Maxin Bakery entrance from inside the Arcadia Mall

Maxin Bakery can be accessed from Main Street outside as well as inside Arcadia Mall. This cute yet small bakery has a really good assortment of both sweet and savory Chinese baked goods. You will not be disappointed as their baked goods are all individually wrapped and well organized. Under each bakery item, you will see a label written both in Chinese and English that details what it is. Additionally you will find trays and tongs for your use, as you ponder how many delicious items are a must have haha. I for one had many warm and fresh tasting hot dog buns, roast pork buns and a set of sweet Portuguese custard tarts to go. I am a repeat offender here and always look forward to buying a ton. Their baked goods freeze well so I'm able to enjoy them at my leisure. You've got to stop in here when you're in the neighborhood, their baked goods are yum! Lots of sweet as well as savory items to indulge in. Lastly, I always have a large to go hot creamy coffee for the ride home!

Small Chinese bakery with a good variety of baked goods. Lots of items to choose from in this little bakery shop. They even had cookies, baozi, pastries on top of the normal cakes. Everything looked delicious. The staff was really nice too. HAPPY BAKING!

Went in for an iced coffee and a few bakery items, coffee was quite bitter and the roast pork bun was blehhhh, it was cold and gelatinous, and super sweet, not to my liking. This area is hell for parking ! Service was good. But not the most hygienic spot.

Hearty selection of Chinese bakery items here, ranging from pork floss bun, various ham/frank buns, coconut buns, and more! There are also fresh (hot) steamed buns with various fillings, and if you want to bring home for later they also offer a pack of 9 steamed buns with filling for $10! I actually don't know if it's cash only but it's definitely more cash-friendly - and considering one bun is under $2, probably worth it to use cash (or any coins you have laying around) anyway!

Already ate. Two left for family.

Whenever I go to Flushing, I always make a pitstop at Maxin Bakery. You might say what makes Maxin Bakery stand out from all the other bakeries in Flushing, NY. The egg tarts currently $1.80 are nicely wrapped and I find them delicious. They also have Portuguese Egg Tarts 2 for $4.50. The other item that I get every time is in their refrigerator- Pack of 9 steamed buns- your choice of Roast Pork Buns, Vegetable or Chicken with Vegetable for $9.50. There are chairs and tables as you walk further in. If you walk further you are at Arcadia Mall. Lots of other Asian bakery items to select from.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon with the kids! Was here to look for some next day breakfast items, and there were so many options! They have a lot of classic Chinese bakery staples. Staff was friendly! There was some seating in the back but all taken up by people! Their bakery was fresh and delicious! We will be back! Thanks!

The 3 different sponge cakes were $1.70 each and the coffee cake was $2.50. Lots of tastes for only $7.90! I liked the coffee cake least, since i wanted big coffee flavor and it wasn't there. It was interesting texture wise though. I loved the 3 soft cakes. Two of them had a sweet cream filling. This place is dangerous! I want to try everything!

One of the best bakery in Flushing Chinatown in Queens. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Their freshly baked Cantonese style buns is a cut above other bakery in the area. The mouth watering cakes is to die for. They may not have as large a selection as some of the other places but their quality sets them apart.

I'm giving one star because I was overcharged for egg tarts. I bought two, which should have cost $4.25, but the woman charged me $5, claiming they were Portuguese tarts. I know they were just regular egg tarts, but she insisted they were Portuguese and even put a sign labeling them as such. It was only a 75-cent difference, but this feels like an attempt to scam customers. This is not right and this place should be reported to Consumer Affairs, the Better Business Bureau, and the IRS.

This small bakery has freshly baked items that looks so delish! I was most definitely intrigued by the prices. Everything was decently priced for the items that were being sold. I bought the Bacon, scallion and hotdog bun. It was so gooooood the dough was extremely soft. Ahhh I should've got 1 more thing for the road lol

This place has a robust business on a Sunday at 8:15 AM. I was just strolling down Main Street, when I saw five people go inside the bakery within one minute. I had to go in and check out this corner bakery. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially in New York City! I got three roast pork buns for six dollars total, a beef curry pastry for less than two dollars, and a pork pastry. I also picked up a coconut custard bun for my Caucasian friend. They except credit cards. However, there is a small fee. I paid $9.25 for five items, a bargain!!! The roast pork bun is extremely delicious, and full of delicious lean pork meat. I highly recommend this bakery. The location I went to was 4235 Main St. I can back the next day on Labor Day Monday before 7 am and again noticed two people going in. I bought two fresh baked pork buns for $4 total cash and ate one immediately. They were still warm from being freshly made. I gave the other to my Irish/English friend and she said it was wonderful. The prices for the drinks were also extremely affordable! Much cheaper than in Atlanta! I would run here anytime I am back in the area!

There are a few locations for Maxin Bakery in Flushing (three located on Main Street). This location, the one next to the 7 train entrance has no seating but they serve the customers quickly. It is a pick up and go bakery selling Chinese sweet and savory buns along the shelves on the wall and milk teas ordered at the register. The buns ($1.55 each) are best in the morning, before noon. The bakery items are always fresh every time I come here and at 9 am they are warm. Towards 3 pm the selection is smaller and the buns are cold. This location has the best sweet topping bun (pineapple bun/bolo bao) around with three varieties of filling: red bean, coconut shred, and kaya cream. There is actually no pineapple in it but the topping looks like a pineapple skin, with its golden crunchy, crumbly crust.

    Tastes obviously stale!

The tiramisu is stale and hard. Very disappointed ! It's 2021 , why the bakery still selling the old cake that indicate the bakery is inferior! Why ! It's not just "not fresh " , it is hard like firm tufu !!

We walked into a no frills space where the prices are among the lowest we have found for fresh baked goods in the area, with most items running under two dollars. The black sesame and red bean buns are the items most worth seeking out, and they have earned repeat visits from people who plan their trips to Flushing around stopping here. The black sesame in particular has a depth of flavor that the more common sweet bun fillings do not match. We also tried the taro bread, which is soft with a smooth filling, another reliable choice for anyone who enjoys that flavor profile. The potato salad bun is a more unusual option that has developed its own following among regulars. The buns are individually wrapped for freshness, and the overall quality on the baked goods side is consistent and genuinely good for the price. The savory side of the menu covers ham and egg sandwiches, rice rolls, and dim sum options that function as a quick meal rather than a destination dining experience. We found results there more variable, and the baked goods are where the bakery is most dependable. For an affordable, no frills bakery stop in Flushing that delivers on value and a few standout buns, Rainbow Bakery is a reliable choice. We would come back specifically for the black sesame bun and keep our expectations calibrated on the savory side.

There's a lot of bakeries who have basic or plain savory breads and a lot more sweet ones. I prefer savory over sweet so this was a nice stop for me. Not sure if it was worth the price compared to going to a nearby food stall, but it was enough to hold me over a couple of hours in the morning. It can get packed and busy in here so it's really more of a grab and go type of bakery.

I walked into a clean, well lit space designed for quick selection rather than lingering, and the display cases were filled with brightly decorated cakes and pastries that looked consistently fresh. The mango based cakes are the most consistent thing here. I tried one and found it light, creamy, and built around fresh fruit rather than overly heavy frosting, which made it easy to finish even after a full meal. The matcha cake also worked well, leaning more milky than bitter, with a soft sponge that held its structure without feeling dry. The pork floss cakes are one of the more interesting savory sweet options, and they came out better than I expected since they did not go overboard on sweetness. The croissants and egg tarts are solid supporting items rather than the main reason to come. The croissant I had was flaky with a noticeable butter layer, and the egg tart was best eaten warm as the custard tightens up when cold. The purple rice desserts are heavier but work if I want something more filling and texturally different from the fruit cakes. Service was generally efficient even when the bakery was busy, and the staff moved through orders quickly. Prices sit a bit higher than older style Flushing bakeries, but the tradeoff is cleaner presentation, more modern flavor combinations, and consistently fresh looking cakes. For a modern bakery stop in Flushing, Shakalaka delivers on quality and visual appeal.
