Still a 5/5. I stopped by Yeh's Bakery and had such a lovely experience. You could tell the pastries had been freshly made, and I enjoyed trying the different flavors. What really made my visit memorable, though, was the staff. The ladies working there were absolutely charming, warm, and genuinely lovely to interact with. Sometimes a pleasant interaction can make a simple stop at a bakery feel special, and that was certainly the case here. Good pastries, freshly made, and outstanding service. I will definitely be back!

However, I still haven't tried their infamous Boston Cream Pie ($21). Everyone raves about this pie/cake! Hopefully I'll get to try it next time. This bakery has a lot of old-school Cantonese bakery items, as well as some hot foods. But on this visit, these are the items we tried: -- Individual Sponge cakes ($2): Very good! It's definitely not as eggy as the sponge cakes at Kam Hing in Manhattan Chinatown (The GOAT!!) but this version is much better than the ones at Golden Sponge Cakes in the Golden Mall. They were light & fluffy, and pretty good. I only wish they were more "eggy". -- Rainbow Sponge Cake Roll ($17): Pretty good! This log cake combines 3 flavors: vanilla, matcha & strawberry. Tasty, fresh and visually appealing! Customer service was very friendly, welcoming & helpful! Can't wait to go back for that Boston Cream Pie Cake!!

They're very soft almost marshmallow like and over a week will get harder. If you prefer that texture great, but I suggest eating them ASAP when they're in the intended condition. My family loves the oreo and strawberry nougat. Can't speak much on the other items since I only go here for one thing. Interior of the bakery is pretty big with seating in the back, although it does have a lot of foot traffic.

However, maybe my all time favorite cake was the Mango Pomelo. As for the rest, they have a line of fruit shaped desserts that are quite delicious too. I especially like the Mango. The Coconut was cute looking, but the taste was just okay. Haven't tried the Peach or Banana yet, but plan to at some point. I also enjoy their Black Sesame Bread and a few other pastries. Lastly, not sure how often this situation might come up, but Shakalaka is the only place to get Chinese breads till 10:00pm in the area. Everything else closes before 9:00pm. Bao Pastry and Naisnow are both open past 9:00pm, but neither sell any regular Chinese sandwiches or various breads.

At $2.95 each I got a baked roast pork bun, and a pineapple topping custard bun. Both were very big and every component was high-quality. The pork inside was a natural looking sauce - not bright red, the pork was cut up into regular pieces/strips it was like a healthy meal. The bread part was fluffy, dense and didn't feel like an empty white flour situation. The custard bun had a very generous amount of a custard in it and the pineapple topping didn't crumble off and fall off into pieces, but was very nicely made shell. And it was "Not-too-Sweet"! AND they were also warm! The shop's pretty simple with maybe 10 different items, also frozen baos to go, lotus wrapped sticky rice and tarts, the homemade pineapple cakes looked good. I got a Hong Kong milk tea (hot) $2.25, but the flavors weren't that strong. There were a lot of students picking up snacks, probably from nearby Queens, College, young families, a grandpa and his adult grandson came in for hot milk tea, and egg tarts. The two auntie's working the counter or very friendly and trilingual - Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Ordering was extremely easy. Excited to finally visit this place, I never realized it was there every time I passed by on the bus. I'll be back!

The lady who I assume is the boss said she had held a pop-up shop about two years prior which blew up, hence what we see here. The selection here was deceptively small compared to chain bakeries, but it didn't take us long recognise how much power the smaller selection packs and, actually, how the selection really is not small at all. The matcha red bean loaf grabbed my attention straight away and didn't disappoint, but their red bean bun was just as impressive, as it's a more bread-y counterpart to the fluffy versions other bakeries typically have. The onioissant is definitely experimental and worked better on the chive bacon cream cheese one than on the pollack roe, which was a bit too much on the salty and fishy side for my liking. Their chocolate horn is at least twice as big as a typical one you'll find at other bakeries and has a rich dark chocolate filling which was a pleasant surprise. Their coffee brioche pastry was another hit, thanks to the strong coffee filling and delicate layers of pastry. There's ample tables and chairs, beverage menu, and I'm sure we'd come hang if we lived closer. I can't wait to go back.
