We've been here several times, including around May 2026, and had pretty solid experiences. Today, however, was a complete disaster. Something has clearly changed -- new management, chef, or recipes -- because the food was nothing like what we remembered. We're Korean, so we're pretty familiar with Korean flavors, and the pork galbi was a huge disappointment: smaller portions (as compared to the past visits) overly salty and sweet, lacking depth, tough, overcooked, and barely lukewarm. The service was even worse. We sat in the back room, where it was nearly impossible to get anyone's attention. We had kids who needed rice and steamed eggs. The rice finally arrived lukewarm, the meat was cold, and the steamed eggs took over an hour to arrive. By then, we had basically lost our appetite. The hostess was aware of the situation and promised us two steamed eggs, but when we mentioned it to our waiter, his tone was dismissive and belittling, as if we were asking for something unreasonable. We were literally just trying to get the food we ordered for our kids. Our Korean grandmother, who had liked this place before, disliked everything and said the food tasted heavily of MSG and salt and was very different from previous visits. Meanwhile, the table behind us had dirty dishes sitting there from a previous party the entire time we were there. The table next to us was also complaining about the service. Even if you asked for something, there's a good chance they will ignore your request or forget about it. We came back because we had enjoyed this place before. Unfortunately, this visit was so bad that we won't be coming back. Instead of being treated like a paying customer, it felt like they were doing us a favor. I am conflicted with this review. We've been here for dinner a few times and the KBBQ has been really good. So if you want KBBQ, they use wood fire instead of gas which definitely gives added smoky flavor to the meats. The marinades are also flavorful. My complaint is we went for the lunch special today which seems like a great deal, about $19-25 for an entree and small soup. Not bad. Our party ordered a meal each, squid and soondubu, kalbi and kimchee jjigae, croaker and soondubu and mackerel and soybean jjigae. Three things disappointed me, the soondubu had no depth and was only spicy. The kalbi was a good amount but clearly most of the pieces were from around the bone. Lastly, although we had clearly emptied our banchan, there was no offer for refills. I know we could have asked but I am used to the staff proactively asking. Maybe my mistake was going for the lunch special but isn't it there so you could experience their food at a smaller scale at a decreased price? I don't recall the soondubu being so bad when we were there for dinner. Hoping this was a one off. Giving it the average of 3 stars, 4 for the dinners I had there, not for this lunch which would be a 2. Seasoning of banchan and other main dishes were good, no complaints. We ordered marinated pork for grilling which comes with banchan (fish cakes, marinated spinach, bean sprouts, kimchi, cucumber, wood ear mushrooms, radish, etc.), lettuce, bean paste, raw onions, peppers, and garlic. The meal also came with steamed egg and a miso-based tofu stew. Both were delicious. The grilled meat was cooked perfectly and very juicy. The grill uses charcoal, rather than gas, which seems rare in restaurants. I enjoyed this meal very much and liked the food here better than many other Korean bbq restaurants in NYC. Service: Service was average. They take staff take your order and cook your meats for you, but after that, they don't come to check in on you. Ambiance: Seating is comfortable and spacious here. I've been enjoying their food here for a couple of months. They have a good lunch special, my favorites are spicy pork spicy calamari pork ribs, and kimchi jjigae. I really like their pork ribs BBQ on open fire grill. I think they have four different ladies continuously coming back to cook the BBQ, can't go wrong with that. I love their one corner table in the back love this table with my Bambina so that nobody bothers no one. I always sit on this table. Their Banchon is pretty good. Came in to try lunch with friends. We order 2 pork galbi (spicy) very tasty and plentiful. Lots of side diahes garlic mushrooms, brocoli, kimchi, sweet soy jalapeños, egg salad, pickled dikon, fried mackerel with peanuts, all the sides were very tasty. The best was the steamed egg, fluffy, delicate and savory! Server was courteous, attentive and cooked the galbi perfectly. The only issue we had was that the exhaust system at our table did not seem to be working. It got pretty bad that the server decided to cook the pork at another grill because the smoke was everywhere and my eyes were bothering me. I will definitely come back with the family as the tables and the chair set up is not only comfortable but spacious for large groups. Great lunch experience! The bad side was the ventilation, the pork galbi at our grill caused a lot of smoke and the exhaust could not deal with it. I was concerned about going to this place because of the reviews, but I decided maybe it wasn't too bad, boy was I wrong. Their attitude was ridiculously disrespectful. I wouldn't wish this service on my worst enemy. They were even so rude to my friend who is Korean, and even he was shocked at the amount of disrespect. They ignored everything we said and just tossed our plates in front of our faces and then never returned. Over the years esp with the recent inflation, I do feel like many Korean restaurants give less side dishes now or less portions of each side dish. Not here, here they are so generous. There were at least 12 small side dishes and steamed egg and bean paste soup, and tofu stew. Like I could've ate the side dishes and be full. We came for the bogo pork and it was so worth it. This place was so good, i went back the following week to relive the meal. I got the pork galbi twice, decided to add the seafood pancake the second time. Everything is fresh and delicious, what looks to be an egg soufflé and broccoli with imitation crab meat were especially my favorites. The seafood pancake is a must get. The servers are busy running around making sure your meat is prepared perfectly. The place does get pretty smoky and although it was a chilly night, they had to open the double doors to get fresh air in so pack a sweater. We actually stumbled upon it when we could not get a table at another restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised.The staff was very welcoming and professional. If you are looking for a place to eat and converse with family and friends without disturbance, this is the place; the staff will NOT service you. It was so bad you could see the smoke fill the restaurant. They tried keeping the doors opened but that made everyone so cold. Seems like they need to invest and put the energy to fix their ventilation issue. Speaking of the food, these Korean restaurants, we don't expect 5-star Michelin food, but atleast the food should be average. But the food was also quite mid. There are ventilation issues at this restaurant that is very concerning. It poses serious health risks for customers and also the employees. Last time I was dining here, the smoke was so bad I had to keep leaving for fresh air. Even outside the restaurant; it was hard to breathe because of the smoke. When you walk in; you can see the grey smoke in the air. This tells me they have inadequate vents that are not pulling air out with enough pressure and it's stagnant inside and outside the establishment. I'm actually very upset for the employees and looking into filing a complaint with EPA or with the city. If I was an employee at this place I would be filing a complaint with OSHA. read more

Over the next few visits, the portion sizes grew inconsistent, not sure because we aren't Korean speakers, but it does make me wonder a bit. After much debate, settled for Pork Rib BBQ. I really didn't have much expectations since most BBQ places settle for "sugar bomb" when they are not confident about their trade. Yes, they are sweet beyond edible most of the time, most of the places. The server actually was on point to begin with. She cooked the original Pork BBQ first and then the Spicy BBQ on a separate grill so we can enjoy original and spicy as they were meant to be. She started off the gate with a gold medal already. All of the food, including the Banchans, was perfectly seasond, and none were overpowering one another. Service, you ask? Banchan was replenished throughout without us having to ask. The kimchee was nicely fermented and they didn't give a lot of tofu which is nice. I've never had a worse dining experience than this. Usually it's just "average." This place is literally a scam. I wish I could give negative stars. go to AYCE KBBQ instead. this place is mediocre AND overpriced. for $50 you get like 8 pieces of meat. Portion sizes are so tiny they didn't even bother to get the grill prepped for us, they just brought out a portable stove despite ordering 2 dishes from the Grill BBQ section that costs 30~50 each. Don't expect anything for that price though it's literally just average quality meat. Their dipping sauce is 90% salt which only upgraded the food to "bearable." Service? Nobody refilled my tea. There was a disgusting amount of crumbs under my table when I sat down. Heck even the MENUS had crumbs all over it.  One of the waitresses pushed my chair to get past instead of walking a few more steps and going around without bothering the guests (which, I was not sitting as close to the table because, like I said - crumbs on the floor). Best of all, boss lady tried to accuse us of using fake bills. Woman has never held a new crisp bill before, absolutely BONKERS. [*Went to teller this morning and confirmed they are legit old style bills.]  For $100 dinner, not including tips! I should be stuffed AND taking stuff home. I was barely full.
