Wanted to write an update review on New Fully Bakery. I still come here just to get their cupcakes. The smaller cupcakes which are soft and chewy. Like the bigger cupcakes with a cup of coffee and dunk them in which is nice for breakfast. Muffins that I prefer are Blueberry and Taro goes great with a cup of coffee. Staff friendly once you walk and as they greet you. It's very small bakery no chairs nor tables. Just grab and go kind of place. Across is a park where I stop and enjoy my cupcake and coffee before I continue through the day. read more

As Elmhurst Chinatown continues to expand, it's places like New Fully Bakery that will continue to see success. Chinese bakeries are among the most frequented spots in the hood and this spot is no exception. I've been here for my share of pastry needs, as well as my usual milk tea cravings. Since their opening / renovation two years ago, I thought they would choose a new name but New Fully (新福利) is a literal transliteration of their name (New Fook Lee). They started off with some buzz with their customized cakes, featuring all sorts of cartoony designs like Hong Kong Phooey, Hello Kitty, etc. Their buns (sausage, pork buns, etc.) are easy snacks on the go. I believe they're made in-house and are super affordable. They won't be the most incredibly delicious buns ever, but they do the job on the fly. I tend to prefer this place for their drinks, as they make a killer iced milk tea. The ladies behind the counter are nice and it helps to speak Cantonese. I would also consider their birthday cakes since their custom jobs are still pretty good. Parking can be an issue and the usual gripes about their hours. I always wish bakeries would stay open past 8pm and offer their goods for that day at a discount. read more

The women who run this bakery are just nasty and unpleasant. I went in and ordered an egg custard (one of my favorite Chinese pastries) and went to pay. I counted out 10 pennies to give to her for my pastry. She took the pennies and dropped them on the counter and said we only take up to 5 pennies. Seriously?!?! That was absurd. I took my custard and went outside. When I took a bite it was the most disgusting egg tart I have ever ordered. I spit it out immediately. It was greasy and the dough was thick and not flakey. I buy these pastries all the time but I will for sure never pop into this bakery again. I suggest you do the same. Some bakeries are outstanding, others are horrible but New Fully Bakery rides the middle ground. This small hole in the wall would be easy to miss if you walked too fast. When you go in, there's barely enough room for more than 3 people to stand in front of the counter, but the set up is not unusual for anyone accustomed to Chinese bakeries. Lots of items are individually wrapped and laid out near the cashier. Behind you is another set of baked goods you can buy and there were a couple items behind the counter. I wound up getting a couple of the sponge roll cakes and they were good. Not the best I've ever had, but not tasteless either. I noticed they also offered sandwiches but I did not have one that day. There are other, better bakeries in the area but you'd have to walk a bit to get to them. This isn't a bad place to stop if you're in the area. read more

I adore this bakery. There is definitely something cozy, warm, and different about the atmosphere as well as the offerings than any other Asian bakery I have been to. The inside is very cramped, sometimes you cannot even pass people and just have to wait for them to get out of the way. Everything here is not just made of the same cake batter. There are also cookies and sandwiches, all homemade. The Coconut Cream bun here is the best I have ever had. The green tea cakes are what lured me in to begin with. I recently popped in for a lai cha (tea with milk). They use light cream, so most people who are lactose intolerant can handle it. It is delicious. They speak Chinese and English pretty clearly. I also notice a variety of different buns and snacks. I decided on the bor lo bau (pineapple bun). Yum! I noticed homemade bread and prepared sandwiches. There were different sizes for coffee, hot chocolate, tea, etc. It is small with no seating, so you might as well take it go and eat in the park/playground further down the street. read more

This place definitely has different products other than the typical Chinese style bakery buns and cakes. The prices are very very reasonable where most products are in the $1 range. Everything is individually wrapped which gives it the feeling of being sanitary. The variety they fit into this tiny little store is mind boggling. I walked in here and couldn't believe the sheer volume of products shoved into a tiny little store. It was confusing because there was soooo much to choose from. I have to comeback and maybe start in the right in the back of the store and work my way around clockwise? My husband makes the China Town rounds with his parents for shopping and eating. They used to live in China Town Manhattan, Brooklyn and now Flushing but they also shop in Elmhurst and shop in all of the China Towns in the 5 boros. He almost always brings home pastries for me from different bakeries in all of the China Towns they shop at. I choose not to go on these trips because I want to save my ear drums. If you have been around Cantonese families when they are together you know what I mean. Anyway as Lizz K says I like that they are wrapped because I prefer not to eat food that strangers are handling and putting back into the bins. Fully bakery also has their products in many Asian Markets. But the one thing I do not like about it is a few times there have been baked goods that were molded. They are fresh with no preservatives not mass produced, but they mold easily too. They will sell them after they are molded so check them out before buying! read more

This is my favorite bakery of all time in Elmhurst. They have a variety of buns that look very neat and tasty. My favorite is the seaweed bun with dried pork. They give me a slight indication of "higher quality" and as a result, there is a slight "premium" (of a quarter, which... adds up in the long run I guess). Let me get to the point of this review: Personally, I come here for their yin yang drink, which is a half milk-tea and half coffee mix. They have the BEST YIN YANG drink, I come every week for one. Now, it's very dependent on the lady that makes your drink. A large yin yang costs about two bucks, which is slightly pricier than the $1.50 from other places-- but well worth it, as it is DELICIOUS. Recently, I have not felt the drink has been up-to-par as there is a different lady that (is probably new and...) has been preparing the drinks for me. I continued to stop by for the past few weeks with the same new lady preparing the drink for me. Not the same. I don't know if my original lady left or not, but... I think I'll be unable to get my yin yang fix here anymore. What am I going to do??!?! /life is over (just kidding, I guess I'll have to hunt around for a new bakery to deem "my favorite bakery of all time"). Other bakeries typically do not offer the 16oz large cups that they do here for a large size, and it was one of the reasons I liked coming. This place is amazing!!! Little tiny hole in the wall, and has lots to offer. Yes it gets cramped in their but its worth it. I love there Ham and Cheese sandwich that has the cheese melted on top. They also offer delicious mini sponge cakes for $0.50. Who needs those sugary pre packaged cakes at grocery stores when you can come here and get it fresh and cheap. read more

This is probably one of my favorite bakery of all times. I always come here for their dried pork semicircle sponge cakes. I always buy the large sets with around 6 of them. They never get old and are always so delicious. Do also try their seaweed wrapped bread, it's wonderful! They also have 50¢ sponge cupcakes. You might think that for that cheap of a price, they're probably not so great but it's really good! Like really good! Not to mention how cute they are. The only thing I didn't like so much about this store was their buns. I find the buns to be dry and not very soft like how I like them. But overall their products are always so fresh and tasty! Very tiny bakery but they make some pretty good pastries and buns. Their bread don't taste old or stale like many Flushing bakeries. They don't have a large variety but what they do have is fairly decent. Their prices are pretty reasonable and their location is not that bad either. It's just a block away from the Elmhurst train station, across the street from Broadway park and conveniently next to two Chinese supermarkets. I do like this bakery more than Fay Da Bakery because the bread taste better. Everything in Fay Da taste old and re-baked. This place isn't the greatest bakery but give it a shot if you're nearby, it's cheap. read more

This is a small bakery which is good when you need a fast coffee pick up. But if you need a fresh bread, I don't think this will be your place. This small, cozy bakery is overflowing with baked buns, cakes, and cookies. So much so, that only about 5 people at a time can fit to browse and buy their treats. Unlike most Asian bakeries I've gone to, Fully Bakery is warmly lit and welcoming. Buns are laid out on shelves against the wall and everything is individually wrapped so I don't have to worry about someone else's grubby hands having touched my precious buns. There's such a variety surrounding you that it's difficult to walk out with just one especially at around a buck each. And why bother resisting? I live in Miami, Florida and shop at TK Chinese Market on SW 8 Street and SW 80 Avenue. They get shipments of the buns from Fully and they are delicious. The custard buns and coconut buns are to die for. I wish I lived in Queens, I would visit them all the time. read more
