If you dont want to work there.. dont work there.. ive seen these ladies ridicule old ladies because they asked for extra napkins. Ive been going here everyday for the past year. They started bagging up my coffees with brown paper bags and not closing the coffees tightly.. Sometimes it leaks and the bag breaks while im walking home.. I started grabbing the cup holders but they told me today i cant take it because i only have 2 coffees. I explained to them that the bag rips but they tell me no. Do they not understand there are 10 other bakeries around the neighborhood? Basically bad customer service. The bread is decent but once in a while you get some bad bread. But it is a chinese place some nothing you can do. See attached. Disgusting.

When you visit Chinatown or Flushing often, Chinese bakeries become such a staple. They're a convenient and quick stop that provide a quick bite or snack, more often breakfast for me. And even though there are loads of sweets and breads to choose from, don't knock the savory stuff they carry too! Over the years, after trying my favorite items (definitely haven't tried everything that they carry) from different bakeries, I like certain items from specific bakeries and will even stop into several bakeries if I need my fix. Quick note that Fay Da is cash only! Hot milk tea (with sugar) is usually something I grab from most bakeries that I visit, it's a very familiar beverage to me and most places can't really mess it up. Like bubble tea places, you can tell them to adjust the amount of sugar but you have to specify, (they'll assume regular if you don't say anything). There are cases with steamed buns and puff pastries (mostly savory items) at the end on the left at this location and if you're on the run, a warm meat and veg bun or warm bbq pork bun hits the spot. There's usually a good amount of dough on these but it's a bao after all so it's expected. Sometimes they'll sell out of specific steamed buns and some good secondary options include the vegetable bun or the chicken bun. For puff pastries, I'd recommend the curry beef puff and roast pork puff. I will admit a different bakery has my favorite curry beef puff but this is a close second! Other favorites include the sponge cake (they're wrapped in a way where it looks like it's in a cup almost), pineapple bread, hot dog buns, the list goes on. If you're feeling adventurous, reading the labels can help you make a call if you want to try something new. I personally tend to avoid the open sandwiches and wraps since those aren't appealing to me though other folks get them so it's hard to say. They also have egg tarts which are not bad. I will note that the crust of these are not as layered, (more solid like a pie crust) so it's great if you like this consistency but not so much if you like flaky. This comes down to preference, so personally it's not my go to for egg tarts. If you go in the morning, you'll see that staff will refresh the supply outside so there's some turnover and items are fairly fresh which is great. Fay Da Bakery is a chain that's been around for quite some time and it's quite credible. They have locations all over so would definitely recommend trying it out if you're in the area or near their other locations!

Fay Da Bakery is one of our favorite Hong Kong style bakeries in NYC due to its variety with reasonable price. The interior decor is bright and wide-spaced. Their pastries weren't the best but decent enough when we were craving for an Asian taste. We love their savory sandwiches and pineapple bun with red bean. It's perfect for a quick breakfast or light lunch.

They are still open, take out only. They still have a variety of baked goods, fried fish and chicken buns, those with ham &egg and the traditional char sui bao and other well known baked goods. Prices are very good. The food is fresh. There's a sister shop on Mott St. in Chinatown.

There is a variety of affordable snacks at this bakery as well as drinks. Some are delicious and others are not to my liking, so obviously it will be a hit or miss but my favorite are their steamed buns. Omg they're so soft with delicious fillings like mushroom and egg custard. They're less than $3 so very affordable which I like. They have a $10 cash minimum but honestly there are so many things you can buy that you won't have any trouble reaching that minimum. A classic bakery all around NYC and I'll always be a fan.

Only had the milk tea from here so I won't comment on the bread. The milk tea was 3.75, which is an exceptional price, but was almost a warning sign. If something is too cheap, it might be too good to be true. As suspected it was, the tea was insanely milked down and sugared down. The tea had little to no flavour, and there wasn't enough ice to keep it cold for more than 30 minutes. Overall super disappointing.

Fay Da Bakery always reminds me of my childhood - when I would go with my grandparents to pick up pastries and drinks after dim sum on weekends. I recently dropped by to grab their iced Horlicks drink with my sister (hou lap hak in Cantonese). They make it sweet and it pairs well with their fresh pastries. Our drinks were prepared very quickly. They only accept cash as payment. Currently, due to COVID, they only allow 5 customers at a time in the store and require masks. They have a variety of pastries and breads available for you to choose from. Their prices are pretty cheap compared to other bakeries in Flushing, so if you're looking for a quick snack and a coffee/tea then check out this place!

One of the best known old school, HK style bakeries in Flushing. A lot of choices with cakes, cookies, and drinks. I always get some egg tarts, hot dog buns, and coffee. The place is clean and service was quick, I definitely recommend Fay Da.

I will go straight and say, this cheesecake is a must have. It's like a marriage between cheesecake, and a fluffy cloud and what do you get? The lightest, fluffiest cheesecake ever. Delicious, so much that I ate half of the cake by myself! What can I say it's unique and delicious.

To start this spot has a wide array of yummy looking items to chose from. They had the famous Japanese cheesecake and also a matcha version also. The prices are in my option very decent. They have sweet selections and savory selections. There were a couple of tables around that you could get the items to stay. Also, beverages are sold here. Hot drinks and smoothies.

I stopped in to Fay Da to pick up a couple treats for the next morning. Overall, it's a lot like other Chinese bakeries. Fairly good selection, decent prices, and good for satisfying a sweet tooth, or a savory one! I got the pork bun and taro bun. The taro bin wasn't too notable, and the pork bun was as expected. Overall, it's just a good neighborhood bakery.

So admittedly, my original plan had been to stop at Yeh's, my longtime Flushing treats go-to, especially for its confusingly named 'Boston Cream Pie.' Confusing 'cause it consists of fluffy spongecake layered with a light, whipped, not overly sweet cream filling; not the yellow butter cake layered with vanilla custard and topped with chocolate glaze that you may be thinking of. But I digress... The point of all this is that I didn't intend to stop here, but fate in the form of making Yeh's an inconvenient schlep, had other ideas: Anyway, have been to other Fay Da locations and certainly don't hate this chain. I view it sort of like Dunkin' Donuts. As in it doesn't totally suck and is even satisfying if you can find a favorite item or two to rely on. For me that item is most definitely the Japanese-style Cheesecake. Impossibly fluffy, it really does mimic what you'd imagine a cloud would taste like. On this visit, I tried the Matcha version of this for the first time and couldn't really detect any tea flavor; there was just some sort subtle, indistinguishable note that I didn't care for. Next time, I think I'll stick with the classic rendition. It was early evening, so the selection was pretty picked over, but we managed to snag some Mango Mochi, which we promptly forgot about deep in the recesses of our fridge. (read: we never wound up trying it.) Hubby did try a Coconut Bun of some kind that he wasn't into at all. Bottom line: Not surprisingly, this location is as hit or miss as the others I've been to. And there are plenty of Chinese bakeries that are more creative, not to mention delicious. But if you stick with the Cheesecake, it's unlikely you'll go too terribly wrong.

We walked into a no frills space where the prices are among the lowest we have found for fresh baked goods in the area, with most items running under two dollars. The black sesame and red bean buns are the items most worth seeking out, and they have earned repeat visits from people who plan their trips to Flushing around stopping here. The black sesame in particular has a depth of flavor that the more common sweet bun fillings do not match. We also tried the taro bread, which is soft with a smooth filling, another reliable choice for anyone who enjoys that flavor profile. The potato salad bun is a more unusual option that has developed its own following among regulars. The buns are individually wrapped for freshness, and the overall quality on the baked goods side is consistent and genuinely good for the price. The savory side of the menu covers ham and egg sandwiches, rice rolls, and dim sum options that function as a quick meal rather than a destination dining experience. We found results there more variable, and the baked goods are where the bakery is most dependable. For an affordable, no frills bakery stop in Flushing that delivers on value and a few standout buns, Rainbow Bakery is a reliable choice. We would come back specifically for the black sesame bun and keep our expectations calibrated on the savory side.

There's a lot of bakeries who have basic or plain savory breads and a lot more sweet ones. I prefer savory over sweet so this was a nice stop for me. Not sure if it was worth the price compared to going to a nearby food stall, but it was enough to hold me over a couple of hours in the morning. It can get packed and busy in here so it's really more of a grab and go type of bakery.

I walked into a simple, functional space with shelves and cases filled with buns, cakes, and packaged items meant more for quick pickup than sitting or browsing for long. The roasted pork buns and BBQ style buns were some of the most commonly picked items. I tried one and the bread was soft with a savory filling that leaned slightly sweet depending on the batch. Egg tarts are also part of the regular rotation, along with red bean buns and sponge cakes that stick to a more traditional bakery profile. The steamed buns section was a big part of the appeal here, especially for someone looking for quick, inexpensive food like pork buns or plain buns to take away. Prices are generally low compared to more modern bakeries in Flushing, which was a major reason I stopped in. Service was quick and straightforward, with my order handled fast even during a busy hour. The bakery has a high turnover of items throughout the day, so freshness can vary depending on timing, and selection is best earlier when the trays are more stocked. It is very much a grab and go spot rather than a place designed for dining in or browsing slowly. Overall, Maxin Bakery is a budget friendly Flushing bakery for basic Chinese baked goods and buns, best for quick snacks like pork buns, red bean buns, and egg tarts rather than specialty or dessert focused items.

I walked into a clean, well lit space designed for quick selection rather than lingering, and the display cases were filled with brightly decorated cakes and pastries that looked consistently fresh. The mango based cakes are the most consistent thing here. I tried one and found it light, creamy, and built around fresh fruit rather than overly heavy frosting, which made it easy to finish even after a full meal. The matcha cake also worked well, leaning more milky than bitter, with a soft sponge that held its structure without feeling dry. The pork floss cakes are one of the more interesting savory sweet options, and they came out better than I expected since they did not go overboard on sweetness. The croissants and egg tarts are solid supporting items rather than the main reason to come. The croissant I had was flaky with a noticeable butter layer, and the egg tart was best eaten warm as the custard tightens up when cold. The purple rice desserts are heavier but work if I want something more filling and texturally different from the fruit cakes. Service was generally efficient even when the bakery was busy, and the staff moved through orders quickly. Prices sit a bit higher than older style Flushing bakeries, but the tradeoff is cleaner presentation, more modern flavor combinations, and consistently fresh looking cakes.
