    Self service in the back

Casual and cozy Korean restaurant with AYCE banchan (side dishes). Specializes in noodle dishes such as naeng myun. You order and pay in the front and sit at one of the free tables. While you wait for your food, you can help yourself to utensils, water, tea and unlimited ban chan. Good for a quick meal but nothing fancy. Spicy cold noodles had a good chew as they make it in house. No tipping policy restaurant is a nice touch.

Went to try the beef noodle soup. Fried meat dumplings were ok. Free sides included macaroni salad, bean sprouts, spicy radish strips and kimchi. I wasn't clear about the self-serve aspect - order food from cashier and then help yourself to free sides and water or different teas (barley or cinnamon ginger) also get your own utensils and napkins. They bring the food to you and clean up after your done. So I did leave tip despite their No Tipping policy.

Not sure if this place got too popular but our bibimbap came out so fast that the rice was burnt like black on bottom while veggies were hardly cooked. The dumplings were terrible. Hard as rocks. Not sure Id give this place another chance. We actually returned a beef dish because it was so dry and hard like it was fried yesterday.

It's an interesting spot. We walk in and realized we could order up front. The menu has a myriad of soups (hot or cold), dumplings (steamed or fried), and bibimbaps. I was agonizing over all the types of dishes. I finally settled on squid bibimbap, and my friend had ordered the chicken knife cut noodle soup. I have to say that it's awesome to have options to serve yourself banchan (kimchi, macaroni salad, broccoli w/carrots, and julienne radish). It was right next to some awesome spots in Murray hill, so we decided to walk in to this restaurant since it said dumplings out on the front window. Plus, it was cold on Thursday evening, and we were just hoping for something that was warm. And it was great! It was delicious, and the chicken noodle was outstanding!

As a Korean who's lived in Korea for 6 months this brought me back to my time in Korea. The #1 nangmyeung soup was fantastic - absolutely one of the best broths I've ever had. I shared it among friends but there's a ton I'd like to try when I'm back next. Also, the owner is absolutely lovely. She's kind, is passionate about food, and wonderful to customers It's clean, affordable, great value, and supporting your local community !!! Viral for a reason

Really enjoyed the perilla leaf noodle here, and would 100% come back for it! A very low key restaurant where you self serve banchan and drinks too. Their kimchi felt very homemade and authentic too. We tried their classic cold noodles but we actually preferred their cold perilla leaf noodles and I still have cravings for this! Would 100% be back for this.

Came here around 4 on a Friday and it was pretty empty. Their order screen didn't seem to work so a worker took our order. Service was very friendly even though it's no tip. We ordered beef hot stone rice which tasted very good but came with very little meat. We also got the short ribs which were chopped up pieces of beef, not galbi style. Portion was tiny. The self serve appetizers were just 4 choices and were a nice touch but the kimchi didn't have much of a kick. We left pretty hungry because of the small portions. Be prepared to order more food if you decide to eat here and you won't be getting much meat. But overall the flavors were good and would recommend that you try if interested but with so many other Korean options within a 3 block radius, not sure if we'll be back. I gave 4 stars because food and service were good but minus a start for meat portion.

Heard good things about this place so came to visit! I got the beef noodle soup and my friend got the spicy mix noodle + mini katsu. The banchan is unlimited, and you go to grab it yourself. The lady working here was very nice as well. The portions are big and the food tastes homemade but very hearty. The noodles were well cooked, but I added more salt to my broth. This is a nice spot for a quick meal when the weather gets cold!

Food: I'll start off by saying it's good to have context that the owner is Chinese-Korean. The cuisine is from Northern China (region right above North Korea), which explains the watermelon used in the naengmyun (vs. Korean pear), Chinese peanuts as one of the banchans, and other small details. It's located in Flushing, a bus ride from Main St Flushing subway stop. I loved the spicy cold noodle, although I did crave some more protein to eat with the dish. I enjoyed the spare ribs dish. It was a lil pricey, but it was delicious. My partner loved the signature noodle (the one with the watermelon). It has a ton of buckwheat noodles. I wanted to try the kimchi dumplings, but they had sold out by that evening. Service: We were seated at a table and given menus. We went up to the front to order, and were given a # to leave at our table. When the food was ready, staff member brought our food to the table. While we were waiting for the food, that's when we went to the self-service station which had 4 side dishes (which included cabbage kimchi), waters, and silverware. Ambiance: It's a small restaurant: but cute and very homey. There's table seating for larger groups and a few counter seating right by the kitchen. People were also taking the food to-go. I haven't had cold noodles much before, but these were quite good on a hot day. I want to try this hot noodles when it gets colder out as well!

super friendly staff but slightly overhyped in my opinion. service is fast and I love the unlimited, self serve banchan bar though which also includes barley tea! We ordered - c2: cold noodle. the noodle was slightly overcooked and definitely not the best cold noodles I ever had, but was still solid - c4: spicy wheat noodle. this one was room temp and the noodles were pretty thick. not my favorite and also a bit heavier overall, pretty affordable and also a no tip business, and solid korean staples

After blowing up on Tiktok and see it on my FYP all the time, I dragged myself all the way out to Murray Hill to try out the cold noodles here. This casual Korean restaurant specializes in noodle dishes, and are well-known for their cold noodles. I came on a Friday for dinner and it wasn't busy at all. My friend and I got their signature cold noodles, soy cold noodles, and galbi. They have a self-serve banchan station that had high-quality and fresh ingredients. The signature cold noodles was delicious, came with lots of toppings, and amazing broth. Their soy cold noodles were good, but I think it just wasn't my kind of thing. And, their galbi was good but we were left a bit disappointed as the meat pieces came out in small chunks and was a bit dry. Overall, it was good but I don't think it was worth the hype or trip out if you live in the city.

Don't believe all the social media hype! I had high hopes for this place, as there are usually long lines out the door. I decided to come with a group of friends on a weekend, but around 3pm (late lunch, early dinner) so there wouldn't be a long line compared to peak lunch or dinner hours. Lucky for us, a group had just left and there was one empty table we got to sit at. When you are seated and given the menus, you decide what you want and then go up to the front register to order and pay on the spot as opposed to paying after you're done eating. This is a no-tipping establishment. After you order, you go to the back of the restaurant and self-serve the side dishes (banchan) that you want while you wait for them to bring you the food that you ordered and paid for. You're allowed unlimited banchan in the store during the entire meal. You also get a choice between room temp water and hot tea. Our table ordered 2 bowls of C1 (signature cold noodles) and N1 (Beef noodle soup). These were the menu best sellers and what we had seen people rave about on social media so of course we came all this way to try it! C1 ended up being a huge disappointment for us. We love cold noodles. This one, the flavor was off for us and we didn't enjoy the meatball and the beef slices were semi-tough. For N1, the beef noodle soup was packed with noodles but were more on the softer side (slightly overcooked) but we really enjoyed the broth, although a bit too salty. The beef on this one was more tender but still not a fan of it. Overall, I guess if you want to come here, pick a good time to come to avoid lines. And come for the service- but don't get your hopes up for the food. The banchan (side dishes) were pretty good but on the sweeter side for all of them. For mains though, we're good with sticking to our tried and true Korean restaurants elsewhere! Unfortunately, none of us finished our food- and we ended up only eating 1/3 of each bowl.

Only one thing to eat when it's over 100 degrees outside. COLD NOODLES! This restaurant was PACKED. Service is a bit slow - took 40 min for our food to come out but we helped ourselves to banchan while we waited. We had the pork jowl served with sauteed onions and sweet and sour pork to start. The pork jowl was a bit under seasoned but it was fine with the kimchi. The sweet and sour pork did not look like the picture but it was actually quite delicious and surprisingly sour! My daughter loved the signature noodle but i thought it was a tad sweet. I opted for the noodles in soymilk which was very good. Overall, a great no frills, refreshing meal on a hot day!

Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. We got the large beef combination platter which comes with ribeye, thin skirt, brisket, marinated kalbi, and marinated chuck flap. Most people stuck with water, while a couple got ginger ale. I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

But there's no denying that BCD has upped their soondubu game considerably in the last decade+ with a thicker, more deeply flavored broth, and now easily rivals my longtime favorite and gold standard, the OG So Kong Dong in Fort Lee. Then I stumbled into a hack that changed my view: lunch! I ducked in for a late lunch on a whim while walking by one day, and this turned out to be a much chiller hour, unhurried and no reservation needed. I was promptly seated, my order taken, and the banchan swiftly laid out. The banchan spread is solid across the board (the little fried fish does nothing for me, but seems to be a highlight for everyone else). I especially love the kimchi, near-perfect IMO, and the pickled cucumber. There's a modest lunch discount, which is a nice bonus for someone who likes to order aggressively. I usually get an oyster, seafood, or assorted soondubu (with a raw egg cracked in), danger spicy of course! Or go the C1 combo route with a galbi (marinated bbq beef short ribs) + smaller soondubu. It's an enormous amount of food, so I take most of the galbi home and feel no shame about it. The galbi, by the way, has also gotten noticeably better over the years - meatier, tender, and the flavor is on point. I've also enjoyed their bibimbap, bulgogi, jap chae, and seafood pancake. Finally, let's talk heat - this chili-head loooves fire! And BCD's danger level is one of the rare instances where the spice level actually meets my punishing tolerance for heat, not some pretense at "American spicy.," despite this being a chain. Their danger level actually means business and brings tears to my eyes, literally. It's still not my favorite place ambience wise, and dinner remains a contact sport I've mostly opted out of, as gone are the days that I can tolerate a culinary mosh pit, and any wait longer than 10 minutes (and only for a superlative place) will trigger an automatic ejection of my presence. But for lunch? Unexpectedly great. 4 stars for dinner, 5 for lunch.
