I visited NY Pho House with my cousins and had a great experience. This cozy spot on Francis Lewis Boulevard in Queens served us fresh, flavorful meals with friendly service. We started with two appetizers, the calamari and dumplings, which were both delicious. My cousins ordered Pho, while I had the curry chicken, and everything was served promptly and tasted excellent. The menu isn't very extensive, but their signature dishes are well done. There are only a few tables available, and street meter parking is located outside. Take out was bustling. The owner provided outstanding customer servicr, attentive, welcoming, and happy to offer recommendations. Plug also for shared dessert we had, black tea and Vietnamese coffee. All good. Possibly my new pho place You're not coming here for a "vibe." It's a small place with around six tables and three staff members (two in the kitchen and one taking orders, serving, bussing, and cleaning). Not the most glamorous vision of a restaurant, right? But the food is tasty! We had the summer rolls, peppered calamari, the signature pho, and the beef short-rib pho. The summer rolls and calamari were good, you could taste the freshness of the veggies and shrimp. I wish the calamari had been a bit crispier and seasoned with a touch more salt and pepper, but it was still very good. The real reason I'll be coming back is the pho broth. Some people might describe it as slightly sweet, but to me, it had a rich, balanced flavor. It's small, it's undoubtedly a former Subway location just based on the layout. Signature pho is priced reasonably and comes with brisket and eye of round. I added meatballs to mine. Starters we tried the calamari, waffles fries and the lamb skewers. They are also halal and have items you don't typically find available. Calamari had a light coating, it was tender and the dipping sauce was similar to the one for spring rolls. Waffle fries were almost like a Sichuan-like dish, pretty good. Lamb skewers had a nice flavor, think Flushing cart skewers but without the spice. Pho broth was nice and hot, lots of cilantro and onions. I visited New York Pho House when they were promoting their $2 signature Pho one weekend. We arrived 30 mins before opening to beat the crowd and were glad to be part of the first seating. The staff was helpful and attentive in getting everyone's orders in. We ordered a Signature pho each as well as a summer roll to start and flan to end. The pho came out piping hot, just the way I like it. It was topped with cilantro, scallions, onions, brisket and eye round steak. I added bean sprouts, jalapeno, basil leaves, and lime juice to get the whole experience. The broth was seasoned extremely well and tasted great. I really enjoyed eating the noodles and pretty much drank all the broth. The summer rolls however, were a different story. For one, the menu mention that there would be 4 summer rolls, but we seem to have gotten only 2 that were cut in half. Also the wrapper was very sticky and didnt hold up very well. The stuffing was very simple, mostly lettuce and minimal carrots with some shrimp. The sauce was a bit watery and not very strong. This was a very disappointing appetizer. Lastly the flan was a good way to end the meal. It was very thick and creamy, but a bit heavy after all that broth. Not a big deal at all-- we spent it so easily, and the food was delicious. The soup was one highlight. A little spicier than what I'm used to, but still manageable even for me, and the soup was so flavorful. Even though it was spicy, I still felt like I wanted to eat more. They have noodle options for you-- thin, regular, wide, or extra wide. I opted for the wide just to see, but I don't think you can go wrong. All of their noodles are fresh and chewy. While it was definitely busy and there was a wait (~45 mins), there were many pairs / individual eaters who were seated quickly! I think they only have a few tables for bigger groups. Expect a bit of a wait during the promo period: I lined up at 5pm and it took around 40 minutes for us to be seated. But once we were inside we were able to order and get our dishes quickly. The beef noodle soup was really good, one of the best I've had in the city. The broth had a proper kick to it and the beef pieces were super tender and melt in your mouth. The amount of noodles was generous and they had the perfect amount of chew. The fact that it was $2 was the icing on the cake but I wouldn't hesitate to pay full price next time. We also got the sweet sticky pork ribs and the sichuan fried pork strips as our appetizers. They were alright but they have a pretty extensive appetizer menu that next time I'd go for something different. Came here yesterday for their soft opening. I honestly don't like pho but this place gives me a change of heart. The signature pho is perfectly flavored and tastes very hearty. I do think they should add more meat though since i had a good amount of noodles left. The chicken wings were sweet and savory. I loved it. If you don't like sweet, then I'd skip out on these. The crispy lamb chops were good but were a bit too fatty for my liking. The seasoning on it was great tho - somewhat like a masala seasoning on them. DH Noodles is a miniature chain of Lanzhou Beef Noodles which is originally in Flushing unless it's based on a chain in Lanzhou (or more likely DH i.e. Dunhang.) You can also find it under Dun Huang or Dunhuang on yelp but they all have that DH and some spots have noodles or Lanzhou noodles (it would be a lot easier if they all had the same naming convention but whatever.) This place replaced a bunch of other failed spots on this very popular food block from the fancier spot Wicked Jane to another fancier Moroccan spot Mekki to a popular Japanese place which probably lasted the longest called Cho Cho San. Anyway the past is the past and they decided to get things rolling by having a fun little TikTok promotion where if you spend $5, you can get their signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup/Lamian for $2. This could be gotten to stay which they had a pretty large line even at off times (and especially the first day) but you could also get it to go and they packaged everything nicely though I wish they asked which noodle style as I generally prefer wide for this type of broth but whatever they gave me worked. For my extra dish to satisfy the $5 extra, I decided to go with one of their Rou Jia Mo/肉夹馍 which was $6.50 and I went with the Cumin Lamb. It was alright as the meat definitely had enough cumin and spice but the bun didn't have the proper texture and there wasn't enough fat so it was a bit dry overall but it's more of a side and if you ordered it with the noodles, you can always make it a bit wetter by dipping it into said broth. The signature packaging was appreciated. The $2 Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles which are normally $13 came with slices of beef tendon, radish, and cilantro in prime beef broth with house special chili oil. Lanzhou style beef noodles tend to be on the lighter end compared to other beef broths so if you're looking for more of a flavor punch without needing the chili oil, I would suggest other styles/regions. The chili oil here had good heat and a good amount of fragrance. The beef in there was pretty tasty. It was fine. It's hard to complain because of the price point. If I was paying full price, this would have been $19.50 + tax and tip so around $25 or so which isn't cheap, but hey it's the West Village and it's not like the other Chinese noodle spot on the block isn't charging more for less now (I'm looking at you South of The Clouds.) I first heard of this place today on TikTok where the owner posted a $2 beef noodle soup dine-in promotion for this week so of course, I had to stop by after work for dinner. Hmmm this is a tricky one for me. I checked it out because the owner decided to put an instagram video stating 2 dollar bowls of pho for a weekend. He wanted to see if instagram and tik tok actually worked; well of course it does and apparently too well. He apparently at some point decided that just the first 100 bowls of pho would be 2 dollars with 5 dollar purchase and everything else was buy one get one. Strike 1. Then I try to call ahead and they didnt pick up after like 5 calls. Strike 2. Finally for some strange reason they eventually do pick up and turns out they won't even take my order on the phone. How does that make any sense?? Strike 3. Overall i'm sure a lot of people now know about this restaurant but at least for me it was a very disappointing overall experience. If youre going to throw out a promotion like that, you better know what youre doing and why in the world do you not take the order over the phone if youre going to bother to pick up my call. I did take out and unlike other restaurants they put the eye round in the hot soup so its going to be overcooked by the time you get home but their one saving grace is that their broth had a lot of flavor. It's medium sized and tables are nicely spaced out. 10/10 Ambiance Food was amazing. Their prices a fairly decent compared to the amazing quality of the food. The monstrous chicken 8.5/10. The place is relatively small, well decorated well lit, and the staff is very friendly. I had excellent mala Sichuan soup with beef and noodles and a cucumber salad to start.
