I was really excited to try this place, but I was a bit disappointed. My order of 5 cakes took well over 20 minutes and then they gave one if my cakes away to someone else and I had to exchange for another one thats been sitting there. When I was there it was only one person so maybe that was why it was a delay? However, onto the cakes. It lacked flavor and the texture was off. It was not as cakes or sp9ngey as I thought it was when I tried it out the box. And you have to eat it fresh! I saved one for the next day and I basically had to toss it unfortunately. Hopefully they test their recipes and in the future it will be better.

Located inside of Tangram, this food stall is a convenient spot for wheel cakes. I swung by here after dinner to try their red bean and custard wheel cake as well as their strawberry lime sparkling drink. I thought that it was both okay. I wish the wheel cake had a bit more filling and was a bit less bready. I also felt that the drink was very heavy on the syrup and overly sweet.

Great place to satisfy your sweet tooth! Absolutely devoured my money cake! Staff was also very friendly and helpful when helping me choose what flavor I wanted. This is also located in the mall on the upper floor of the food court!

Absolutely the best Imagawayaki filling I've had anywhere, such a light crispy shell and generous portions for filling. Definitely try as many flavors as you can as they are so fun and different. Taro pork floss is probably my favorite but the corn cheese, Ferrero Rocher, Thai tea with boba and red bean were also delicious. Service was friendly but it's hard to order on the electronic screen.

Friendly staff and easy pickup in the Tangram food court! Haven't tried their famous cakes sadly but got their Osmanthus Milk Tea which was quite good. I got lowered sugar (50%), but the drink was still quite sweet so I may go even lower next time. Will have to try their cakes in the future! In terms of ambience, it's located in the food court, so you have to prowl a bit for seating, but is generally a nice spot with restrooms nearby.

This is what we used to eat in Taiwan, so the warm cakes with taro, red beans, and custard bring tears to my eyes. Not too sweet and made fresh. Awesome. Must try.

This little cakes were a pleasant surprise. The top and bottom cake part is crispy and has dare I say a little crunch to it. I thought that one of the fun things here is that you can choose the filling that's inside. I ordered the classic custard one, along with a mango custard cake. The service was very quick, all of about five minutes or so as the attendant prepared the cake batter fresh and cooked it right in front of me. This place is located inside of a small shopping mall and there's ample seating nearby. The cakes were delicious and the custard was perfect consistency, almost like a firm pudding, but not too thick at all. I can't wait to go back and get some more!

Very unique spot in flushing! I picked custard but want to come back to try taro and other flavors. The person making each order repeatedly for hours is amazing. He needs a raise! There a lot of large to go orders and the bubble tea is pre made. I want to try the taro slush when I have the calories! Seems like a family business which is nice!

3.5 stars, interesting concept - freshly made egg batter mini cakes that are circular shaped to resemble money. Like golden coins. They smell and taste good but the fillings can be hit or miss. There are sweet and savory varieties on the menu. But they do not travel as well as I had hoped. I was not going far but as the counter person advised, these needed to be consumed within 30 minutes. I can see why. Two of the three cakes I bought, actually separated before I got to my destination. It literally was not closed. Top and bottom were two separate pieces. I don't think it was supposed to do that. It was my Oreo custard cake. Still good taste wise. - Taro money cake remained intact during transit, it was slightly crispy on the outside (edges) and soft on the inside and towards the center of the cake. The taro was a creamy texture. Very good flavor. - Potato, bacon and cheese was my savory option. It was savory indeed. It was almost a mashed potato center with bits of bacon and cheese. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be smoother or more texture. Either way it was savory. No complaints here. It was fun to try this new version of cake. I'd return to sample other flavors but the pricing is a little steep for the size. It is another novelty idea. But I might stick to waffles or egglets for this price point.

Thought was just okay. The custard I wish was a bit sweeter and the mango more mangoey.

When I got to the location they didn't have much of a selection at the moment . I ended up going with the Oreo custard cake it was so warm with a nice and soft Oreo inside . Such a great end to a meal we had earlier . First time ever at tangram mall and I loved it just wish there was more stores

I love wheel cakes/imagawayaki and was excited to see this stall opening up. The only other stall that I know of is Bearin Wheel Pie in Landmark Quest Mall. There is a 25% discount with Yelp check in, which they honored. The service was quick and friendly. I did not wait more than 5 minutes for my order to be ready. I wanted to try chicken pesto, but they ran out of all the savory flavors (it was ~5:30 PM on a weekday), and I was informed that they might be switching out the chicken pesto for the chicken corn flavor, so get it while you can! The Matcha Red Bean had a crisp exterior with black sesame on one side, which added some extra flavor. It was packed with filling. The matcha was light in flavor (not even a hint of bitterness), so it was a bit overpowered by the red bean. The Custard with Mini Taro Balls had a decent balance of thick creaminess from the custard and soft bounciness from the mini taro balls. Flavorwise, it was not sweet, though could use more custard flavor. Not my personal preference. I only opted to get this to replace my savor choice since this was marked as a best seller. I do like that the exteriors stayed crisp (I took these home so they were eaten about half an hour later). Overall, the custard-y fillings could use more flavor. I do want to go back to try a savory wheel cake, but the sweet fillings are not for me.

Matcha Custard Wheel Cake: $3.60 ($3.92 with tax). Cut in half. Soft opening price.

BLUF: OK; the better of the two dedicated places to get Taiwanese wheel cakes in Downtown Flushing. Money Cake offers variations on Taiwanese wheel cakes -- pancake-like batter shells shaped into 3-inch diameter wheels, with sweet or savory fillings. We visited Money Cake's stall during their soft opening, when their prices were discounted by 20%. We ordered: - Matcha & Custard ($3.60 soft opening price; $3.92 with tax): lightly flavored, like most Chinese desserts. The custard was lightly sweet, and the matcha didn't seem to have bitter notes. There was a pumpkin (?) seed in the custard / matcha mix. - Potato, Cheese, Bacon ($4.20 soft opening price; $4.57 with tax): this tasted like a knish in wheel cake format, due to the reconstituted potatoes, and was saltier than the other wheel cakes due to the bacon bits. - Matcha & Red Bean ($3.60 soft opening price; $3.92 with tax): this was the most flavorful of the three wheel cakes we tried. Money Cake does a few things better than its competitor Bearin Wheel Pie: 1. Money Cake has smoother custard fillings. 2. Money Cake's wheel cakes use a larger diameter for fillings -- about 3 inches versus about 2.5 inches. 3. Order fulfillment is much quicker, because Money Cake has a larger team. Money Cake's light custard flavors may be amenable to East Asian audiences, but a broader audience might want more flavorful custards. I would like to see the option for a stronger matcha flavor, for example. Overall, it feels like Money Cake falls slightly short of expectations set by the phrase imprinted onto each of its wheel cakes: "一分錢一分貨", meaning "you get what you pay for." Getting a knish might be more cost-effective than getting Money Cake's "Potato, Cheese, Bacon" wheel cake. I'm not sure I would try Money Cake's upcoming pizza series, since it might be cheaper to get an actual slice of pizza.

They pour the dessert in front of you and put a sand glass on top. Once sand glass is done, so is the dessert and you can even rest a spoon on top. The dessert is very smooth, barely a solid, and its ginger taste is very strong- which I like. Strong ginger but pairs well with the milk and good amount of sugar. Not only are they opened later than a lot of dessert places that I have found in flushing but their desserts are also great! This time around my friends and I got the Fresh Coconut Pudding with Golden Crisp Rice and it did not disappoint. Firstly, the pudding in itself was not overly sweet but had a strong coconut flavor. The texture was perfect in the sense that the pudding wasn't too hard inside and the golden rice crisp was a delicious finish on top. It added a nice crunch to the bite and also gave like a toasted coconut feel when tasted together with the pudding. The second thing we got was like a durian mango sago. I am a big fan of durian so I really enjoyed this dessert. The durian was perfectly sweet and custard and the mangos were sweet but tangy giving the dessert a little more depth. Although I only got two desserts this time around, I do want to point out that their shaved ice is not something that you should miss out on either. I have had many of the flavors and have never been disappointed. It is super fluffy and milky and just melts as soon as it hits your tongue. I walked into a space that immediately feels different from a typical bubble tea shop because coconut is clearly the focus rather than just another menu option. The shop has a clean, bright setup that matches the fresh, tropical vibe of the desserts, and the display makes it easy to see what is available before you even order. The menu revolves around fresh coconut in all kinds of forms, from drinks and puddings to shaved ice and desserts. I started with one of their coconut-based drinks, and what stood out right away was how natural everything tasted. The sweetness felt like it was coming from the ingredients themselves rather than being buried under syrups. The fresh coconut flavor was clean, refreshing, and surprisingly light. Even though many of the drinks are creamy, they never felt heavy, and the coconut water base in some options kept the drinks from becoming cloying. The mango coconut pudding was easily one of the highlights. The combination of ripe mango and coconut worked incredibly well together, with the fruit adding brightness while the coconut pudding provided a smooth, creamy texture. The pudding itself had a delicate consistency that felt somewhere between a dessert and a drink, making it easy to finish quickly. The coconut pudding drinks are worth ordering if it is your first visit because they showcase what makes the shop unique, and the layers of coconut cream and fruit come together in a way that feels thoughtful and well balanced. What I also appreciated was the variety. While coconut is the common thread throughout the menu, there are enough combinations with fruits, taro, and other ingredients that it never feels repetitive. The shaved ice options add a colder, more textured option, and the coconut jelly toppings give you something to chew on between sips. Everything is made fresh to order, which can mean a bit of a wait during busier periods, but the quality makes it understandable. The drinks come out looking as appealing as they taste, and the presentation adds to the overall experience. The staff were friendly and helpful when explaining the menu, especially since some of the items may be unfamiliar if you have never visited a coconut-focused dessert shop before. They took the time to walk through the different options and offered recommendations based on what I was in the mood for. Service felt welcoming, and even when the shop got busy, the team managed the flow without making the experience feel rushed. Good Coconut feels like a refreshing alternative to the standard dessert and bubble tea spots. The ingredients taste fresh, the coconut flavor is genuinely front and center, and the desserts manage to be satisfying without feeling overly sweet. If you enjoy coconut, this is the kind of place that can quickly become a repeat stop, offering a menu that rewards exploration and delivers a clean, refreshing take on coconut-based treats.
