Really excited to try halal Indonesian food. I got coconut rice and fried/roasted chicken with some sides. There was a fish sauce but I didn't know what it went with. The chicken was good but I couldn't navigate the other sides on my own. If there was some guidance or note in DoorDash or the website that would have been nice. Especially if it included explanation of what flavors will come and if it's sweet or savory. Tamarind soup was a total no go for me though.

Apparently this place has been around for awhile. It's a small hole in the wall spot with limited seating. I can tell that a lot of regulars come here and they also have many take out orders. The price point is great as it's inexpensive. Even though it's not written anywhere, they told me that paying in cash is cheaper vs credit cards they tack on a 3% surcharge. Always bring cash with you. For food, I ordered the lamb satay only came with two skewers and it was priced like an entree and soto noodles. However, overall I felt like my meal was pretty good.

This place is great option if you are looking to try some authentic Indonesian food. The place is small with only a handful of small tables for seating. What is very helpful is that their website and menu have photos of the food with detailed descriptions for those who are unfamiliar with the cuisine. It's a family run place with kind staff members. They have all the traditional dishes here with a wide assortment of rice dishes, fried noodles, soups, appetizers and even some desserts to choose from. I'd recommend the nasi goreng (fried rice) with chicken or the beef rendang over rice if you are looking for some solid traditional choices.

Great Indo spot! Not many of these around. The calamari was a bit expensive for the portion size so I don't think we would get it again. The Batagor was worth it and I like that there is a variety of fish cakes and rice cakes in the platter. The lamb satay is delicious! Meat was tender and wasn't game-y at all (which I'm cautious about whenever I have lamb). The seafood fried rice and fried noodles are also favorites. They don't skimp! There is a decent amount of assorted seafood pieces in each dish. They don't play around with the spice! For all y'all spicy lovers, you may have met your match here. The restaurant can probably hold around 16 people. Very "locals spot" vibe--they all treat each other like family. It's not really a spot where you make a formal reservation, but I always like to call ahead and ask if they have the space for my family to come by.

Ate here today for dinner after work as a substitute paraprofessional at P.S. 7 Q with my coworker to let him try Indonesian food for the first time. We both ordered different kinds of fried rice to enjoy ourselves individually that it we had said that it tasted delicious. The service there was also friendly and pleasant. We couldn't agree more. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

Came in on a Sunday around 3:30pm. Despite it still being an off time, there were still a few people inside. I ordered the savoury fish cakes and the rendang over rice to share. The savoury fish cakes were my favorite. The fish was mixed with something glutinous before it was fried. The sauce was slightly sweet with a bit of acidity. The noodles on the bottom were a bit spicy. It was a very balanced appetizer. The rendang's flavor was really good, but it was very dry. It was hard to eat it without drinking water. The rice was fragrant despite it being normal rice. The portions are generous. Given the amount of people ordering takeout out, it's pretty solid Indonesian food.

I'd give 0 stars if possible. I've been looking forward to this all Ramadan. I ordered the Java steak for my brother who clearly said "No, I want the beef teriyaki." The server misunderstood & ordered both. We also got the yellow chicken soup & the lamb fried rice. It took 30mins for the food to come. The server mistakenly gave my brother Java steak & also tried to give us beef teriyaki afterwards but we said we didn't order it. The server left & came back & said we did order it. Not a big deal they misunderstood & mixed up the order so we said we'd take the beef teriyaki to go. I took several bites of my yellow chicken soup, I didn't even eat 1/6 of it. I found a hair in the soup. I kept trying to call the servers. I called at least 5 times & the male server finally came up to us. I told him I couldn't eat since there was hair in my soup & he said "ok" & went to the other server. The female server didn't even bother coming by. I just sat & waited for like 30mins. I called the male server again & he said he told the female server. I asked if she was ever going to come over. When she finally came over, she asked what the problem was. I said I can't eat since there's hair in my soup. She asked if I wanted a replacement to which I said no. She finally apologized but I was infuriated by then. She should've came over & apologized right away. The attitude of the servers seems like they're too busy to care. She didn't even offer to give us a refund for the hairy soup (we already paid). The least she could've done was apologized immediately, offer a refund, or an exchange. Once again, I'm severely disappointed by the customer service. I do not appreciate fasting all day to find hair in my food & horrible customer service. One of the main problems is they don't have enough servers which is why they don't care abt service. We asked for our food to go which took another 30 mins. Needless to say, I won't be coming back.

Food was delicious. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. They offered complimentary Jasmine tea which was awesome. I ordered the Java steak which was cooked to perfection. The only reason I gave them a 4 was due to the portion size. Otherwise I would recommend you check them out. Also, they are halal which is a plus.

Very authentic and affordable halal Indonesian food! Came here with my friends on a Saturday night for dinner - didn't need to make reservations. Plenty of options to choose from and everything was delicious.

    Beef teriyaki combo
    Anna L.

Very cozy restaurant with friendly service good food, and affordable prices. My friend had the soto mie while I had the beef teriyaki combo. Complimentary jasmine tea is provided. My friend enjoyed the soto mie which is a turmeric curry noodle soup. It comes with a couple of crispy spring rolls and a spicy hot sauce. I tried the soup, but I prefer the beef teriyaki even though it isn't Indonesian food. You can choose to have the beef teriyaki cooked medium or well done. It was delicious and sweet. The sauce mixed well with the rice and vegetables. It comes with three shumai and a chicken soup which was bland. The shumai isn't like the ones you find in dim sum. The filling is more like shrimp tofu. The deliciousness of the beef made up for the other food in the combo though. Edit: Came back two weeks later and I'm impressed that the waitress remembered us and what we had last time! I tried the yellow chicken soup which comes with rice and a large shrimp chip. Everything was delicious!

Pre-COVID: Small, warm, and cozy, eating a meal here feels like you're dining in someone's living room. Our waiter, who might also have been the owner, welcomed us like regulars even though it was our first time and was enthusiastic about explaining the menu and cooking methods. We started off with complimentary tea. My friend and I also ordered coconut juice (much sweeter and a little thicker than coconut water, with coconut chunks), and a Thai iced tea. Also on the menu were Japanese items like takoyaki. They have board with specials and we received detailed explanations as to what they were. We ordered the Gudeg Ayam Penyet: fried chicken (choice of dark or white meat), jackfruit, coconut milk, with a hard boiled egg, deep fried tofu, cucumber, and soy bean patty on the side. We also ordered the whole red snapper, deep fried then grilled, with deep fried then grilled tofu, and another soybean patty. Both came with rice. The chicken on the Gudeg was overcooked and dry, but the jackfruit was delicious. This was my first time having jackfruit and had I not known it was fruit I would have thought it was meat. There is a sweetness to it, but the texture and flavor were very similar to shortibs (it flakes the same when you pull at it with a fork), and it is cooked with a bit of cow. There was a also just a little heat. I would have gladly eaten an entire plate of this as an entree. The dish also came with a medium spiced (some would find it very spicy) red dipping sauce that tasted strongly of shrimp paste. The snapper was also overcooked, I'm not sure that it needed to be both deep fried and grilled. The the tofu that was prepared the same way was the best I've ever eaten. They marinate it in a tumuric sauce first (when you break it open you can see yellow). The inside is creamy and silky, while the frying and the grilling from the outside give it both a slight crunch and the smokiness from the grill. We ordered an extra side of this just to take home. The dipping sauces here also included the red shrimp paste based one, as well as a sweeter thin brown sauce I thought went well with the fish and soybean patty. We took the owners recommendation and mixed them together on the rice and this was definitely the right thing to do! The meal had 3 and 4 star aspects to it but I rounded up because of the phenomenal service and because when something was done well, it was done really well, and makes me want to come back to try more!

The coconut rice, spicy sambal, spiced deep fried chicken, crispy anchovies, peanuts and the fried egg complimented each other. This was a shared dish as my mom and I are tiny eaters but we cleaned the plate on this one. Secret operation was to introduce another restaurant to my mom and she was very pleased with this pick of mine. She grew up eating many forms of Southeast Asian cuisines from her childhood. Pros: seated quickly, ambiance was lovely, appetizers came out quickly, the Lasuni Gobi was delicious. CONS: My husband and I waited 40+ minutes for our main dishes (dal + rice and the Paneer Tikka dish) to arrive....... And we watched the people who were seated AFTER us receive their MEAT dishes before we got our ours and we most definitely ordered first. We asked our server MORE THAN ONCE what was taking so long and we got the same answer each time "I've told the kitchen to hurry, it'll be out soon" To make matters worse, the person who brought us our dishes (maybe the chef? Maybe the manager?) brought them without the naan that we ordered. When I asked, "where's our naan?" He had the audacity to rudely say "it'll be out in a few minutes", as if we hadn't already been waiting 40+ minutes for vegetarian food that I could've whipped up myself in 20 minutes. His attitude towards us was so unacceptable considering the circumstances. We have absolutely no idea what happened or why it took so long for our simple dishes to arrive. It's especially perplexing considering that the people who came in AFTER us got their meat dishes first. The server apologized and decided to bring us some kulfi (ice cream) to try to make up for it, but we try to avoid eating sugar so that was useless. I felt bad for the server because it wasn't his fault that our food took a ridiculous amount of time to make it to our table, and it's not cool that a manager never stepped in to try to reconcile. As someone who waited tables for 8+ years, I was shocked at the lack of support this server received from his management team. The dal and paneer tikka dishes were average tasting at best (and overpriced), making another trip here completely unfathomable, most especially considering how we were treated. Note to management: do better. Support your staff and step in to reconcile with unhappy guests if this happens again.

I ordered the chicken platter as is with extra white sauce and a side of white sauce. Yes, that sauce is amazing!! You can eat there but i took my order to go. It did not disappoint! Flavor of rice chicken and fries were awesome! Fries held up even after taking it home and being covered in takeout container. My only gripe is the chicken to rice ratio. Wayyy more rice than chicken. I would love them to be more equal so I don't have so much rice to throw out/save after. The platter was a meal enough for two! And for a great price. Definitely coming back!

Currently my go-to halal food spot in the area. I had always thought halal food is better at the…read morecarts but Halal Eats changed my mind! I love how reliable this spot is when I need some late night halal food. They listed their business hours from 9 am to 4 am or 5 am on weekends - these are some very long business hours! My go to orders is the combo platter with chicken and lamb over rice, fries, and salad with all the sauces and their lunch special buy one get one gyro (applicable to chicken, lamb, combo, or falafel only)! The chicken and lamb meats are well seasoned and not dry at all. The platters are huge which justifies the higher price point and food is much more fresh and delicious compared to most carts in Queens. Recently, I tried the fried fish rice platter and it was delicious - fish was nicely fried and crispy, and doesn't seem greasy. I would order this again when I need a break from my combo. The platter is usually big enough for my hubs and I to share! Otherwise, it's two meals for me!
