Ube Ube Leche Flan - 7"
    Mark S.

This place is putting together some great and authentic Filipino desserts. The flavors really come through and are well balanced. The ube leche flan was delicious, with a smooth leche flan on top of a very moist ube cake. The halo-halo was refreshing and packed with an assortment of toppings that all worked very well together. The atmosphere inside is very comfortable, with plenty of space, and the service is extremely friendly.

This is the place to quench your ube cravings. I had a dessert served chilled which tasted like an ice cream cake, the ube cookie, the ube flan and the ube cupcake with some ube milkshake. I could not stop eating even after I was full. The person working was very knowledgeable and helpful as I asked about all my different cravings, and although I did not eat there, the room is nicely lit with amazing pictures of their food offerings as well as a wall of lavender flowers. I want to come back and try the flavored food I did not have the stomach space to lol

Shout out to the very sweet, and very tall gentleman who was super apologetic when telling me they were out of mint lemonade. He made our visit so lovely. Staying true to their reputation, Purple Dough was a perfect end to the hot day. Known for their Ubé treats, I was happy to see they had some available for the day. I snagged my fav, their chocolate crinkle cookie, and a few Ubé cupcakes and vegan cake donuts to bring to my family. Don't be afraid to take pics in front of their purple flower wall. She's so cute, and it makes it that much more inviting to stay here. As we left I sipped on my hibiscus tea and it was so nice a refreshing and made me not miss my mint lemonade at all.

I understand why this place has had a lot of attention and their best seller is the Ube Leche Flan ($10). I pass by this bakery/cafe a lot after hours from Long Beach and the LIRR - Woodside stop. Finally decided to treat myself and even though the price point is a bit high for the item, it was worth it. Have never had leche flan before, thought it was a weird invention of an egg custard on top of cake. I have also never thought much about Ube as a flavor, there wasn't anything distinct about it, even though people love it. A conversation with the owner changed my mind - I was originally looking for a pandan dessert. I also got 2 small cupcake bites (Thai Tea & Earl Grey). Even though they were simple unfrosted tiny cupcakes, they were very moist & had good distinct flavors. The Ube Leche Flan was a lightly soaked cake and for me, the egg custard felt like a decadent icing. It's also a fairly heavy dessert, and only requires a few bites. It lasted about 2-3 days for me, for a smallish 5-6" piece. All of the components worked really well together and of course - it wasn't too sweet! I've tried a similar Leche Flan at another older Filipino bakery in Queens & it brought me here to write a review - Purple Dough's making it so much better. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming. The space is big and feels a bit empty at times, but that's OK because it sounds like they do well with custom cakes and weddings. The time I went in and when I passed by, I've only seen just a few tables full. It'd probably be a decent place to work since it seems quiet. There's decorations throughout and it feels very homey with a little bit DIY. (Bench with a green wall for selfies). Think one time the young daughter of the owner was "working" at the counter. I hope families enjoy the space. The business is under a 10 minute walk from different stations off the R, 7, and LIRR. It's a low-key area of Woodside but with a lot of gems - The OG Thai restaurant, Sripriphai (cash only!), 3 Aunties Thai Grocery (closes early!), other south asian restaurants; a Pupuseria (with Horchata de Morro) nearby. Too bad Dollar Hits closed. Definitely worth a visit! About 30 minutes from Manhattan.

Filipino bakery with southeast Asian flavored desserts. Purchases a 20 pack of mini cupcakes in flavors like Thai iced tea, pandan, earl grey, etc. loved all the different flavors. Normally each mini cupcake is $1 each but if you buy 20, it's $15 plus tax.

I came here after Amazing Grace for dessert. It was a sweet walk over a few blocks, as they have changed locations from where they were before (by 69th street). I got the ube cake and ice cream in a jar, I have never tried it, and I would get it again! The cake was moist and both cake and ice cream didn't over power each other and were a sweet balance of flavor. Thank you guys for the dessert and please keep up the great work!

I love ube and this place was definitely ube heaven. My friends and I were passing by one day and decided to try a couple of desserts. We got the ube madelines (picture attached), ube flan cake (unfortunately was devoted before picture ), ube latte (also forgot to take picture), a coconut Pandan jar cake with Pandan ice cream (picture attached) and a ube mini cupcake (picture attached). Firstly, the ube flan cake was definitely a fan favorite. It was one of the last desserts to touch the table and the first ones to be finished. The coconut pandan jar cake with the Pandan ice cream was one of my personal favorites although I do have to warn you, DO NOT COME WITH A FULL STOMACH. I wanted to finish this so badly but unfortunately I had to tap out. The ube latte with coffee was not very sweet which was perfect for me because I do not like to drink anything too sweet when eating sweets. Now, I would've given a 4.5 stars if possible because the Madelines and the mini cupcake was a little on the drier side for me, however, both the cashiers that day were super sweet and their service honestly made me and my friends days. This made me definite that the store deserved its full 5 stars! I will definitely be back to try more desserts and take in the vibes of the store!

Super cute filipino bakery in woodside! My partner & I have been looking for the best halo halo and right now this is our favorite one! Super friendly staff and the halo halo was made fresh super quick. We ordered this to go and they served it in a mason jar. Definitely will be reusing this glass jar at home. Definitely will be coming back soon to try out other goodies

Second time stopping by. Both times, the bakery items did not taste/feel fresh but rather a day or two old combined with refrigeration which makes the cake stiffer. Personally I prefer lighter and fluffier cakes while I would describe these items as a denser bite. However, I do love the variety of flavors. Can't name another place that offers as many appetizing flavors as this bakery.

Located a block from Roosevelt Ave. Metered and street-cleaning parking nearby. Went once to their previous location. This one is spacious, with a few tables (I feel can fit more), a purple flower wall and bench for photo-ops. Restroom available (with a key). Menu on the wall, mostly for beverages. Tried the Durian bubble tea $5- just ok. At the counter, can see the baked/dessert items with their prices. A variety to choose from. Tried their coco pandan and mango mini cake flans. I liked the flan - rich, dense, sweet so small portion only for me. The cake was a smaller layer compared to the flan so the flavors weren't as noticeable. Price was good at $5. Am not a cupcake person but liked the ube cupcake texture and taste. Only $3. Smaller cupcakes available for $1 each- if you want a taste of a few flavors.

The place is very cute and chill. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I got the Ube cannolis, ube cupcakes, ube flan coconut pandan shake, and taro bubble tea. Ube cannolis were my favorite, shells were crunchy and the filling was the perfect sweetness and flavor. The ube flan was good, but maybe I should've let it sit out for a little. Its was a bit firm. Cupcakes were as expected, delicious. Taro bubble tea was ok, the Boba was overcooked and had a bitter flavor. Coconut pandan shake was refreshing and it had sago in it.

Absolutely delish treats! Flavorful but not too sweet! The service was great! Would highly recommend.

They kept the bar, which is good. The staff was friendly, but kind of rushed us to get our orders before the show started. They explained it would have been more difficult to take orders later. The food was really, really good. All the flavors were on point. For the appetizer, we had some Crispy Chicken Skins. It was nice and crispy, but it needed some more salt. We had the Port Belly Kare-Kare, Beef Salpicao, the Pancit Palabok, Laing and Gambas. The one that stole the show was the Bagnet. That was mind blowing! Very flavorful and I highly recommend it. The chicken barbecue sticks were flavorful and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the lumpia Shanghai didn't quite hit the mark for me :( it tasted like it was fried in older oil, and the filling was very minimal, so it felt like mostly wrapper. I was most excited to try the pork sinigang. While the broth had good flavor, the pork didn't taste freshly cooked and came across as if it may have been made a day or two prior. Overall, I really liked the vibe of this place and the friendly service, which makes me hopeful that my next visit will be better. I'd definitely be open to giving it another try.
