This is a somewhat odd place, way off to the side of an expanded strip-mall kind of center among running shops and clothing consignment. We found it while looking for a simple but nice place for lunch after spending days gorging on the many insanely good restaurants in and around Mt. Pleasant. It's oddly dark inside, with half the place taken up by the bar area and the rest normal seating. It's clearly popular, given the steady stream of people coming in and even willing to sit outside in 50-degree weather. For us the food was fine but nothing memorable; we had salads, fish, sandwiches, etc. Everything had that homemade aura to it, meaning it all felt like things we could actually make at home. From the quality of service, the welcoming atmosphere, and the to die for food (because I swear my soul left my body multiple times during dinner). My friend and I sat outside. Masks were of course required for service. I saw servers continuously and vigorously cleaning tables inside and outside. And even with masks on, you could "see" smiles on everyone's faces. For starters, we ordered the Fried Oysters, Calamari Fries, and Pulled Pork & Collard Green Mac n Cheese. We split the Shrimp Carbonara for our entree because the many starters were so satisfying and filling. My husband and I found Graze on yelp during our vacation in Mount Pleasant. We arrived to our hotel late on a Thursday evening and seemingly due to Covid 19 mostly every restaurant within a 10 mile radius closed by 9pm. Luckily we called Graze and they were open till 930pm. The young lady who answered the phone was very helpful. I ordered the Fried Buffalo Brussel Sprouts, the Pan Seared Salmon and the Crabcake entrée. There was a shrimp gumbo that came with the Crabcake meal and for some reason it seems that there is pork in just about everything when I visit South Carolina so I asked her if there was pork in the meal. She was not sure but said she would make note to not add anything that contained pork. She called me back within 3 mins and told me that the chef said that there was in fact pork in the gumbo. I asked her what other sides did they offer and she patiently ran down what seemed to be an extremely long list of items. Finally, I decided on the green beans and the Carolina Gold Rice that came with the meal. She told me my total and said the meal would be ready in 20 minutes. The restaurant is located in a large shopping center, so there is plenty of parking. We were in the mist of Covid 19 and there was a sign in front of the restaurant that said they were open for outdoor seating. It was late so we took our food back to the hotel. The portions were large and the prices are reasonable. Due to the Brussel Sprouts being called "Buffalo" I was under the impression that they would be spicy, they were not. I'm not sure what the house made dressing is made of but they tasted like braised Sprouts to me with blue cheese on top. The Brussel Sprouts were delicious, personally I didn't like the blue cheese on top, but overall cooked well and I would recommend them. My husband's Salmon was cooked to perfection, we ordered it medium. The sides Yukon gold chive potato cake was different but good, he loved the pecan brussel sprout slaw as well. The blueberry-chipotle BBQ sauce had a unique taste, I wasn't a fan. I am a Maryland native and grew up on Maryland Crabcakes so I rarely try them in any other state but since the reviews were so good I decided to give them a try. My Crabcake was large and had a good taste, there was little filling. The remoulade that came with the entrée was light and paired well with my dish. My Green Beans were fresh and were seasoned adequately. This was my first time having Carolina Gold Rice and I loved it. Overall, we enjoyed our food. Graze was definitely a winner and if I ever find myself back in the area this restaurant is on the list to return to. read more

My green apple cauliflower soup was delicious, a dining mates, arugula salad with fried sweet potatoes, farro, cranberries and cashews also delicious. When I'm on vacation I have a rule: No restaurants I can go to at home. I don't want anything I could just as easily get when I'm at home or at work. I'm on vacation! Give me something different! The more local and unique the better. This rule means that whenever the family and I go somewhere my Yelp app gets a workout as I scour anything close to our hotel for options. While we fill our days with activities and seeing the sights, I want at least one of those dinner meals to be at a nicer place where we can relax and eat something a step above "fast casual"--and so far away from "fast food" I can't see it from where I'm sitting. From all of my research (and yes, this is RESEARCH), Graze fit the criteria nicely. From the outside, you'd be forgiven thinking you've made a mistake looking for someplace nicer with higher quality food. Graze sits in a strip mall bordered by a yoga studio and consignment shop. If you want to sit outside, as we did, the tables are right outside the front door just off the lot. Your scenery for this meal will be watching cars park and dashers sit in the fire lane for a pickup. The outdoor ambiance leaves something to be desired, but at least for our dinner the surrounding businesses were closed so traffic was not as bad as it could be. Your lunchtime meal may vary. I ordered the crab cake, served over a bed of rice and gumbo. It was nothing short of incredible. The crab cake hit all the right notes with plenty of meat and traditional seasoning. It tasted exactly as I hoped it would. The gumbo was also excellent. While it wasn't quite Bourbon and Toulouse--still my All-Time Favorite Gumbo Kings--the stew was not only good on its own but matched perfectly with the cake, each complimenting the flavors of the other. My wife ordered the mahi, and she enjoyed it, finishing her plate. Given the proximity to the ocean, if the seafood wasn't good then by rule the restaurant would have to close immediately. Our son, meanwhile, focused his attention on the shrimp carbonara. It's one of his favorite dishes at home because bacon and we're raising him right. He made short work of the large portion he was given. Granted, he is a teenager, so any food put in front of him disappears quickly. However, he is a connoisseur of the dish, so I'll vouch for his seal of approval. When it comes to what my daughter ordered, we come to another issue with Graze. I don't blame the restaurant for this as much as I point the finger at Yelp, but it is something to note. Yelp labels Graze as "Good for Kids." Not exactly. Graze isn't *bad* for kids, mind you. They aren't unwelcome. However, there is no dedicated menu or other concessions to the younger set we were made aware of despite clearly having a child in our party. Our ten-year-old was perplexed by the menu and their "fancy" ingredients to the point she wasn't sure what to order. She ultimately went with what was most recognizable: chicken and waffles. She liked it but didn't come close to finishing the adult-sized portion of two pieces of chicken and accompanying pair of waffles. My son and I ultimately polished it off. The chicken was done properly: juicy meat and crispy breading. The waffle was also nice and fluffy. Add in the maple syrup and everything fits together as it should. Should we return to Charleston/Mount Pleasant sometime in the future, I would happily pay a second visit to Graze. The food was excellent, with each of the varied items we ordered representing their particular cuisine well. You certainly won't be disappointed by the food. Maybe eat inside though. My mother and I were looking for a walkable dinner spot on Saturday evening when we happened upon Graze. There were a few tables of people but it was mostly open since it was quite early for dinner. Our waitress, Stefanie, greeted us warmly and told us about the specials. I usually ignore the specials but these spoke to me... until I looked at the menu and realized I would have a hard time making a decision. We agreed to split one of the big Westbrook Mexican Cake beers (22 oz and 10.5%!) and Stefanie brought us over two slices of their focaccia bread. Our entrees came out shortly thereafter and I was really excited. My mother went with the beef tenderloin ($26) and all but licked the plate. I chose the wild mushroom papardelle ($14) and definitely made the right decision. I brought about half of it home and really wished I could just eat it every day. Without reservation, some of the most congenial staff I've ever encountered, from host stand to management. This is the way of Charleston, and I could not be more grateful for it. Nicest people you ever want to meet. However, food was very lackluster across the board. Apps to entrees, everything was tepid, thrown together and flavorless. My husband, daughter, and I enjoyed some amazing food on our vacation in Charleston. We were looking for one last delicious meal before heading back to New York, and had been in Mount Pleasant earlier that day to paddle boarding on Shem Creek. We decided to call Graze, one of the top places that got lots of online accolades to see if there was any availability. Miraculously, we got a table, and we were so glad we did! Graze is tucked away in a Whole Foods strip mall off of the main road, but is definitely worth finding! They had outside dining, although inside was also cozy and well-appointed. Everything we tried was scrumptious! We savored melt-in-your-mouth fried oysters and an absolutely insane (but perfect) lobster mac-and-cheese with huge, buttery chunks of lobster meat as our appetizers. We were equally happy with our entrees: a blackened chicken Caesar salad for our daughter, a "bougie" Wagyu meatloaf for my husband, and a taco sampler (one short rib, one salmon) with a side salad for me. I ordered the Crab Cake but had to join a long teleconference. My friend asked the waitress to keep it warm while I was tied up. The crab cake was lightly breaded and pan seared. The small space was bustling on a Wednesday night, packed with early holiday revelers I usually hone in pretty quickly on what I want to order but this time I had difficulty picking from three contenders I decided to ask our server and without a beat she responded "The wild mushroom papperdelle" (a pasta dish with goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, porcini cream, spinach, pine nuts and truffle oil.) I opted to go with her suggestion sans the goat cheese. Just never liked the stuff. In the end, it was a wise choice as this dish was an umami bomb, super rich, woodsy with intense flavors. My husband ordered the remoulade streaked crab cake served on shrimp gumbo, Carolina gold rice, and pickled okra. Having lived in Annapolis the crab cake epicenter we knew they would really have to strike gold with their version. Luckily for my husband, the cake delivered.....in spades. And the gumbo was an interesting but successful way to serve the crab. The stew was well prepared with the tell tale signs of a long cooked roux. Only two hiccups and one was just a matter of personal taste. Marsala wine pairs well with mushrooms but it can impart a sweetness which I detected instantly in the porcini cream sauce. I prefer my savory dishes to remain that way. The sweetness was just too forward for me in a dish like this. The Caesar's salad that came before the meal was dull and lacked all the punch you usually get from the garlic and anchovies. Lemon was the predominant flavor which didn't do this ubiquitous preparation any justice. Aside from these minor issues, we really enjoyed our meals here. Decided to eat here for lunch, on a whim, and I must say that deciding to eat here was the best decision that I've made on this trip. Our waitress was as sweet as can be--she split the grilled salad in 3 portions for us. We were all so surprised by this, but it definitely made points with us and we really appreciated her doing that. Service was awesome. Moving on to the food, because that's the most important, right?! So we ordered the grilled salad which was delicious, their scallops special of the day (the best scallops that I've ever had), mussels (wouldn't recommend if you like it in a white wine, butter sauce), and braised beef tacos (you get so much meat so be prepared). For the most part, everything exceeded my expectations. Oh, and their fries were delicious, some of the best fries I've had at a restaurant. Graze is one of our standard places to enjoy a good meal at a reasonable price. Nothing is spectacularly fancy, but always looks appealing and tastes wonderful. We are particularly partial to the beet salad - fresh and delicious. My wife's go to dish is the mushroom ravioli or the lobster Mac & cheese. I try the specials, usually - had a wonderful corn flake encrusted fried catfish with their succotash medley this week. A local place with good service in a strip mall. An amazing American fusion restaurant right by my hotel! I'm glad yelp enabled me to find this gem. Its storefront is not pretentious and is part of a strip mall. There is a bar with draft beers and full bar service, I sat here for my dining experience. There's a happy hour menu from 5-7 pm nightly and it has some fantastic deals like $3 tacos. I ordered two fish tacos (snapper), one buffalo shrimp, and one duck confit taco. All four tacos were amazing but the fish was grilled perfectly -- if I could I would have had three fish and two duck confit. The duck confit was amazingly juicy and tasty. Will return!! read more

The pomme frites were a huge portion but a bit too salty to enjoy (the sauce was good that it came with). I like salty things, but even I found it a bit much and the hubs found them inedible. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the papardelle (goat cheese, mushrooms etc). The hubs said the chicken and waffles weren't better than Rarebit (we had been reading reviews beforehand). I thought it was good! Not necessarily the best in town, but not at all disappointing. The pasta I ordered was not my thing, but the hubs really likes it.
