Honestly surprised at how good the food is here. One of my favorite dishes is cumin lamb noodle and when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to visit. I confess that once I realized how big of a chain this place is in NY I had my hesitations but wow the food proved me wrong and I repent. The noodles are fresh and hand pulled, great texture and bite. The spice is real though so be prepared! We also ordered the lamb dumplings in soup, which was a pleasant surprise with a nice acidic punch in the broth. The dumpling skin is a bit on the thicker side, which matches the noodles so makes sense. There are notes around the restaurant saying that the food is meant to be enjoyed spicy and I'd agree. Their unique selling point is the chili oil and seasonings so enjoy it as intended if you can. Also you can order at the kiosk if the employees seem to be busy and don't acknowledge you lol. Wow! We came 15 minutes before opening and there were already people trying to see if they were opened too. When we actually went in when the place opened, the place was packed with a high turnover time of people eating and leaving. There are 4 tables of about 4 people each and people would sit with strangers like a food court. There is a kiosk where you can order as well as a cashier to take your order. I've had their beef hand pulled noodles before, but today I tried the Mt Qi Pork Spicy and Sour Hand Pulled Noodles with Soup and it was delicious. I did the least spicy since I cannot tolerate spicy very well and it was perfect. The broth and meat is very flavorful and pairs great with the noodles. As for their drinks, they have 3 main ones: sour haw, chrysanthemum, and Jasmine. I love how the drinks are not that sweet and is very refreshing after eating the spicy noodles. I see why there are two locations in Flushing. The one is Tangram is more spacious with more seats so better during busy hours! read more

Epic spot for noodles! I've always known Xi'an has the best noodles, but I had always wanted to try. I took my dad here while we visited Tangram Mall. I got the cumin lamb noodle, the famous dish they're known for, and my dad got the beef and noodles in soup, along with the lamb burger. The food was amazing! This is the best Xian Famous foods in the city. They have to make everything beyond the standard of their Manhattan locations which are just as good but sometimes lack that punch, I used to eat at the times sq location a lot. Excellent food quality as usual. This time around we walked there from Forest Hills; they typically close around 8:30PM so we were happy to get there around 7:45 for some NS2 (Spicy Tingly beef with noodles in soup) and N2 (Spicy Tingly beef noodles) and some delicious lamb burger. Everything was made fresh and hot so we were able to enjoy it in the restaurant before they closed down. I love to dip that burger into my soup. There was plenty of meat in both the soup and the burger and the jalapeno adds a nice heat and pairs very well with the cumin. Service was great, got our food pretty quickly and the restroom was generally clean. Ambiance was like a quick sit down ramen shop vibe so there were seats and counters to enjoy the food. Its clean up after yourself mode so don't leave your mess behind. Amazing food quality as always, I love these and can eat them daily. read more

Stopped by on a early weeknight and it was not busy. This location isn't the OG location which was a stone's throw from here (underground mall) but is relatively large with tables and a bathroom. Ordered my usual the cold liang pi (chewy, light, flavorful), which I think is still best in a competitive neighborhood. Pricing is higher than others but I think is fair. Place is clean. Note regular spicy is spicy but always get regular spicy. I believe prices are lower here and at the Woodside location (vs other Xi'an) to remain competitive. read more

Never had thick noodles before, first time experience. I took a few bites but the sauce needs to be watered down a notch for me to even finish it. DO appreciate the crunchy bits of vegetables (cabbage/asparagus?/etc)- wished there was more! Only one lady is working, she does the cook, packs/serves the food, and calls your ticket number. There's a self service machine to take your orders and you pay by credit card. Dining in is spacious. Ended up getting it to go, lady was kind enough to let me pack it. What HELPED - drain out all the sauce, make a stew pork sandwich w/white bread (helps a bit but ended up tossing it in the garbage), GALLONS OF WATER!!!!!!, and noodles was less salty! We ordered the Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger ($7), Spicy & Sour Pork & Cabbage Dumplings ($9.75), Pork "Zha Jiang" Hand-pulled Noodles ($12.75), and Chrysanthemum Tea ($3.25). The burger was lackluster and the bread was tough. For the dumplings and noodles, the texture was too thick for my liking, which made it very chewy. We couldn't finish any of our dishes but the dumplings; and even that we were barely able to. Sadly, the best thing we got here was the chrysanthemum tea. I did wish that the meat from the bun was cut up a bit more. Even though the taste was delicious. The pieces of meat were a little chewy and some were big pieces so it became a little bit of a hassle to eat. The spicy beef noodles were really good too! Man, if I had to rate the noodles, it would have been perfect. The texture of it right as it came out was extremely fresh, soft with that bit of chew to it, and the overall flavor just sold it to me. Xi'an Famous Foods (西安名吃) found mainstream success in New York City with notable help from Anthony Bourdain (among others); and grew from a basement stall in the long-gone Golden Mall in Downtown Flushing to several locations across New York City. This location is about a block away from the original location; Golden Mall is now a Teso Life location. We typically get the "N1" -- "Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles". The noodles are wide, thick, with a great chew; and are combined with a chili oil coating to make a deliciously addictive, satisfying experience. The lamb is chewy and dry, but flavorful because of the chili oil coating. We recommend the "Regular Spicy" version of this dish. There are less spicy and no spice versions available, but this dish depends heavily on chili oil for flavor. Conversely, we found it difficult to appreciate the Extra Spicy version of this dish, because the heat drowns out the other flavors. Other Dishes We've Tried: - "F4" -- "Spicy & Sour Lamb Dumplings". These dumplings share the thick chewy dough and spicy profile of the aforementioned noodles, with a slightly sour taste that somehow seems to work. Wanted to stop by on my most recent visit to New York. Heard about this place a while ago from friends but finally got to it. The Chinatown location is easily accessible and is located on a busy street. The store itself is clean, quick, and operates self-serve style. What I ordered: Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles (least spicy) - very filling and flavorful. I personally think it's best fresh since hand-ripped noodles are long and thick. If you are not a fan of lamb then this will taste gamey. I got least spicy, and the spice was not too hot but did elevate the flavor. Spicy and Sweet Spinach Dumplings - my favorite. The sauce it sits in is very savory and elevated the dumplings. The dumplings are moist and very filling. They do not keep well, since they are sitting in the sauce. With this in mind I recommend eating the entire bowl! After trying these, you would want to finish them anyways! read more

The vinegar and chili oil packets were included separately so you can add as much or little as you want. I ended up adding the whole pack of vinegar and 1/3 of chili oil... I love the Liang pi with a side order of spicy cucumbers and one of their refreshing ice teas. Their seitan is so good and I like the sauce on the side to adjust the spice level.
