Sticky Rice Boats (11 individually wrapped/box)
    Melissa C.

Apollo Bakery is evolving with the times! Have you tried their Sticky Rice Boats?!? If no, run and try them now. If you're lucky , you might get 1 box. Each box comes with 11 individually wrapped rice boat with a mix of nuts (almond, pumpkin kernels, walnut) and cranberry? (Guessing because I forgot to ask the cashier what berry was in the boat). Then there's a sweet glaze on top making it incredibly pretty and delicious at the same time. I was super lucky today and was able to buy 3 boxes. One for me, one for my husband and one for my mil. My mother-in-law(mil) loves these too! Apollo Bakery has many yummylicious products but the Sticky Rice Boats are my favorite! Apollo Bakery definitely gets my Yummylicious Stamp of Approval! Two thumbs up !

    Taro/walnut/coconut raisin

Excellent. Got 3 pastries for under $8.50 (love saving with cash!) got walnut, coconut raisin and taro. Walnut was my favorite. Perfectly sweet and so many walnuts. Coconut raisin was really good too. Taro ok but needed way more filling. Not sweet at all. I will be ordering 3 different items next visit. Yum.

Sweet potato pineapple bin, Matcha redbean pineapple bun, sweet potato roll, taro pineapple bun, sweet potato bread

A large variety of pastries that are cheap and high quality. I love sweet potato, and their sweet potato filled pineapple bun was so good, I'm still thinking about it tbh... The matcha pineapple bun is filled with redbean and it was decent, but the matcha flavor was lacking unfortunately. each pastry was around $2-3 each. Recommend checking this bakery out if you're in Flushing!

Would have never known until a friend recommended this bakery. It's a very small storefront, but inside there's a large variety of baked goods and pastries. There was a lot I wanted to try, but I limited myself to their original Taiwanese pineapple bun ($2.50) to see if I liked it. The crust was not as crunchy as I expected, but the bun was tasty. I would love to try their other bakery goods to get a better opinion.

I stumbled upon Apollo Bakery on a day trip to Flushing. Even though I had already ate a pastry from a chain bakery on the main block, I always want to try small mom and pop type establishments especially if I'm all the way in a particular hood so I popped in out of curiosity. As soon you walk in the delicious smell of baked goods hits you. The space is very cozy and not designed for sitting around like the other chain bakeries in the neighborhood. I got the chocolatey cake type dessert and it was delicious. Afterwards I looked at the other rave reviews and kind of wished I didn't get a pastry from the chain spot so that I have more of an appetite to try more things there. Oh well, I will definitely make sure to try more pastries from Apollo Bakery the next time I'm in Flushing. The service was fairly quick and friendly.

Past by this small bakery and wanted to pick up a few cakes/buns on my way home. Many Yelpers raved about this bakery, particularly the Sesame creme roll cake. Bought myself one of the roll cake for to try- and liked it. The sesame cake was soft and has a light sesame flavor; creme filling isn't too heavy nor sweet- makes the cake that much more tasty. It is pricey for a small slice of cake (3.75). This popular cake slice sells out fast- it was mid-day and I got the last one. The milk tea drink tasted okay.

    Honey layers cake

Talk about the hole in the wall. So much so in fact, that you might just walk past and miss it right before your eyes, like we did. Regardless, both the pumpkin see bun (I made this up since there was no label for it) and the honey layered cake were FINE. The honey came had what seemed like a dozen layers with juicy 'honey' layers every few layers and were wonderfully moist and delicious. The seed bun had what tasted like cream cheese paste as a filing, and was a great snack. This place had a good handful of other things I wanted to get, so don't let the petite facade fool you into thinking they have a small selection. I hope they stay open for long.

Amazing Taiwanese bakery! Probably one of the best bakeries in flushing! Hands down! The breads from here has an amazing texture! It's springy, moist and most of all tender! What's most special is that they sell "su(酥)" which is a moon cake like type of flakey pastry with different types of fillings like green bean, red bean and even salted egg yolk! You'll always see a line here so be sure to go early because most of the good breads sell out before noon!

small cute and traditional bakery shop. It seems more for elder or people who appreciate old fashion bakery. My friend got the cream pie, pineapple bun. It's very cheap and only costs a couple of bucks. The interior is pretty small so it can fit a few people inside only. No seating. Only standing table is available

We walked into a no frills space where the prices are among the lowest we have found for fresh baked goods in the area, with most items running under two dollars. The black sesame and red bean buns are the items most worth seeking out, and they have earned repeat visits from people who plan their trips to Flushing around stopping here. The black sesame in particular has a depth of flavor that the more common sweet bun fillings do not match. We also tried the taro bread, which is soft with a smooth filling, another reliable choice for anyone who enjoys that flavor profile. The potato salad bun is a more unusual option that has developed its own following among regulars. The buns are individually wrapped for freshness, and the overall quality on the baked goods side is consistent and genuinely good for the price. The savory side of the menu covers ham and egg sandwiches, rice rolls, and dim sum options that function as a quick meal rather than a destination dining experience. We found results there more variable, and the baked goods are where the bakery is most dependable. For an affordable, no frills bakery stop in Flushing that delivers on value and a few standout buns, Rainbow Bakery is a reliable choice. We would come back specifically for the black sesame bun and keep our expectations calibrated on the savory side.

There's a lot of bakeries who have basic or plain savory breads and a lot more sweet ones. I prefer savory over sweet so this was a nice stop for me. Not sure if it was worth the price compared to going to a nearby food stall, but it was enough to hold me over a couple of hours in the morning. It can get packed and busy in here so it's really more of a grab and go type of bakery.

I walked into a simple, functional space with shelves and cases filled with buns, cakes, and packaged items meant more for quick pickup than sitting or browsing for long. The roasted pork buns and BBQ style buns were some of the most commonly picked items. I tried one and the bread was soft with a savory filling that leaned slightly sweet depending on the batch. Egg tarts are also part of the regular rotation, along with red bean buns and sponge cakes that stick to a more traditional bakery profile. The steamed buns section was a big part of the appeal here, especially for someone looking for quick, inexpensive food like pork buns or plain buns to take away. Prices are generally low compared to more modern bakeries in Flushing, which was a major reason I stopped in. Service was quick and straightforward, with my order handled fast even during a busy hour. The bakery has a high turnover of items throughout the day, so freshness can vary depending on timing, and selection is best earlier when the trays are more stocked. It is very much a grab and go spot rather than a place designed for dining in or browsing slowly. Overall, Maxin Bakery is a budget friendly Flushing bakery for basic Chinese baked goods and buns, best for quick snacks like pork buns, red bean buns, and egg tarts rather than specialty or dessert focused items.

I walked into a clean, well lit space designed for quick selection rather than lingering, and the display cases were filled with brightly decorated cakes and pastries that looked consistently fresh. The mango based cakes are the most consistent thing here. I tried one and found it light, creamy, and built around fresh fruit rather than overly heavy frosting, which made it easy to finish even after a full meal. The matcha cake also worked well, leaning more milky than bitter, with a soft sponge that held its structure without feeling dry. The pork floss cakes are one of the more interesting savory sweet options, and they came out better than I expected since they did not go overboard on sweetness. The croissants and egg tarts are solid supporting items rather than the main reason to come. The croissant I had was flaky with a noticeable butter layer, and the egg tart was best eaten warm as the custard tightens up when cold. The purple rice desserts are heavier but work if I want something more filling and texturally different from the fruit cakes. Service was generally efficient even when the bakery was busy, and the staff moved through orders quickly. Prices sit a bit higher than older style Flushing bakeries, but the tradeoff is cleaner presentation, more modern flavor combinations, and consistently fresh looking cakes. For a modern bakery stop in Flushing, Shakalaka delivers on quality and visual appeal.
