Three hot loops around the parking lot before I finally found a spot :( I was hungry and as soon as I walked in, they offered a nice space to stow my helmet and jacket, a gesture of respect I appreciated. I made my way to the bar, ready to entertain the hype that's been brewing for the last two weeks about this locale. The place felt isolated from the busy street outside, dark, moody, and dripping with culinary intrigue. The open kitchen gleamed like a mad scientist's metal lab, the chef a wild alchemist conjuring edible flavors rich and distinctive. The chef - she's bold and unapologetic in her choice of menu items outside the typical OC norms. In other words, not the same ol burgers, fries and Caesar salads. Perched at the bar, I witnessed a spectacle: the Olympics flickering on two giant screens, a surreal backdrop to my gastronomic endeavor. First up, a Risotto swathed in a crimson sauce--each bite a sinful tango of flavor profiles. The lager beer, a rebellious partner, cut through the richness like a knife in a dark alley. Then came the kale salad, a green siren in a sea of decadence, refreshing and unapologetically alive. But the steak--oh, the steak--was an inferno of perfection, seared to a juicy, tender climax that left my senses reeling. Service? Flawless and fast, like my well-oiled machine waiting in the parking lot. The place is a bit pricey but the food was excellent. Everything tasted so good. We ordered various dishes and tried everything family style. What we ordered: Brussels sprouts, shrimp tacos, meatballs, gnocchi carbonara, and ribeye steak. Everything was cooked perfectly. I also like that they have a condensed menu and not a million things on it. Only down side was that they automatically charged us a 20% gratuity for a "large party" of a whopping 5 people. Dinner was amazing! We had the choice on Christmas Eve to go to the Ranch in Anaheim or Griffins and my family was so glad we chose Griffins. Our server Chris made the evening even more magical! I've been in the restaurant business for 40 years and they are lucky to have such an incredible and personable server! Robert the owner was fantastic as well and went out of his way to make my family feel special. The chef prepared some of the best food we have had in a long time. Pretty great! We started off not so fantastic with the Brussels sprouts, but then everything else was out of the park. We had the Tagliatelle and Loup de Mer, both of which were incredible, and then finished it off with the best panna cotta dish we have ever had. It was amazing. Our group of 6 adults and a child went there to celebrate a birthday. PROS: 1. Our server greeted us pleasantly and took our orders promptly. 2. Our soft drinks were served within a few minutes. 3. We shared the corn dish and liked it so much that we ordered a second. CONS: 1. The food menu is limited and there is no children's menu. (The bar menu is fairly extensive.) 2. Our server never brought bread to the table. 3. It took nearly 20 minutes to receive our beer and wine. We were midway through the appetizer by that point. 4. We had to ask for sweetener for our iced tea and for refills of our soft drinks. The server never checked on us to ask how everything was and if we needed anything. 5. Dishes were brought out as they were cooked, which we'd OK'd, but the salads were among the last things to be served. 6. The "Dino Ribs" were a waste of $120. The menu says they serve 3-4, so 3 men in our group split an order. They received 2 beef ribs that were large but contained so much fat that there was barely enough meat for 2 people. And the meat looked and tasted like it had been boiled--it was grayish brown, bland, unseasoned, and unappetizing. Even the sauce served on the side couldn't make these disgusting ribs appealing. 7. After we finished eating, our server served the birthday man 2 small scoops of vanilla ice cream--plus 7 spoons--then walked away. She never asked if anyone wanted coffee or dessert. 8. A 20% tip is automatically added to the bill for parties of 6 or more. This was our first and last time at Griffin's. We paid the bill and went elsewhere for coffee and dessert. read more

Check in was easy, we were sat down next to dirty tables it took a few minutes for someone to realize it and they cleaned it up, which was fine then once our waitress came It was rush, rush rush. They got my order in, and then they said that they didn't have that liquor so then my husband and I decided that we would order different drinks. Once my husband gave her his drink. She went ahead and ordered both of our drinks the same as his which is not what we wanted so we told her to leave them anyways (which we were charged for even thought it was their mistake which is fine but at least try harder after your mistake but nothing changed ) they didn't ask us if you were there for a special occasion, even though we're celebrating our wedding anniversary we felt like it was rushed and sloppy and the only thing that saved them from getting one Star is their appetizers, which were pretty good, but I wouldn't go back just for that. I feel like they need to improve their customer service and cleanliness. I'm a dessert person and wanted to order a special dessert for anniversary, but unfortunately, their options and customer service had me paying the bill and almost running out of there. Customer service is 100% what sells me on a business especially at their prices. Our bill was over $200, we actually were going to leave before our drinks were even ordered because that alone took over 20 minutes almost like they forgot we were there, but I couldn't get a reservation anywhere else in that short notice so I decided to give them a chance, but it didn't improve unfortunately read more

Disappointing beginning but mostly happy in the end. We made reservations a week in advance and were looking forward to our first visit to this restaurant. We walked into a pretty much empty restaurant. The hostess tried to seat us in a brightly lit corner right off the entrance and away from the main part of the restaurant. Awful. So we sat at the bar. For Christmas Eve dinner. Ok we've eaten at the bar many times but just wasn't what I was expecting for tonight. Anyway, the bartenders were very accommodating and as attentive as possible, the food was amazing and we did enjoy our experience. Would have been nice to get an espresso or even a hot brewed coffee with dessert but I guess Santa needs to bring them a Nespresso machine for Christmas. Dessert was still delicious though. We had oxtail, Brussels sprouts, meatballs, and the potato dish. All excellent. As were the drinks. I would have loved to give them 5 stars but the clumsy experience with the seating really turned me off, especially after reserving well ahead. It made us feel unwelcome at best. Will probably go back someday but not likely very soon. Maybe consider saving those front tables next to the kitchen for walk ins, not for someone who took the time to pick your restaurant in advance for a special occasion. read more

Felt wildly over priced for what it is. We got the burrata, brussels sprouts, Meat balls, tagliatelle pasta and one drink all on happy hour and it was still over $100. That just seems wild to me. The pasta was just ok, was actually a little dry, and my fiancé mentioned the meatballs were quite dense. The Burrata was only good if you got a bite with salt and pepper on it, otherwise it was quite bland. It wasn't terrible by any means, but for the price, I have had much better meals. $85 for a ribeye? Thats more than a nice steakhouse. And the fact that half the items were on happy hour when we went....wow. Also was a bit confusing if ALL items were meant to be shared or if some were meals as nothing was separated on the menu, but some items came with sides? I assume its all tapas style?
