I've been to the Jongro BBQ in KTown Manhattan before, but this is the first time I went to the Flushing location. My friend chose this for his birthday and I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to find parking in the lot shared with HMart, Pho Grand, KTV, Morning Glory, and other stores. We also did not have to make a reservation on a weekday night and got seated immediately upon walking in. The layout and decorations reminds me of the KTown location, but this is much better in terms of convenience and wait time. We received a thick menu and ice water once we were seated at our tables. The tables are very long and can fit around 8 people even though there is only one grill. One of my friend cannot eat pork, so we ordered two medium beef combos - one marinated and one non marinated. The banchans came floating out once we placed the order. There was kimchi, broccoli, radish, corn macaroni, perilla, and more! Theyre also unlimited refills! My favorites that are complimentary are the steamed egg and the tofu soup. I like eating rice with the soup! The meats were all very delicious! They also gave a basket of lettuce to wrap your meats. My favorite part is that the servers cook the meats for you and place them on the rim of the grill once ready. Overall, the two orders was enough to fill 5 people comfortably. In addition, we ordered two corn cheese which is what me and my friend always look forward to especially when it comes out hottt! After dinner, there's even vanilla Ice-Cream for everyone! We were in Bayside for errands and decided to B have lunch here. We have been to Jongro BBQ in the city and wanted to see how this location compared. Unfortunately, not well. Banchan was on although the kimchi was really fermented so too vinegary for Cathie. Maybe they save the good kimchi for dinner. I got the Kalbi and mul naengmyun lunch special and Cathie had the yook gejang stew lunch special. Both were just ok. They put extra sauce on top of the Kalbi, which made it too sweet. Tasty Food, But Turn Down the Rap, Please! As a non-meat eater, Yep Jongro BBQ isn't exactly my dream restaurant--but I have to admit, the tofu stew pot was surprisingly delicious. It was flavorful and comforting, and the banchans (those tasty Korean side dishes) were all fresh and really enjoyable. I've tried the japchae before--it was okay, but I've had better elsewhere. The vibe here is energetic to say the least--rap music playing loudly and lots of chatter. It's probably not the best choice if you're dining with elderly guests or anyone sensitive to noise. That said, I did notice they have private rooms for larger parties (8 or more), which might be a good option if you're looking for a quieter space. While my own food options were limited, the rest of my group--full-on carnivores--loved everything and left very happy. It was my first time at Jongro BBQ, and I was excited to try it. I am always up for an amazingly authentic dining experience. I was there for an early dinner and we were seated immediately on a weekday. The staff couldn't be nicer as we placed our order for a soft tofu stew, Korean steamed egg dish and Korean seafood kimchi pancake to start. We decided on a large mixed protein platter which had a generous amount of USDA Prime beef galbi and brisket and premium pork belly along with thickly sliced king oyster mushrooms. We were presented with a nice variety of small vegetable side dishes better known as banchans. It was a perfect accompaniment to the meal. Our server was very attentive and kindly refilled our vegetable sides several times throughout dinner. He also changed our grill grates and expertly cut up and sliced the various cuts of meat presented to us. The scallion pancake was good not as packed with seafood like other Korean places I've been too. I've been coming to Jongro for years. It used to be decent, but recently I noticed the food quality and portion sizes have decreased while prices have increased. We would order the same things but never be satisfied as compare to before. Food also doesn't taste the same. It's very disappointing when your usual go to place has gone down drastically. Our first time visiting Jongro. Popped in for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon around 2:45. We were still able to order off the lunch menu which was good but we also ordered a marinated kalbi entree and kimchi pancake as well. The kalbi from the lunch combo tasted better than the prime kalbi entree version according to my son. Service was ok, they brought out our spicy pork/tofu soup lunch combo very late and it was lukewarm so not sure what happened as it wasn't busy at that time. Well, let's just say I've been to much better Korean BBQ. We had a party of 3, and we each ordered simple things: cow tongue, marinated beef and another beef: including 18% tip, it all equalled to 144.00. That's absolutely insane, they didn't give us much beef because we were all still starving after we left. It was good, but it wasn't 144.00 good. Their sides they give you are terrible, the worst choices I've ever had for Korean BBQ. Check out my photo - those are the stupid sides we got. What kinda place is this? And they have their water in a plastic tupperware, it honestly looks so dirty I tried not to think about it as I was pouring my drink. I'm a smaller person, and their two stall bathrooms are so tiny you can barely walk into the stall itself and close the door behind you. I will say they were quick with service, but that's about the only thing they had going for them. Just so you know if you've never been here, this place is on the 2nd floor - which you have to take an elevator. So don't think you're going to find it off the street. Hmm has the quality of Jongro gone down recently? I used to come decently often two years ago. I wanted to try it again this Friday night. There was no wait, but it was decently packed! We ordered a seafood pancake, beef brisket, and beef short rib. My favorite is the steamed egg and bean paste soup that comes "free" with your order. Super delicious every time! The seafood pancake was also flavorful despite not having much seafood in it. The meat, however, was not great. The beef brisket was too thick and slightly gritty. The cuts were really good just a bit expensive in my opinion but I don't think you can find these quality of cuts anywhere in flushing. I've tried a couple meats here but my favorite has to be the USDA prime Kalbi and USDA prime ribeye- its super tender! I feel like for two people you can order about 2 or 3 meats and already be full since it comes with many banchans, a steam egg, and a soup. The staff are very attentive - they cook the meats for you and after each cut, they give you some time to eat the meat before moving onto cooking the next. For the quality of the cuts, it's not worth it. When I first had Jongro in Manhattan, I remember enjoying my meal. But I'm not sure if the location changes their quality, but the experience this time around did not meet the same positivity. The place was more spacious and laidback feeling than Manhattan's location. The servers are pretty much around you the whole time to grill. The Kalbi tasted good but It did not have to cost that much for what it is. The Pork Belly was a bit dry, but had an equal ratio of oily fat and juicy meat. They give a few short minutes between each meat for you to eat before working up the grill again. Maybe they'd give you a break if you ask, but otherwise, they think you're in a rush to chow down! I tried their Ox Bone Soup for the first time, and it was a huge bowl! It had several bone marrows inside, so this feels like a bang for your buck. There is a subtle meaty flavor, but if you aren't paying attention, it kind of just tastes like salty soup. Our favorite dish was probably the egg souffle, which they steam on the spot. Came here with 2 friends on a Saturday around 8pm. They told us there would be a 30-40 minute wait but it was much shorter than that - ended up being around 15-20 minute wait. The nice thing about this location is that there are a lot of stores nearby, and even 40 minutes can go by fast. The parking lot was packed so we just did street parking not too far away. We ordered the premium pork jowl, marinated kalbi, beef brisket, vegetable gobdol, and buckwheat noodles in cold water kimchi broth. As someone who rarely gets KBBQ, they do cook it for you so no worries if you don't know how to cook the meat. Service was ok, not hard to flag someone down as busy as they get, just to get a new set of chopsticks or napkins, or a spoon. I feel like the amount we ordered was decent! We finished just right without much leftovers. The sides were great, especially the steamed egg. The one thing I didn't really like, leaving this review 4 stars, was that the bathroom was VERY dirty. It felt like a porter potty at a festival, maybe just slightly better because of the immense amounts of toilet paper scattered on the floor in such a small stall. Prices are great! 8 of us went on a Tuesday to celebrate a friend's birthday so it wasn't too crowded. (I don't know if they do anything for birthdays, we mentioned it to the server but they didn't do anything) Service is okay, everyone is very friendly but nobody goes above and beyond. Absolute terrible communication by staff. We called earlier and asked what time is last seating. The hours state 11pm is closing time and so we called to be safe. The staff on the phone said last seating is 10pm. We get there at 10pm and they said the chefs already left for the day. We asked them why they told us last seating was 10pm and they said we have to come before 10pm. That does not make sense because I'm sure the chefs left way before that. First off, as a Construction Manager I loved the interior of the restaurant and apparently it's built just like Korea's street food stalls. Like many Korean BBQ places, you might first get taken back by the prices and true - they are a bit high, but the ban chan (small dishes provided) makes it up for a bit. Kimchi, salad, scallion salad, marinated onion/radish/jalapeño, dotori mook, broccoli. They tasted really good and went well with the meat. Pork Jowl was my favorite. They cooked it really well. Tender, rich, not burnt at all but cooked well. I liked pork neck too, but it was little dry than the time i had it before. Maybe this part was just little dry. We have been interest in trying this place ever since took over the old McDonald's but wanted to have a reason to since the menu is on the pricey side. Well we have out of town guests and this gave us a reason to go. We made a reservation so there was no wait. The place was a full house as expected. I will give a rating for different parts of our experience. First, seating. We were a party of 10 and were seated at one of the double tables setting. Because this is a BBQ place, the tables are fitted with table BBQ plates with exhaust fans. With the banchan and plates, spoons, chopsticks, and drinks; there's not much room left for a party of four per table let alone squeezing in 2 more settings. There was no room to move and we felt like sardines in a tight can. So the overall comfort and eating experience suffered and was uncomfortable. So I would give this a 2 rating- . Second, food. We ordered several platters of meat, Korean style pancakes, rice cakes, stir fried glass noodles, assorted mushrooms and an eel bibimbap. Everything was fine except the hot stone bibimbap. It took the longest to come out (last dish). The eel tasted fine however the rice appeared undercooked so it was very mushy. Only the parts that touched the hot stone pot was cooked and had a light crunch but the rest of the rice was borderline congee quality not fully cooked rice. The dish probably needed a few more minutes of cooking time before being served. So the bibimbap gets a 2 rating and everything else gets a 3.5-4 stars. Last, service. It deserves and gets 4 stars. Servers were very friendly, efficient and responsive. Overall the total experience gets 3 stars. I would go to other places that can accommodate a large party if you have a large group eating together. This place won't be able to accommodate you due to its setup. read more

This is my second time here and the experience gets better every trip. The staff were great and very friendly. For meats we had the prime kalbi, marinated prime kalbi and beef belly along with a beef rib soup. My daughter loved the soup and wouldn't eat anything else. You are probably wondering why I got 2 kalbis right? I wanted to see which one was better. I normally prefer the marinated one over the plain one but the plain one was 10x better. It was a lot more tender and meat itself was enough flavor. I think the marinate caramelized while cooking giving it a rougher texture but overall was still good and better than most places I have been to. The beef belly is a must if you go. It came out thinly sliced and looked very similar to bacon. The staff does all the cooking while you get to sit and enjoy the food. There is a parking lot out front which is very helpful but it is almost always full--may need to circle around a bit. Admittedly, most of my good times at Jongro have been at their Manhattan location (#1) but this Flushing location is definitely no slouch. Unlike the one in the city, this is a standalone building complete with a parking lot and what seems to be more space. More importantly during this time of COVID, they have extensive outdoor seating, which is not the easiest find in a place like Flushing KTown. Once indoor dining resumes, I think a big sell is their ambiance and decor. Not many Korean restaurant have gone to the lengths that Jongro has to really make their interior be as inviting and as thematic they have. The individual booths and tables are crammed into what feels like a maze of other tables, complete with hilarious signage (e.g. "Ride till we die my friend") and quality ventilation for the smoke-filled meals. While I realize they field the same menu, I am not actually sure if the prices are all that different from Manhattan Jongro. It would make sense that the Queens location would have a $1 or more off various items, after all that's how a lot of other big name KBBQ joints operate. That's not to say any of this stuff is all that cheap per se, it's still Korean food at the end of the day. Speaking of the food, the BBQ game is solid. Ironically, I prefer their non-BBQ items here, such as the stews, appetizers and banchan. I feel their kimchi cheese fried rice, budae jigae, and something as regular as seafood pancake are quite good. If anything the BBQ serves as a secondary option for me, but when in doubt go for any of the premium beef combos. They're pricey, but quite ideal for the average meat lover.ffff I think service could speed things up a bit, but I always sense they're a tad understaffed here. Stopped by for some Korean BBQ with my friend, decent meat quality. Grill took a while to set up and the metal piece was accidentally dropped when they were switching (happened to the table next to us too, so watch out for that). Friendly staff but do expect to spend some time here and smell like BBQ when you leave. Wait time was 25 min for dinner time even though there were empty tables around.
