Pleasantly surprised when I saw a "Buy Two Get One Free" sign near the door so I was able to get three buns for the price of two! The almond top one is quite similar to a pineapple bun...but um the flavor isn't as strong? It's not bad but it's not something I'll crave. Also picked up a lemon bun (the drizzling of lemon creme on top seems to be inconsistent; some have less, some have more) so we'll see how that tastes. read more

This is the place named after what Topanga said when she first saw Corey naked. If you had to stand in line for 30 mins to get served, it'd be "Boreyodang." If the servers called you a motherf***er while taking your money, it'd be "Sworeyodang." And if you were able to trade sexual favours for baked items, it'd be "Wh*reyodang." This underrated and amazibg spot is easily my favorite location of this chain Bakery. I'm fairly certain that some of the negative reviews are written by rivals. Yelp is nowhere near as "protected against fake reviews" as it thinks, or advertises. I know so many business owners that write masses of reviews for their own business (and some are not filtered), and even masses of negative reviews of rival businesses. I think that may be happening here. There are ways around it, which makes me wonder how much we - the customers and Yelpers - and the website itself, really care. If their cakes were mouldy, they'd be Sporeyodang. If Margaret Thatcher owned them, they'd be Toryodang. And if they were Argentine, they'd be Chimichurryodang. Anyway I love this Koryodang. It's brand new and big and spacious with absolutely lovely service. They make their signature Taro teas and the Milk Tea is better than the other locations. I love hanging out here and tasting some of their baked goods, although others are overrated - such as all the sponge cakes... but that can be said about many korean-style bakeries. If I were a Korean I wouldn't make a Korea in sponge cakes. If the girl behind the counter was sleeping on the job, it'd be Snoryodang. And if they were actually killing customers in the back and serving them in Red Bean Buns, it'd be Goryodang. And if the bathroom was for more than just #1 and #2, it'd be Gloryholedang. I find it pretty sad that the ratings are so bad when this place is considerably better than a lot of the rivals. But then people are entitled to their own opinions. I just hope they're legit. And if there's a 45 year old guy trying to hit on the 17 year old Asian girls (and boys), that's Predatoryodang. Even if the girls (and boys) are willing, that's still Statutoryodang. And if Billie Jean shows up and shows you a photo and his eyes are like mine, I refuse to pay any child support until I'm shown evidence of fatherhood on live TV after being dragged on Mauryodang. read more

Saw this place had opened while just wandering around Flushing, so decided to give it a try. It's a Korean bakery and cafe located next to a new Korean supermarket. They had some pastries that looked okay, although they seemed a bit "rough around the edges" instead of the delicate Korean pastries I'm used to seeing. Price was similar to Paris Baguette. Around $2.25-2.50 per pastry. I tried an almond soboro bread with a crispy top (like a Chinese pineapple bun) and found it to be just okay. Just as it looked, it lacked a finesse that I expect from an Asian bakery, especially a Korean bakery. It was surprisingly dry and sort of stale on the inside. The top was pretty good, but definitely not as good as an average pineapple bun. The only almond was in the form of a dab of paste at the bottom. Next I tried the custard bun. Again, the bread component itself just felt heavy-handed and lacking a certain "je ne sais quoi". The citrus gel on top tasted artificial. The cream inside was a nice texture, but had an overpowering flavor of vanilla extract. This place also sells coffee and tea, as well as boba drinks and bing su (Korean shaved ice). I walked in thinking I'd try the bing su, but it was around $13. Either it's just really pricey shaved ice or it's a portion meant to be shared. I figured I'd wait until I had people with me so we could try it together. The breads I tried were worth around 2 out of 5 stars. I'm giving them a third star as benefit of the doubt that their drinks and shaved ice are decent. If all you want are nice Asian pastries, go to pretty much any other Asian bakery and get something better. I'm not a fan of Paris Baguette or Tous Le Jours, but you'll find better bread there than at Koryodang. read more

A very spacious cafe with outlets. It's a good place to sit and study or kill time. It's brightly lit and pristine, so overall it gives you a comfortable feeling. There is also free WiFi and a restroom for customers. They have a good selection of breads, cakes, and cookies and a supermarket in the back but I only got a chai tea latte. It tasted very bland and barely had any chai tea flavor and I'm not particularly excited to try anything else from here given the other reviews. read more

Ok bakery and cafe in Flushing. Stopped in for bubble tea and it was pretty good. They just don't have as good a selection of it and as far as "bubbles", well, it's just tapioca balls here. They also don't have such a great selection of baked goods either. For a Korean bakery to not have green tea mochi roll cake is kind of a let down. Counter service is courteous and it is a tad over priced. $10 for two taro bubble teas is a tad excessive. Not the best bakery in the area but at least the taro was nice and refreshing. read more

Pretty new location located in front of the police station on Union Street. This Koryodang is shared with the organic grocery, Sprout, next door. The cafe is conveniently located away from all the traffic of Main Street so it's less crowded than Paris Baguette or Tous le Jour. The bakery goods here are pretty good, less variety compared to the bigger chains, and somewhat cheaper price range for a Korean bakery. My favorite breads would have to be the matcha bread with red bean inside. It has a very starchy texture but I enjoyed it. I also recommend getting their almond cookies in the plastic container. They are decently priced but very addictive! Koryodang also sells the usual croquettes and toasts with eggs. The French bread looks very appetizing! There are also various drinks but have only tried one of their teas. Cashiers are friendly, but because sometimes business is slow at later hours, it seems they are a little distracted. I wouldn't blame them. They have a minimum on cards, so best to bring cash if paying under $5. read more

I used to swear by this place for their delicious and not-too-sweet cakes back in my college days. Korean cake, I knew, always tasted better and was more well-made than many other kinds of Asian made cake, for example one made in a Fay Da bakery, and it was true. This most recent cake I bought was the smallest size (6") for a special discounted price of $20. It was a special occasion, so I just pointed to the picturesque fruit-topped cake I wanted and thought nothing of it when the person at the cashier told me it was mocha flavored. Upon tasting this cake at home, the flavor was indeed mocha, or rather a strong coffee flavor with its typical not-too-sweetness. However, I found the cake to be dry and spongy. Perhaps I'm spoiled from eating eggless Indian bakery-made cake and it being the same level of not-sweetness while also being super moist. I have to say though, that I was disappointed, so much that almost half of it has gone to waste because nobody in my party felt particularly inclined to go for seconds/leftover cake. I can also recall tasting an eggshell in my cake. My recommendation is that this bakery please take better care in the future to avoid adding eggshells to your cake ingredients. I haven't returned to Koryodang in a number of years, and I have to say it looks like I haven't been missing out. I had a more tasty and satisfying cake experience at Paris Baguette, where I'm more likely to return for my next bakery run. read more

I was in Flushing the other day and had a craving for some Korean baked goods. After seeing Koryodang on Union Street I decided to stop in and check them out. Most items were buy two and get one free which seemed like a good deal. I tried the corn mayo biscuit, a pumpkin bun and a green bean bun. I really liked the corn mayo biscuit. It was sweet and savory at the same time. The green bean bun was okay, but definitely not a sweet as the red bean buns I have tried. The pumpkin bun had a texture similar to a rice cake. It was not sweet at all and tasted a little bland for me. Another time I tried some of their custard cream and cream buns and they were pretty good. I would give them 3.5 stars. If you are looking to satisfy your sweet tooth I would recommend the cream filled buns. They are really good value for what you pay. Everything else is a hit or miss. read more

I am surprised that there's still so few reviews of this place. I hope they are still in business after my last visit. I like the decent and variety of the bread offered at this place. There are many different types of flavors baked, including red bean, matcha, white bean, etc. I have to admit that none of them taste like anything the next day, but for the moment when you bought it, they are decent. Pros They have good deals for old(made yesterday or so) goods and things that you can't find in tous le jours or paris baguette(okinawa bread, mochi loaf bread, black rice red bean bun etc) Cons Most of the breads without cream or redbeans, do not have the right amount of sweetness and very very very bland. If breads are dense, heavy, and described as 'chewy', those often go hard than being chewy. Cashers hardly smile(it depends on cashers but other two korean bakeries near from here offer better accommodation) I recommend classic red bean buns or simple cream buns(don't pick up those if those are on sale old buns in here won't taste great). I think this place was new. Interior was nice but staffs need better training. I ordered a small iced cafe mocha but it took them long time to make. I was the only one waiting for the drink. They wasn't busy. My car was waiting outside and I told them just refund me and I got to go. But the staff refused and finally when I got it and it didn't taste as good. Nice place to study and hangout in Fluhsing. Very spacious and clean, they also have free wifi. I like bubble tea cappuccino, the best ever.

There are hundreds of ways to brew coffee and each one has value, a simple cup of drip is straightforward and honest and an espresso can be like a slap in the face to help wake you up. A cappuccino, thought, is warm and comforting Like a hug from an old friend. The espresso is bitter, but the sweet, velvety milk makes it smooth and balanced, when you sip it slowly, the foam melts in your mouth and the flavor of the coffee lingers on your tongue. I was surprised to see this place open up because I saw a lot of Koryodang locations closing throughout the years, including the old location on Union Street. It's clean and spacious- perfect environment to enjoy a coffee and chat with a friend or for working on a project on your laptop. It's got your standard Korean baked goods and an extensive beverage menu. The staff, especially the manager (I assumed because he wasn't in uniform like the other employees) was very friendly and accomodating. I found that my Americano was a little bitter for my taste and asked if they can add milk. The employee not only added milk but he frothed (is that a word?) it first and replaced my lipstick stained lid. I'll definitely be visiting again! read more

The crab sandwich is pretty good here! It's also super cheap ($5.99). I also like the pastries, and there is a great variety here ranging from red bean donuts to traditional Korean bakery snacks. This place is right next to the Sprout market, and there are many tables here so it's pretty spacious and good for large groups. Overall, recommend! read more
