I got the garlic chicken sandwich to try, it was pretty good! I liked that there was a lot of savory bread/pastries. There's a lot of bakeries who have basic or plain savory breads and a lot more sweet ones. I prefer savory over sweet so this was a nice stop for me. Not sure if it was worth the price compared to going to a nearby food stall, but it was enough to hold me over a couple of hours in the morning. Oreo custard cake $28- pretty decent. Altho I prefer less sweet, wasn't extremely sweet. I expected it to be disgustingly sweet like Oreo cakes from western bakeries, but was pleasantly surprised that it isn't. Rainbow Bakery is a wonderful Chinese bakery offering a mixture of modern and traditional pastries!! It is hard to find Chinese baked goods without dairy or egg in it. Red bean buns are my go to since they're vegan, and this one did not disappoint!! I ordered the matcha red bean bun and it was delicious! The sweetness of the red bean with the earthy flavor of the matcha was divine. You can also tell that these are fresh because of the warmth and fluffiness! Like most Chinese bakeries, you have tongs and a tray, and pick your own pastries. The checkout went quick since it wasn't too busy. The staff seemed knowledgeable and helpful to the patrons that needed assistance. The layout is cute and convenient. There isn't seating, but there is a countertop by the window that you can eat at. I usually come here to buy something once a week. My family members also buy here（Beside the subway ）.Today was the worst experience. I bought two bread for $4.55 and gave $20dollars and 55 cents .But I only had one quarter, two dimes and ten pennies. The cashier at the counter said she wouldn't accept 10 pennies only five pennies . I told her I didn't have any other coins. She said she could only accept five pennies, not ten. We ordered a 6 inch vanilla cake with mixed fruit on top. The cake was nice and light tasting which I really enjoyed. It didn't feel too heavy and the fruit on top and inside the layers was good. Upon further investigation, Rainbow Bakery now has three locations in Flushing. The one I visited was on Roosevelt Avenue, right off Main Street. We were there for a light breakfast while waiting for a shop in New World Mall to open. So many pastries looked great, and we choose an almond danish, red bean bun and slice of carrot cake for a cross section of their eastern and western capabilities, along with hot java to wash it all down. The store was brightly lit and clean, with display cases all around to satisfy your curiosity and temptations. We stood at the standing only shelf at the front window to munch, sip and watch the world go by. The danish was delicious with plenty of thin sliced almonds on top and mildly sweet cheese within. The bun was sticky, sweet and firm with a complete coating of sesame seeds. Also excellent, but a bit to gummy for me. The carrot cake was moist and well textured, but really didn't capture the flavor of carrot while lacking any cream cheese icing. Coffee was strong enough, although generic without roasting profile. We were satisfied to wait out the rain and watch customers come and go with small plastic bags full of their selected goodies. 3.5 stars Got some egg tarts.. reg $1.90 and Portuguese ones $2. Slightly more expensive here than the ones in Elmhurst and not as tasty. This is slightly more bland. The Portuguese egg tart didn't have a lot of caramelization on top. It's practically the same as a reg egg tart. If I was desperate for egg tarts I guess they're fine but they're just okay for me since the ones in Chinatown are so good!!! read more

For one, they have a good amount of cream puffs and other fancier looking desserts & cakes along with traditional classics like egg tarts, wife cookies, etc. I got the CHOCOLATE PINEAPPLE BUN (1.80) because I've never seen anything like that before. The chocolate top was delicious and crispy but I found the other parts of the bun to be average and a bit boring. There was also a lot of bread compared to the crispy top. I gave Rainbow Bakery a 4/5 for it's cleanliness, more modern twist on the baked goods, and potential of other desserts (since I only tried one thing). I love the location on Main Street and was so happy to see a new spot on Roosevelt Avenue. It's right by the 7 train station and near numerous bus stops, making it super convenient to swing by before work or school. This location has a wide selection of breads, pastries, and hot food (dim sum dishes, steamed buns). On my first visit, I got 5 different breads (I only intended on getting one but got carried away lol). I got a sausage bread, a ham and egg sandwich, a dry pork floss bread, a yogurt twist, and an egg and cheese bread. The total for all 5 came out to around $11 - so a little over $2 for each one. Service is fast and the food is delicious. At the register, you can peek and see inside the kitchen, where the cooks are constantly churning out freshly made bread. Shes also still the one who got mad and gave attitude when shes the one that couldn't understand. I went to this store this morning for breakfast and I got a bread. I forgot what it calls, it's not showing on the receipt. But it's round with a little cream inside. I found two egg shells in the bread while I was eating it. I also bake and I know this happens but the egg shells are visible that the baker shall see it.
