This place was a little farther than I usually go to eat but it was sooo goood!! My friends and I ate so much and everything was so delicious! They are known for their raw crab which I wish I could eat but I can't right now (I will be back to try as soon as possible!) but they did bring o a little bit with the Banchan any my friend thought it was great! The cold noodles were delicious as well, the texture of the noodles as well as the flavor! We got a regular one and a spicy one for the travel and both were great but I think I prefer the spicy one. The barbecue was great as well and the servers helped grill a portion longer for me once we asked them to with no issue! The store was pretty spacious and it was great that there was a parking lot because it was super cold and we didn't want to have to walk back to the car after a hot meal. I would say this is a very solid restaurant overall. While the Korean BBQ was decent, my favorite thing so far is definitely the Black Goat Soup from last night. I would definitely go back for that again. My second favorite thing might be their Soy Sauce Marinated Raw Blue Crabs. The Galbijim was super tender, but the sauce/soup was way too sweet. The owner is a super friendly old lady from Seoul, who has been in the US for 60 years. She chatted with us and mentioned how much she loves the US and NYC. As for the servers, we were in an isolated room and sometimes it did feel like they forgot about us. When they do come by, they were nice. The restaurant does get some other local clientele, but it's mostly filled by Koreans. That's always a good sign. I am drooling just thinking about the delicious soy marinated crabs and kalbi from this restaurant. This is a wonderful spot for Korean barbecue and their other dishes are just as incredible. I was able to share many items with my party and never stopped eating. My top bites had to be the crab, kalbi and their cold noodles. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Especially that crab. If Korean BBQ is on your mind and you're anywhere near Queens, Sung Book Dong should be top of mind. Our family ordered servings of both the marinated and plain short ribs and I was shocked by how tender and flavorful these meats were. The server comes by to cook, flip, and cut the meats on a tabletop grill so that all you need to do is to have your chopsticks and appetite ready. Best of all, they use a gas grill AND a low-hanging vent over the tabletop grill. I know there are folks out there who'll argue the merits of cooking over charcoal briquets (which some other restaurants do), but there's nothing worse than having dinner and then smelling it on your clothes for days to come. Ordering any of the BBQ meats not only means you get to watch the best meat-based tabletop cooking show; it also means the rest of your table space will be littered with all kinds of banchan, or free side dishes. You'll see all the standards like a dressed salad, kimchi, and sesame-seasoned spinach, but there's all kinds of other special ones here - kabocha squash salad, a savory Korean egg soufflé, and raw marinated crab. We also tried the seafood pancake, which was outstanding. Crispy, full of seafood, and sizable enough to share as a party of four, this was a lovely accompaniment to all the meat. If there are downsides, it's with the little things. While the interior of the restaurant is pretty large, the tables are fit in close together so get ready to eavesdrop on lots of conversations at neighboring tables (and vice versa). This restaurant is a hotspot for Korean BBQ and it shares space with a few other businesses in the complex, so what little parking is available in the lot goes fast. OMG they had the most tender meat I've ever had at a Korean bbq place. The bulgogi and short ribs (their special marinade not LA galbi) almost melts in your mouth and wasn't too sweet. The banchan that came out was more on the simple side. Good but nothing to brag about. The cold noodles broth was like a slushie with great flavor and acidity. They do bring out extra vinegar and hot mustard on the side so if you like your cold noodles extra vinegary or want a slight kick, go for it! Super refreshing and perfect for the warm weather we've been having. Good service. Server took the time to explain/answer all the questions I had. This is not AYCE but they do have different meats as a la carte or have meat combo options. I didn't get to take a picture of all the menu pages but I included the lunch and meat combo menu. It's a restaurant tucked away in a small plaza in Little Neck. Food wise, this place is as authentic and bomb as it gets. The banchan is homemade, unique and super tasty. They have white kimchi, which is a 10/10 in taste and texture. They also give soy sauce marinated raw crabs, anchovies with peppers, and this egg omelette. I got the bulgogi dolsot bibimbap. It was a huge portion size and the flavor was spot on. The accompanying vegetables in the bibimbap were sooo good. Have also had their spicy soondubu, and the flavor was rich and deep. At the end of the meal they also give a small cup of homemade sikhye, which is super refreshing. Highly recommend this place. We used to come here often with family, so when my relatives visited from Korea after a long time, we thought Seongbuk-dong would be the perfect place for dinner. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but pleasant. Our group had 4 adults and 2 kids. After ordering 4 portions of meat, we wanted to add some other dishes. That's when the waitress quietly told us we had to order at least 5 portions of meat. This made no sense to us, so we asked the owner directly. Instead of giving us a proper explanation, he just insisted on his own rules and even yelled at us to leave if we didn't like it. With family visiting from abroad, this was extremely embarrassing and frustrating. We ended up walking out because we couldn't bear staying any longer. The service here was unbelievably rude, and the owner's attitude was completely unprofessional. I came here for dinner last night with a party of 4 adults and 2 children. We placed an order for 3 meat combinations and one pancake, but the waitress immediately seemed upset and began pressuring us to order more meat. So we added a beef bibimbop. She forthright told us to add more raw meat. When we politely declined, she insisted again, claiming we didn't meet the minimum--despite there being no signage or mention of a minimum order policy. She then loudly called out to her manager from across the restaurant, which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the service only went downhill from there. We were largely ignored for the rest of the evening and had to flag staff down multiple times just to get basic requests fulfilled. At one point, we noticed we didn't receive the raw crab banchan that other tables were getting. When we asked the waiter, he looked around our table, appeared to mentally tally our order, gave a slight shake of his head, and walked away without saying anything. About ten minutes later, he silently dropped the dish at our table without a word. Overall, we all left disappointed--not because of the food, but because of the poor service and how we were treated. I noticed unless you speak Korean, expect a subpar experience. I wish we read Google reviews before coming here as this is a repeat offense apparently. This restaurant clearly has few competitors in the area, which might explain their arrogance. Got the marinated beef (galbi) and it was fatty and mid at best. The rice smelt like it was in the rice cooker for days and tasted awful. The side dishes were terrible and a quarter of it seemed spoiled. The peppers looked spoiled the lettuce was old and flimsy. Didn't even get the steamed eggs that every bbq spot gives, and they blamed it on "it's late, sorry". Expensive and not worth it, there are dozens of way better spots, DO NOT waste your time with this placed, sucha disappointment. With all the Korean BBQ places in Queens I finally ended up at Sung Book Dong. To say I love Korean barbecue would be an understatement. The restaurant is large with each table having its own hanging vacuum for the smoke from the barbecue to go into. The portions of the food are quite nice so we ordered a set of steak barbecue and a fish soup. The staff was quick to get our order and start cooking it for us. Really enjoyed the loud atmosphere, reminds me of Ktown... a little old school, meat quality was just ok, nothing spectacular that would require a 2nd visit. Service is insanely fast! They want to turnover the tables mad quick. We were a party of 12... so we took up precious commodity... we ordered, got food right away and finished within an hour and 15 mins. The Ahjummas kept the food moving! The bus boys removed plates quick and we ate fast. Our local kbbq spot. We come here for lunch often. They are very generous with many ban chan side dishes- even marinated soy crab though you might have to ask for it. I generally go for the kimchi pork sundubu or one of the spicy stir fry's. Galbi can be hit or miss. We came here for BBQ one night too and enjoyed it. They are a touch on the pricier side for what you get. Very busy on a Saturday night and it wasn't even 6pm. The staff was very quick to clean and set up our table for six. We ordered three meats to be cooked at the table on the grill. The Bugolgi, chicken and pork belly were the best sharing choices. We also ordered: - Rice cakes with beef broth soup (not spicy), comes with egg, beef slices and delicious rice cakes. - Japchae - these cellophane noodles were delicious, kind of sweet yet peppery. Lots of veggies and mushrooms too. - Large steamed egg, what a delicious souffle! - Mandu Gu - fried dumplings were crisp and very tasty. I liked the filling, it was a good mix of beef and greens. - chicken Bibimbap - tender chicken slices and veggies served in a hot plate with rice. - Seafood pancake - so good when it's fresh and hot, served also on a hot plate. It was a little light on the filling but the searing was spot on. The ban chan was generous and had a good variety. They offered the soy marinated crab, apple and potato salad, seaweed, kimchi, cold steamed egg, cabbage, lettuce salad, pickled cucumbers, and burdock. Best was the tofu stew. This was the perfect dinner on a cold Winter evening. The wait staff was attentive while cooking at the table and they brought out our food quite quickly. I wish we had a second to breathe! The food here is excellent! The spicy squid entree had so much flavor and the spice level was good. The short rib was marinated well and cooked to perfection. We also had the scallion pancake and the dumplings. I preferred the dumplings over the pancake but both were tasty. The service was fast and friendly, we got our food in minutes. The ambiance of this restaurant is more so mom and pop authentic food. No extra frills and loud music. It's a nice spot to go to actually sit and be able to talk to your group. Probably more a 4.5 since I really enjoyed my experience. My party of 3 arrived around 5pm on a Sunday and it was already popping and it stayed very busy throughout our meal. Everything we ordered (standard stuff: soondubu, budae jjigae, marinated galbi and pork, seafood pancake) was tasty and I really like 1. that they cook your meat for you and 2. every table has a vent so the entire restaurant isn't smoky and your clothes won't smell like BBQ. This isn't a fancy restaurant but it really elevated the experience. Strongly recommend even for large groups as I saw a few families with ~8-10 people too. Keep in mind that there isn't a lot of parking available in the designated lot so you likely may need to park on the street nearby. We visited this restaurant on Father's Day with a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 children). After waiting over 40 minutes to be seated, we placed a reasonable order for our group: one seafood hot pot, two combo meals, and a seafood pancake. However, to our surprise, the server told us they would not start preparing our food because we "didn't meet the minimum order" for an 8-person table. There were no visible signs, notices, or information on the menu about any minimum spending requirement for seating -- and we were never informed of this before or during the ordering process. we offered to order more food if needed -- but the staff refused to start preparing anything at all unless we first committed to ordering more. This left us confused, frustrated, and disappointed, especially with hungry kids waiting after a long wait. If there is a policy like this, it should be clearly stated and communicated upfront -- not enforced arbitrarily after this long wait. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and we hope the management takes this feedback seriously to improve communication and transparency with future customers read more

Came to Sung Book Dong several times and definitely one of our favorite korean BBQ places on Long Island! There is a parking lot right outside of the restaurant so parking is really convenient. We never really make reservations and usually get seated immediately. The restaurant is spacious and our servers are usually very efficient! The quality of the meal is amazing, always very fresh. We usually get the kalbi and pork belly and would recommend both! What I loved about this place is that they had marinated crabs as part of the side dishes; at some point I think they took that away but still had a lot of great side dishes! What a fantastic kbbq restaurant that's off the beaten path. If you're in the area or just want to find a really good kbbq restaurant out of the sea of kbbq restaurants that drown in Flushing/Bayside...come to Sung Book Dong. There's plenty of parking (street parking) and the food and service is fantabulous. Came on a Friday night at around 6pm and still had to wait 30 min for a table and it was worth it. The waiting area is tiny (can you even call it a waiting area?) but you can wait outside. The host/boss lady would just call out your name when your table is ready so be sure you're within earshot. You snooze, you lose. We had their marinated raw crab (and yes, it's probably the best I've had in Queens), their cold noodle (server told us to add mustard and a dash of vinegar...uh-mazing), and their marinated short rib. There was so much food for just 3 dishes, our bellies were stuffed half-way but it would be sinful to take it to go...so we powered through.
