I was in the area on Saturday and took a look at the places around. Noticed this bakery so I came in to check out what they have and hopefully grab a few things that I don't see regularly. The selection was pretty sparse and it was only 11 something in the morning. Another customer was asking about some mochi bun and the response from the woman he spoke to made it seem like they only restock once in the morning. So it's a you snooze you lose type of situation. I picked up a pineapple bun and 2 different red bean baked goods. They looked different than what I see at other Chinese bakeries. Got home and got into these. Man they definitely look better than they taste. Not really sure what the pineapple bun tasted like, but the topping on it was not good. The red bean buns were quite flavorless. I visited Mugi recently while with a client who crowned this her "favorite Japanese bakery". She loves the Passion Fruit Tea, so we stopped in. I was shocked to see that the Scallion buns I was in search of at the local Chinese bakeries were in full stock here for $1.50. I purchased two that were light as a croissant, buttery and filled with scallions. Very good buns. This place is very modern and swanky. They have a nice assortment of beautiful cakes and pastries. They sell different kinds of iced teas and coffee here if you'd like to plan for a coffee date or meet up. Seating is extremely scarce, so it's preferable to grab what you need and then leave for home. read more

Everything looks good, but taste is a completely different story. This is a good spot to grab some bread or cake and go. I wouldn't suggest wasting your money for a birthday cake of any sort. I've tried their cakes and macarons, but the flavor and texture aren't as good as the other bakeries in the area and they are also pricier here. There also are not many seats and you are likely to get smacked into by the rush of people that come in and out. Ever since it opened i wanted to give it a try but never did until recently cause i got super hungry and i was doing rounds. This bakery is deff different from the bakeries around Flushing.This one was different from the chinese bakeries and the korean ones. This bakery I feel are more for younger people since there were lots of cupcakes and cakes (and buns but sweet ones) The buns are different of course. I've tried the mochi bun and another time the chocolate custard bun. BOTH were yummy as heck. The mochi bun wasn't sweet which I thought was great and in the center of the bun inside it had a mochi. It was so cool , overall the bun wasn't plain but it wasn't overly sweet. I liked it anyways. I felt it was unique and i like mochi and it was great. The chocolate custard was interesting as well. It was sort of like a dessert kinda bun not your breakfast bun. I thought it was more like a snack bun when i was eating it. I'm not saying it's bad. It not super sweet either its a really good bun with chocolate custard! yummmm Another time I had their oreo cheesecake and it was amazing!! it was soft and smooth. But I also got the mango mousse and I was disappointed. There was mango taste but It doesn't taste natural. Also the texture of the mousse was weird, it was like jelly ish texture. I couldn't even finish it ...I didn't want to. The place also had cupcakes and macaroons! The displays of cakes and everything was really nice. Idk I only had one disappointing thing so the place seems good enough for now. But I kind of want to try their cupcakes but i wonder if it's anything special or it's just well.... a cupcake. I asked for a cup of coffee with 2 equals and next I noticed the lady making my coffee has her hand in the cup taking something out and proceeds to add water to the same cup and that's when I had to stop her and tell her I don't want that cup. I had to tell her that putting her bare hands with no gloves on my cup was disgusting. She apologized and grabbed a new cup. I will not be going back there. Terrible customer service ever. I would like to give a minus score if I could. My stuff was accidentally kicked under the fridge by another customer. When asking the staff for help, the cashier told me to go to whoever did it, they are not responsible for taking the thing out. I came here with my family for some Asian inspired dessert and man was it amazing! It was a pretty small bakery so don't expect a lot of seating. Not the most convenient location as it's in the heart of traffic central and I had to knock off stars because they didn't have the bubble tea that was on their menu. They do have a decent selection of cakes with some interesting flavors. One flavor I went to go try in particular was their raspberry white chocolate cake. Definitely a bite into diabetes heaven but worth the cheat day to cure my blahs of feeling sickish. Loved how the tartness of the raspberry complimented the sweetness of the whipped cream and the piece of macaron was to die for. I also really enjoyed the piece of white chocolate and strawberry on top. The cake was also nice and spongey and loved how they had a layer of yellow sponge and chocolate sponge. It was kind of sad they didn't have the bubble tea the boyfriend wanted but I got him an eclair which he hasn't tried yet but I know must be just as good as my cake slice was. Will definitely consider giving this place another chance and trying that tiramisu slice next time. read more

I come to this bakery once in a while because of the variety. The quality of the breads are good however the service is the reason for the 2 stars. With all the bakeries in the Flushing area I can go elsewhere for better service. I didn't realize my friend had placed an order for a large size cup of coffee for me so when I told them I wanted a small the reaction was unprofessional. It's okay here. It's definitely pretty when you walk in, but it's small. When you walk in you sorta get the feeling of when you walk into Paris Baguette, just with less people. Of course, the pastries are very appealing, and it makes you just want to buy it and eat it. It's a little cheaper than Paris Baguette and it doesn't taste as good (you get what you pay for) and it's not as fresh as the ones that they serve in Paris Baguette. I bought a strawberry croissant with chocolate syrup for $2 there, and it tasted good but not as fresh. The strawberries were a little sour. The shop looks modern and trendy. I love the colors and decor. It's clean and not expensive at all. The green tea and mango cake is terrific. Their cakes are so light and fluffy; other cakes elsewhere weigh a ton and too filling from one bite. A lot of the cakes have real ingredients; fruit a-plenty! nuts a-plenty! They have traditional bakery treats like red velvet, strawberry shortcake, chocolate mousse. They also have ethnic flavors, which I enjoy sampling from time to time. This place is OK. not the best and not the worst. Its within walking distance from my house which is a plus but it's not something to rant and rave about. The girls there are nice but do not seem to know much about items that are being served. They tried to tell me that tiramisu was plain chocolate cake which I KNOW its not. I also asked if they had pork buns, for my guy who loves them. They gave me one (I had no clue if it really was one because I don't eat them). When I got it home to my guy, he tried it and said it wasn't pork. It was fish and it was spoiled. Major thumbs down! The pumpkin cheesecake was ok. Tasted too much like canned pumpkin. The red velvet and the marble cheesecake was good so in my book that is what saved them. Don't ask for help ordering cause the girls do not know much about the products. I went here three times in the same day. LOL! This is a trendy place that is a cut above the average Asian bakery. They have a wide variety of pastries and sandwiches that are quite beautifully prepared. I had the breakfast sandwich of sausage, egg and cheese in the morning. I went back to buy $15 dollars worth of delectable looking pastries. I then went back at lunch time to have their version of a Cuban sandwich (good, but it needed a little mustard) with bubble tea. I tried their strawberry mousse cake, tiramisu cake, and flan. What I like about this place is that it has their own unique baked goods that make them different from many Chinese bakeries. I find it rare for bakeries to have flan. In fact, this is my first time trying a flan outside and from a bakery, and it has a smooth texture and great flavor. Each cake is also beautifully made. If I must compare between cakes from Feida and those from Mugi, I'd choose Mugi for cakes. They are not too sweet and flavors are just right (tiramisu cake was the best for me). They are also very soft and fluffy. I notice some comments say that the prices are on the expensive side, but I find that they are reasonable considering that the food are well baked and have many different flavors. The bread is similar to all other breads at regular bakeries. The cakes (whole and sliced) are very pretty and nicely decorated. They serve drinks that range from lattes to coffee to tea. I got the pudding one time, which was overly sweet. It comes in a small plastic container which is cute. The chocolate mousse cake was pretty good if you like mousse. The pastries and breads at Mugi look good, but aren't great(texture and taste-wise). The baked goods here are slightly more expensive compared to other Chinese bakeries in the area. The only thing I occasionally get here is the multi-grain loaf of bread, because I question the freshness of the pastries in the display. So I called the manager there a day after I went to the bakery and explained to her what had happened to me on that day. The manager apologized and said all the more experienced front desk were out that afternoon which means there was no supervisor there. And, all the employees working there that afternoon were just young kids.
