Blink and you missed the entrance...I was looking for a full sized restaurant but instead it was a casual sit down with about six tables. There is table service - one lady who handles it all! She's the waitress, the staffer in charge of the online orders churning out of the machine, the person in charge of taking orders over the phone, running plates to and from the kitchen and she is in charge of the food pick up's. Phew! That was a mouth full. Fellow Yelper Sally suggested we try this place and we got there pre-dinner rush so we got our choice of seats. We picked a table for four knowing how much we were planning to order. Hee hee Started with the curry puffs as appetizers - nice and pillow-y with that flaky yet somewhat crispy edge. Three full sized puffs stuffed with good curry (it was not spicy) and potatoes. The waitress brought us some Thai hot sauce on the side as requested. But the puffs are served with the standard vinegar, onions and diced cucumber dipping sauce. And I did order a Thai beef salad (I asked for not spicy but it normally should be per the menu, there's one red pepper icon next to the dish listed) meant to be an entree but we ended up sharing it as an appetizer. It has a subtle fish sauce, cilantro and lime dressing. Just enough acidity and it paired nicely with the lettuce, tomatoes and sliced beef. It was refreshing for a summer salad option. For entrees, we ordered the crispy pork belly and Chinese broccoli. That was a really well executed dish. The broccoli was perfectly cooked - just well enough that it was tender to chew but still snappy. The pork belly was crispy and had great flavor. Chewed some of the fat, hey, that's why you ordered it. There's not a lot of fat so it's the right balance. I really enjoyed the texture of this dish. It came with rice but we skipped it to save room for the pad woosen noodles. It's a plate of clear glass noodles loaded with vegetables, think napa cabbage, tomatoes, scallions and mushrooms. Egg too! I saved room for the mango, sticky rice dessert. It was good since it was fresh mango but I did have better. Still worth a try if you like sweets. All in all a good value and authentic good eats.

The fried ice cream is a must try !!! It tastes really good and the workers are nice. I came here late on a wed night and they said they can sell me anything if it's fried.

Really tasty lunch specials! Loved everything that was ordered. - Tom kha w/chicken (mild)- creamy coconut soup with just a bit of spicy kick. I recommend this if you want a hearty soup and like coconut milk. - Pad Kee Mao - good flavor and good balance of protein + noodles - Papaya salad - refreshing (the papaya, carrots, and string beans were nice and crispy/crunchy) - Thai Sweet and Sour with Chicken - reminds me of the Chinese version of this dish. The sauce was good, but the chicken could've been flavored a bit more (the chicken didn't soak up the sauce that well). Great price, good portion, and tasty food. Will definitely return to try other dishes.

I enjoyed the pad seew and iced coffee. There is a lunch special which also includes a spring roll, soup, or salad. The staff was quick and friendly. The restaurant has seating but it is a smaller space. I will definitely be coming back!

1st time here & I got a small Tom yum soup ($6)-no bell peppers or tomatoes, mild, which was perfect! We got a Thai fried rice with shrimp & chicken which I can't speak for since I didn't try. They give a bottle of chili sauce on the side. I also ordered a seafood noodle (flat) soup which I highly regret. The soup is clear & extremely bland. I added a bit of the chili sauce which made the soup spicy but the seafood, noodles, & veggies were as bland as ever. Unless you like super bland food, don't order this dish. I wish I had just ordered seafood Tom yum instead.

My actual rating is 3.5 stars. This Woodside Thai spot is actually the third one that I have seen at this address. It appears that they have changed owners/names yet again. It is a cozy place with a handful of small tables. My overall experience is that the food here is solid, but it is a very standard Thai place overall. We had their basil fried rice, and noodle soup with duck. The portions sizes were very average, though they do give a decent amount of meat. Flavor wise, I thought that everything tasted fine, but everything was a little blander than normal. The basil fried rice for example was not spicy at all. Expect to pay standard prices - about $10-$11 for most entrees.

Khantong thai kitchen was absolutely splendid! Our meal opened up with a deliciously indulgent Thai iced tea. We got Thai dumplings for appetizer and they were full of flavor. The main course was panang curry and pad see ew, both equally mouthwatering! At the end we ended up adding the curry puffs as we couldn't pass our the chance of trying them; fluffy, crispy and flavorful! Khantong is just such an inviting place! And our server Scott was marvelous! Will be back soon!

Tiny, hole in the wall place that serves delicious home cooked Thai food. We had the wonton cheese bites as an appetizer and I tried their tofu miracle. I don't know what the miracle was supposed to be but my food was just very good - tofu, mushrooms, sprouts, and white rice. Everything seemed reasonably priced and they also had homemade coconut and lychee ice cream, which unfortunately we did not get to try this time. I do wish their menu was a bit more clear in regards to what is vegan/vegetarian friendly. I know Thai food often has fish sauce so it'd be nice to know what's safe to get without having to quiz the server each time.

The food was delicious and a bit spicy, even at the mild option. If I was there for lunch, I would have ordered a Thai ice tea (the drink had too much caffeine for me the evening ). The food was delicious, and is something that we'd all order again. My favorite part of the evening was the tv playing a Thai cooking show. There were no captions or subtitles so I kept asking the server what veggies were on screen, and they too didn't know because there was no caption. A fantastic restaurant worth hitting up if you're in the area.

From different regions. Some had proteins like chicken feet, pork, chicken. One was fish but only saw a few pcs of halved fishballs. The peanut curry was slightly sweet and was just the sauce. One was very spicy so just took the veggies and meat. Instructions were finally posted on how to put together the curries with the noodles and toppings, which were set up on the table as well. It was a good tasting. Service was good. Preferred cash payment but accepted credit cards with added 3% fee. Decor was bright with colorful flowers hanging from ceiling etc. Space is not that big. Had the $30 Branzino (didn't realize that it's fried. And that we had a choice between sweet chili sauce, mango salad, cashew cream sauce). The waitress didn't ask which one we wanted. Also had the $18 Crispy Watercress Kung Fu Salad. We were thinking of a duck dish (& I didn't see the Khao Soi - one either softshell crab that I've seen previously), but the couple next to us who's been there twice within the past 2 weeks recommended these two dishes. The salad was lightly battered vegetable, they used Water Spinach instead (big tuber fritters stuck together). The bowl of Seafood Salad (shrimp & calamari, kind of Thai ceviche-style) was OK but didn't have nuances in flavor (spicy sour sweet). The Liquid was deep at the bottom and it was hard spooning things on top of the vegetable. The presentation of the fish was gorgeous - came out on a fish-shaped platter on top of an little flame. The server poured the sauce over the fish and everything bubbled. There was cauliflower and string beans underneath the fish. Didn't realize that it was fried instead of broiled or grilled. We didn't know what sauce we were getting and at first I thought it was tiny bit sour, as I continued eating, it became like a one-note tamarind. Same - there wasn't any sweet sour spicy fishy. We asked for medium-spice when we ordered. It's a little awkard deboning and serving a fried crispy fish on top of a metal platter at a 2-seat table, but my Auntie-skills kicked in and it's no problem for me since I'm familiar with where the bones are. Friend ordered a Thai Coffee also (it might only come iced). The restaurant is beautiful and has a sleek but tropical Asian decor & about 75% full even up to closing. Has a cute outdoor seating area too - a very different vacation feel on a block of Woodside/Elmhurst Queens. Later I come to find out my Queens - born Thai friend said he stopped going to this restaurant after it's renovation and adding sushi to the menu. The ownership changed and he doesn't think it's Thai-owned anymore. Either way, I kind of wish the food met up to the standards of this "Little Thailand" area of NYC. Maybe I'll try them again if they have lunch specials. A couple was sharing a giant beer glass of Thai Tea.

The steak was the only dish that showed any sign of life. Everything else tasted as if it had been rinsed with water before being served--completely stripped of seasoning, aroma, and any trace of authentic Thai flavor. It's astonishing that a restaurant with such a strong reputation could produce food that's less flavorful than the faux Thai takeout spots tucked inside Chinese restaurants off the Ohio Turnpike. That's not an exaggeration. What's even more baffling is the location. In the heart of Queens, surrounded by Thai restaurants serving bold, vibrant, unapologetically flavorful food, Zaab Zaab somehow manages to be a culinary desert. The fried rice was bland, the drunken noodles were lifeless, and the pad kra pao lacked the punch, basil, heat, and savoriness that define the dish. It honestly felt as though the menu had been engineered for diners who think black pepper is adventurous. Instead of authentic Thai flavors, everything seemed toned down to the point of being unrecognizable. For a restaurant with this reputation, the meal was a massive letdown. There are countless nearby Thai restaurants that deliver the bold, aromatic flavors Thailand is known for. Save your money and your appetite for one of them.
