And because both of these things are white, it was a very pleasant surprise and interesting contrast for my tastebuds. It wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet - this is important, since I served it to older adults, who are not fond of super sugary, diabetes inducing cakes (hahah ). But they appreciated the cinnamon-y taste from the pumpkin spice cake. Furthermore, all the fruit on the cake was fresh. There were pomegranate seeds, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. This too, just hit right for me on the gentle sweetness, the pandan flavor keeping the spotlight in this dessert. My mom and I are big fans of these desserts.
