This place has a great view and very chill vibe - you are paying for the view (pricing and food lower the stars). But it is a fun place- mix of crowd. 5 stars for dog friendly!

I love this place. It's nothing fancy, but you should be able to gather that by the name alone. The setting couldn't be more beautiful - marshside, straight off the docks, and the area around the bar they've covered the floor with sand so it gives off strong beachy vibes. Reminds me of the bars in Thailand I used to go to when I was younger. Grab a cold one, pop a squat on a picnic table, and have a good time. Watch the sun set. Bring your dog. What's not to love?

Very cool looking place at night. Awesome spot on the water and overlooking the area. Upstairs dining. Dock side party central.

Went on a Friday night. Walked through dining area: decent set up but a little worn - family dining. Stood at mostly empty bar to ask a question and both bartenders seemed dedicated to ignoring me - I got ones attention and I seemed to be bothering him because I must have missed the hostess stand to which he directed me. No worries it happens, but...!? We went down stairs to get a drink. It was all college aged kids and the place had "had a long hard day" and was pretty beat up. Again. No worries as this is a college town and this part of the bar was meant for throwing back a few drinks and hanging out, but the first thing we saw was a girl at the bar wasted and falling down. No one blinked and eye as she fell and couldn't get up. Beer was ice cold and we were able to walk the docks with it on our way out.

Great location on the water, awesome view on popular Shem Creek, some free parking, take a walk on the boardwalk and see the shrimp boatsFriendly, fast service in the bar area for lunch. Reasonable price points. Ordered the house salad and added crab cakes. Crab cakes were very thin and mostly breading so I wouldn't recommend them, but salad was large and delicious!

Given no chance to explain that I did not order or receive any of the extra drinks on my tab, and no chance to reason with anyone who had the decency to listen. The story is as follows: I had accidentally left my credit card upstairs with the bartender after I opened a tab, and then moved downstairs for a table reservation. After dinner, I realized this had happened and asked the bouncer if I could go back upstairs to collect my card and close my tab (moving past a line to do so). I waited about 3 minutes to speak with the bartender upstairs, which is not an unreasonable amount of time, and as I was closing I was tapped on the shoulder by a bouncer and told I was "taking too long", and that I "had to go". Mind you I was still in good standing prior to this interaction. I was then escorted downstairs to where my family was sitting, and still nobody had the thought that maybe I was telling the truth and actually did have a table downstairs, even as it was right in front of them... Not only this, but Reds also does not have a working customer support email. It was such disturbing treatment of a paying and respectful customer. Both overcharging and removing my group without any explanation. Safe to say I won't be returning to this poorly run establishment.

I will say right off the bat, we had a weird experience with service. It was definitely a one off situation because they were hosting a private party for a group later that day, but it could have been handled way better than it was. Our server was excellent though and was trying to be accomodating, but it seemed her hands were tied. More importantly, the Lobster Roll lives up to all the hype online. It was almost a cross between a CT and ME style because it still had a very light mayo base, but was then coated it warm butter as too. The combination worked perfectly and I would say it's better than some of the lobster rolls I just recently had in Boston. We started with the Fig & Brie melt and it was stellar as well. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the warm brie was served on top of a blueberry compote in a mini cast iron skillet. The they surrounded it with sliced baguette pieces to dip. There was only two of us but you could easily share this as an app with four. Next time I come back it will be difficult to order anything else because the food was that good.

The Southern Bar & Grill is a great local hangout in Mt. Pleasant. The interior has humorous things…read moreon the wall, dollar bills signed and stapled to the bar, and a great vibe in a very clean environment. We had to try the Apple Pie shots since everyone seems to talk about them. This is way more complex than some apple flavor liquor. The ingredients take some prep work, and the result is something that literally tastes like apple pie. If they bottled this, I would definitely buy it. They have two specialty drinks, the Freshy and the Orange Crush, both of which are made with fresh squeezed juice squeezed right when you order. I had the Freshy which is orange or grapefruit juice with your favorite liquor. I chose grapefruit with vodka and even though I am not a huge fan of grapefruit the freshness and tartness of the drink made it quite enjoyable. My wife had the Orange Crush with Deep Eddy's O.J vodka, Triple Sec, Sprite and some of that fresh squeezed orange juice. It was nice and sweet which was good since we were ordering a lot of savory options. The Potato Skins arrived first and they were truly impressive. Good sized skins with the perfect amount of potato, not too thick or too dry and definitely homemade. They had mixed cheese, bacon and green onions served with sour cream also loaded with green onions. As far as all the potato skins I have had these were a standout. Next came the onion rings with an absolute massive serving for just eight dollars. You could tell they were homemade and served with a chili garlic sauce. The best part was the batter coating which was crispy yet didn't fall off when bent or bitten. They reheated nicely in the air fryer. Next, we tried the Toasted Raviolis which were filled with Italian sausage and served with a house made marinara. They were nice and crispy, but the true star was the marinara sauce which was thick and chunky with parmesan mixed all throughout. I wish they had more dishes that used this sauce as it was excellent. On the advice of some regulars, I tried the chicken fingers which were all breast meat, dill brined and hand battered. It was good advice since the chicken was juicy and tender with a flavorful coating. Sometimes it pays to ask. My wife ordered the thing they are known for their Philly Cheesesteak. She decided on double meat, and they were super generous to the point she looked at me and said, "I don't know how I am going to finish this!". This cheesesteak gets nominate for a lot of best of lists and I could see why. I liked that the cheese was mixed in with the meat and not just poured on top. She enjoyed it but said next time she will order it as is. This is a great place to hang out and relax and maybe catch a band or some bluegrass and enjoy a great meal!
