This is a small mom & pops shop ; very good food! Had the biscuits and gravy with house fries and some bacon........DELISH! I'm not the biscuits and gravy type girl but these were so good! Biscuit was cooked perfectly and the gravy had small chunks of sausage, enough to give it a small kick. Service was good, had to wait for about 20 mins outside but it was well worth it. Where I sat you could see the owner of this place cooking. Maybe that's why the food took so long to come out(it's only her cooking) but it is worth the wait. Went here for breakfast with my over 60 year old mother. We saw the chef step out of the kitchen not wearing a mask and return to cook food without one as well. As we placed our order, I politely asked that the chef wear a mask to prepare our food. The waitress was very kind in offering to take care of it, however the chef was very unhappy. She left the kitchen 2 separate times to yell out at my mom and me that she would in fact not be putting a mask on and was outraged at the mere suggestion. She yelled at us in front of a restaurant full of people that it was ridiculous we would ask that she put a mask on, even though we are now over a year into the pandemic. We heard they have a good breakfast at, but we would not know as we had to leave a place that treated us poorly and did not value our health and safety. read more

I came in to place an order to go and the small diner was relatively busy, but not every table was full. The bar was empty and had an older woman behind it putting in an order. After about 30 seconds or so of me standing there, she didn't do more than simply glance over but did address me and asked what I needed. I had a mask on and was the only one in the restaurant wearing one. I am used to this and was fine with it, but it was obvious that the server was annoyed. I said politely that I wanted to place a to-go order, and she said, "Breakfast or lunch?" I stated lunch and she simply shook her head no. Extremely confused, I asked, "No?" And she continued with the shaking of her head. Never once did she look my way, nor did she give me an answer as to why she was shaking her head "no" at me. I then stated, "Sorry, I'm confused." Another woman who worked there must've seen the interaction and came up to me. She explained that they would not be serving lunch due to it being too busy. She was at least more friendly and gave me an explanation as to why I was being told no. The woman shaking her head did not offer me any explanation, nor did she suggest/offer me to order a breakfast entre instead, etc. Where I appreciate the second woman's attempt in engaging me and giving me more of an explanation than the first woman, I will not be returning. read more

Food was delicious but service was terrible! My waitress took my order and only came back one other time to ask if I'd like more coffee. I said, "yes," but she never returned with the coffee. She walked by me another time without even asking how I was or if I needed anything. I had to call to her to get a refill on my water. Meanwhile, she was chatting it up with all the locals and some loud visitors who had apparently been there multiple times. I would have tipped her much better had there been any service, but she still got almost 20% because I'm not a jerk. read more

Finally we sat at the bar and were COMPLETELY IGNORED by the grumpy looking waitress and chef as they walked by us numerous times. Not even one "hello" or "welcome" or anything. Great location on the harbor with a nice view if you sit right by the windows up front (those are just tables for two, though). Small place with no frills. We went pretty early, so were seated and served rather quickly. Nice! I had "Mary's Eggs Benedict" which was a kind of southern-style benedict with biscuits instead of english muffins. They will substitute the muffins on request, but the biscuits are big and fluffy and worth a try. That was tasty, but the accompanying breakfast potatoes looked much better than they tasted. Pretty much flavorless. But the the breakfast was still very filling even without the potatoes. Husband had the western omelet and said it was cooked really well. It had red bell peppers instead of green (not his favorite), but he still finished it so I guess it was pretty good! I stopped in on a busy weekend & was seated at a 4 top and asked how many in my party I said just myself , immediately they made me feel I comfortable taking the table , I rushed through a simple order of two scrambled eggs and potatoes toast and included bacon, had a coffee and juice and they couldn't wait for me to rush through with a wait , I had offered to jump up to the counter when a seat became available as I saw people waiting that could use a table ,they told me don't worry about it , I received my bill and noticed I was charged $4.95 for 3 slices of bacon !!!! My simple breakfast was around $17 !!!!! Rather then review this charge And deal with in my face charges separately for a few cloves of bacon I simply paid and told myself skip the place forever next time visiting. There's nothing exceptional about 3 slices of bacon for $4.95 , moral of the story is don't take a 4 top when just you even if offered for an average breakfast at an above average price gouge ! read more

If I could give a negative stars, I would give -5 stars. My instinct was to leave before we ordered. I should've followed my instinct . We had a party of 4. Walked in to one couple eating breakfast, nobody else in the restaurant. The unfriendly waiter walks to our table, and this was his greeting "I notice that you are all looking at the breakfast side of the menu and we are done serving breakfast". That was pleasant . We ordered drinks, and I ordered water, 2 of our party ordered tea. My water looked brown. Needless to say, I didn't drink it. My husband and I both ordered the chef salad. We literally watch the lady in the back get a bag of salad out and with her bare hands, put it on a plate. At the same time, one of the other workers was at the counter counting money. After he was done counting, he pulls out silverware and starts rolling silverware without washing his hands in between. Not only that, but his hands were all over the tongs of the fork, spoon and knife. It was truly gross and my second gut impulse to leave kicked in. Got our salads, one at our table got a sandwich, the other a bowl of soup. I asked for lemon and balsamic vinegar. The waiter states they used the last lemons on the tea and he had no balsamic. The 2 that got tea pulled their lemons from the tea and handed them to me. They looked brown and old.. They were disgusting. I asked for oil and vinegar. I was brought a gross set of oil and vinegar containers. They looked like they had never, ever been washed. Then the waiter says "that's vegetable oil". Seriously? There was only a selection of salad, sandwich or soup on the menu and you don't even have the condiments for a salad?? The final straw was when one gentleman in our party went to the restroom. If he had went before we were served food, we definitely would have walked out. He came back and said that he couldn't wash his hands because there was feces on the facet. Where the heck is the health department ?? We left obviously feeling grossed out and sick. And lesson learned. Listen to my FIRST instinct !!! I don't understand all of the positive reviews on here. I saw the four stars on yelp. My mother, daughter, myself and two grand babies walked two blocks for what I thought was going to be an enjoyable lunch. We were on and off the trolley and decided Not to bring a stroller. When entering the restaurant there may have been two other tables with diners. The atmosphere was just OK. But the view was nice, we picked a table up front. We asked for a highchair for our 7mo old, but was told there is no room for a highchair in the restaurant. Our two year old sat in a big chair and we had to hold the baby thru out our dining experience. The less than pleasant male that delivered our food said they usually put babies in their strollers at the back of the restaurant. He also barked at my mother because she pulled a chair next to my daughter, looking at a map together, while the food was being cooked. Remember the place is practically empty. She was moving back to her seat when she saw the food coming, but obviously not fast enough for him. The food was terrible, chicken wrap that was suggested by the female server, and burger that came with a bag of chips was barely edible. No tea refills, no check back after food delivered. Very dissapinting experience. Waste of money. And hope you don't need to use the rest room, because it was out of order. read more

Quaint, descent food but just a little over-priced for what it is ($9 for a camel Ryder). The service however was atrocious. Sat down and waited 5 minutes with no menu (this was not rush hour, only 3 other tables) and when we asked for a menu we were told to wait, fairly rudely I might add. No one came to refill drinks and when I stopped one of the staff to get a refill I was treated like a hastle. Okay so we walked by this place the first night in town and looked at the menu, my first thought was "ehhh". The next morning there wasn't many places open for breakfast so we settled on coming here. Let me tell you, this isn't a place you settle for, this is a place that is at the top of your list that you come to before any place else. It's small, 10 tables, if that, and a couple of spots at the bar. It's a local mom & pop place that you can tell is family ran. The food was fantastic, so much so that we came here the next day! Hubby doesn't rave about food places too much since he works in a kitchen and has high expectations but he loved this place! We came back the next day for breakfast and got a simple egg toast and home fries/grits breakfast and it was delicious! If a place can make a breakfast as simple as that taste so amazing then they're doing something right! Try the cheesy grits, they're amazing!!! The breakfast sliders are great, they're offered in ham and bacon but I got one of each and they didn't disappoint. Hubby got the French toast which he absolutely loved and a side of bacon. This is where We go EVERYTIME we go to St. Augustine, right next to the Bay front Inn....they have EVERYTHING you could think of for breakfast, we've been going here for 30 years, and they definitely are more crowded, but you don't have to wait long, surprisingly.
