Pieces of plastic found in smoothie

I found large chunks of plastic in my smoothie. I'm sure it was an accident and maybe a knife or fork fell inside the blender and wasn't noticed. But it's of course extremely dangerous. Please be careful when making orders as I could have really harmed myself

They changed owners a year ago and I guess I'll be the first to rate them on yelp. I stayed here for an afternoon and enjoyed the iced coffee and delicious bread, there are not many people here, so compared to Starbucks, it's not crowded or noisy, and there is no time limit here, so I can sit here as long as I want , enjoy my food and will not be rudely kicked out by the staff, or stared by staff . The lady who work as cashier has a good attitude, she can speak Chinese and Korean, but her English is not that good, but she understands what I'm ordering, it's just that she needs to confirm many times so that I won't order the wrong coffee, I don't mind that. I'll be back here next time as I enjoy the quiet sitting time here. By the way, because they have buy 2 get 1 free time between 06:00 p.m. - 07:00 p.m. I usually walk by and got lot of free bread for low price. Love it!

A Korean bakery in Downtown Flushing. With a good friend who is now a local to Flushing, we ventured to Canaan Bakery for after brunch sweets. One Green Tea cake was very light and refreshing, one coconut bun, one mini Tawianese pineapple cake were a delight. I like this bakery for the many options.

$1.65 small coffee. Hand for scale.

I am a fan of the pandan flavor desserts and bought two that I wanted to try. One being a roll cake and the other layer cake. The pandan roll cake with taro I was told is a specialty that they only have on weekends. It was really flavorful, moist and spongy, just perfectly touched with a dash of sweetness in both the cake and the cream - I personally don't like overly sweet foods, and this is just perfect for me and my mom. I'm equally pleased with the layer cake as well it was very fresh and have that "QQ" texture - deliciously chewy and bouncy. This too, just hit right for me on the gentle sweetness, the pandan flavor keeping the spotlight in this dessert. My mom and I are big fans of these desserts. We just came back trying out others pandan layer cakes in Downtown Flushing and this shop beats them by a large margin. I hope to come back more when we could even though this shop is quite a distance for us.

I walked into a clean, well lit space designed for quick selection rather than lingering, and the display cases were filled with brightly decorated cakes and pastries that looked consistently fresh. The mango based cakes are the most consistent thing here. I tried one and found it light, creamy, and built around fresh fruit rather than overly heavy frosting, which made it easy to finish even after a full meal. The matcha cake also worked well, leaning more milky than bitter, with a soft sponge that held its structure without feeling dry. The pork floss cakes are one of the more interesting savory sweet options, and they came out better than I expected since they did not go overboard on sweetness. The croissants and egg tarts are solid supporting items rather than the main reason to come. The croissant I had was flaky with a noticeable butter layer, and the egg tart was best eaten warm as the custard tightens up when cold. The purple rice desserts are heavier but work if I want something more filling and texturally different from the fruit cakes. Service was generally efficient even when the bakery was busy, and the staff moved through orders quickly. Prices sit a bit higher than older style Flushing bakeries, but the tradeoff is cleaner presentation, more modern flavor combinations, and consistently fresh looking cakes. For a modern bakery stop in Flushing, Shakalaka delivers on quality and visual appeal.

They offer really fun and delicious flavors here with their pastries and cakes. The prices here are also really good. Their bread is also really good. I tried the Japanese crab meat bread, Coconut cream bread, and their egg sandwich which I loved! They tasted delicious and they were also very filling. The ambience is modern and clean. The line moves quickly. However, it can be hard to find a seat here and it can get very busy. It's best to grab your pastries and go. It is also near public transit, and the train. I will come back here again to pick up a cake from here, the prices are good and the flavors are also good. Price:$8.75 Rating: 9/10

At $2.95 each I got a baked roast pork bun, and a pineapple topping custard bun. Both were very big and every component was high-quality. The pork inside was a natural looking sauce - not bright red, the pork was cut up into regular pieces/strips it was like a healthy meal. The bread part was fluffy, dense and didn't feel like an empty white flour situation. The custard bun had a very generous amount of a custard in it and the pineapple topping didn't crumble off and fall off into pieces, but was very nicely made shell. And it was "Not-too-Sweet"! AND they were also warm! The shop's pretty simple with maybe 10 different items, also frozen baos to go, lotus wrapped sticky rice and tarts, the homemade pineapple cakes looked good. I got a Hong Kong milk tea (hot) $2.25, but the flavors weren't that strong. There were a lot of students picking up snacks, probably from nearby Queens, College, young families, a grandpa and his adult grandson came in for hot milk tea, and egg tarts. The two auntie's working the counter or very friendly and trilingual - Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Ordering was extremely easy. Excited to finally visit this place, I never realized it was there every time I passed by on the bus. I'll be back!

The lady who I assume is the boss said she had held a pop-up shop about two years prior which blew up, hence what we see here. The selection here was deceptively small compared to chain bakeries, but it didn't take us long recognise how much power the smaller selection packs and, actually, how the selection really is not small at all. The matcha red bean loaf grabbed my attention straight away and didn't disappoint, but their red bean bun was just as impressive, as it's a more bread-y counterpart to the fluffy versions other bakeries typically have. The onioissant is definitely experimental and worked better on the chive bacon cream cheese one than on the pollack roe, which was a bit too much on the salty and fishy side for my liking. Their chocolate horn is at least twice as big as a typical one you'll find at other bakeries and has a rich dark chocolate filling which was a pleasant surprise. Their coffee brioche pastry was another hit, thanks to the strong coffee filling and delicate layers of pastry. There's ample tables and chairs, beverage menu, and I'm sure we'd come hang if we lived closer. I can't wait to go back.
