So we have worked with this place 4 times. And twice they have been great and twice they have been ok. Our wedding cake was amazing and perfect. It had everything that we wanted in a cake. For my son's baby shower we we're going for a beach theme and that was ok. I guess my expectations were kind of high because of how the wedding cake turned out. Then for my son's 1st bday party I wanted cupcakes with something from the Incredibles. They came up with printed edible sheets on top of the icing. I initially called her for an appointment and ask if she'll be able to make me a very specific cake design for my 3 tier cake. When we arrived there, she handed us her 3 best seller flavors for us to sample. It was red Velvet, chocolate, and strawberry. It was so good and moist. The strawberry flavor wasn't just a flavor, she was actually using actual sweet strawberries which was to me a great thing to have in my cake. We had a hard time choosing which one to choose. And then we realized hey, why not just have 3 flavors on our 3 tier cake! We told her the day and time we needed the cake. And as agreed she delivered our cake on time. All I can say is $363 down the drain. Very unprofessional and poor quality cake. I ordered the cake for a baby shower a week in advance/placed the deposit. The day of the baby shower I was supposed to pick up the cake at 2 PM. I received a call around lunchtime with an excuse saying the cake wouldn't be ready. I said, okay what time do you think it'll be ready? I was told 3, okay that's fine. I got to the bakery at 3 PM and the cake was probably only 25% done. The said for some reason that that wasn't enough time, so I had to find some where else. Of course I went to my trust worthy application...Yelp! It had seen really good reviews on the taste of the cake which is very important for me. We got the strawberry custard filling with yellow cake. It was pretty good! Not only did the cake and cupcakes look sooo PERFECT, it was so delicious. The cake I ordered was Disney Sofia the First Theme Birthday Cake for my Daughter's Princess Sonia's 4th Birthday Party. It was a 2 tier cake to feed a total of 40 people, top layer was vanilla cake and vanilla creme, and bottom layer was vanilla cake with chocolate creme, and 48 cupcakes, half vanilla and other half was chocolate, half with purple icing on top and other half with pink icing on top. Can't say enough good things about Custom Cakes. Due to some last minute issues, I found myself in need of someone to bake a cake for a baby shower that would feed 60-65 people within two weeks. The baby shower was early December, so there were weddings abound AND the holidays were upon us so most of the people I called were too busy. I happened to locate Maricor online and initially we communicated everything via text. I sent her a picture of the design I was thinking of and after a little back and forth, she quoted a price and we set up a time for me to come in and taste the different cakes. Price was reasonable and even though she had a large wedding to do that day, she assured me she could fit it in if I was willing to pick up myself. When I went into the shop to taste the cake, Maricor and I went over the cake design in detail, right down to the last baby bottom ruffle. I was impressed by her attention to detail. Ultimately, cake was completed late night the evening before so it would be ready for pickup first thing the next morning. Maricor was even kind enough to send me a photo of the finished product the evening before since she wouldn't be around the day of when I went to pickup. It was perfect and oh so delicious! Bottom layer was vanilla with strawberries (which, by the way are fresh strawberries) and the top two layers were red velvet. I tried Maricor's (the owner) empanadas two years ago because a friend brought them over for a New Year's Eve celebration. The minute I took a bite, I knew these empanadas were different. They were baked (not fried), the fillings were full of flavor, and the crust was so delicious -- light and buttery. They were the best empanadas I ever tasted. When I went to Maricor's shop to order the empanadas for an event, I discovered to my delight that she also catered Filipino food and is also an incredible pastry chef. Her food is made with love and even my father who can be very particular about his food raved about her cooking. He even exclaimed that the oxtail stew was cooked "perfectly." Maricor's cakes are not only beautiful, they are so good that you will want to eat every bit of it including the delicious buttercream frosting (that's saying a lot from a health coach who will only eat exceptional sweets). She is a culinary artist and a secret treasure that I feel so lucky to have discovered. I love her cooking and her baking. I contacted the owner and had a rush request [5 days] to make a custom Halloween cake for my son's birthday party. I sent the lady a picture of the exact cake that I wanted and asked for a reasonable price, as the cake was small and only needed to feed about 25 people. She dropped the price from $300 to $196 [with tax]. I read her reviews and was expecting the cake to not only taste good, but look great as well, as this was a themed party. The cake looked like absolute shit when I went to pick it up. The design that I sent her, looked NOTHING like the cake I was given. It looked like she just slapped some fondant on there, didn't even smooth it out properly and the pumpkin was not even orange!!!! It wasn't even shaped like a pumpkin, it looked like a deflated ball. It was so POORLY presented I was in shock. If I hadn't paid a deposit, I would have NEVER taken that cake. It was so ugly and not what I was expecting at all. I was HIGHLY disappointed. Why would you take my request knowing that you weren't going to put your all into it? Why not just say no, you're too busy?? She had the nastiest attitude very hood like. I had my friend call in to order a cake and she gave my friend a quote for $150 for 30 people $5 per person. Then I called AND she's says it's $180 same EXACT cake for 30 people. Then I told her how she gave my friend a better quote then she tried to change up the story and say that she was charging me for the cake topper which was a simple topper of a tiny baby. Then I asked her why she wasn't charging my friend 30 for the cake topper. When she realized she got caught giving me and my friend two different quote for same exact order and cake, she decided to completely ignore me and my calls. How unprofessional! !!! Then my friend called her and the baker lady decided to do it for 150. So when my friend called her back few minutes later, after deciding on the filling for me, the baker lady says she can't take the order anymore because she took an order from some else who apparently paid more for their order. I cannot believe how unprofessional she was to reject our order when we spend 2 days trying to get this cake ordered last minute she decides to not take our order over someone else's order.
