I am addicted to Mr Bear!!!!! It was crazy packed on Saturday here but for great reasons. It's too delicious not to buy. My favorite part: not too sweet and doesn't make me feel fatigue after eating! The texture is like an airy mousse but sponge cake cheesecake. I have no idea how to explain, you just need to try it!!! The ube taro was our favorite because you can taste it even though it was light. The coconut is our go to, we always buy this flavor! "Crazy Taro Cake": $24.99 6inch cake in diameter (2" height) Tasted more like a pound cake. Very light in flavour. Not sweet at all comparable to most Asian cakes. Non-Asian Americans would definitely find this tasteless. The Rou Song (Pork Floss) kind of compliment the cake but definitely not the sesame seeds added to it. I got an order of the signature original cheesecake though there are other varieties of flavors. And the tart which reminds me of flan but just as delicious. Ok, my ube was so good, but a tragedy happened... I left most of the cheesecake in the back of my car and completely forgot about it for several days. I am SO ASHAMED of this. I came back and confessed everything to the staff behind the counter. I also had to come back with a few fellow Elites and show them how wonderful this spot was. Everyone was so nice about my mishap. Cute Japanese type cheesecake shop, though they call it cotton cheesecake. They have different flavors and free samples at the counter. I got the original one. The packaging is very cute and they include a knife and spoon. The cake is very light and fluffy. There isn't a strong cheese flavor though and it is quite moist. First things first, the decor throughout the whole store is extremely cute!! Definitely worth having a quick little photo shoot. Not only is the store extremely cute but the cheesecakes are cute as well. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of our cheese cake but it had a little bear stamped onto it and very fluffy. I am not a huge fan of cheesecake so I was a little reluctant to try it . However, this cheesecake was super light and the flavor of cream cheese was not over powering. Another thing that we went to try and what actually caught my eye to stop by was a new item we had which I believe was a Sweet Mochi Donut (don't quote me on this). The item was lightly sweet and a rice cake texture (a little tougher than mochi) and a hard/crunchy exterior. It did catch me a little bit off guard because it was served cold but it is definitely something that I would get again if I am looking for something light to hold me over. The cashier was also super patient with us while we were trying to decide what to order and tasting the free samples they had laid out of their cheesecake. I am not entirely sure what the hype is about these cheesecakes, but a friend brought one of their cotton style cheesecake over and to me it didn't have any sweetness, at all! I usually feel like "not too sweet" is a competent for desserts but this time it was really "not sweet at all". There were lines out the door each time I passed by so I finally had a chance to run in when it was less crowded. So much to see (the bear plushie decor on the walls), the modern cushion benches as you wait and take selfies of the wall, and the general cafe space. There's a digital menu and a menu board. Stopped by Mr. Bear on the last day during the opening weekend for the promotion of first 100 customers to buy a whole cotton cheesecake would get a signature teddy bear (that looks like the mascot). Yes, the plushie attracted me to the cake. Got there around 10am and there was nobody in sight, so I was the 1st person in line. Shortly after, a crowd of people started to form behind me. And by 10:30am, there were about 40 people (mostly parents and guys getting the plushie for their kids and/or girlfriends). Conveniently located around the corner from the 7 train. Ambiance wise is a bright orange themed storefront with a bear as the signature mascot. Additionally, there're various sizes and colors of teddy bears on the wall and sitting on chairs inside the small store. Customers then wait for their turn to order and pay w/ either cash or card. There're original, strawberry and chocolate cheesecake flavors. They also have boba milk teas, slushies, fruit teas, lattes, and other coffee-based beverages on the menu. Staff advertises that the cheesecake will taste its best after being refrigerated for 2-3 hours, I didn't taste it until 6-7 hours later. Despite what other Yelpers have mentioned about the texture being too dense + tastes very eggy from eating it right away + doesn't have that much cheese flavor and not as fluffy as a real Japanese cheesecake, my thought is that: 1) I like how it is even way less sweet than other Japanese cheesecakes + 2) The tint of cheese only starts coming out bite by bite after being put in the fridge for few hours. During the promotional grand opening weekend, the store was also handing out a free beverage of apple jasmine tea when customers made a purchase of the whole cheesecake. It was refreshing and not that sweet but not exactly the most memorable drink in my opinion. Since one small cheesecake costs $17.99 ($19.59 after tax), this will only be an occasional treat for myself once in a while. If you're mostly into the heavy cheese flavor, then this is probably not for you. If you're usually into very sweet cakes/desserts, then this is definitely not for you either! Happy that I got to taste the cheesecake and apple jasmine tea plus secure my teddy bear as being the first person in line though! Size-wise it's like a small cake for $18 (under $20 if you include tax). If you are going for cute, this is for you. If you are going for # of people, this might be good for 4-6 people depending on you cut the cake. It comes with a knife that double as a cake holder and a spoon. Another promotional item was a free drink during opening weekend - 1 apple Jasmine. It was a bit sweet for me though it's refreshing. There is another promotion: with your receipt, you can get a discount at the hot pot next door. I don't know how long that promotion will be available for. There are WAY too many floral teas shops: tea scholars, Molly, Mr.bear, Artisan, CoCo, YuanYang. Surprisingly, they are all within a 1-2 minute walking distance from one another.
