Came for the hype and left with mixed feelings. I ordered the original cheese cake and the Jasmine dream milk tea. We were told that the cheesecake tastes best when left in the fridge for 2 hours. So I had a sip of my tea first. The Jasmine dream milk tea comes with a "cloud" that had a meringue-like texture that was torched. The tea was not as fragrant or floral as the competitions nearby. Taste was lacking. The cake was mid. I took it home and waited. With my timer going off, we tried the cake. It wasn't dense or sweet or fluffy. I guess it just existed. An expensive cute treat. Reminds me of a denser sponge cake with a tint of cheesecake taste. Expect fast and good service with helpful staff. Cakes sell out! Get there at least an hour before closing. The place feels like a rush renovation. There are holes in the wall with exposed studs. I guess putting on some spackle and painting it was too much. Even though Mr Bear is a fluffy cheesecake bakery, my favorite menu item is their creme brûlées. They aren't overly sweet and are buy one get one half off. If you wanted to try their cheesecakes I would recommend their coconut lava flavor, but put it in the fridge for a few hours. To me, it tastes better when it's cold. I got the bamboo matcha and the mango pomelo drink. The bamboo matcha was interesting with a scoop of ice cream, both drinks had nice and pretty presentation! I also ordered the regular cheesecake which I honestly got flavor fatigue and texture overload after a while. First 2 slices were nice light and airy, anything after I should have just preserved for later lol. The service was so friendly, and the worker answered all my questions. They had samples of the new release lava cheesecakes, but they were sadly sold out of the full sizes. Luckily they let me have a few extra pieces because of that lol! To start off, asian style cheesecakes are my favorite. Mr bears cheesecake is slightly different from most asian/Japanese cheesecakes. It's like a hybrid between a sponge cake and cheesecake so it's more airy. The cheese taste isn't that strong and it's more of an eggy aftertaste. Because it's so airy you can easily finish the whole cake in one sitting so be careful. They also pack it with a spoon and knife so you can literally just eat it anywhere. Their cheesecake is slightly smaller than other asian cheesecakes though but just as expensive so be warned. I only had the original flavor but my friend tried the chocolate one and said it was slightly dry. Mightve been because it was sitting out longer or because of the chocolate. Apart from their cheesecakes, I tried their osmanthus oolong cloud drink and that was really good. It's slightly cheaper than most of the fancy bubble tea places in flushing so I would recommend but I think its just as good. read more

I love this new place that has the Asian style cheesecakes. I have been to other Japanese chains with these type of cotton cheesecake and this one was pretty good. The first time I came at 4 pm all of the cakes were sold out. The cakes are baked fresh daily so when I came by around 11:30 they had just come out. The smell inside the cafe was incredible. Sadly they do not have the other flavors yet like the chocolate or strawberry. I tried to he original which was super soft and jiggly. Not too eggy. I actually added some jam to the side with my cake which made it even better. They actually remind me of the souffle pancake more than regular cheesecake and not as dense as the New York style. Since it was made fresh they recommend that you let the cake cool down a bit before trying. The only thing is that the size is good to share with 3-4 people. The cake is on the small side so not for a big gathering. It also comes in a cute orange bag that can be reused. They also have cloud lattes with a large foamy top for extra flavor. There is not much seating inside except for a few chairs and no tables. The cafe has a bear theme because of their logo so you can take pictures along their cute teddy bear wall while you wait. Staff was polite when ordering and explained the process. Sometimes they have promos because they are related with the restaurant next door. Finally got to try this place last week. There was no line, which was nice, and I ordered both the original and ube cheesecake. The staff were super friendly and even helped me cut both cakes in half and pack them separately so I could share each flavor with my sister--really appreciated that! As for the cakes themselves: The ube didn't taste like ube at all to me. It had some other flavor I couldn't quite place, but it definitely wasn't what I expected as I expected a strong taste of ube. When I had visited the few times, the back had about two-three employees making the products, one stationed at the register, and one on the right to pack for customer retrieval. They are trained to smile and service you professionally. Getting to the menu; The main product is the Japanese Style cotton cheese cake; which are baked fresh in store. Comes in three different flavors: Original, Chocolate, and Strawberry all priced at $19 currently. They also have milk tea and other dessert but I haven't had the chance to try. Now upon picking up then, the employees would recommend to put in the fridge for two-three hours for best taste experience. Personally, I tried both ways and come to the below conclusions: When you have it warm, it has that fresh-out-of-the-oven taste; at this point every bite is decadent and it's soft and fluffy with that residual heat and fragrance from the baking. This would definitely be perfect with a nice cup of tea or a light drink. Now having it as recommended as chilled, it becomes slightly more firmer; personally, I don't feel too much of a difference hereonout, and the taste now becomes similar to their competitor's offerings and the flavor is not as pronounced.
