    Roast pork bun and coffee.
    Emm C.

Two coffees and a roast pork bun for less than a 2 coffees at Starbucks. I'll take this place any day. Some may think the coffee is weak but I like it smooth like this w no sugar. This is one of a few dwindling chinese or canto bakeries. When I was younger I could down pineapples buns double-fisted but now I just watch more fit people order them. Coffee for me, bun for me pops. Service varies. When I guess the right dialect to use and it matches my server they're nice. When I don't, I get a mean look and the same coffee but often w a side eye of disdain. Average ambiance for a bakery: Get in and get out. This ain't a place to loiter and take up seats for hours. It's small w 3 of the tiniest lowest tables you ll ever see.

Cute shop, sweet workers, milk tea and pastry were just okay. This was my first time stopping in Flushing, Queens. In walking by, I just had to stop inside this adorable shop. The walls are lined with pastries that I'm sure are yummy, but I had a taste for something else. I ordered a milk tea that was way too sweet. There was so much syrup and it was impossible to finish. I attached a photo. Then, I ordered the "tom & jerry" cheesecake which is completely adorable and artistic in design, but underwhelming to taste. It didn't really taste like cheesecake. I attached a photo of this as well. Also, they are a "cash only" business. So you either have to have cash or zelle, which I found inconvenient.

I purchased a wheat bread with healthy oats and seed as toppings. The bread is pretty soft, but not sure if the oats as topping make sense. The flavor of the bread is decent. The bakery had a lot of variety.

Amazing customer service. Great quality baked goods. I purchased a cake and some baked items for my sister-in-law's birthday. The total came up to $44. This included an 8in rainbow cake and various bakery items. Will be going back.

I love going to this bakery because they have a lot of items that you don't find in other chinese bakeries. Things like: blueberry walnut chocolate bread (one of my faves), mexican pineapple bun, chocolate pineapple bun (has a nice crust of sugar over the top) and in-season things like for Chinese New Year they were selling peach longevity buns with lotus paste and New Year themed items that were artfully decorated and so cute! However, they do lack sometimes the things that you might go to a chinese bakery for - for that, you may be better off going to Fay Da or something else. They do have pineapple buns though which were just fine (mine was a little dry unfortuantely) Come here and pick up an item you wouldn't think existed in a chinese bakery! The novelty items seem to have better quality than their regular bakery items sometimes. They also have choux buns and other cool things in the display case at the cash register so don't forget to look there. Wishing this place all the success!

If you frequent Flushing, then it's no surprise to find a bunch of different Chinese bakery options. There are several chains that have been around for quite a while and are staples. Rainbow Bakery is a much more recent addition but now even has 2 locations (this spot opened up first) in Flushing. The shop is pretty unassuming from the front since there are so many stores next to each other on this street but inside the decor is very simple and clean. We started coming here since it was close to another store we frequent and it has now become a regular stop along the way for my family. Bakery breads are great for a quick snack or breakfast, the two pictured are my most frequent buys: a pineapple bun and their hot dog bun with scallions. They have loads of others to choose from and if you go in the morning/early afternoon, you'll see them refilling the front with more from the back so you can tell they're fresh (once they sell out for the day, that's it, so it's best to go earlier too). While it wouldn't be what you'd think of first, don't knock some of their dim sum options. It may not be the same as getting it off of a cart in a restaurant, but they're great supplements to meals when you're busy during the week. We get the spare ribs with black bean sauce and the sticky rice with chicken wrapped in lotus leaf and they're pretty easy to reheat. Avoid the Mexican bun with pork floss (a bit hard and not so tasty) but otherwise be adventurous and try out their other breads! Definitely stop by if you're in the area. A quick snack for a reasonable price.

Rainbow Bakery was recommended by my friends who are super picky with Hong Kong Style pastries and their favorites were the Red Bean Mochi and Egg Tart. We visited with high expectation but the options were limited on a Sunday afternoon around 3:00pm. Hence, we brought home pastries we didn't really want. Their pastries were overall delicious, so we might visit again to give them a second chance.

Overall great job. I like that you can order some "dimsum" in the back and they even have hup jai fon. You normally find these in old school Chinese bakeries in Manhattan, Chinatown. Now I know where to get a quick rice dish in a pinch! I also ordered their specialty cakes here. It's not bad but you are subjected to only what they offer... I tried to customize and they said they were not able to work with my vision. Pricing isn't too terrible since cakes are all so expensive now. If there's any room for improvement, I'd say they should put more fresh fruit into their fresh fruit cakes ... it was only a handful.

This place is one stop shopping! It's a good place to stock up on lots of dim sum without breaking your bank. They have a bit of everything. Dim sum, congee, soy milk, pastries etc... No need to go to multiple shops for everything. On the menu: Dim Sum: shrimp dumplings, fried shrimp chive dumplings, shumai, beef ball, bean curd roll, sticky rice, turnip cake Little box lunches (hop jiay fon): dishes like black bean spare ribs over rice Steamed chicken bun Big bun (dye bow): combo of pork chicken egg sausage bun Egg yolk buns Chicken bun Famous Guangzhou rice noodle rolls (pork, shrimp beef, or combo of two proteins, or fried dough stick) Cold and hot drinks: soy milk, hot chocolate, purple yam, red bean slush, bubble coffee, HK milk tea, strawberry yakult, etc. Also of course lots of pastries! Dim sum. Prices are cheaper than the main dim sum places. Tried shumai and shrimp dumplings. Good but average. Order dim sum from the cashier on the left. She will take them out of the steam cabinet behind her. Some dim sum like shrimp leek dumpling is fried fresh so there will be a slight wait after ordering it. Pastries I've tried are ok to good, but could use a bit more filling in some. Check out the sweet or savory buns in the refrigerator, sold by the bag. I'll be back to try some other foods. Everything is pretty fresh with a stream of people coming in and out of here.

The Rainbow Bakery (雲寶餅屋) chain recently added to their Downtown Flushing presence with a new location on Main Street, near Northern Boulevard. Rainbow offers a wide variety of baked goods and drinks, and a basic dim-sum selection. We tried a few buns and cake slices, such as their Matcha Salted Egg Yolk Bun, Red Bean Pineapple Bun, Custard Mille Crêpe Bun, Blueberry Square Cake, and Matcha Red Bean Cake. While some were interesting in concept, many were light in flavor. We tried a few items from Rainbow's dim-sum menu -- beef balls, shrimp dumplings (蝦餃; Ha Gow), pork and shrimp dumplings (燒賣; Siu Mai), and steamed spare ribs. All of these items were noticeably smaller and more modest in execution compared with their equivalents from dim-sum restaurants mere blocks away. Besides breads, buns, and cakes, Rainbow Bakery could be an option for those interested in a basic dim-sum selection, as the prices here recall a time when dim-sum was inexpensive.

Boston cream cake, Black Forest cake

I tried the cakes: the Black Forest cake and the Boston cream cake and both were very good! The Boston' creme cake was particularly delicious. The garlic bread is good as well! Prices: reasonably priced - $3.50 for each cake slice

Trying new bakery every time we come to Chinatown. Rainbow bakery is pretty good. Lots options for savory and sweet. Also have cakes and bubble tea!

This was my first time to try the taro bread here. It was pretty good! The bread was soft enough, taro was so smooth! Have already figured out what to eat next time! Also clean space and friendly service.

We walked into a no frills space where the prices are among the lowest we have found for fresh baked goods in the area, with most items running under two dollars. The black sesame and red bean buns are the items most worth seeking out, and they have earned repeat visits from people who plan their trips to Flushing around stopping here. The black sesame in particular has a depth of flavor that the more common sweet bun fillings do not match. We also tried the taro bread, which is soft with a smooth filling, another reliable choice for anyone who enjoys that flavor profile. The potato salad bun is a more unusual option that has developed its own following among regulars. The buns are individually wrapped for freshness, and the overall quality on the baked goods side is consistent and genuinely good for the price. The savory side of the menu covers ham and egg sandwiches, rice rolls, and dim sum options that function as a quick meal rather than a destination dining experience. We found results there more variable, and the baked goods are where the bakery is most dependable. For an affordable, no frills bakery stop in Flushing that delivers on value and a few standout buns, Rainbow Bakery is a reliable choice. We would come back specifically for the black sesame bun and keep our expectations calibrated on the savory side.

There's a lot of bakeries who have basic or plain savory breads and a lot more sweet ones. I prefer savory over sweet so this was a nice stop for me. Not sure if it was worth the price compared to going to a nearby food stall, but it was enough to hold me over a couple of hours in the morning. It can get packed and busy in here so it's really more of a grab and go type of bakery.

I walked into a simple, functional space with shelves and cases filled with buns, cakes, and packaged items meant more for quick pickup than sitting or browsing for long. The roasted pork buns and BBQ style buns were some of the most commonly picked items. I tried one and the bread was soft with a savory filling that leaned slightly sweet depending on the batch. Egg tarts are also part of the regular rotation, along with red bean buns and sponge cakes that stick to a more traditional bakery profile. The steamed buns section was a big part of the appeal here, especially for someone looking for quick, inexpensive food like pork buns or plain buns to take away. Prices are generally low compared to more modern bakeries in Flushing, which was a major reason I stopped in. Service was quick and straightforward, with my order handled fast even during a busy hour. The bakery has a high turnover of items throughout the day, so freshness can vary depending on timing, and selection is best earlier when the trays are more stocked. It is very much a grab and go spot rather than a place designed for dining in or browsing slowly. Overall, Maxin Bakery is a budget friendly Flushing bakery for basic Chinese baked goods and buns, best for quick snacks like pork buns, red bean buns, and egg tarts rather than specialty or dessert focused items.

I walked into a clean, well lit space designed for quick selection rather than lingering, and the display cases were filled with brightly decorated cakes and pastries that looked consistently fresh. The mango based cakes are the most consistent thing here. I tried one and found it light, creamy, and built around fresh fruit rather than overly heavy frosting, which made it easy to finish even after a full meal. The matcha cake also worked well, leaning more milky than bitter, with a soft sponge that held its structure without feeling dry. The pork floss cakes are one of the more interesting savory sweet options, and they came out better than I expected since they did not go overboard on sweetness. The croissants and egg tarts are solid supporting items rather than the main reason to come. The croissant I had was flaky with a noticeable butter layer, and the egg tart was best eaten warm as the custard tightens up when cold. The purple rice desserts are heavier but work if I want something more filling and texturally different from the fruit cakes. Service was generally efficient even when the bakery was busy, and the staff moved through orders quickly. Prices sit a bit higher than older style Flushing bakeries, but the tradeoff is cleaner presentation, more modern flavor combinations, and consistently fresh looking cakes.
