Alas, there's a new restaurant replacing the old Hansol (RIP), and appears to be another promising mom & pops Korean restaurant. The interior is nostalgic for sure - the layout is like that of its predecessor, but much brighter and with fresh coats of paint. My fiance and I came for dinner on a Friday night & were promptly seated. They've only opened fairly recently, but there were a few tables occupied already, and quite a few takeout orders. We ordered our usuals - kimchi stew for the fiance, and yukgaejang for me. Banchan came out shortly after, and we started with 4 but ended up trying 6 by the end of the night. The banchan is definitelty tasty, but the kimchi is not for spice wimps. Trust me when I say, it is SPICY. Our entrees came out not too long after that, and to my liking, each one was piping hot. Perfect for a cold winter night! Portions are pretty big for the price, and they don't skimp on the fixings either. My yukgaejang was perfectly spiced, had a deep beef broth flavor, and was actually less spicy than the kimchi. All the usuals are in there - glass noodles, healthy portion of beef, green onions, egg, and maybe a few pieces of gosari. Kimchi stew flavors were well balanced with good depth, and didn't err or being too sour. Service is friendly & fast. Our banchans never went empty, and our glasses were always filled quickly. The whole dinner was well priced too - $35.91 before tax, and I still had enough of my yukgaejang to take home. Card and cash are both accepted. Definitely worth trying, and a welcome addition to the area. Although I'm still saddened by Hansol closing and the fact that they don't have dakgaejang here, Duk Soo Goong shows a lot of promise. Looking forward to coming back to try other items!

    Sushi rolls

I got the worst sushi I have ever had here as take out a couple of days ago. They are incredibly cheap with the fish. They were more like rice rolls with a hint of fish. If you are going to sell sushi rolls like this you should not even sell sushi. The eel was especially terrible. They only added a sliver of eel to the role.

So glad we found this place! Came in after lunchtime on a Sunday and had the best cheonggookjang (extra fermented soybean soup) and haemul kalguksoo (seafood knife cut noodles). The side dishes were fresh and plentiful, and service was friendly. Hope to return soon.

10/10 recommend for quality Korean food. Reminds me of jipbap and something about home cooking just hits different. Portion sizes are huge, great value.

Lovely service and great banchan. Ordered the Galbitang and Seolleongtang. Galbitang comes with 3 huge bones and they cut it for you. Meat is fall off the bone, but the broth is slightly too salty. The Seolleongtang broth is milky and tastes amazing with some added salt. Not enough meat in it though!

Very nice clean place. The food was very fresh and home cooked taste. I finally found a spot with perfectly crispy rice in the bi bim bap. Souls and Mandu were all great. Driest time here and I'll be back.

They send you a text message reminder and you also have a15 minute grace period. Place is clean, just that the floor is a bit slippery. Since the place was packed there wasn't anywhere to put our bags so it did feel a bit crammed. Wished they got hooks at the bottom of the table. Food was goooooood. Ofc got a good variety of food from hot food to sushi and sweets. Hot food: -fried shu mai was nice and hot with a very thin wrapper so got that nice brittle crunch -sirloin was juicy -fried oyster was also really decent -eggplant tempura crunchy outside and nice and soft in the inside. Perfect texture since sometimes the eggplant is not soft enough imo Sushi: Their sashimi slices seem to got thinner but that's fine cuz we can order more. Yellowtail, salmon, and white tuna was supppper delish. White tuna will be my go to here now. The sushi rolls and nigiri were good too. Love the rice to fish ratio here since other ayce spams rice. Dessert: Jasmine milk pudding- this was more like Jasmine milk tea with pudding topping, but the tea was actually really floral. We all liked it. Every server was super nice and food came out not too late considering how packed they were. Again, really appreciate them being able to accommodate our change in reservation even though they were packed.

The sushi rolls actually tasted good and didn't have excessive rice like some other AYCE places to fill you up. I don't usually care much for noodles at sushi restaurants, but their udon was surprisingly very tasty. Service: 5/5 Most sushi restaurants have maybe 2 guys behind the sushi counter preparing sushi. Akino had like 6-7 guys back there. We ordered on the ipad and a few minutes later the food comes out. The service was really fast and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance: 5/5 The ambiance is modern and energetic with a lively dining room that fits the fast-paced AYCE experience. The restaurant is clean, well-lit, and comfortable for both small groups and larger gatherings. It can get busy and loud during peak hours, but the upbeat atmosphere adds to the fun.

We are very familiar with the area and must have walked passed this neatly tucked away gem without ever noticing it. Our son had mentioned that he and his friends have been going to a sushi place near Asian Jewel, our former dim sum go to place. When we sat down to order, my wife and I were quite impressed by how clean and cozy the restaurant was. Kind of on the small side with a few tables on the ground floor level. The menu offered cooked food as well as fresh sushi. We decided to start with the sushi & sashimi combo. They also offered a sushi or sashimi a la carte menu where you can choose to order by the piece. I believe that if you choose one of their standard menu sushi or sashimi orders and pay with cash, the a la carte price per piece of sushi / sashimi is only $1.35 / piece! Well we were famished and in addition to the sushi & sashimi plate we ordered two rounds of sushi & sashimi a la carte. Their salmon and yellow tail was so fresh and so scrumptious as was the sweet shrimp. The tuna was also very yummy and did not disappoint! When all was said and done we were quite happy with our experience with Yoi Sushi Japanese. I highly recommend Yoi if you're anywhere near Tangram Mall or Asian Jewel and have a hankering for yummy sushi. They also offer cooked food as well as ramen bowls.

I arrived at 6pm and there were a few customers already dining, by the time it was 7pm, it was almost full. Was in a nice group who, like me, enjoys a place with great food. We started with soft shell crabs, edemame, chicken katsu, gyoza, and lots of drinks. Peter, our bartender, was awesome. As you will see in my photos, he can make some well adorned drinks and he is a nice guy as well. I pretty much stuck to a smooth Nigori Sake they stock. I chose the omakase dinner which was fabulous. The sushi is very fresh and it just keeps on coming. Meanwhile Felicia, our server, was constantly checking in to see if everything is going well. She had a easy going quality about her, and very calm and smooth in bringing our meals. This turned out to be quite a nice night. Wabi Nori is a great date place, or a place to bring a family. I would certainly return for the quality of everything, atmosphere, service and food!!!

We tried Kaizen before and the quality/atmosphere is very similar so they probably have the same suppliers and maybe even same owners just rebranding. We ordered 2 mixed drinks from happy hour and they were fine but very sweet and not much alcohol. We also got the 6 handroll combo that came with spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail, scallop, crab and lobster. I asked for less rice but the waitress said they don't put a lot of rice so I let it be. It was A LOT of rice. We also couldn't taste the difference between the rolls because all the fish was super chopped up and heavily seasoned so everything was mushy and tasted the same. Although service was good, we won't be back and can't recommend this spot :(

The nigiri was good as well, they don't use toppings that you normally see at other omakases (of similar price point) so the nigiri was more similar to the nigiri served at authentic japanese omakases (not sure if this is Japanese owned but I don't think so). Nigiri was also not the typical basic fish (e.g salmon, unagi), but fish like barracuda and kinmedai. For dessert, we had fior di latte ice cream which was amazing, I still think about it, and they were kind enough to give us an extra one. Service was great and not too talkative or invasive. They gave us a letter at the end which showed everything we ate at the omakase that day and personalized with your name on it which I thought was nice. Not sure if they changed the course throughout the day though since some of what was on the letter was not what we had during the course. They also gave us a candle. It is $165 for a 13 course - it also comes with appetizer and dessert as well. The place is located inside Siam Thai - behind a bookshelf, the vibes are immaculate back there. The chief was so friendly and took his time to explain each dish to us and also took time to chat with us which I thought was really nice especially since I have mainly been to "fast casual" omakase locations recently where they don't really chat with you. There was a good variety of appetizers, fish and dessert. The appetizer options were so unique and the platting was so pretty. The fish options were also very plentiful and I liked the topping that they put on top of each one, the rich was not as warm and soft as I would usually like it but they paired well with the fish. The portion sizes were also pretty large which I thought was nice especially since we were paying about $165 a person. If you are getting sake, they do let you sample the sake before opening the whole bottle. The presentation of the opened sake was also so fancy. Overall - if you want a more traditional omakase experience, I highly recommend checking this place out. The vibes are immaculate and you will have a good time chatting with the chef while enjoying your food!
