My favorite meat options were the brisket and galbi. The side dishes also stood out, particularly the beef radish soup, chicken wings, and corn cheese. They even have a special roll (which is the first time I've seen this at a KBBQ spot - it's pretty filling tho so make sure to share). I'm not usually a fan of AYCE places because of the difference in meat quality, but I decided to stop by and check this place out since it's new and we happened to be in the neighborhood. We walked in around 7 p.m. without a reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant is very spacious inside, and our waitress was super friendly, although we did feel a bit rushed. You can only order three meat items at a time. For our first round, we ordered the beef brisket, galbi, and bulgogi. There's also a wider variety of side dishes compared to other AYCE Korean BBQ spots. The portion of the beef brisket was unusually large that I was almost full just from eating the brisket alone. The galbi was well-marinated, and the bulgogi was flavorful as well but was a bit too oily for me. One thing I didn't like was that they set the cooked meat aside on the rim of the grill while the raw meat continued cooking in the center. The juices from the raw meat would drip onto the cooked meat, which wasn't very appealing. read more

Not just another AYCE KBBQ in Bayside. Blacksmith finally opened after a long renovation and us passing by lots of times with eager anticipation. There is a parking lot at the back entrance to the restaurant on 209th St for about 18 cars that are shared with the other businesses. If you have a large group, they have a couple of round tables up front that can be converted to a long table with a drop-in insert that can accommodate 12-14 people with grills at both ends, so the guys in the middle won't have easy access to the grills, but will have plenty of table space. Just be aware that there are a lot of rules. There's a 2 hr limit on AYCE and a 30% charge per 1/2 hr, if you over stay the time limit, a 3% surcharge for using credit card and a 20% automatic gratuity added for parties of 6 or more. Now that the formalities are dealt with, it's onto the MEATZ! They have thin sliced beef brisket, which is quite fatty, but most of the rendered fat flows off into trough. Other beef cuts that I liked were the hanging tender steak and bulgogi, which was marinated well. The Galbi was sliced boneless and I prefer the LA version that are sliced thin across the bone where I can chew of the tendons. The pork jowl was pretty good, as was pork short rib. They even have Italian sausage, which we tried but it was so-so. We also tried the buttered squid rings. Just don't cook them too long or they turn real rubbery. The side items seem like an afterthought. The japchae was really plain, but the steamed egg was pretty good. If you get the mandoo dumplings, get extra orders because they only come 2 per plate. Order extra fried squid tentacles also because they are tasty, but the plate is small. The vegetables to grill are pretty skimpy also and I don't know why since they are less expensive than the meats. My cheesy corn also came out cold since they forgot to put it on the stove and the cheese was not melted. The staff come pretty often to place more food on the dome and to turn or cut up the meat, but I really like to do it myself. We had passed the freezer case when we were brought to our table, so I knew that at the end of the meal, we were getting ice cream! You have a choice of Hersey's vanilla or chocolate in a cup. Came here for AYCE for Father's Day celebration. The space is huge and definitely a great space for large parties. Decent street parking outside if you come early enough. The meat options were pretty generous sizing. You can order 3 meats at a time. Just FYI: there's no lunch prices for weekends and holidays. The sides were ok. I think my sister in law said that the Japchae tasted a bit weird. Children prices are based on height. Six of us went on a Sunday night for dinner around 6pm. Didn't have a reservation but we managed to squeeze in before the rush. Food was great, the meat was top quality and abundant. Everything was delicious and especially liked the kalbi and bulgogi. Service was pretty good, our waitress was very busy and sometimes missed certain items or completely forgot so we would have to remind her. But she was swamped so it was no big deal. The only real downside was how hot it got in there. We were all sweating at the table, maybe the fan stopped working but it was boiling for us. I just found my new favorite all you can eat Korean bbq spot. Located right off northern blvd in the bayside area the restaurant is spacious and welcoming. The quality of meats is top level they have a numerous selection to choose from but not only that they have an extensive list of sides dishes to choose from as well. Great customer service and the meal was ended with desert. We really enjoyed the thin brisket, galbi and marinated pork rib. It was a new KBBQ spot, aside from them giving away our table and us having to wait 1.5hrs despite having a reservation, the food was 4 stars. Blacksmith KBBQ delivers a solid experience overall. The meats were fresh and well-marinated; signature galbi, brisket were standouts. Their selection of kitchen apps were good as well, fish roe rice paired well with the food, steamed eggs were solid, fried squid legs . Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the banchan selection was rather sparse tho. We had such a great time at Blacksmith Korean BBQ! The space is very spacious and perfect for groups. There were 8 of us and the service was incredibly attentive from start to finish Since it's all you can eat everything kept coming without us having to wait. They constantly refilled our sauces, brought more ssam-mu and kept the sides like corn cheese and the egg soufflé coming. It honestly felt like we never had to ask for anything they were always making sure our table was good. The meats were amazing. We tried the thinly sliced brisket, flat iron steak, bulgogi, and thick pork belly, and everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The staff even helps cook the meat for you.We also ordered the SoMaek tower (beer + soju) which was such a fun addition to the table. For drinks, I had the pineapple soju and strawberry soju cocktails, and they were so good! It was actually my first time trying them and I loved them.We also tried the spicy chicken and Cajun shrimp, and both were a 10/10. Honestly, the food just kept coming and everything tasted great. The meat choices were average, but you can only order 3 items at a time and they will not allow you to order anything else until you've eaten all you already have ordered. This makes no sense for an AYCE, that will charge you for uneaten food items. Even if you have 1 of the 3 items left, they didn't allow us to order more. The flavors were average. Even then banchan was not refilled unless you made a point of attracting their attention to your table. Their AYCE status, did not work for us. We went today with our family of six. The decor is great, the food is okay but the service is horrendous. There were only 4 other tables dining when we went today but despite them not being busy we had to ask for every little thing: water, sauces, napkins etc. And when we finally do flag the workers down, they gave us such attitude like we were bothering them and half of the time they forgot to bring what we asked. I ate my entire meal without napkins because they just couldn't be bothered. Maybe it was because my parents have heavy Chinese accents so they were mean to us because we weren't Korean? I have to say I was very disappointed by this spot. I heard from others that this is a really great ayce bbq place and I was excited for a new one to be in the neighborhood. I was surprised by the large selection of items on the menu. They have a lot of unique items like pork feet and intestines, as well as a fan favorite - galbi. But when we received it, it looked and tasted nothing like the usual galbi that I've eaten before. It was much chewier and tougher, which was extremely disappointing. We also were really confused because we had ordered hanger steak, as well as garlic steak cubes, and all of those cuts of meat looked and tasted the same. There were a few standouts, though - the Bulgogi and spicy pork belly were so good and the marinade was on point. Service was quite slow and we had to order some items multiple times. I did really enjoy a lot of the sides that they included like the steamed egg, japchae and spicy rice cakes. The space itself is really large and can fit a lot of people which is cool for big groups. I think they definitely have quite a bit to work on before I'd want to return though. read more

Four of us went for dinner on Sunday around 7. I understand it's a busy time but, it was extremely bad service. For two of our foreign friends trying k-bbq for the first time! We had to order the veggies three times just to get it to our table. We waited 15mins each time understanding they were busy. By the time they came we finished our meats. So we order our third meat order waiting another 20mins so we got fed up and spoke to the manager. Nothing was done. When my wife mentioned we still didn't get our meats he asked what we ordered, meaning our order didn't even go through. We lost our appetite so paid and left. Worst experience for us. Service was friendly although you had to flag them down a few times when they weren't at full capacity as they are ironing service out as a newly opened restaurant. Our waiter was kind and apologized for certain dishes we ordered not making its way to the table... overall the meal was not bad, the pork jowl being a better cut than the beef in our opinion. Depending on the time of your reservation, we were directed to park in the small lot behind (when the bank was closed). Food quality was good, and I liked the variety of cuts and sides offered. Their fried food was great, and can definitely be a trap to take away from the main point, the barbeque. But the service is honestly quite bad. They do grill the meat for you, something I haven't seen from other ayce kbbq places in Long Island, Queens, and Manhattan, and they get some points for automatically bringing my siblings chopsticks after they dropped theirs. But an hour into service, they stopped attending to our table for about 15-20 minutes. If there wasn't a time limit I wouldn't mind taking a break. I had to flag someone down to get an order in. Servers and bussers were walking around our table, and we felt neglected. We were in the middle of the dining room, the big table you'd see after entering the restaurant, so it wasn't that we were in a distant corner. It felt deliberate. We were a table of 7, so there was an auto gratuity of 20%. It could be that they didn't want to put in the extra effort. We had 7 different types of meat and none disappointed. Dare I even say the quality of meat beats out KBBQ places that charge a-la-carte. Waiters/waitresses were so attentive, kept coming back to refill on meats/sides. I've never been encouraged to order more meats at an AYCE spot. Don't worry, there's more. A brand new AYCE Korean BBQ restaurant just opened in Bayside and I'm so impressed. The interior was beautifully designed and it feels luxurious with spacious seating. The most impressive thing was the quality of the delicious meat. I'm talking top-tier meat usually found in restaurants in Korea. I thought it was going to be expensive, but I was happy to find the menu affordable and the service top-notch. The servers were friendly, kind, and very attentive to my requests. There were so many side dishes and it was great to have such a variety of tasty choices. I am definitely going back and inviting my friends - it's a great place to hang out!
