Mr Bear Japenese Cheesecake in New Your City, we just came back k from Oasaka Japan in October and had the World Famous Rikuro's Cheesecake which I thought was fabulous. Mr Bear had some fancy packaging and even I nice stamp of a Bear, but fell short of the Japenese Osaka version. Location in Flushing was nice, but nice to have it here read more

If you like the Japanese style cheesecake - this is a close version of it, nothing is ever the same as the ones in Japan itself but this is good for when the craving hits. Got the coconut cream cheesecake which was delicious but be warned - the cream is delicate and does not withstand travel over 15-30 mins. (78degree weather with car transportation) This comes with a knife and spoon. Highly recommend you bring an insulated bag and some frozen peas to transport the cheesecake home. My cake got home within 30 minutes and was melting so had to refrigerate before eating. This is a take out only joint with no seating. The tiramisu drink was a nice pre-dessert dessert drink though I really prefer a nice cup of espresso/cappuccino with the cake. read more

I am addicted to Mr Bear!!!!! It was crazy packed on Saturday here but for great reasons. It's too delicious not to buy. My favorite part: not too sweet and doesn't make me feel fatigue after eating! The texture is like an airy mousse but sponge cake cheesecake. I have no idea how to explain, you just need to try it!!! Their cakes starts at $19.99 and up depending on other flavors or limited time flavors. We got the coconut lava and ube taro! The ube taro was our favorite because you can taste it even though it was light. The coconut is our go to, we always buy this flavor! When I went, there were free samples on their counter so hopefully you can try a little piece before purchasing a whole cake! read more

Ok, my ube was so good, but a tragedy happened... I left most of the cheesecake in the back of my car and completely forgot about it for several days. I am SO ASHAMED of this. I came back and confessed everything to the staff behind the counter. I also had to come back with a few fellow Elites and show them how wonderful this spot was. Everyone was so nice about my mishap. I ended up getting a coconut cheesecake this time around, and I am so sorry, but I think it was better than the ube. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good, and the mousse on top was heavenly. The crème brûlée was just ok, but you don't need it with this cheesecake. Also, with all the bears decorating the spot and bringing all the fun... how can you not love this place? read more

Japanese- style cotton cheese cake. Have tried plain and chocolate lava flavors. Cakes are very light and fluffy, less sugar than I personally prefer but perfect for those looking to have a great dessert and not be knocked down by sugar. Street parking is difficult but if you can snag it, definitely drop into Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings too, and complete dinner!!!! read more

My friend got me Mr. Bear cheesecakes for my birthday. WOW LUCKY ME. The packaging is adorable .. very Hermes luxury vibe. The two boxes were perfectly fit in a bag with handles. They also came with prepackaged serving utensils. Just perfect. The cheesecakes themselves were to die for. I'm still thinking about the Coconut one. It has a lava inner so it's very moist and fluffy. It's not too much coconut flavor either..just right. The texture for the classic cheesecake was also so good. Highly recommend!! read more

If you're in the mood for cheesecake but specifically Japanese Cotton Cheese Cake this is the place to get it. Mr Bear is located in Flushing. I got an order of the signature original cheesecake though there are other varieties of flavors. And the tart which reminds me of flan but just as delicious. I recommend stopping here if you're close by. read more

The first time I came here, it was opening day, and the wait for a cheesecake was over 3 hours. The line has gotten considerably shorter since then, but the cheesecakes are just as delicious. I've tried a few flavors thus far, and they are all amazing. I love how fluffy and airy they are, moreover, they are extremely addictive. The store itself is super adorable with teddy bears. The lines are super fast and efficient. Highly recommend! read more

Even though Mr Bear is a fluffy cheesecake bakery, my favorite menu item is their creme brûlées. They aren't overly sweet and are buy one get one half off. If you wanted to try their cheesecakes I would recommend their coconut lava flavor, but put it in the fridge for a few hours. To me, it tastes better when it's cold. I would pass on the other flavors as they aren't anything special. Service was quick and if you are a student you can get 10% all their menu items. read more

Absolutely one of the best cotton cheesecakes i have had. The cheesecake was still warm when I got home after am hour. We got the Uber flavor and I loved it. The Uber flavor was very prominent. I do like the fact that when I eat their cheesecake, it does not leave like a weird sensation on my teeth like most cotton/Japanese cheesecakes from other stores. Will definitely come back to try other flavors. read more

Cute Japanese type cheesecake shop, though they call it cotton cheesecake. They have different flavors and free samples at the counter. I got the original one. The packaging is very cute and they include a knife and spoon. The cake is very light and fluffy. There isn't a strong cheese flavor though and it is quite moist. Refrigeration doesn't seem to change the texture. Compared with Keki's cheesecake, this one is more wet. Not sure which one I like better. read more

Been here twice now, first time I got the chocolate cake and it was so good. Fluffy and soft. I ate it around the bear picture on the cake haha. They give out samples which is nice because it was my first time that's time. I came back second time because it was delicious first time. Reminds me of la cheesecake in college point. Second time I got the ube cake. It didn't have the bear print on it:( tasted like real ube/sweet potato not artificial kind. I still like the chocolate one better. I want to try the strawberry one but they are always out of it Will try original one next time. I highly recommend for first timers! Love their packaging too. I always walked by this place and got the free samples outside the shop when in Flushing, but I never really got anything. I recently got this lava cheesecake. I can say that it was really good, nice, and fluffy. I love the lava on top, also chocolate, yum. But is it worth the price for a 6-inch cheesecake? not really. A cute Japanese cheesecake place with decadent souflee pancakes. Lots of options to choose from. Inside is relatively small, with one table a couple chairs, exterior has plush teddy bears hung up. First things first, the decor throughout the whole store is extremely cute!! Definitely worth having a quick little photo shoot. Not only is the store extremely cute but the cheesecakes are cute as well. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of our cheese cake but it had a little bear stamped onto it and very fluffy. I am not a huge fan of cheesecake so I was a little reluctant to try it . However, this cheesecake was super light and the flavor of cream cheese was not over powering. Another thing that we went to try and what actually caught my eye to stop by was a new item we had which I believe was a Sweet Mochi Donut (don't quote me on this). The item was lightly sweet and a rice cake texture (a little tougher than mochi) and a hard/crunchy exterior. It did catch me a little bit off guard because it was served cold but it is definitely something that I would get again if I am looking for something light to hold me over. The cashier was also super patient with us while we were trying to decide what to order and tasting the free samples they had laid out of their cheesecake. Overall, my experience was super quick and simple and I will definitely be back if I need to pick up gift for a fellow foodie (the packaging is super aesthetically pleasing). read more

I am not entirely sure what the hype is about these cheesecakes, but a friend brought one of their cotton style cheesecake over and to me it didn't have any sweetness, at all! I usually feel like "not too sweet" is a competent for desserts but this time it was really "not sweet at all". The texture was soft and it had a nice egginess and delicate flavor but I guess I was expecting something more. Everyone else who tried it agreed. On the positive note, the packaging is gorgeous and luxe and would make a nice gift. read more

Heard really good things about the cheesecake here and was intrigued by the packaging so I came by on a weekend night to grab one. Opted for the original flavor and it was pretty good. It was soft when eaten at room temperature but I actually prefer when it's been in the fridge. Texture is less fluffy but flavor is more cheesy. It is a bit expensive for the size but I think that's part of the packaging gimmick. Heard mediocre things about the drinks so didn't opt for one even tho they were advertising BOGO half off drinks. I would say come try it if you're in the area but it's not worth traveling far distances for this. read more

There were lines out the door each time I passed by so I finally had a chance to run in when it was less crowded. So much to see (the bear plushie decor on the walls), the modern cushion benches as you wait and take selfies of the wall, and the general cafe space. There's a digital menu and a menu board. At the time, there was a buy one drink, get the second for a $1 promo so I totally took advantage of that. I enjoyed my Mr. Bear lemonade. Onto the cakes... Which is what you smell walking in. Everything looked so tasty and fluffy. These are "cotton cheesecakes" as advertised. We bought the strawberry cake. It was very soft and moist. They even gave it to us warm (but by the time I brought it to my destination, it wasn't). No matter, it still tasted really good. We shall return to try the classic and the chocolate. read more

"Crazy Taro Cake": $24.99 6inch cake in diameter (2" height) Tasted more like a pound cake. Very light in flavour. Not sweet at all comparable to most Asian cakes. Non-Asian Americans would definitely find this tasteless. The Rou Song (Pork Floss) kind of compliment the cake but definitely not the sesame seeds added to it. Got a taro cake to go. The whole cake cost around $27, and my friend split to go. It uniquely has pork floss on top, with a mild cream flavor.. I wasn't sure where the taro flavor was. The cake itself was very light, but nothing outstanding about this cake other than the interesting texture of the pork floss. Other than this cake, the workers were very nice. Stopped by Mr. Bear on the last day during the opening weekend for the promotion of first 100 customers to buy a whole cotton cheesecake would get a signature teddy bear (that looks like the mascot). Yes, the plushie attracted me to the cake. Got there around 10am and there was nobody in sight, so I was the 1st person in line. Shortly after, a crowd of people started to form behind me. And by 10:30am, there were about 40 people (mostly parents and guys getting the plushie for their kids and/or girlfriends). Conveniently located around the corner from the 7 train. Ambiance wise is a bright orange themed storefront with a bear as the signature mascot. Additionally, there're various sizes and colors of teddy bears on the wall and sitting on chairs inside the small store. Customers then wait for their turn to order and pay w/ either cash or card. There're original, strawberry and chocolate cheesecake flavors. They also have boba milk teas, slushies, fruit teas, lattes, and other coffee-based beverages on the menu. Staff advertises that the cheesecake will taste its best after being refrigerated for 2-3 hours, I didn't taste it until 6-7 hours later. Despite what other Yelpers have mentioned about the texture being too dense + tastes very eggy from eating it right away + doesn't have that much cheese flavor and not as fluffy as a real Japanese cheesecake, my thought is that: 1) I like how it is even way less sweet than other Japanese cheesecakes + 2) The tint of cheese only starts coming out bite by bite after being put in the fridge for few hours. During the promotional grand opening weekend, the store was also handing out a free beverage of apple jasmine tea when customers made a purchase of the whole cheesecake. It was refreshing and not that sweet but not exactly the most memorable drink in my opinion. Since one small cheesecake costs $17.99 ($19.59 after tax), this will only be an occasional treat for myself once in a while. If you're mostly into the heavy cheese flavor, then this is probably not for you. If you're usually into very sweet cakes/desserts, then this is definitely not for you either! Happy that I got to taste the cheesecake and apple jasmine tea plus secure my teddy bear as being the first person in line though! Now, it's up to you to decide whether it's worth it or not! read more

Visiting from out of town and they just so happened to be recently opened! Exciting! But perhaps, overrated? There was a line when we entered, however it moved fairly quickly. We ordered the Cotton Cheesecake to share, it was approximately $20 after tax. The wait after offering was about ten minutes. There is no indoor seating, so we took it back to our hotel to eat. Honestly, was it good? Sure, but I wasn't too crazy about it. It's fluffy, airy, and it almost has an eggy flavor to it rather than cheesecake. It's not too sweet, perfect for an Asian tastebud lol. Would I visit again? Probably not, but worth a try! The staff was kind, the wait wasn't terrible, and the interior was super cute for a photo op! read more

Cotton cheesecake shop - a good spot to pick up a cake for a gift or party. The cheesecake has a nice pillowy texture, vs. an American style cheesecake that is rich and dense. Cute new place. The wall is lined with bears in reference to the store name Mr. Bear. Attended the grand opening weekend. First 100 customers receive a free bear. Didn't think I would get one though, I was number 88. Thank you Mr. Bear for the gift. Cotton Cheesecake is a bit denser than Uncle Tetsu though it isn't sweet, which is perfect. Size-wise it's like a small cake for $18 (under $20 if you include tax). If you are going for cute, this is for you. If you are going for # of people, this might be good for 4-6 people depending on you cut the cake. It comes with a knife that double as a cake holder and a spoon. Another promotional item was a free drink during opening weekend - 1 apple Jasmine. It was a bit sweet for me though it's refreshing. There is another promotion: with your receipt, you can get a discount at the hot pot next door. I don't know how long that promotion will be available for. Have to try their Jasmine Dream milk tea next time. read more

If you're able to snag one of the few seats here that isn't occupied by a life-sized teddy bear, this new, slightly gaudy bakery offers one of the more indulgent means of concluding a Flushing food tour. There's one item on the menu, which is Japanese cheesecake, served in various forms. Here, the preparation is airy but with substance, and 2 people finishing off a full cheesecake is ambitious but not totally inconceivable. There's been a lot of buzz around flushing recently and it has all to do with these fluffy cheesecakes and floral teas. Let me be the bearer of bad news first. There are WAY too many floral teas shops: tea scholars, Molly, Mr.bear, Artisan, CoCo, YuanYang. Surprisingly, they are all within a 1-2 minute walking distance from one another. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my peach oolong tea but these new shops need some originality to set them apart. Now let's talk about the fluffy cheesecakes. There are multiple stalls selling these cheesecakes, with another one being in the golden mall. To me, they all taste the same. The ambiance is the only part that sets this place apart. With the bear decorations and beautiful orange bags, this place has a beautiful orange aesthetic. read more

Stumbled across this place while wandering Flushing and was immediately mesmerized by the sight of giant orange teddy bears staring out the window like they were personally inviting me in. Obviously, I had to go. The vibe inside was kind of slay. Bears everywhere -- pinned to the walls -- definitely a cute if you're into playful aesthetics. The area itself isn't very big. Service was surprisingly fast, especially considering how new the spot is. Bonus: they had a BOGO deal where if you buy one drink, the second is just $1 -- yes please. They were also doing a BOGO free deal on crème brûlée, so I had to try that too. * Egg Pudding Latte ($6.25) I ordered this out of pure curiosity -- I mean, egg pudding in a latte? Never had it. It tasted like a pretty standard latte with a subtle twist, not super sweet (which I liked), though my sisters weren't fans of the slight bitterness. If you're into more mellow, coffee-forward drinks, it's worth a try. Rating: 3/5 * Strawberry Vienna Einspanner Latte ($6.05) No clue what "Einspanner" meant, but it had strawberry in the name and I was in the mood. This one had a nice balance -- not too sweet, still creamy -- and got the seal of approval from most of my sisters. I'll rate this a 4/5. * Creme Brulee ($3.99) This was just okay. It had the creamy texture, but I was seriously missing the caramelized hard top. If you're just craving something custardy, it'll do -- but don't expect a crackly spoon moment. 2.5/5. Would I go again? Yeah, for the vibes, the deals, and the bears. Just don't go in expecting the world's best crème brûlée -- go for the drinks, the atmosphere, and a solid little hangout spot in the middle of Flushing chaos. read more

Let's start by saying that this is not a typical cheesecake, so don't come here looking for what you consider a New York style cheesecake. Texturally, Asian cheesecakes are generally more light and airy. However, this cake lacks any cheese flavor while being way too moist. My friends called it a wet mush.
