Seafood tofu
Jing K.

Such a wonderful restaurant run by the nicest ladies. They definitely have a nice flow of regulars that the staff knows by name and preferences. The tofu stew was delicious and the broth was the perfect blend of spiciness and rich flavoring. The pork cutlets were crispy and moist. Definitely coming back soon

I really liked this place. It's a small business that does home style Korean food well. Though the space is small they had a steady influx of customers for take out and eat in. The food is made to order and it's so homey. The portions are ginormous and tasty. My beef bulgogi stew was so packed with beef. The katsu was two layers of crispy goodness. Stew was hearty and spicy. The banchan is fresh and refillable. The wait staff are all attentive and have great suggestions. I even saw them reheat someone's stew cuz they stepped out of the restaurant to take a phone call. I would highly recommend.

Generous portions and bold, flavorful dishes. Korean comfort food at its best. Definitely will be going back.

The mix stew was great, super filling, and they do not skimp on ingredients. The Rose pasta was perfectly cooked, it seems like they use linguine so the sauce coats the noodles super well. If you love bacon, this is for you. Affordable! Delicious! Amazing Portions! My partner and I truly enjoy korean food and this little spot did not disappoint. The food was so good, we went a second time and got the Kimchi Stew (packed with flavor, pork, and kimchi) and the Bacon Carbonara. I took off one star solely because the banchan was ok... service was quick and efficient. They do have an english speaking server for those of you who don't speak korean. The restaurant itself is quite small but it's clean and cozy. The seating may fit around 15-20 people max. Not ideal for big groups. Will come back again!!

When I first walked in, it looked like a little mom and pop dumpling store. They provided a warm ambiance with a cozy home feeling. The sides were just okay, however once the food arrived we were all pleasantly surprised. The cream shrimp pasta was amazing, the rice cake dumpling soup was just what my tummy wanted, the don katsu was nice n crispy, and finally the spicy soft tofu noodle soup was outstanding. The server was friendly and she made sure all our expectations were met. The portions were large with reasonable prices.

Nothing bad to say about this place. Affordable for Korean cuisine. Reminds me very much of chungmoo restaurant vibes! Kimchi stew was so delicious and you can tell they used great aged kimchi for it. Shrimp cream pasta was so creamy and flavorful without being overly salty. Donkatsu was great value and crispy! The sauce was slightly warm as well. They refill your banchan and portion sizes are large! Would definitely come back.

Little no thrill restaurant that serves up comfort food. I came here on a Saturday for lunch and had to wait a bit as there were not many seats in the restaurant. However, the staff was busy with all of the take out orders that kept piling in. The banchan was good but nothing to rave about, but their food lived up to its hype. I got the rose carbonara and it came with many pieces of bacon and the sauce was very rich and thick. My friends got the kimchi stew and bulgogi pot. The portions were large and enough for a second meal! It was a tad salty but still very comforting for a cold day. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes!

Banchan. I'd rather have a small plate of kimchi. Did not like these.

Finally got a chance to come here and no, I did not order the popular pasta or donkatsu. The place is named I am Kimchi, so I had to order something with kimchi in it! I'll get into that soon. Small place overall, 5 tables or so. Very minimal inside but cozy. Majority of the menu is in Korean, ask for the English menu (the take out pamphlet) if you need to. Service was ok. They get busy with people coming in to pick up and the phone calls. Just have to be patient. It was nothing unreasonable. I ended up ordering the KIMCHI JJIGAE. The "apps" or banchan that came were nothing special and probably the least favorite thing of the whole meal. At least give me a small plate of kimchi! However the main event meal was a hit. Probably one of the best kimchi jjigae I've had. The kimchi had a pleasant funk (a good thing), it wasn't too spicy either. The tofu was silky smooth, the pork was tender and NOT chewy or overcooked. Everything was perfect even the small bowl of rice that it came with. Each white rice grain that reminds me of sushi rice, ready for a dunk into the soup. Made me order a bag of kimchi to go. Definitely recommend & will have to try the other popular dishes!

Nice place. It was clean, well lit, and the service was quick and people were friendly. I ordered pork donkatsu and spicy carbonara. It was good and I love how the donkatsu sauce was warm. The price is affordable. I will come back again to try other dishes. They also provided a variety of banchan that was good as well.

Banchan
Sam Y.

Street parking only. Q65 and Q27 are nearby. Few tables, though nicely spaced apart. Set up well for takeout orders as well. The banchan are refreshing accompaniments to the dishes - pickled radishes, cabbage salad, and kimchi. Everything has a satisfying bite and flavor. The Gal Bi Tang (beef short rib soup) is very flavorful and not overly spicy. The beef was tender. They give a generous portion, though I wish there were some vermicelli instead of all the bean sprouts. The Spicy Squid & Pork w/ Rice has a good amount of kick. The sauce goes well with the rice. The proteins are cooked perfectly. The Don Katsu (w/ or w/out cheese) is a generous portion! The katsu is crispy and juicy. Definitely a dish I have to share with someone else. Overall, a great Korean comfort food restaurant.

Mixed Stew and Shrimp Aglio Olio Pasta
Kerrie C.

Came here for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my boyfriend. We were seated right away. The place is small with only 5 tables (two of which only seat two) so there is a possibility you may need to wait for a seat during peak hours. There was a steady flow of customers so all the tables were always full when we were there. The food was super affordable; most of the items on their menu range from $11-$15. The portion of food was also larger than some other restaurants I've been to if I were to order the same thing elsewhere. We got the mixed stew and the Shrimp Aglio Olio Pasta; both very delicious and flavorful. We left full and satisfied. I definitely recommend coming here to try and will be coming back!

Don katsu

To put simply, dining at I am Kimchi felt like the nostalgic experience of eating at a friends house for dinner. The inviting staff, as well as the homely atmosphere, paired with the courteous service made it feel like we were treated like family. There is nothing more comforting than eating somewhere with such a homely and kind atmosphere. To top of it, the food was great, the quality of each dish was great, and the price for the portion sizes were amazing. Each dish could probably feed two people, for cheaper prices than I've seen at most places! The don katsu was crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, and the cheese, freshly melted was soft and supple. Perfect paired with the sauce. The spicy pork was tender, soft, and flavorful. It was amazing when paired with the fish soup and side dishes. Overall, had a great experience here, would definitely come back just for the service, and the food here is definitely a plus. TLDR; amazing service, great food, extraordinary pricing and portion sizing.

Donkatsu with cheese
Shashi R.

Large portions. Fast service. Reasonable prices Lots of flavor! Donkatsu is huge with tons of cheese. It comes with katsu sauce and rice. The frying is good, the pieces are thick and juicy. It comes out steaming hot so don't burn yourself. Spicy Carbonara is more than a medium spicy dish. The burn lingers a bit. It's no problem for someone who eats spicy food. It would be a problem for someone who doesn't. The sauce is thick and cheesy with bacon pieces. The portion is enough for two people or one really hungry person. It comes out steaming hot. You can order as soon as you sit down. I was able to go there, wait for a table, order two dishes, eat and pay all in less than an hour. It only has space for around 15 people but the tables move quickly and so does the food.

Don Katsu with Cheese - two generous cheesy cutlets!

This place is a little of a hidden gem and not quite like other Korean restaurants. But no gatekeeping here! We also came at a weird lunch time around 2pm so it wasn't really busy and we were seated right away. Once you enter, you'd quickly notice the very detailed beautifully hand painted murals on the walls and an abundance of painted butterflies. The attention to detail is impeccable! The menu is also very cute and I'm guessing handmade. It was pretty detailed and we appreciated learning about each dish before deciding what to order. We ended up ordering the Kimchi Pancake with seafood, the spicy bulkoki udon and the jeyuk udon. The kimchi seafood pancake was super crispy and filled with squid and shrimp! It also came with a semi sweet dipping sauce that paired nicely. Both udons came out piping hot and fresh! Udon had a nice chew to it, was loaded with vegetables as well as meat for each dish. The egg was fried and did not have a runny yolk. For sides, they gave us 4 things- a tomato salad, kimchi cucumbers, braised string beans, and bean sprouts. The tomato salad came in this cute apple shaped dish but neither of us really cared for it- this is completely biased though since we're not really fans of tomato. What we really did love was the kimchi cucumbers! Also at the end, they served us 3 pieces of cantaloupe which were very sweet. Overall, yummy food, cute shop, and friendly/nice staff! I'd come back to try their other food options in the future!

There's 2 waitresses and one busser, but I felt only one of the waitress was pulling the weight, while the other (maybe she's the owner?) mostly chatted with one of the table customers. I felt bad for our waitress she was so busy with fulfilling takeouts + dine ins and the dishes require a lot of servicing table side. She couldn't catch 1 second of break :( Food wise, we got their 2 person combo of spicy pork gamja tang and spicy rice cake which came with the steamed egg. Everything was so good, egg was extra fluffy, rice cake was delicious and the meat came right off the bones. They take a good variety of side dishes. My partner wasn't a fan of the gamja tang but due to feeling it's a hassle to eat meat with bones, so those who fee sim may agree. We also asked for the fried rice after we finished the gamja tang, for 2 servings I think it was $4.75 or something. I really enjoyed it but I guess I like scorched rice, also something my partner doesn't enjoy so those we feel sim just note. Environment feels very old school, well worn. Feels cozy. It can get loud very quickly on a Saturday night as this place seems to be a hit for large parties. Since the wait staff is short handed, expect a bit of a wait for things. Don't come if you're in a rush.

Geo Si Gi is highly known for their signature gamjatang (spicy pork bone soup). Ordered the Gamjatang & Grilled Mackerel Set - $52.95 (for 2) The gamjatang is perfectly spiced - bold and warming without overwhelming heat (and trust me, my spice tolerance is low!). Instead of the usual red kimchi, they load it with long strips of green napa cabbage, cut right before your eyes before serving. Some bean sprouts, watercress on top, with tender potatoes, chewy rice cakes, and massive pork bones that fall right off - so meaty and flavorful. Served with a side of sweet mustard sauce. Pure comfort on a cold day. The grilled mackerel was enormous and incredibly plump - way bigger than expected! As an oily fish, it's rich and satisfying, but we barely made it through a third. If you're a mackerel fan like me, it's a must-order. . Banchan were simple and homey: nothing flashy, just solid classics. Bonus: it comes with fluffy steamed egg (jjim) that rounds out the meal perfectly. I can eat an entire bowl of rice with just the steamed egg . This set was massive for two - we left with about 1/4 of the soup and 2/3 of the fish! Pro tip: Save some broth and ask them to make fried rice with it at the end. Game-changer. . Highly recommend for hearty, soul-warming Korean food in Flushing!

A couple of us shared a $13 bottle of the green grape flavor of Chum Churum, a soju. In terms of banchan, there was a bunch. Everyone got a cold and refreshing cabbage soup as well as a very tasty version of Braised Tofu/Dubu-jorim/두부조림. Once we ordered, we also got a bunch of other banchan, including cabbage, radish, and cucumber Kimchi, broccoli and cauliflower Namul, Marinated Mushrooms/Beoseot Bokkeum/버섯볶음, Anchovies With Peanuts/Myeolchi Bokkeum/멸치볶음, and Potato/Gamja Salad/감자샐러드. One of the other things brought out was a pretty tasty version of Raw Soy Sauce Marinated Crab/Ganjang-Gejang/간장게장. Most of these were refillable. The first actual thing that arrived was something that I can't eat, the $22.99 Seafood Pancake/Haemul Pajeon/해물파전. I have a cephalopod allergy, or in other words, anything with tentacles, so I avoid squid and octopus, and seafood pancakes always contain one of those two. Everyone else enjoyed it, though. The pajeon I could eat was the Kimchi Jeon/김치전 for a dollar less. It was pretty tasty, though I prefer other spots that had a bit more of a crisp. Next was one of their signatures, the grilled duck. Going from online reviews, we went with the non-spicy version, as people prefer it, as the spicier marinade overpowers the duck. This was the $29.99 Sang Ori Gui/생오리구이. The sliced duck was on a hot, sizzling plate, with there also being a lot of grilled onions and scallions. The duck had a mix of pieces, ranging from fatty to less so, and had a nice mix of textures. This was easily one of my favorites, though I liked it even more when paired with the ssamjang that arrived with the BBQ, as the sauce balanced the light fattiness. Arriving at a similar time was the last thing I couldn't eat, the Spicy Stir-Fried Baby Octopus on Iron Plate/Jjukkumi Cheolpan Bokkeu/철판쭈꾸비볶음, for $30.99. I couldn't try the octopus, but the portion was plentiful, and I had a bit of the noodles on the bottom after making sure there were no tentacles, as well as trying the sauce. The sauce was tasty, spicy, and very flavorful. We went with two of the Korean BBQ meats, one beef and one pork. My preference of the two was surprisingly the $49.99 Charcoal Grilled Marinated Beef Ribs/Yangnyeom Galbi/양념갈비. This also came with two veggies: kabocha squash and asparagus. The beef was extremely tender, had the perfect mix of fat and meat, and had only a light sweetness from the marinade. This was absolutely delicious and very much worth the price point. Also tasty was the Grilled Pork Belly/Samgyeopsal/삼겹살, for $36.95. This also came with a few things, including cabbage and a large mushroom. The pork belly was delicious, being just fatty enough and very tender as well, with a mild chew. The BBQ came with a few extra side dishes. This included a tasty steamed egg/Gyeran-jjim/계란찜, greens, an onion salad, ssamjang, salt, and a small boiling pot of soybean stew/doenjang jjigae. They were all tasty, though nothing particularly notable outside of the portions being generous. Also, at the end of the meal, they gave us some sujeonggwa. Not much for me to complain about this place. The food was very tasty overall, and the service was wonderful. I would go back and order a full beef BBQ set.
