LA Galbi
Ashley H.

I'm a big fan of this place and very surprised on the low reviews. When I come here, the place is always empty with 1-2 tables (also surprising but I'm thankful I don't have to wait). Service is very quick and friendly. I always get the LA Galbi + pork soon tofu combo. I suggest mild soon tofu soup if you cannot handle spicy. With the free banchan, white rice, this is a complete satisfying meal! I always have more than enough and take some home for the next day. For $32-$33, this is so worth it!

Really good soup and great soup combos as well. Be sure to get it either mild or hot but don't get spicy it's too much heat and you will regret it. the banchon is really good they give a bunch for the table before the entree comes in. on a cold winter day the soup hits home and is very cozy. the service is kind and helps out with picking in the menu. they even recommended the purple rice which was delicious. i'd go here again it's 10/10 A+ worth it

Check out @tofustory for some amazing, cozy, and authentic Korean food! This place is great for a hearty and tasty Korean meal that will fill you up. It's especially great for the winter time. The seafood tofu stew was absolutely amazing with mussels, tofu, crap, and shrimp. The Korean pancake was also amazing. The kimchi dumplings were also divine. I also like how they hand make the dumplings right in the store. The customer service was also really good. They were very attentive and poured a lot of love into their food. The food also comes out really quickly. It isn't too crowded or a wait to go in, and the space is large and spacious. I would definitely recommend this place for some delicious and authentic Korean food that focuses a lot on tofu. The tea that they served was also very warm and comfy, a great way to wash down the delicious and hearty meal! They have a lot of things on their menu and their spreads are really good. Rating:10/10

Great spot for authentic Korean soup and dishes. Loved their bibimbaps, my fav. Everything was flavorful and the side dishes hit. The staff members were very kind and helpful. Great space inside, can fit many people.

I've been coming here for years to satisfy my soondubu cravings. The service is always consistent, banchan is solid and food is delicious. I would say it is on par with a lot of the korean restaurants that specialize in tofu stew in the area in terms of quality & quantity of food and pricing. They have a pretty extensive menu with BBQ meat combos, apps and other entrees if you're in the mood for other Korean food but I've always defaulted to the classic beef tofu stew. The restaurant is clean and service is usually fast and friendly. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a solid Korean or tofu stew spot in Murray Hill.

3 1/2 stars. I do not recall whether I have reviewed this restaurant on here or not, but I have been coming here for some time with the family. It had been a little bit since our last time. I found the pancake to be overly fried. Too crispy. Almost burnt. The amount of little dishes seem to have shrunken. Times are hard. I was very pleased with my oyster tofu. The galbi was its usual self. The bibimbap looked good, but I did not have any of it. Our servers were very pleasant and the place looked clean per usual. Will be back next time the family requires Korean food. 3 1/2 stars. I do not recall whether I have reviewed this restaurant on here or not, but I have been coming here for some time with the family. Combination tofu bowl

Had an awesome lunch at tofu story, I pass this place every time I head to work, today I decided to stop in for some lunch. I ordered the combination tofu bowl, consist of beef, seafood, and tofu mild spicy. It was delicious, they also offer me optional white rice or purple rice. Today was my first time trying purple rice, I loved it, it was very tasty. The server mentioned it was healthier and many people ordered it instead of white rice. My bill came out to be $16 for the tofu bowl, all the side they gave were actually free, and If you like one side more the server would offer you seconds. They gave a total of 7 little portions of cold side dishes, I think this was an amazing deal. I had an enjoyed lunch today, they would definitely see me soon !

I came here with a party of 4 on a holiday. I'm glad they were open when I found out BCD on Northern closed down. We ordered the standard soondubu for everyone, along with seafood pancake and grilled squid. The grilled squid I thought was a bit too spicy for our taste. We were told it would not be spicy at all. The seafood pancake was decent. The LA galbi was tender and delicious. The only complaint I have was that one of the soondobu order came out incorrect, even though our server confirmed all of our orders before taking the order into the kitchen. It wasn't a big deal but some others could be a bit off putting by it. Nevertheless; very decent quality soondubu spot! Would likely still return in the future.

Hot tofu on a cold winter night. Can't go wrong with that comfort food. We drop into Tofu Story in Flushing. This was once called Mr Tofu, but I guess they changed owners. Ambience: clean, modern dining room, with tables that can accommodate large party of 10. Food: we ordered Galbi Tang - hot Korean short rib broth. Very heavy and rich, but oh so good. Only complaint is that it looks like they trimmed off a significant portion of the short rib meat and was mostly rib... 3/5 Beef soft tofu - comes bubbling hot. Really hits the spot! 4/5 Steamed egg - a favorite of the kids. 5/5 LA Galbi - Korean BBQ. Great flavor but portion size is noticeably smaller than other places 3/5. TL/DR: An otherwise good Korean Tofu restaurant that skimps on the portion sizes. If you are on a diet, then it's good for you, but there are other places that offer better value with the same quality.

Great spot for a comfortable meal with young kids on northern Blvd if you are craving for Korean food. Waiting staff are attentive and bring the stuff you need right away . What I love about the restaurant is the wide variety of complementary dishes. Some places only give you 3-4 different ones max . This place gives you 9 different ones and you can get refills as well! The tofu soup was very good as well. Tofu in the soup was surprising soft which I like a lot . The seafood pancake in my opinion wasn't the best I've tried as the stuff in the pancake falls out and I ve had better pancake elsewhere.

Honestly surprised by this place! Clean and quiet inside when we arrived at 7pm. We ordered: Bulgogi Bibimbap $22.95 La Galbi + Tofu soup combo $32.95 Side dishes were okay, nothing to hit home about. The bibimbap was HUGE when it arrived! It came with such a big spoon too, I love it. Remember to ask for the spicy sauce because it's not automatically included in the stone pot! The bibimbap hit the right spot on a cold windy day! The LA Galbi was marinated super well, I loved the sauce on it! Wish it was less fatty though, some pieces were like 85% fat and no meat! Overall, I liked i! Service was also quick. Would definitely come back for the bibimbap again!

Just your average Korean sundubu spot. Nothing really stood out about this place. The seating is nice and I liked how clean everything was. The service here is really spot on, the waitresses were really hospitable to our large group and we ordered a lot of food and it all came out very fast and hot. They also never stopping refilling the banchon and drinks. The sundubus were okay. One of our friends ordered mild but he felt like it was much spicier than mild, strange for being the lowest spice level on the menu. Our friends thought that their bibimbaps and japchae were much better than their tofu stew. To sum it up, TofuStory has quality service and decent food. What's also a perk about this place is that they have a dessert spot right next door and is accessible through a hallway.

I also appreciate that the music isn't too loud, so we could actually talk and hear each other while dining. Everything feels clean, polished, and inviting. The staff were incredibly cordial and attentive. They had the initiative to check on us from time to time and refill our water without us having to ask. I also love how generous they are with the sides! My favorite dish here is definitely the Galbi. Every bite took me back to Japan. I know this is Korean cuisine, but the Galbi reminded me so much of the one I've had in Japan, which is probably why I enjoyed it even more. We ordered the group meal with Bimbimao, and we also really loved the chicken wings. I just wish the wings were a little bigger and that the serving was more generous! We also tried their rice wine and Kuku cocktails, and both were delicious. They definitely don't skimp on the drinks! I'll definitely keep coming back. This was already my fourth time bringing a group of friends and family here, and I can see myself doing it again. At this point, I'm hoping they'll consider having a loyalty or discount card for regular customers like me!

I am used to the location in Long Island and i am obsessed with the kimchi, and the kimchi here is also just as good! The service was super good, our water cups were NEVER empty!! They were speedy and there was always somebody ready to help which i appreciate. They refilled the kimchi and the other side dishes too which i loved- because the side dishes were all so good! We thought the pork galbi was not that good though. They didn't have the usual char to it and they didn't give much fat/lean pieces, just purely lean pieces, so it was a bit dry. But the soondubu and mackerel were amazing! It was perfectly tender and crispy, with the right amount of fat. Paired perfectly with the kimchi. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

There's 2 waitresses and one busser, but I felt only one of the waitress was pulling the weight, while the other (maybe she's the owner?) mostly chatted with one of the table customers. I felt bad for our waitress she was so busy with fulfilling takeouts + dine ins and the dishes require a lot of servicing table side. She couldn't catch 1 second of break :( Food wise, we got their 2 person combo of spicy pork gamja tang and spicy rice cake which came with the steamed egg. Everything was so good, egg was extra fluffy, rice cake was delicious and the meat came right off the bones. They take a good variety of side dishes. My partner wasn't a fan of the gamja tang but due to feeling it's a hassle to eat meat with bones, so those who fee sim may agree. We also asked for the fried rice after we finished the gamja tang, for 2 servings I think it was $4.75 or something. I really enjoyed it but I guess I like scorched rice, also something my partner doesn't enjoy so those we feel sim just note. Environment feels very old school, well worn. Feels cozy. It can get loud very quickly on a Saturday night as this place seems to be a hit for large parties. Since the wait staff is short handed, expect a bit of a wait for things. Don't come if you're in a rush.

We were a group of 6 and came to Daori for some Korean BBQ. They're located on a residential street but next to several other stores and restaurant. The pork was indeed very good. My only comment was that the waitress seemed very stressed and frazzled. She was stressing about cooking the food and some of it was getting overcooked but also our banchan didn't get refilled because of it. Their English is also not great so there were times when we had a tough time communicating. I would say overall the food was good and we had a good time. It was also very reasonably priced.
