If you go with a party of 4, I highly recommend sharing the BBQ Meats sampler, the fried sampler, and some rice on the side. Both samplers were fantastic, and you get to try a little bit of everything. The only disappointing item was the bistec meat, which tasted old and rubbery, so I wouldn't recommend getting that. Amazing Filipino restaurant in NYC. I am visiting from out of town and I did see the video of Jordan Clarkson going over his favorite restaurants in NYC, so this was from his list. I loved it. The restaurant is located in Little Manila in NYC, so the vibes are already very Filipino which I love. This restaurant is very authentic Filipino, being in here felt like I was in the Philippines again. Everyone working here is so friendly and remind me of the Tito's and Tita's that would take care of you at the Filipino parties. I'm obviously biased being Filipino but I can say that the food was great and very well priced. The amount of food we got for what we ordered definitely had us bringing leftovers. I know this is a very popular place, but I must've just visited during a bad time/ordered the wrong things for my personal liking. We were seated immediately but waited 30 minutes before our food came out. I actually did enjoy the sinigang which packs a bright sour punch. But most of the lechon kawali was overcooked. We had the sampler platter, which was a HUGE offering of BBQ chicken, beef, longanisa sausage, pork chops, and pork belly accompanied by their crisp, refreshing atchara (like a slaw). All the meats were smoky and well seasoned and cooked appropriately. It was a ton of food for a great price. We also enjoyed their fresh juice (they have several types and you can see them making them behind the counter). Renee's is clearly a neighborhood spot where the locals flock. This was my first time visiting Renee's. My family and I came here on 10/18/2025, arriving around 5:30 p.m. for dinner. The restaurant is quite small inside. They have high chairs available for babies, which is nice. The staff were friendly for the most part and seated us quickly. My husband ordered the popular Mixed Grill, while my mom and I both ordered Goto. We also got Sizzling Sisig and Lumpiang Shanghai to share. Two generous portions of garlic rice came out first, but they were a bit stale and not as warm as I would've liked. The flavor was bland and could've used more seasoning. The Goto was hot and tasted good overall although a bit more yellow than I'm used to. My mom commented that they probably used too much saffron, which explains the very yellow color. The Mixed Grill looked mouthwatering when it arrived and it smelled great and looked even better. When my husband bit into the pork BBQ skewer, he said it was a bit tough and didn't touch it again for the rest of our visit. He finished the chicken and pork belly from the platter and decided to take the remaining pork BBQ stick and longanisa home. Fast forward to Sunday night: my husband wanted to have the leftover pork BBQ stick. As he sliced the meat off the skewer to reheat it in the oven, he suddenly called me over in shock. The inside of the pork BBQ was completely raw--not just under cooked, but raw throughout the entire skewer. My jaw dropped. I've never encountered anything like that before. I've posted pictures so everyone can see how obvious it is that it's raw inside. When grilling, it's important to watch the cooking temperature. If the heat is too high, the outside of the meat can cook too quickly, burning the sugars in the marinade and creating the illusion that the meat is fully cooked. That's what happened in this case, the person handling the grill, whether untrained or simply careless, assumed the meat was done when in reality only the exterior was cooked, while the inside remained completely raw. Naturally, we were quite upset and shocked. My husband hadn't been feeling well that Saturday night after we got home, and now we know why -- he had taken a bite of the poorly cooked pork BBQ stick. Thankfully, he didn't bite into a raw portion, but the contamination was clearly there, which explains why he felt unwell. We honestly got lucky that he didn't become more seriously ill. We decided to contact the restaurant because this is completely unacceptable. Serving raw pork is a serious food safety issue, and the staff needs to be made aware so they can address whoever is responsible for grilling. Someone could become severely ill if this happens again. When I called a few days later, I was told there was no manager available, apparently they're only in on Mondays. The staff I spoke with didn't seem to care or show any real concern. They offered to replace the food, but since we don't live locally, that wasn't a realistic solution. There was no apology, no offer to refund the platter, and no gesture of goodwill for new customers who had such a disappointing first experience. My husband's family owns a restaurant, and I've worked in the food industry myself. It's a normalized practice to comp or refund items when a mistake like this happens. While I understand it's ultimately up to management, in this case, even a partial refund would have been more than appropriate. We were served raw meat, the entire skewer was unsafe to eat. It's frightening to think what could have happened if we'd fed that to our baby instead of the pork belly. What bothers me most is the complete lack of concern. The fact that their kitchen served this, and they didn't even apologize or try to make it right, or even say they would address this with their team, says a lot about their priorities. If we wanted to spend over $100 for raw meat, we could have gone to the grocery store instead. It's hard to find Kapampangan cuisine, and I really wanted to like Renee's. But after this experience, I can't recommend it. If you do decide to go, avoid the grilled items or make sure to cut into your meat before eating. Don't take a blind bite because you will risk getting food poisoning. I've gone ahead and also reported this incident to 311. I take food safety seriously and just because we were lucky not to get severely ill, the next customer might not be so lucky. We won't be returning. I can't support or give money to establishments that don't care for the safety of their own customers. I'm not trying to intentionally hurt this business but they need to do better. I honestly kind of agree because if you know me IRL, you'd know I am well-versed in the Filipino culture, food, and even some of the language (I also got the accent down a long time ago). Back to the food - I convinced my ate (work bestie) last weekend to ditch her go-to spot for brunch and come to Renee's with me instead. We woke up late and were on a tight schedule that day so we ended up having to order our food to-go instead. She got the tinapasilog and I got my favorite longsilog. I'm not one to eat fish for my first meal of the day but her food smelled really good. My longsilog as usual, was delectable - very juicy and the right balance of sweet and savory. The only thing I was displeased with that day was the garlic rice. It did not taste right. It tasted like they mixed a spoonful of minced garlic from the jar with old rice and that's not how it's normally supposed to taste. I've had Filipino food before, but having Filipino food at Renee's has upped the bar. Renee's is a hidden gem in Woodside and you can tell the place is family owned and authentic. The restaurant is casual but homey and the restaurant wasn't crowded on an early evening on Friday. My friend and I didn't take into account that this place closes at 7pm and we got there at 6pm. If you want more time to dine, lunchtime is a better bet. Despite the confusion on why our bill was closed so early, we were provided with friendly service. Our food also came out relatively fast so we had time to eat. My friend and I shared an ube shake, a spicy sisig, and the oxtail kare kare. The ube shake was sweet and creamy and tasted pretty good. I really enjoyed the sizzling spicy sisig which was not super spicy but had a flavorful kick. The sisig was especially great with the garlic rice. The oxtail kare kare with the shrimp paste was also very good and they gave several pieces of tender oxtail. These entrees with the amount of rice given to us were more than enough to fill us up. While Filipino desserts have gotten special attention these past few years, I think Filipino food still hasn't gained enough traction to catch up to the Filipino dessert craze. 100% will be coming back. I don't think I've had filipino barbecue this good before. I dropped by at around 3pm and was quickly greeted by a worker. They have a large menu containing various grilled items, soups, entrees, and desserts, all at very reasonable prices. Most entrees were under $20 and they all came with a decent portion of rice. I ordered the Mixed Grill ($18), which came with longanisa, pork bbq on a stick, bbq chicken thigh, and liempo. I think it's the perfect order to share with another person, and it's such a great deal! Everything was absolutely smothered in bbq sauce and no piece of meat was dry. My favorite item was the longanisa, and I'll be sure to order extra the next time! A different customer ordered the sizzling sisig, and it smelled so good I knew that I had to come back for it. I went with my friend for lunch , it was packed so maybe it's a good sign that the food is good. Meanwhile a server told me that there's going to be a seat available soon , he gave us the menu while standing on the side and told us if we can order the food now so it will be ready when we sit . Short review- Cheap alright sampler platters. Excellent desserts. Outstanding lumpiang/lumpia. Maybe we ordered wrong? I was here with one of my usual groups. We ordered a couple specials per group of people as per their recommendation though we felt that we over-ordered (though it didn't really matter much as the prices were still very reasonable.) The service was friendly outside of this and they served pretty quickly. I got a Sago al Gulaman to drink which wasn't that good. A bit blander than most other spots. I would probably go with a melon juice next time if we were to go back. The first dish that arrived was the Lumpiang Shanghai/Lumpia or fried pork mini spring rolls. These were outstanding and probably the best of all the spots I have tried around Woodside and outside of this area. Very light batter with a good crunch and some good pork flavor. I would have preferred a spicier dipping sauce (should have probably requested some chili vinegar) but it worked. The garlic rice we got on the side arrived soon after and it was average though I definitely preferred the one at both Tito Rad's and Ihawan. The next thing that arrived was the Fried Sampler. This consisted of even more lumpiang shanghai/lumpia, fried longanisa, and fried fish-balls. I asked the waiter what was in the fish-balls (as I am very allergic to squid and octopus and a lot of Southeast Asian fish balls contain cuttlefish which I haven't had of course since said allergy started,) and they weren't sure (unsure if this means that they either don't make them or don't know the ingredients or someone would have to ask in Tagalog) so I didn't have it but other people liked them. The longanisa, a Filipino sausage, was very tasty but I preferred the grilled version from the next sampler platter. The dipping sauce as before went well enough. This was fine but I preferred the spring rolls alone. The other dish that arrived was the BBQ Grilled Sampler. This consisted of BBQ pork/inihaw na baboy, BBQ chicken, pork belly/liempo, longanisa/pork sausage, and pork chops which was all served with a small helping of atchara or pickled papaya. This was a massive plate of food and plenty for even one more person (this was said over-ordering but I didn't mind that much.) The BBQ pork was the best part as with most other Filipino spots but I preferred Ihawan as I found the pork there more tender while Tito Rad's has more flavor. The longanisa was delicious and definitely 2nd best. The pork belly was alright while the pork chops were unfortunately kind of chewy and I found the BBQ chicken kind of bland (with the sauce reminding me of some generic American barbecue sauces.) This was overall better than the fried sampler but not amazing either. For dessert, we got the Halo Halo special which was wonderful. Very good mix of ingredients and not overly sweet. I also got the Biko Special separately which consisted of two flavors of this wonderful sticky rice; pandan and ube. These were made fresh and they came up piping hot and I gave a bit out and everyone liked it a whole lot. To be honest, the deserts are better than any of the food outside of the lumpiang which is a bit surprising. While the deserts and lumpiang shanghai/lumpia were both outstanding, the rest of the food left a little bit to be desired. The Filipino BBQ was good but if I wanted good cheap Filipino BBQ, I'd go to Ihawan. The rest of the food was just alright. Reasonably priced but not as well flavored as some other places I know. This place is great! Made me feel right at home. My mom is from Pampanga and it couldn't get more authentic than this. Their tapsilog is cooked to perfection and their eggs tasted so fresh. The rice was light enough that it didn't stick together too much - you can definitely eat with your hands! They also have Red Horse and San Miguel, but most importantly, they are generous with the wine pour! They have Christmas decorations up already in October (LOL so authentically Filipino) and there is enough space for big families or just a cozy date night. One of the best Filipino restaurants I've been to. I haven't had too many filipino bbq spots before but this one definitely set a standard. I've been here on multiple occasions and have tried quite a few things. Their bbq platters are definitely a must alongside garlic rice. If you need something to soothe the soul or cure a hangover, arroz caldo (chicken rice porridge) is one of the best things you can have (with a bit of citrus juice in it). To end it off, pandan and ube sticky rice is my go to. It's nice and glutinous with some coconut shavings on top. My only complaint is that they don't open later at night! read more

My entree was bisteksilog, which was beef and onion cooked in soy sauce and lemon and it also came with garlic rice and two fried eggs. The flavor of the steak was good but I found it a little dry. I tried a bit of the tapsilog which is also fried beef and I liked that better. I also tried a bit of the arroz caldo which is chicken congee. This was my first time trying Filipino congee. It was a little more watery than Chinese congee and it was full of garlic flavor, and I loved it as a garlic lover! The portion of the BBQ sampler was huge and I was not expecting that much meat for $30. We only ate 1/4 of it and we just brought the rest home. All the meat in the BBQ sampler was very flavorful and it was on the sweeter side. It came with vinegar which helped balancing the sweetness of the marinade on the meat. We also got the warm ube con hielo as dessert at the end and that was probably my favorite item of the meal. They gave a very generous amount of ube and it tasted amazing after mixing with the shredded coconut and shaved ice. Overall, we had a great experience here! Food was delicious and the portion was huge for the price. The staffs were extremely nice and friendly and we enjoyed our time there. A few days ago, my friend and I were in the area craving for some good Filipino food! Originally, we were in the area to try Kusina, which is right next door to Renee's. But as we walked past, we took notice to how busy the restaurant was, as compared to Kusina which was dead. So we decided to try Renee's instead. Renee's, from the inside, doesn't look like much. My friend and I agreed that we felt like we were in someone's dining room or basement...and that the owners probably lived upstairs...lol But looks can be deceiving, as the food is authentic and delicious! I'm not familiar with Filipino food, so my friend did the ordering. We got chicken adobo (many people consider this the national dish of the Philippines), two garlic rice, the BBQ Grilled Sampler, and the Oxtail Kare-Kare and we got two avocado shakes! Food came out fairly quickly. Portions were just the right size. My favorite were the Oxtail and the Avocado shakes! Oxtail was quite flavorful, and paired with the garlic rice, was the perfect bite! I was so happy that the avocado shakes were made from actual avocados and not powdered and not loaded with sugar either! The shakes were very refreshing! The BBQ sampler was a combination of grilled chicken, steak, grilled hot dogs and some other meats. For the price, we got a lot of meat and it's a great deal! However, the big disappointment was the chicken adobo! It just didn't taste right...I'm not 100% sure how to describe it...lol My friend said she tasted some kinda seasoning that tasted Chinese? I don't know...the chicken overall was rather dry and the sauce didn't taste authentic. I've definitely had better chicken adobo elsewhere. Nevertheless, Renee's was definitely the right choice for us that day! Very cozy and warm vibe, coupled with good authentic food and good service. That's a win in my book! read more
