We were blown away by this amazing restaurant. From the staff, to the ambiance, to the drinks and to the food! We had absolutely no complaints or critiques on anything. Our server, Lauren R. was phenomenal. She checked on us often, made recommendations and really made sure we enjoyed everything. The manger also checked in on us and it was a nice touch to see how much they love and care for the place. They make all their food from scratch in house and you can tell by the quality and flavors how much passion they put into it. Every dish was a highlight for us and our absolute favorites were the Tagliatelle, Oxtail & Ribeye. The Tagliatelle was very creamy, rich and the pieces of braised beef ragu gave it that extra touch of saltiness. The ribeye was cooked to perfection, it cut like butter and melted in your mouth like butter. The steak comes with a side of broccolini which was cooked al dente and had a nice bite with garlic infused flavor. DONT SKIP THE OXTAIL! It was so tender that it fell off the bone, had a small kick with the Thai chilis and with a side of rice, it was a winner. For dessert we had the Whipped Chocolate Budino, it was like a thick chocolate custard with espresso cookie crumble, a nice way to end the meal. I did enjoy a Valentine's Day special drink, Cupid's Cup which came with a bow to hold the garnish. It was sweet with a slight tangy twist from the lemon. The Carajillo was strong (no complaints there) and had a good mixture to it. We will return!

Ribeye steak, the sides change they used to have brocollini and now its asparagus so no guarantee it will look like this

Food and drinks were delicious but a little over priced. Its a super cute and romantic restaurant. The service was good our server was very attentive.

AMBIANCE (3/5): **LIVE MUSIC ON THURSDAY NIGHTS ** The lady who sang was AMAZING! It was slightly too loud though. Especially if you want to be able to talk to the people at your table. But love that they have live music and that it's great! FOOD (5/5): This rating is based on the dish I had today. A year later from my last review when they opened. Ive visited in between, but the dish I had today was SO GOOD - YOU MUST ORDER IT! $32 OXTAIL: seems boring, just oxtail. But boy did it deliver! It's fall off the bone, is seasoned with Asian flavors (I tasted some fish sauce), a little bit of spice from the Thai chilies. An EXCELLENT DISH! Served in a unique way. I loved everything about it. I recommend ordering a side of rice (I didn't because I was going carb-less, but it definitely would complement it). $8 SIDE OF BROCCOLI: this was a BIG PORTION! Perfectly cooked and seasoned with crispy onions of some sort. Delicious! HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE TRIES THE OXTAIL. TRUST ME! SERVICE (5/5): I sat at the bar and ate by myself. My ONLY complaint is that the bar is SO TALL & the chairs are TOO SHORT. I'm already short, but it was hard to eat at the bar. I sadly wouldn't sit there again due to the uncomfortable-ness. Bartender was 10/10! I wish I caught his name so I could give a shout out. He was amazing (& I didn't even order a drink lol).

Really liked this place - ordered the Wagyu Burger and Short Ribs, and both were delicious! Also ordered the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Caesar Salad and Patatas (Potatoes) Bravas -- so yummy and filling ... did not leave room for their dessert. They have a fun bar area, service was excellent, and there is a free parking garage across the street. Menu changes seasonally, so great place to come back to try other menu items.

Located in downtown Brea. I found parking in the lot behind the restaurant, but there's also free parking at the structure directly across the street. There was live music on a weekday night, and the singer performed all evening, she was amazing! She's also able to perform any song by request too! Every dish I tried was DELICIOUS and full of FLAVOR. The waiter mentioned all syrup and sauces from the bar and kitchen was house made (except for the ketchup). That explains why everything had a unique distinct flavor. Yellowtail hamchi crudo- the waiter presented the dish and finished it with a citrusy sauce . The fish was incredibly fresh with a slight crunch from the other ingredients that added great texture. 10/10 so so good! Oxtail- heard they're known for their oxtail so I had to try it. It's tender and was easy for the meat to fall off the bones. They recommended to order with a side of rice. It was so tasty even without rice. 10/10! Tagliatelle- pasta with braised beef ragu. i cant quite put my finger on the exact flavor, but somehow it was unique and worked really well with the pasta and beef. Again, food is so good 10/10! Kentucky Heat- a very well crafted bourbon cocktail. the fire tincture really gave the drink an oomph! 10/10 Cafe martini w/ tequila- first sip tasted like diluted coffee. I didnt taste the tequila or a strong "cafe" but the alcohol was definitely there . I make my own espresso martinis at home so this was 8/10 Can't wait to come back and try their other dishes.

Food was flavorful, their menu is seasonal and is suggested as shareable tapas style, service is excellent they can answer any questions you have, the ambience I feel is classy , the lighting is subtle great place to take a date if you want to get a little fancy . Overall it's a great place to eat .

The food here was really good. Enjoyed the presentation of each dish as well as the unique taste of each. What I recommend the most was the loup de mer, a perfectly cooked white fish filet set upon squid ink pasta. I also think the Caesar salad and the yellowtail crudo were great for starters. The oxtail was prepared a little differently than I'm used to so I would not likely order it. I like when the meat is tenderly cooked and falls off the bone. Overall, the service is friendly and helpful. Enjoy a dinner here for a date night as the interior looks modern and romantic.

My husband and I came here for my birthday tonight and the food and service were excellent! The yellowtail crudo had the best citrus sauce ever, the skirt steak was flavorful, the shrimp tacos were delicious, and the chocolate budino was so tasty. Our server was terrific and the owner even gave us a shot of his favorite Trujillo tequila! Everyone was so nice. My husband met a few of the friendly regulars at the bar (shoutout to Paul) before dinner and felt very welcome. We parked easily in the free parking garage structure across the street. Whether you're coming here for a nice dinner, or just looking for a great meal before or after a comedy show down the block, you won't be disappointed. We'll definitely come back.

Food was good and delicious but I do think it's more on the expensive side of pricing for the amount you get. Service was fantastic, our server was very attentive to us and explained the menu perfectly to us. They gave us strawberry covered chocolate on the house for Valentine's Day. It's a cute spot for a date night.

    Crispy Brussel sprouts
    Fatima P.

First time coming on Valentine's Day and am excited to be back to try the rest of the menu. I saw the other reviews about trying their crispy Brussel sprouts and was sooo glad I did! The ranch and buffalo dip go really well with the Brussel sprouts. The server (who I forgot their name) was very knowledgeable about the menu and told us that everything is made from scratch! THIS IS AMAZING! The tagliatelle was hands down my favorite item on the menu so far but I have my eyes on trying the other dishes. The chocolate covered strawberries were a nice surprise to end the night. Absolutely beautiful inside, the interior was very cozy and intimate but I can see it being inviting for larger groups as well.

    Caesar Salad with shrimp
    Jackson S.

We had a wonderful meal, and great cocktails! We were waiting to hit the cinema and decided to have dinner at Griffin's. What a great choice. I had the Caesar Salad with grilled shrimp which I really enjoyed. The half dozen shrimp were very tasty. I loved what they did to the anchovies and was very pleased to see a nice mound of grated cheese on the salad. A hit all around. My wife had the burrata which she seemed to inhale. I'm not a beet fan but she certainly is. The hit of the evening was the Citrus Panna Cotta. We split one but I wish we got two! The little meringues added a small, but tasty crunch. We started out with cocktails. I had the whisky business and she had the pink pony club. Both were very nice and well presented. Service was excellent and the ambience was very nice. I really hope to return soon!

complimentary chocolate strawberries for valentine's day
    Jessica P.

griffin's for v-day dinner! got a reservation for 4:30 pm so the restaurant wasn't busy yet. service is nice, they check up on you and pretty attentive about making sure water is refilled. def a date ambience too. at first glance, the food menu is quite small tbh. the drinks are more extensive in comparison. got crispy brussels sprouts for appetizers, great sharing size. i like the sauces that came with it (one maybe ranch? and the other is a spicy one i think sriracha mayo). for the main entree, we got tagliatelle and wagyu bistro burger. both were good, nothing too special or stands out. it's very thoughtful that they gave complimentary chocolate strawberries for valentines day! i don't think i would come back as the food menu is quite small but overall this is a nice restaurant in downtown brea. i would say the target audience is for older individuals rather than trendy foodies.

The pork was crunchy on the outside and soft+succulent on the inside. I can see myself doubling up on this appetizer the next time I come. Dirty fries were great; it came with a generous amount of pickled onions - providing a really nice contrast to the savoriness of our meal. We've seen it a bunch of times while in downtown Brea, so we thought we'd give it a try, and I guess we've been missing out! The ambience was nice: not too loud, strong drinks, long menu, friendly staff, sports on the tv, and I was shocked when I saw the bill, very reasonably priced. We'll be back, for sure!

We truly honestly regret selecting this restaurant to host such "intimate" dinner to say the least. The "' private rooms " aren't even private ... we were sat infront of a big party which I think they were hosting a mad hatter event at the time and they kept the curtains wide open for many passing customers to pry at us and it was a very uncomfortable ( found out that the bathrooms are right next door at that ) experience . I was under the impression that the word private ment curtains will be closed private . I'm not sure if it's because the party was " too small " to even treat it as a courtesy event but omg ? Ambiance was not fit for us & There's truly no excuse for it . We even requested to have curtains closed but he just undid the rope ever so slightly still having us in full display . We had this server which I unfortunately didn't get her name all I could remember was her high slicked bun and her loud practically screaming voice . It was all our first time here so we were looking at the menu to figure out what we'd like to order but this lady kept rushing us not allowing the table to coordinate our orders for a smooth process I mean it's 10 of us. So that was just a mess to order. We all put in our orders for drinks first to allow us to look at the menu since she kept being pushy like she didn't even get 2 of our guests drink order in either ?? So we had to wait until she came back which took a very long time .... Once some drinks came back to us one of the servers SPILLED some the of the drink on one of our guests dress ! And all over the table . It's truly so embarrassing to experience this in general as a person and a customer let alone someone that is celebrating a special event. The food and drink were decent but I truthfully think the experience overshadowed the actual enjoyment of the food and drinks. Once we had our food the waitress popped in at very long sparse times to yell out if we were okay in the middle of our dinner which honestly most of us grew irritated by it because there's absolutely no need to scream at us while we are eating ....our guest honestly felt uncomfortable to order because there was already that drink mishap and just the poor service overall . There was a point where a server came in to set down the food and practically tossed it on the table& made a comment about the amount of food one of our guest had ordered ? Like are we missing proper serving etiquette at this point ? If I could have a do over I wouldn't select this place for events like that . Maybe a casual dinner but if that was the case maybe I should've just opt for chilis for better service honestly because this wasn't it . We had brought a small cake to cut and she would come in at times just to yell out " cmon now everyone it's a celebration " like please read the room. If you're like me trying to host a small dinner for a special celebration don't do it here. If the automated gratuity wasn't in place I don't even think a tip was worth it.

My go to meal here is specifically something light and good. Don't want anything too heavy, especially dancing on the dance floor, lol! The Irish Country Salad I posted in the pic has apples, goat cheese, candied walnuts, croutons, frisee, radicchio, drizzled with honey vinaigrette. I highly recommend this salad when coming here! Our server, Devin was pretty good despite the place was packed and he had alot of tables to wait on. My food came out pretty quick and he did check up on our table from time to time which is awesome. Never had an issue here service wise. Wednesday nights are always a fun night here with food, singing, and dancing!

Macallan's has the look of an Irish pub; dark wood, Celtic décor, the whole atmosphere is there…read more But if you're going to lean into Irish identity, the details matter, especially with Guinness. I've watched it poured straight into a regular pint glass with no 45-degree angle and no pause for the proper two-step pour. It comes out flat, with barely any creamy head, which completely changes the texture and experience. Guinness isn't just another draft beer; it needs to settle, and it should be served in a proper tulip or Guinness glass to get that classic presentation. The fix is simple: slow the pour down and train the staff on the traditional method. The pub has the vibe. Now it just needs to respect the pint.

The dishes were rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with fresh ingredients. From the perfectly cooked pasta to the well-balanced sauces, every bite felt authentic and thoughtfully prepared. What truly elevated the evening, however, was the exceptional service. Our waiter, Caesar, was kind, attentive, and highly professional throughout the meal. He made excellent recommendations, checked in at just the right moments, and created a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere without ever feeling intrusive. Overall, this was a memorable dining experience. Between the delicious Italian food and Caesar's outstanding service, I would happily return and highly recommend this restaurant to others.

Melontini (4/5) - This drink was spirit forward and came with a cute melon ball on the side. I slightly wish it was a little fruitier. Wagyu meatballs (5/5) - the appetizer came with three medium-sized Wagyu meatballs on pieces of garlic toast. The meatballs were delicious and a great starter to our meal. Caesar salad (4/5) - this was your classic Caesar salad that accompanied our pasta perfectly. Fried zucchini (5/5) - I love that the zucchini was sliced and crispy. The breading to zucchini ratio was perfect and paired perfect perfectly with a marinara sauce. Short rib pappardelle (5/5) - this pasta dish was the absolute highlight of our meal. In order comes with two servings, which is more than enough pasta for a second meal for two people. The short rib was flavorful and tender, and the Alfredo sauce and fresh pasta were amazing. Cannoli (4/5) - the cannoli was a simple way to top off our delicious Italian meal. I like that on one end there were chocolate chips and the other end there was pistachio.
