It's a boy! Gender reveal cake
    Lisa S.

Absolutely an amazing experience head to toe! We ordered a peach cake for our gender reveal and Maria was so kind and professional helping us out to make sure it was the perfect cake. It was delivered on time and tasted delicious. The price was reasonable so please go and support this beautiful business.

As always the cakes for any occasion don't disappointed you, the service is great Maria is amazing and the atmosphere is homily. Thank you for always accommodated my need even in the last minute.

First time coming to this bakery. Pastries all looked delicious. The staff was polite and friendly... The Croissant was fresh and super soft with a hint of butter.

I needed something sweet to take back to my parents as a thank you for babysitting. And just as this idea popped into my head was when I walked past La Dolce Italia. It was fate! A very old school Italian bakery, I felt like this bakery and I went way back. The problem I always have when going into a bakery is: Everything looks so good, I just want to buy it all. The person behind the counter was super patient while I faced the internal conflict of what to get. After careful consideration, I decided on getting two lobster tails, an apple turnover and a piece of crumb cake. She packaged everything up and I went on my merry way. Before moving on to those sweet treats, I would like to comment on the place itself. I couldn't get over how clean it was. There wasn't even a finger print on the glass looking in on the cakes and cookies. The cappuccino maker looked almost brand new. I was super impressed. Back to delicious desserts! Honestly, I can only speak for the lobster tails which tasted super fresh. The pastry was fluffy yet had a nice crunch when biting into it. The whipped cream inside was airy and not too sweet. I will definitely grab another one from here next time I pass. As for the other items I bought, my family devoured them before I could try. Their thoughts: yummy and delicious. They don't make bakeries like this anymore. The simplicity of this place is what makes it special! I am so happy I found this spot!

Maria did a great job for my daughter's 1st birthday cake. I showed her a pic of what I wanted and she exceeded my expectation. She was communicative and made sure she got my order correct. We ordered a vanilla sponge cake with lemon filling. Everyone enjoyed the cake at the party. Would order a cake again from her again in the future.

    Chocolate mousse cake

My husband always picks up desserts from here and he has never once encountered an issue. Kind and friendly service. Recently we got the chocolate mousse cake for our anniversary. It was THE best chocolate mousse I've ever had. Fresh layer of chocolate (that was still soft days later) and semi sweet cake. It wasn't overpowering which some mousse's can be. It was also a shorter cake which made it more tolerable to eat. Perfect size, height, and just the right amount of sweetness for a chocolate mousse cake. Will definitely get it again in the future. Also tried some other slices in the past including: red velvet (good but a bit too sweet for me), tiramisu (good) and some different cookies. The fruit tart wasn't bad. Overall, they have a variety of baked goods to select from so I'm happy to have these choices!

Food was pretty food. The cookies were a little stale. The service was friendly. The ambiance is a little dark but quaint

This bakery is the best! My daughters bridal shower cake was beautiful & delicious, as well as the cupcakes and the donuts. So happy with the customer service and prices!

Where do I begin! This is my favorite bakery for custom cakes. I've been ordering custom cakes for my family for the past 4 years. The baker never disappoints and I can send any photo and he will bring it to life. I definitely recommend this bakery. They are punctual and always deliver what the customer asks for.

There's usually a line of some length during peak hours and especially around the holidays. You can tell by the sheer volume of baked goods and cakes available in their window displays that they sell a lot daily. This location is on the main drag of the little downtown section of Forest Hills, the baked goods in the front window display connect to a tall and long glass counter along the left side of the store that extends almost to the back. At the back middle and along the right side of the wall there's seating for about two dozen people at small cafe tables. They carry an assortment of traditional cakes (full and sliced), pies, cookies, pastries, cheesecakes, cupcakes, ice cream and coffee/tea drinks. A wide variety of flavors in each, so you're bound to find something sweet to satisfy most here. They are a classic bakery so from what I can tell, they don't carry items that are gluten, dairy or nut free. I've purchased their apple pie, fruit tart, berry napoleon, red velvet and chocolate fudge cakes from this or other locations in the past and they're all solid choices for desserts to share with a larger group, though I find a lot of their cake options to be on the richer side. My most recent encounter with their cakes came in the form of a slice of their seven layer cake $9.95 which is thin layers of yellow cake alternating with chocolate cream mmm pretty tasty, and their caramel cake $9.95 which had a layer of chocolate cake in the middle, sandwiched by caramel cream and white cake on either side. The latter had a pronounced caramel flavor that was enjoyable though a bit too much cream for me. My preference would be for their chocolate cakes over other cake flavors here. Their apple pie is one of my favorite apple pies anywhere tho!

It's absolutely amazing, and the filling is very generous--it feels like heaven in every bite. Another favorite of mine is the chocolate layer cake: rich, velvety smooth chocolate that isn't overly sweet. The only thing I don't agree with is that they do not clearly tell customers that dining in adds an extra $1 charge to each item. Yes, check your receipt. I'm expected to tip my waitstaff and also pay an extra dollar per item just because I chose to dine in. For example, the cupcake is usually $4.75 to go, but they charged me an extra $1 for dining in. Their cake slices are usually $9.50 to go, but I was charged $10.50. I also tipped 20%, so the added charge felt frustrating, especially since there was no clear notice. When I asked the waitstaff about the $1 charge, she said it was entered that way because I dined in. When I later called about it, the manager simply said, "Next time, just order to go if you don't want to be charged extra." That response was disappointing, especially since there was no visible sign explaining this policy, and their dine-in menu does not show separate pricing. I really think management should fix this to avoid misleading customers. Transparency matters. Don't get me wrong--I would still come back because their cakes are amazing, but from now on, I'll always order everything to go.

I ordered the strawberry tart, lemon tart and pistachio Mille fille. I really appreciated the packaging and the takeout bag, which made it seem very high end. It was slightly disorganized but I think it was mostly due to the amount of customers they had that day.

This corner store in Astoria is one I have been passing by regularly over the last few months, and it has good service and some nice outdoor seating. So far, my favorite item has been the Pistachio Lattice, which is super crunchy on the surface while the nutty sweetness shines through on each bite. Another one I really enjoy is the Blueberry Cardamom Escargo, which has absolutely delicious cream cheese frosting mixed with wild blueberry jam and that nice hint of cardamom. Very moist. The Chocolate Chunk Cookie is pretty good too. Plenty of chocolate chunks with a hit of salt. However, their popular Pain Au Chocolate is not the best I have had. There is just not enough chocolate in each bite. Prices are not cheap, but the pastries are mostly very large in size, so you somewhat do get what you pay for. I don't eat baked goods too often, so it's not that bad in my mind. Service has been solid too.
