I'm really disappointed with this bakery class. I paid $350 and traveled almost 2 hours with…read moretraffic, expecting to actually learn new skills, but it was not worth it at all. The only thing they taught was how to make basic cake bread, which I already knew how to do. When I asked about learning something more advanced, like tres leches cake, I was told that would be covered in the next class--which costs another $350. The space where the class was held was extremely small and uncomfortably hot, and they didn't even offer something as simple as a glass of water. On top of that, they kept trying to sell their own buttercream and other products instead of focusing on teaching. It felt more like a sales pitch than a class. What frustrated me the most was that when it came time to decorate the cake, the instructor just did it for us instead of actually teaching us how to do it ourselves. That completely defeats the purpose of taking a class. This was a waste of time and money. I would not recommend it to anyone looking to genuinely learn baking skills.

Is in the middle of a very busy ave, near the subway. Teacher are amazing. Super friendly, and they have a lot of patient, they let you be creative but at the same time they guide you, and give you constructive critique. While on class you will have a main instructor and and one walking around and helping. They also sell amazing cakes and cupcakes. Big variety of classes from fondant, buttercream, to Macaron and different bakers and instructors /chefs coming to give classes. They offer private classes and master classes with around of a maximum of 15 students. Classes are in Spanish only. I will definitely recommend. They give a lot of tips for future business owner or for people like me that do it as a hobby. I did the master class that is a package of 4 classes. And also a private class to bake a birthday cake for the hubby.

I would never recommend Young Chefs Academy for children with special needs!!!…read moreBecause I work with special needs kids and I took one of my clients to Young Chefs Academy and she was bullied by another student more then once in class She had been going to this school for two years and when I tried to talk to Jason about having a sit down conversation with the other child and her parents he informed me that I couldn't have a conversation with the parents and that I had to deal with the matter outside on the street and not on his premises Then my special needs client was kicked out of Young Chefs Academy Because I complained about the bullying!

You can join membership, I think around $140 a month to get 30 % off each class and get advance reservations. Non member pays $50 each 90 min class. Register and reserve online or call the place to reserve. I found Groupon $90 for two classes for one child, limitation includes you can't reserve more than 2 weeks in advance. Called to the place and Jason returned my call. Reserved over the phone no problem. Queens Blvd is very difficult to park. Luckily there's a bus stop in front of the store and I did a quick drop off. Jason specified it is a drop off class, so parents can't observe. I was allowed to go down where the class was during the last 10 min. Instructor chef Nicole was very friendly and told me how my kids do. They made dumplings, blanch veggies, noodles and biscuits. Kids were divided into small groups to cook different recipes. At the end there's the tasting where I joined. They will also give you the recipes to take home. Kids have tons of fun and would very much come back again. Overall, definitely recommend. NY only has one young chef so far. They are opening another one at Garden City but don't know when. It said coming soon on website.

She and her husband warmly welcomed us into their home and led us to a beautifully decorated table of what was described as a "welcome snack," but was actually a delicious feast in itself. There was Uzbek dried fruits, nuts, both sweet and savory pastries, and hot green tea. I loved the Uzbek raisins, which are bigger and juicier and just better than any raisins I've ever had! As we ate, Damira shared photos and stories of her family's life in Samarkand, an ancient city in Uzbekistan that lies on the silk road. Once we were all well-acquainted and nourished, we headed to the kitchen to cook the main feast. On the menu were homemade individual breads, spinach stuffed pastries, a spring cabbage salad, a cucumber potato salad, and a lamb stew. Damira was such a great teacher, demonstrating techniques before having us actively participate in the prep, cooking, and serving of each dish. She timed everything perfectly so that we had breaks and ate basically the entire afternoon, while continuing to engage us in stories of her home and culture. When we sat down for the final meal, the delicious food was somehow made even better from the meaningful connection we all shared while cooking it. The four and a half hour class flew by and while I didn't want to leave, I was very happy when we were each sent home with enough leftovers to last another two meals.

Tara recreated our wedding menu from the place card alone, it was French theamed and multi course, including three different entrees (we ate well!) and along with her server Suzette they made our evening. Friendly, timely, amazing food, low pressure, cleaned everything up behind them, played with the dog! They did everything for us that night so all we had to do was roll into bed after they left! She created the most beautiful five course meal filled with everything we love. The octopus was one of the best ones we ever had. The salad was a perfect light touch and all with seasonal vegetables from her garden. Then we got into the pastas. Both homemade, and both out of this world. We finished our dinner with her Chilean Sea-bass, that could quite honestly be the best one we will ever have. On top of chefs Taras cooking skills, she also was amazing company, and opened up her home/kitchen as if we were apart of the family! Thank you Chef Tara for making our anniversary one to remember. We both look forward to the next time we get to enjoy your company, and your food that makes my mouth water just thinking about!

I attended Thai, Thai, Thai with a friend and we had a great time. The food was delicious, easy-to-make and something I could remember how to make at home. But, I probably won't because I don't cook... ever :) That's why I came to MOPAC - they basically do it for me. I subtracted one star for three reasons: 1. There were some games involved that not everyone enjoyed. I really loved them because I'm an outgoing and particularly loud person. However, it was obvious that a few chefs were uncomfortable. I say just stick to the cooking. 2. I wish we made a dessert. We made an appetizer and an entree, but no dessert. I wouldn't have minded paying a few extra bucks for the event to include a dessert as well. We certainly would have had enough time if we hadn't played the games. 3. Manhattanites - watch out when you get off the subway. I've never been to this neighborhood before and my first thought was just, "where the F am I?!" There's no signage outside, so be sure to look for the big black door at 47 Thames. If MOPAC was in Manhattan, it'd be awesome.

Our group was a really fun group I must say! The food was great..and even though I consider myself a great cook (and a food television addict)..I STILL learned a some cooking techniques that I hadn't used before. You have your own cooking station, but you are sitting in a "group" style set up. You are assigned your own set of tools and food portions at your station and the place is very clean. Another review mentioned that there was no wine, but you can bring your own if you choose to. I think someone brought a bottle of rum that they shared with the whole group when I went...I definitely had rum and coke that night. It's definitely a great experience!

However, we opted for the Cheesecake, because we were able to add fresh strawberries (and whipped cream) on top! I'm not a fan of whipped cream, so I avoided that, but everyone seemed to enjoy. It had a good creamy texture and was not too sweet. The strawberries were indeed fresh. The pound cake was soft and airy. The vanilla flavor comes through. The tiramisu cake was absolutely delicious, honestly one of the best I've ever had. I didn't even know you could customize a tiramisu cake since it's usually served the traditional way, but they made it exactly how I wanted. As someone who loves tiramisu, this really stood out. I also ordered a strawberry shortcake, and it was just as impressive. The buttercream was so good , light, flavorful, and not overly sweet. Everyone loved it, and there wasn't a single slice left. The owner's son (I believe) was super helpful, he really takes the time to understand what you want and brings it to life perfectly. I've also tried their croissants, which are huge and delicious, and the hero bread is excellent too. Just a heads-up: they only accept cash.I'll definitely be ordering all my cakes from here moving forward!
