From the store front, I didn't expect a Chinese bakery here. I went in the afternoon and they had a small selection of sweet breads. But of course, they had the pineapple buns (sweet, buttery pastry on top of a plain or filled bread). I went for an interesting looking bun--red bean swirl with crushed peanuts on top. I really enjoyed the pillowy bread texture and how it was not to sweet. In their refrigerated showcase, they have an assortment of mini cakes and sandwiches. I purchased a bun, thinking it had an egg since it was wrapped and part of the eggs was visible and boy was I wrong. Only half an egg (maybe even less? please see picture to be your own judge) existed in the sandwich. Worst part is I paid $2.50 for what was essentially a slice of meat, too much mayo, some lettuce and a sad partial egg slapped together. I have been wanting to try this bakery for years! Got a chance to do so with a customized cake for my mom's birthday. I decided to test the coconut mousse flavor by ordering a slice of cake first. It's a decent sized slice for $3.25 and comes in a plastic container. I liked the coconut shavings on the side. Good portion of cream/mousse to cake. Very fresh, light and soft. Not an overwhelming coconut flavor - just right. With that experience, I decided to order the 6 inch cake ($23) with a customized design based on their book with the coconut mousse flavor. The design and color scheme were adjustable. Easy to book and picked up two days later. Adorable box packaging. I picked up the cake but we weren't going to eat it until the following day which was the day of the surprise. Surprisingly , still very fresh as if it came out of the kitchen! I didn't think the consistency would be so fresh after a day and a half in the fridge. However, I was disappointed in how much cream there was versus cake. I was hoping for more cake than cream/frosting such as the slice that I tried. I'll be back to try the other cake flavors and their buns. I'll try the cake again but hope this time there will be a more equal percentage of cake and cream, less cream and more cake. read more

Everything is priced nicely (most items are $1.50 - $2). They have a few tables where you can enjoy your bun, & coffee. Decor is very plain, but is well lit, & airy. We comes here occasionally to get iced milk tea ($3.25 for large). I wish that it tasted a little stronger, the tea flavor is very light (I'd rate it a 3). If i'm correct, some of their baked goods is half off, after 7p. It seems that this place is popular for their custom designed cakes (for birthdays, & occasions). Good option if you're looking for a themed cake for a celebration. I like how our cake wasn't made with fondant. A lot of bakeries use it to get the design that customers want but I personally find it very hard to stomach because it's very sweet and artificial tasting. Rather, our cake was decorated with a yellow cream that tasted much better. Other than the design, the cake tasted pretty plain, having a taste similar to other Chinese bakery assorted fruit cakes. They did include this gelatinous/pudding-like substance in the cake though, which was a pleasant surprise. I got a chance to look at the designs of some of the other cakes that were made here and they are definitely top notch. The location of the store is a little out of the way but if I'm ever in need of a well-decorated cake for a special occasion, I'll definitely keep this store open as an option. read more

Compared to other bakeries I've been to out in California and Chinatown in NY, the pastries here are very reasonably priced! The impressive thing about this place was that there were two varieties of the pineapple bun: the flakey crust of the HK version as well as the Taiwanese(?) one, better known as the melon pan.
