I got the pandan coconut cake from here. We walked around few bakeries and came back. My mom really enjoyed this cake and said it wasn't sweet. She would have given it 5/5 but for me it was alright. I had better pandan cake and it felt like they used too much of the concentrate instead of fresh pandan leaves. You can taste the artificial pandan which I don't like. I would given it 3/5. Soft, fluffy ube chiffon, rolled clean like it trained for this, packed with ube whipped cream. Zero cracks. Zero mercy. Then came the mochi donuts. Pineapple Mochinut -- first bite screams PINEAPPLE. Soft, slightly chewy, creamy frosting, dangerously good. Chocolate Mochi Donut -- solid, rich, did not disappoint. I went here when it was new and didn't find a lot to choose from (maybe they ran out already that time of day). Popped in recently since was in the area and there were a lot more buns/baked items to choose from. Prices are lower than some bakeries. Mochi donuts are $3; buy 2 get 1 free. Steamed buns were ok: tried the pork and veggie; and combo bun - with added quail egg, piece of sausage and shrimp. Staff is helpful, and amiable. Have tables/stools so good for a quick bite. No restroom. Not far from Queens Boulevard so close to buses and Grand Ave/Newtown subway stop. read more

Come early to get their pastries and buns for they sell out fast. Sometimes I get here by 4 PM and there are lots of cream buns left which are very popular. The roast pork buns go fast too. I didn't visit this establishment but I was surprised with a cake from here for my birthday! Ordering process was super simple (according to my mother) and she went the day before to look at their options and place an order for next day pickup. Not sure the exact name of the cake, but it was half chocolate mousse, half chocolate cake. It was DELICIOUSSS. Not too sweet and the cake isn't the typical rich, dense chocolate cake. It is a lighter, spongier cake that balances out the richness of the chocolate mousse and ganache on top. Super happy with this cake! :) read more

There are some standard Chinese bakery breads here, but the selection is limited as the focus is more on the sweets here (cake, donuts, swiss rolls, cream puffs, etc.). Food: The mochi donuts have a lightly fried exterior and chewy middle and are pretty good! I love that the flavors aren't overly sweet. So far, I've tried the fruity pebbles, churro, mango, biscotti/coffee, strawberry, and matcha flavors. They were all fresh and tasty. I am amazed at how well they replicated the strawberry Pocky flavor. It tastes exactly like the strawberry Pocky stick! Certain mochi donut flavors sell out quick and I kind of wish there was a way to reserve them in advance. There could be two people taking orders at once and the last donut of a certain flavor could be snatched up by the person behind you because they called it before you did or if their person worked quicker than the one taking your order. It was also unclear if you should order the donuts at the cash register or if you should just call out to a person behind the display counter (I've seen both happen). They have HK milk tea here and it's well made. Their cake slices are pretty good too. Definitely try a few! Ambiance: The bakery is brightly lit and clean. There is a small seating area at the back of the store if you wish to eat in. Location: So glad they opened a location at this spot. Very cute bakery with lots of indoor seating. Their breads/pastries are so fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. Unlike most Asian bakeries in the area, they take credit cards. It fills me with joy to know that a Rainbow bakery has opened so close to home. The prices are reasonable and the quality of the pastries, bread, etc. can't be beat. We've been here a few times for breakfast during the week and we can usually get seats. You can use cash or credit card. The only thing that I didn't like was there wasn't a ramp for strollers or wheel chairs to go past the steps. Other than that, everything else is great. The mochi donuts are buy 2 get 1 free right now. The assortment of refrigerated desserts and baked goods are more diverse than other Rainbow bakeries. Their decorated cakes are absolutely delightful. I can't wait for a birthday to come along so I can order a cake decorated with Doraemon, Ariel, Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, etc. My husband and I enjoy their oyster mushroom bun as well as their garlic chicken bun. Personally, I love their Mille crepe tuna bun, it's filled with more tuna than any other bakery. Definitely recommend this bakery to family & friends! Love that another Rainbow bakery franchise opened up in Elmhurst. This location is much bigger compared to the other ones I've been to in Queens, more spacious and there is seating in the back. They have a wide selection of pastries, cakes and buns. I usually go to the one across Queens Blvd, but will most likely be going to this location since it is more convenient. read more

Came here as I was craving a mochi donut. They had a grand opening special, buy 2, get the 3rd free. I had tried the strawberry x2 and mango. They were good but I still find mochi mochi to be better. They seemed to have some nice pastries and cakes as well. Cozy place, has a few tables in the back to sit as well. If you're paying, make sure your bills are perfectly fine or else they won't take it. My $5 has a tiny rip to it and the cashier insisted that they cannot take it. It's money still right? Best mochi coffee donut I've ever had, I'm so happy I went, now I dream about it daily. I did take 4 to go, gave me neighbor one donut then ate 3 on my own the next day. This is the third rainbow bakery in Elmhurst area. Really spacious and clean with seatings. Only thing I notice is that they charge more for the buns in this bakery than the other rainbow bakeries in the area. read more
