Today is my best friend's first born son's 15th birthday. After the zoom birthday session, her husband decided to send us cake via delivery. So here I am, trying out a bakery for the first time via UberEats. This red velvet cake roll was beautifully packaged, I like the box they chose for a single slice. The appearance is cute and pretty upon sight. The cake itself, freaking delicious; It's soft and moisture, topped with this nice frothy whipped cream, paired together with this savory and thick cream cheese filling. And because both of these things are white, it was a very pleasant surprise and interesting contrast for my tastebuds. Con: The staples they used to seal the paper bag was so sharp, it cut my index finger and made it bleed as soon as I opened it. Please remedy this, opening cake shouldn't hurt me more than the Pifzer vaccine...... * awkward smile....* UberEats over charges like no other app..... ridiculous. I was going to write this review last night but I got tired and knocked out. Welp, better late than never. First things first, these past few days, I have been OBSESSED with cake. Craving doesn't even begin to describe it. So, my sister (being the amazing person she is) bought me cake. I love you, sis! Anyways, I digress. ** [ SHERO'S STRAWBERRY PANNA COTTA ] | 3.7/5.0 This is my first time trying panna cotta. I was told by my friend that panna cotta is yogurt, so I was always under the impression that it was exactly that. PANNA COTTA IS NOT YOGURT. Panna cotta means 'cooked cream' in Italian and it is traditionally an Italian dessert made with cream, sugar, vanilla, and gelatin. I don't know what Shero makes it with, but it is AMAZING! Rich and silky, with a custard-like consistency, this baby will just MELT in your mouth. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars, or even 4 for that matter, is because I really dislike the red "strawberry" gelatin layer on top of the panna cotta. At best, it tastes like bitter cherry cough syrup (no, it does not even taste like strawberry). At worst, it is the MOST ARTIFICIAL cherry cough syrup I've ever had. ** [ RED VELVET CAKE ] | 4.3/5.0 SO INSTAGRAMMABLE! This red velvet Swiss cake roll, in and of itself, is a piece of art. The red and white color combination looks amazing together and even the dollop of cream on top looks cute lol. I definitely agree with other Yelpers: Shero's cakes are NOT overly sweet, which suits my tastes perfectly. If I had to go into greater detail, the red velvet cake base was more THICK and HEAVY, than light and fluffy, but it pairs really nicely with the airy salted cream cheese flavored cream in the middle (can't be seen in the picture but it's underneath the dollop of fresh cream). Again, not full stars, mainly because the salted cream cheese does kind of overpower the fresh cream and the red velvet cake base. Otherwise, really good! ** [ HAZELNUT CHOCOLATE CAKE ] | 4.8/5.0 MY BABY! I wish I knew about this Swiss cake roll MUCH MUCH SOONER! Imagine living 20 years of your life not having had this cake. Oh wait, that's exactly me :| This Swiss cake roll is BY FAR THE BEST and MY FAVORITE out of EVERYTHING I've tried so far. Open that little plastic container and the sweet, sinful aroma of chocolate goodness just wafts through the air. Wow. Rich and moist chocolate cake base paired with a light and airy chocolate cream. Definitely Devil's food cake. SO SO CLOSE to receiving full stars! My only complaint is the crushed hazelnuts on the outside top layer of the roll. There was a discernible hint of bitterness, possibly because the hazelnut skins were not removed entirely? ** [ DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE ] | 2.5/5.0 I have yet to try this, so I can't comment on it right now. Will update later. But, if it's anything like the Hazelnut Chocolate Cake, it MUST be good. Edit: Okay, I got my hopes up. I just tried the brownies and tbh I'm kinda disappointed. I will admit I don't know much about storing brownies, and because I did eat this pretty late, I stored it in the fridge, even though it was packaged with an air-tight seal. There's NOTHING memorable about these brownies. Low-moisture, bordering dry in fact, all I could think about while eating these brownies was LET'S GET THIS OVER WITH! I couldn't even tell what the light brown things on top were. ** [ UPDATE ] [ STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE SLICE ] | 3.0/5.0 I read in another Yelper's review that Shero's Strawberry Shortcake is "the best" and "so perfect" so I felt I HAD to come back and give it a try. I have to say I am a bit let down. This cake falls short of expectations. I LOVE strawberries and while THIS IS A GOOD CAKE, it's definitely NOT the best strawberry shortcake I've ever had. Yes, it's light and airy, but that's pretty much it. There's NOTHING noteworthy about this cake to set it apart from its peers. Also, I do strongly believe that the strawberries in a Strawberry Shortcake should be sweet, but the strawberries in this cake WERE NOT sweet and were pretty BLAND instead. ** [ JAPANESE CHEESECAKE ] | 3.6/5.0 This is my first time trying Japanese cheesecake. I will admit I typically DO NOT enjoy the traditional New York-style cheesecake, as it is too much of a filling to crust ratio, so there is a SLIGHT bit of bias here. Just simply looking at this Japanese cheesecake though, you can tell it's different. Unlike the traditional New York-style cheesecake, this cake is MORE FLUFFY with a sponge-like texture. It's still rich and moist, but a whole lot LESS creamy. Overall, I really enjoyed it. ** [ MATCHA PUFF ] | 4.1/5.0 DELICIOUS! The sweet matcha cream interior contrasts nicely with the bitter exterior. It's kind of messy to eat though--the cream literally exploded out the bottom. Running low on character count. We found them on seamless and saw they they do custom wedding cake- however the cake options on the site were too big for a small covid wedding. We called them on Sunday and they were able to deliver a custom cake ( smaller 6/8 inches cake vs the 8/10 inch on the site) on Tuesday. I was a little worried because I wasn't sure how well a 2 tier cake will travel from flushing but the process exceeded expectations! The delivery person was very careful and did a no contact drop off outside our apartment door. It was gorgeous- the red carnations has gold flecks and the ring topper will def go into scrapbook ! Not only did she waste my time, but now I have to scramble to find another bakery (which isn't too difficult but all parents know that time is precious!) My wife and I got our wedding cake from Shero cakes and it was really dang good! The design was very pretty as we also didn't have a lot of requirements for them to design, so for them it was fairly easy for them. They did ask some basic questions in regards to the design - flowers or any other particular design, etc. Taking their suggestions on what would look elegant and taste great we went with a 3 tiered cake each with a different flavor. I did insist on the middle flavor being lychee. They said that they could do it and it wouldn't be an extra charge. Delivery fee was added since we had it delivered to the venue we had and that was that. The cake total wasn't bad and came in just on budget for our small wedding. We had gotten our own cake topper and delivered that to them so they could assemble it on the cake appropriately. On the day of our wedding, the cake was beautiful. The topper was added in a beautiful way that it was secure to the top of the cake. I would definitely come back to them for another cake. read more

The only thing that i can point out is that the cake toppers are not edible, but at-least for us that was a minor issue. So - actually ended up getting something from Shero by accident (on my boyfriend's part, so blame him). I reside in Brooklyn and my boyfriend resides in Queens, I told him I wanted a lemon tart (or any fruit tart) and/or strawberry short cake. The boyfriend decided to look up something around Brooklyn to uber it my way, only to have mistaken ordered from Shero cakes. It showed up when it looked up Brooklyn shops in one of the food apps. It's surprising that they even deliver it all the way to Brooklyn since it's pretty far out. It could be a good or a bad thing; meaning that they are willing to deliver it out so far and believe was told they deliver it themselves (people from the store?) The bad thing was that the time frame given was way passed what was stated. It actually took about 2-3 hours, yes I get it's far but I've driven from Brooklyn to Queens and it doesn't take that long. If they stated that it would take that long, then that's upfront and transparent. If the person still wants to make that order, fine. I also felt bad that it took that long to deliver just two things, if it was more - it would have been worth it for them, on their end. This is the reason that it's one less star. Since they did text that they were going to be late but again, I would have preferred it if they saw that they were going to deliver it to Brooklyn area and that they let me (or boyfriend) know that it would take time and if we agreed, that's on us. BUT! let's get to the cakes. The boyfriend got me a strawberry shortcake and a Japanese cheesecake. Despite the long wait of the delivery, the cakes were still intact! That's greatly appreciated. The strawberry shortcake was very good! I liked it that it wasn't dry or overly sweet. The strawberry slices in between the two sponge cakes were fresh and crisp. I like that there's a lot (not overload) fresh cream but again, it's very light and fluffy that it doesn't matter since it's not too overly sweet. I think it's prefect and no guilt here! on my end anyways. The Japanese cheesecake was decent, it wasn't as light and fluffy as I thought it would be from the other jap. cheescakes I had in the past. It's a little denser but not so much that it's like the American cheesecake. But this the same, was not overly sweet. I would come again for the strawberry short cake and would def try out their other items. read more

Real, authentic review here: I got a cake from this place and I was not very happy with the look and the taste of it. Look: sent them a picture of the style I wanted and the color came out to be too light and the decorative colors were just not on point, even though the style is still alike compared to the one I sent them, but with all the weird/odd colors it just felt off to me. ( it's still legit, but not as what I expected) Taste: There is no balance between the sponge cake and the cream. The sponge cake itself it's just mediocre. The fruits inside wasn't juicy. They also put too much (way too much) cream in the cake and the cream that they used for the original flavor that I ordered didn't taste good. (Nothing is special) Price: highly priced. I paid 85$ for a 6inch cake. I'm fine with paying more if and only if the cake is worth it, but obviously it is not. Suggestion: I don't recommend this place. Sum it up: overall, I was not pleased with the purchase. I think whoever made my cake should really put his/her heart into making the cake. Make yourself feel proud of your product/cake.
