through the app, the lovely guy in the trailer could have been like, yo, that's too much of the same flavor, you gotta mix it up. But alas, I chose for my self and I got what I got. Everything was delicious. I wish I would have gotten wet wings. And I wish they weren't breaded. But oh well. Very crispy, and the lollipop DOES make them easier to eat. read more

Tommy Want Wingy - Garlic parm wings Sweet chili wings Garlic parm tots in the back - Chicken Wings Near Me - Austin, Texas

It'd been years since I last went to Tommy Want Wingy, back when they were located on Rainy Street. A trip back with a new mural of my all time favorite comedian had me saying Holy Schnikies in no time. Atmosphere: Food truck style next to a bar, common sight here in Austin but a great way to enjoy a food and drink. Food: Lollipop style chicken wings. Essentially where the chicken is filleted creating a lollipop appearance. Appearances aside all the flavors here are delicious. I got the garlic parm and one of the original spices. All were breaded perfectly and fried to a nice crisp. They maybe a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of the wings easily justifies. Two servings will most probably fill most people. Service: Very friendly service, and of course the staff will geek with you on any Chris Farley movie, because hey that's why we're here right? Overall, I'd recommend easily if you're in the area. Especially for lollipop style wings. read more

I absolutely love Tommy want wingy!! The best wings to ever exist. I love the chicken lollipop style it's easier to eat and it feels like you get a lot more with each bite. The buffalo is more spicy then your typical buffalo wing but it's so worth it!! The only thing I'd knock them for is sometimes I feel like the flavor of the wings is not consistent. Maybe it's the oil they are using and not the sauce? I can't completely tell but it's not a deal breaker for me. Either way it's still my favorite wing spot in Austin. read more

Though the prices were a little higher than I expected, the wings were delicious and the fries were even better. I would love to try them again, there was some space to sit and eat there at the Saloon which was convenient, and the workers were nice as well. read more

wings was ok but sense this was Texas they were decent but maybe give me more sauce they said they couldn't due to budget cuts IDK HOW

I liked this place. Tommy want wingy has been the first place I genuinely like their wings. I like the texture, the wing shapes, and the different flavour profiles offered. I'm pretty happy with my purchases here at this food truck. read more

Every time my family goes to Austin Tommy want wingy is a must. The food is amazing my favorite wings hands down. The service is fast. The wings are lollipop style and I've never had a bad wing there. Sometimes wings can have like a chewy piece or an overcooked piece but I've never experienced that at Tommy want wingy. read more

Meh. I come from a city that does wings really well. This isn't it in my opinion. I do NOT like the lollipop style wings at all. They just seem wrong. And when you want wings you want a good traditional buffalo. Also not it here. They are ok. I think the ranch on fire is an INCREDIBLE flavor. Best flavor here IMO. Pro tip, get the fried pickles with the ranch on fire. read more

Frankie Love Wingy! Wow this spectacular food truck is amazing a simplistic. Was at the hotel next door to this food truck and I needed a pick me up. Grabbed a dozen wings and beer and had a snack, like you've never down a dozen wings man. Outstanding wings, they kept it simple and simplicity is all you need with wings. The Chef knew his product and wing objective and the was KEEP IT WINGY ! I hope you grab some and KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD! read more

Anything less than 5 starts is just straight up hating. These wings are some of the best In the city.

Really wanted to love these wings, but they were really average. They were dry and the lemon pepper didn't have much flavor. The garlic tenders were so heavily breaded and dry. The garlic parm fries were really good though! The sweet chili wings were better because the sauce helped with the dryness of the wings. Would not come back here, especially for the high price. read more

Honestly pretty expensive at $12 for 5 wings, but the texture and flavor of the chicken lollipops was great. It has the meatiness of flats but the ease of easy of a drumstick. Got the OG flavor, which was my favorite, Chile Limon, and Spicy Pineapple. read more

I have nothing really to say except that I LOVE TWW! I literally only go to Rainey Street now if I know I'm going to get to eat here. Best time to go when they open for the day or during lunch! I also like the Cosmic location when I just want a chill vibe. I don't do super spicy, but here I tolerate it just for the ranch on fire wings! And you have to get the garlic parm fries and lots of sides of their ranch (cause bring down the heat without taking away the taste you really want!) with every order! read more

Great place for wings! Highly recommend to try their wings. They are more on the pricey side in my opinion. The service was good, did take 15 min for our wings to come out. We ordered the buffalo hot flavor. The overall taste was great and had a kick to them! Wish the wings were a little more a crispy. The other flavor we got was chile limon. I wouldn't get these again please the flavor wasn't as strong. Overall solid place for wings but pricey in my opinion read more

This place has the best wings!! I usually get the 4 piece tenders with the OG sauce with the garlic fries. The fries are never disappointing, they have a crunch. I've also had the garlic tenders which is a dry rub and just as good. Although I love this place and have been here many times, last time I went I got a tender with no chicken, all it had was breading. I will still be returning because it's too good not to but hopefully next time I'll get all the tenders. read more

I went to get a cocktail at Cosmic coffee and found Tommy Want Wingy food truck. . These wings are delicious!!! I got the sweet chili and lemon pepper. Both were delicious and tasty. They look attractive since they make them into a lollipop style, something I hadn't seen. They were quite busy so it took about 20 min to get the food. You order and pay through your phone. Wanted to love this spot but the wings were dry for our liking. It was crispy, the sauce was great, but the meat was not tender. We did order towards the end of the day so that could have been a factor. The portions are definitely smaller for a wing since it is lollipop style. We went to their food truck at cosmic. read more

Tommy Want Wingy - Chicken Wings Near Me - Austin, Texas

Sadly this might've been the most overrated food experience that I've had in Austin. I guess if you need late night wings, you could do worse. But people literally rave about this place so my hopes were high only to have some pretty mediocre wings. Got five lemon pepper and five ranch on fire wings. Total came to $20 after tax and the to go surcharge. $2 per wing is pricey. The lemon pepper didn't have much flavor, they really needed to use like double the amount of seasoning. The ranch on fire just tasted like slightly salty wings, and then 30 seconds later your mouth is on fire. It really wasn't pleasant at all. I probably should've ordered a sauced flavor instead of two dry rubs. The only good thing about the wings were they were freshly fried and hot. But flavor wasn't great. I also recommend placing an order online, then you can just pick up by sliding in next to the food truck, instead of having to wait in line to get into the bar. This was a let down. read more

If you love spicy chicken wings and tenders then this is a place for you. Their spicy scale is not standard and will leave your mouth on fire if you don't like spicy food. I went with the OG flavor which was way too hot for me. The chicken tenders were pretty standard and I should have got the chicken wings instead. I'm told that this is one of the better chicken wing spots in the area. Make sure you order online since they will not let you order at the truck. I was able to get my food about 10 minutes after ordering and paying online. read more

It's yummy, it's a staple, it's worth a try, but lord have mercy on my soul when I have to fork over the credit card for a chicken wing. their price point is a little aggressive and with all due respect, I have created similar wings for a fraction of the price. what you are paying for is drunk convenience. be prepared to be nickeled and dimed even for the sheer basics like sauces. I will repeat, it is good. Nothing like being day buzzed and having some chicken wings, if money isn't a factor to you then have at it. If you're looking for something more cost effective skip. read more

We placed an order online here last night for some hot ranch and Buffalo wings with the garlic Parmesan tots. Their ordering system was pretty convenient. You can order online seated at the bar next door, track the progress of your order via a text-generated link, but they will also text you when your order is ready. Regarding the wings, I thought the Buffalo were better because they were saucy. The hot ranch were decent, but I wouldn't bother getting them again. The tots were actually my favorite part. Perfectly crisp. Not heavy on the garlic flavor, but there was a good dash of Parmesan. I would come back if I were nearby with a hungry group, but I wouldn't say it is a must-try experience in Austin. read more

Had the pleasure of enjoying these wings at an arena that I was working at recently... there aren't enough expletives in the entirety of human language to accurately convey how absurdly amazing these wings are. Wife in labor? Doesn't matter... go try these wings instead. Late for your own wedding? The bride and guests can wait... these wings could literally end wars. I put my down payment on my home with these wings in lieu of money. SO FKN GOOD read more

*this review is for the location next to Cosmic Coffee* These wings are POPPIN'. I love the unique concept of cutting the drums so that they are "lollipops". I am personally a huge fan of drums, and I'm so glad that this place is able to make the coveted drum even tastier and easier to eat. I got the Spicy Pineapple, Lemon Pepper, and Garlic Parmesan wings and let me tell you - they were AMAZING! My favorite was probably the Garlic Parmesan as they were crisp and had lots of flavor. I usually only go for dry rubs but was pleasantly surprised that the Spicy Pineapple was not overly syrupy and that the sauce wasn't too messy. It even had little chunks of pineapple which I enjoyed. This food truck is located right next door to Cosmic Coffee, so if you want to avoid the summer heat or grab a drink, you can head over there while you wait. When I went there, the wait was about 15 minutes, however you are warned about the wait time before hand and they take a phone number so that they can text you when your order is ready. My only gripe about this place is that it is kind of overpriced for the portions that you get. It costs $7 for just 5 wings, which isn't such a great deal considering you can get way more bang for your buck at other places. The fries are also pretty expensive, at $6.50 for a small order of garlic fries. I will say though that this place is one of the first chicken wing establishments where the fries were just as good as the wings, so take that as you will. read more

I got the garlic parm fries which were very good and the lemon pepper wings were meaty and good flavor. Cool atmosphere to hang out. Only downside is the price... $21 for 5 wings and fries is steep! Online ordering option only and then they charge service fees for me to pick it up and charge for sauces and other taxes and fees, so that was high to pay! Will go back if the occasion calls for it but I'm not gonna go out of my way like I did for this first visit . 4 stars for the food, atmosphere and the name of the food truck read more

For all my ranch Connoisseurs: THE RANCH HERE SLAPS. The fires are delish, I usually ask to get mine extra crispy. The sweet chili flavor is nice with a bit of a kick. Tommy Want Wingy - Chicken Wings Near Me - Austin, Texas

I really wanted to like this place. Especially since my husband loves chicken wings and really liked the chicken here. I thought it was just okay. The lemon pepper had a good balance of lemon and salt in it. The garlic parmesan wasn't bad either. The ranch on fire was a little tasteless. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to taste. Salt? Spicy pineapple was a little too sweet for my liking. The drummets were all a little too chunky and dry for my liking. What I had the most problem with was the service. Generally you expect a nice and friendly face when buying from a food truck but the guy at the truck was not too kind and a little curt in my opinion. Maybe he had a bad day? The weather was too hot? I asked if I can mix the tater tots and fries together and he gave a curt "no." Okay fine I get it. No flexibility. That's fine. I asked what peppers the Holy Shnikes sauce used so I can gauge how spicy it is to know if I can handle the hotness and he responded once again, curtly, "its proprietary." Gosh.. sorry I asked too many questions. I guess you just want customers to order and leave. No human interaction whatsoever. The Holy Shnikes ended up being quite spicy. I'm glad I got the sauce on the side for an additional $.75, as opposed to on the meat itself. But if you want to know whether they use habanero, carolina reaper or just plain jabanero, then sorry.. can't tell you. Wait was about 15-20 mins after you order. You give them your cell number and they text you when your food is ready. Its definitely a unique, possibly one of a kind place that serves lollipop chicken. But it doesn't give me a warm feeling after going there with unkind service. read more
