    Meat skewers
    Alexa L.

Located in the back of the food court where the bar use to be in Tangram, you'll find this place with a self serve area. You get seated and you walk up to find the various selections of meat. You take your selections and walk towards the end where you will find someone to count your items to put on your tab according to your table number. If you order any "specials" like ready to eat kitchen things, then you order via the iPad at your table. As a first time experience, it wasn't bad, meat was fresh and tasty with their various dipping powders. They also gifted a flower to moms on Mother's Day! Note: the bill can add up really fast!

definitely prefer this place to chubby skewers and its worth the experience if youve never been but probably not somewhere id go back. i thought they had a good selection of meat and flavors - favorites were black pepper beef and cumin lamb. the skewers are smaller but also cheaper so you can try a larger variety. its a fun place to go with a large group. there were small misfunctions like the skewer counter but theres a lot going on and they seemed short of staff.

Very lively and modern Chinese aesthetic. I loved the claw machine if you win for every 10 skewers you complete and put into the table. The service was friendly a little slow but I will attribute to how big the area is and multiple guest needing the servers. I love the selections of skewers you get to choose in the open refrigerator. The amount of meat was good for each skewers and the cuts was perfect. I enjoyed you had to do some of your own cooking so that was very fun. The cooked dish from the kitchen was the pan fried noodles, Eggplants, Enoki Mushrooms and the Scallops. The skewers after cooking were very tender and flavorful. I especially loved the Pig Intestine as it was very crispy after cooking. Definitely a fun place to bring friends and family to hang out.

It was a fun concept and I've been wanting to try a skewer spot with the rotating grill ever since the other one in Flushing closed a couple of years ago. We arrived right around when they opened for lunch and had to wait a bit for a table. No one told us what to do but I knew that we had to bring the bracelet with us while picking out skewers. They had a wide selection of ingredients available (vegetables, beef, pork, lamb, chicken etc) and I picked out some lamb, cumin lamb and beef tongue skewers. I don't know how the staff could tell the difference as the skewers all looked similar but they scanned the bracelet and I brought the skewers back to my table. They also had a fridge full of cold foods and oysters. At first the skewers on our grill weren't moving at all and it wasn't hot at all. After looking at the other tables, it turned out that our grill and smoke exhaust weren't even on so we had to flag down someone to help us. The chopstick/wet wipe kit on each seat was pretty useful. Tissues were hung above the grill. The skewers took a while to cook as our grill wasn't heated up yet. The cumin lamb skewer tasted the best to me. I think it would be helpful if they had a guide for how long to cook each type of skewer at the table. The smoke exhaust was right above the grill and blocking the light so the table also had a little lamp on the side to shine onto the meats to see if they were cooked or not. Check was paid at the table. There looked like to be an outdoor smoking area so if you're dining in, I'd recommend asking for a table away from the patio. Overall it was a fun concept to try but I won't be going back as you can get a lot more food from other skewer spots in flushing for the same amount of money. It's probably a more fun spot at night time then during lunch hours.

This was something fun to do as we arrive to flushing. I think the experience would have been better if the waiter allowed us to go to the bar and pick out our skewers instead of looking at the menu. The visual of the skewers would have allowed me to try more options inside of picking things I read on the menu. Place is clean and wasn't busy when we went. I would try another skewer bbq place so I can compare.

A good late night place to go. They close at 3 AM. The servers were friendly and walked us through the process. The food took a little bit to grill so definitely not a place to go if you're starving or looking for a quick bite.

A new Chinese skewer spot just opened up in Tangram Mall, and it's already drawing big crowds so expect a wait. I waited almost an hour for a table of two, but once seated, the experience was fun and lively. They offer a skewer buffet where you can choose from a wide variety of options, from different meats and seafood to veggies, plus several appetizers to start. There's also a full bar, which is a nice touch if you're waiting or enjoying the meal. The different kinds of skewers are very flavorful and fresh! One of the fun highlights is at the end of your meal you put all your used skewers into a machine to redeem a prize, which adds a playful element to the experience. My only complaint is the environment inside. There are no windows, and with the grills constantly on, it gets very hot and humid, which can be uncomfortable while dining. Overall, it's a great spot for skewer lovers and worth checking out if you don't mind the wait and the heat.

    Lily L.

What an interesting concept to have in Tangram. I have been meaning to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint! They staff started off with taking out order nd then after, we were given a bracelet. We were able to go up and pick up extra skewers as well as sizes and just tap the bracelet to add these items to our bill! The only thing is some food items such as the Fried Noodles, Naengmeyon and the Bibimbap have to be ordered with a server. Starting off, the Bibimbap was very basic, I do not think I will be ordering it again. However, the Naengmeyon and the Fried Noodles were absolutely delicious! We ordered another bowl of each to the table once we started getting in the groove of eating. The skewers were also great and the server notified us on how long it takes to cook them in the beginning of the meal so you have to pay attention! Definitely had a great time with my friends and it was nice that they had dishes other than the skewers so that we were able to start eating while they were cooking. My only complaint was that we were seated near the front and they had this changing screen that made a very loud and not enjoyable sound.

Tried @gainblaze for the first time - our initial attempt was nearly 4 hours! Pro tip: Add your name to the waitlist, and they'll text you when your table's ready. You can even track how many parties are ahead, but you've got about 10 minutes to check in or lose your spot. We went on a Tuesday evening, and the place was surprisingly chill at first (almost empty!), though it filled up later--makes sense since it's a late-night vibe with alcohol on the menu. The concept is super fun and interactive: You get a bracelet with a QR code. Head to the skewer station and grab as many (or as few) as you want--one to sample, or load up! The best part? Try a single skewer to test flavors before committing to more. (Just remember which is which--it's on you! ) At the end of the line, the cashier scans your bracelet and inputs each item. The tablet's mostly in Chinese, and prices vary by skewer, so they double-check closely (we saw them squinting to distinguish beef from lamb ). . Then, grill everything right at your table! Timing can be tricky--we're not taking chances with raw chicken. Staff are helpful and will flag if something's done, but when it's busy, burnt skewers are on you. Seasoning packets on the table add great flavor, though the "melted cheese" side came as one big glob that didn't quite melt. Every 10 skewers earns a prize spin. We racked up 20... and won absolutely nothing. 0/2 . Live music was playing, which elevated the whole vibe--always a win! Overall, we loved the experience! The food was tasty, the self-paced portion control is perfect, and it's a fun, unique spot in Flushing's food scene.

Tried this place out!! Not worth it!! Everything will add up & prices are pretty hefty for single dishes!! You basically cook your own skewers & with every metal stick in the end, you put them in a slot machine & with every 10 sticks you could win a prize! Service was pretty bad, had someone take us to the table, sit us down, asked if it was our first time, left & never saw him again!! Had to chase down a waiter for the bill & to pay him!! SMH!! Ambiance was cute! Grill gets super hot in front of you as well!!

Come with a group of people so you can try a bit of everything. Roughly $2-$4 per skewer. Note: Each table accommodates 4 max, so if you have a large group, they can put you at two tables right next to each other. How it works: - You are given a wristband (1 wristband per table) with a QR code. Bring this with you when you get the skewers. They will scan the QR code and charge everything to your table. All skewers are labeled and are neatly displayed at the front. - The seasoned meats were pretty good. Definitely give the quail eggs and chicken skin a try! The only issue we had was that we never received one order that we placed at the table. There was a QR code sticker next to the grill and we were told that we could also order via phone by scanning the QR code. In the end, we never got the dish despite asking 3 different staff members about it multiple times. I also had to ask for it to be taken off our bill twice. Not sure if this was a communication issue, but we felt like they just brushed us off whenever we asked about the dish. Additionally, we were not able to get our skewers counted at the table. You are supposed to be able to toss the metal skewers down into the hole at your table and have the computer count out your skewers (10 skewers = 1 chance to win a prize). However, the machine wasn't working & seems to have not been working for a while (staff indicated that it most likely does not work prior to testing it out for us). We had to bring all the skewers to the prize counter in the back. We had over 70 skewers and did not win anything. There were other guests at the prize counter as well so it looks like a lot of the table counters aren't working, which is surprising given that this is a relatively new establishment. Btw, they did not explain how to order, the QR wristband, prizes, unlimited cheese, etc. to our friend that arrived prior to the rest of the group. I only know about how it all works from reading the reviews and from going to similar restaurants. No explanation was given regarding the grills and only when they saw me fiddling with the power button did they come over to turn on the grill. Overall, 3.5. Food was decent & prices are okay. Service could be a little better.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for the longest time. They finally officially opened, no longer having soft opening hours. The experience was not quite what it lived up to be but the food was good. Here's my experience. We came as a party of 9. First we put our name and number down for the waitlist. It took a little over an hour for us to be called. With the larger group, we take up 2 stations #17 and #18. They only gave us one bracelet marked #17. With the bracelet - you can grab skewers from the front and place them in a tray. The prices per skewer ranged from $1.29 all the way up to $5. The beef, lamb, chicken were all around that $1.99 price. We made multiple trips to get more skewers. We tried the chicken heart, chicken gizzards, chicken skin, chicken tendon, fish ball, fish tofu, beef ribs, lamb, cumin lamb, and orleans chicken. On the table there are spice packets, chopsticks, gloves, and floss picks. The are rotating racks for the skewers that holds up to 13 skewers and a flat laying grill on the side that you can manually flip on your own. There's also a QR code on the side that allows you to order side dishes or drinks. The gimmick or the draw of the restaurant is that you get to spin a virtual wheel for every 10 skewers you drop into the disposal chute located on your table. This chute wasn't registering any of the skewer sticks we dropped in. The waiter told us that it's due to the heat of the grills, and it affects the sensors. We can bring the skewers to the back station after our meal to try our luck. This ended up being a manual process where our kids were feeding the 90+ skewers into the machine. All of our spins resulted in no prize as I suspected. The beers we got were about $6 per bottle and we had ordered 8. That's about $50 on beer. Our total came out to $300 with tip. They almost added a random table to our bill because the waiter was not familiar with how the tables are set up. He kept trying to add #16 table to my bill, and I corrected him multiple times saying that's not mine. Overall take 1. Food is good - but waiting for them to cook could be bad if you're coming in hungry 2. Staff was nice - However I feel they are tired. One of the guys working there said he had 4 hours of sleep because they close at 4am. poor guy 3. The skewer chute system needs to be fixed - This place just opened for a week and it's already down. I know a lot of people are coming just for this experience 4. Prices are quite high - especially for beers. Skewers can be found outside on the street for roughly the same price but now you have to pay tax and tip on top of each one. 5. The wait was very long, if we didn't already have plans in Tangram we would've had to find something to do for over an hour 3.5 stars in my opinion and there are other skewer spots that won't hit your pockets as hard.

The skewers weren't bad, but they also weren't anything mind-blowing, especially for the price and portion size. The bigger issue for me was the service. It was really hot inside, we weren't offered ice head patches, and we had to wave down staff multiple times to refill out water. It honestly felt like our table was invisible at one point. Seating was also a bit cramped by where we sat. There was also a lottery game where you trade in 10 skewer sticks for a chance to win a prize, which lowkey felt like a scam. We submitted around 40-50 sticks and each time got "谢谢惠顾 / Thanks" .__. which isn't a prize. I'm glad I gave this restaurant a try, the concept is fun, but I wouldn't not come back. There are tastier more affordable skewer spots in NYC with better service.

So, my boyfriend and I decided to check out the ice rice from this place as well as a couple of other items. Firstly, I got deep fried rice cake skewers. They were just okay because I was expecting some kind of crunch after seeing deep fried. However, there was no crunch at all and it was a little lacking in flavor. I did enjoy it though because it still had a very chewy texture which was what I was looking for. The chicken skewers I liked a lot better. The chicken was tender and although also more lightly seasoned than places, I really enjoyed it! My boyfriend wanted to try the Udon Noodles from the menu as well which I was pleasantly surprised with. The udon noodles were perfectly bouncy and did not feel too oily. And for the star of the show, we got the Milk Tea Chilled Ice. It came with a lot of toppings on the rice varying from taro mochi to herbal jelly and watermelons which were all delicious. The milk tea base is a light Earl Grey Milk Tea and being someone who struggles with black tea sometimes, this black tea was really good! It was nicely floral from the earl grey but not bitter at all! I will definitely be back again to try out a couple more items since they do close pretty late as well. They have a huge fine in area so I will probably try dining in.

I watch the end of the game in here. Inside looks nice, booth is comfortable. Lively decoration with a spinning floating lightbulb in each table. The air is a bit stuffy though. I only ordered a burger as I heard from other reviewers that it is the best burger. It is quite tasty. Burger is on the smaller side, size of my palm. For $22, it also came with French fries.
